Very busy! Not creative!

I am still obsessing over archaic singing and Airsoft (my friends have founded a new MilSim group so I joined right over and are very hopeful for the cool things we are going to do when the first perdiod of organising stuff is over! Today I am getting my DVD copy of the film from our last Slavic event, so I hope to be able to bring it on Youtube.com soon, after it's been edited and stuff.

On Monday I am going to the mountains in the east of the country to train my skills in archaic singing (my new hobby) and I hope to bring new ancient Slavic songs with me (although they won't be teaching Polish ones which makes me a pissed panda). Wish me luck tho!

Meeting old friends... Trying to forget the painful past. My local Heathen society is trying to reform again. Let's see if it comes out as a success. I celebrated the holiday of the Goddess Mokosh together with a couple of other female... friends on the 27th Nov. (Friend? Is that a safe word again? I'm scared of calling a person a "friend" in case I might lose them, so I'd better not). But it was good. Very good.

I am helping organize a Winter Solstice party, which will take place somewhere between 17 and 19 December. It's going to feature a lecture on the Slavonic traditions here, samples of holiday dishes from Poland there, tradtional games and costumes of animals and monsters used in folk culture during carnivals, folk music till the last guest leaves the pub. Why not?

Wow, it's been a long time since I updated.

I've been thru some hard times in my life recently of which I rather don't speak here, but they left me both scarred a little bit and enthusiastic about moving on and trying new things.

Currently I live in two places at the same time - with my ma and pa half of the week and with my beau the other half. It is tireing but I am happy to be able to combine the advantages of living in both my homes.

I left my historical group and plan to concentrate on making costumes as well as painting a collection of small pictures of Slavic dieties. Probably in watercolors or/and tempera.

I've been also thinking a lot about fashion and style - my dull clothes make me look like I'm my own auntie/gran. I wish I was so talented in that respect as ... (must check out her stuff)

I've been sick and writhing in pain recently, inflamed ears yet again. 'Sides that life has gave up being a bitch for the moment and I've been enjoying it happily together with my honey

I've sumbitted my masters, so no more writing about Mr Tolkien guy for some time. Not that I have gotten tired with reading him, no. The topic was "The Notions of Ethnicity and Race and their Functioning in the Texts of JRR Tolkien's Legendarium".

The Master of Arts examination's tommorow!!!!! Slowly starting to freak out. Just one more day and I'll be a free woman or I'll have a big problem to worry about...

It will be great to return in glory to Rarog and to airsoft. I'd like to buy a bike one of these days, once I can afford to pay the first installment.

Yesterday I came back from Ogrodzieniec, which is a little town like 100 km from where I live, and it has this neat castle [link] on its outskirts. Sorry for the site's being in Polish but you can scroll down and see the pictures. There was (inside the ruins!) a big fest for Viking recreationists and others from the same period, with us, Rarogi, as one of the participating groups. Just seven of us went, but we tugged along two tents and our new feather in the cap - the cooking pot, which cost us loads of money but it's a really cool thing to have. And we could and did even lend it to others, pffft...

And one more, slightly belated, piece of news. I bought my first airsoft rifle It's an M733/M4 CQB hybrid (Tokyo Marui, best for beginners like me ). Yes, a pic or two coming. I caught myself baby-talking to it. I am aware I shouldn't be treating a toy like that. And at this age. And I understand some people find this peculiar, but... all spinsters eventually go mad, don't they? Yeah, that's the key. So shut your rosy mouth tight or I'll poke you in the eye with my magical spinster stick. Also, I'm performing turdy-dilly-shitty-crapily trying to play soldier, cuz it turned out I have an amazing talent for being visible to the opponents. But I am learning (or I hope I am).

Besides having fun I am pretending to be working on my MA thesis which should be due next month. Which in turn sounds a bit far-fetched to my mind. I dare say. Yeah. Sep-tem-ber! We had a little photo session with my 10th century Slavic group Rarog [link] So I am putting some of those here. Those that were not shot by me go into the scrap section.

Before that, we gave a little show for the visitors at a fair at our local Academy of Economy. It sucked major ass, I tell you. The atmosphere was horrible and I was cold. Gah. It was a necessary evil, though. We have to buy some things for the druzhina we couldn't otherwise afford.

I hope our "chieftain" will update the damn site anytime soon.

I was lucky enough to be invited as photograhper to the Second International Airsoft Convention Krakow [link] Basically, I didn't have to pay and was free to wander wherever I would and take pictures of everyone. For example, popularity. I am not really into web communities, except my beloved Mordor board but sometimes even I find myself thinking "I wonder if anyone's going to fav this picture?" Or wondering why people don't seem to even view those of my pics that I think are worth anything and they do comment on those that I consider weak. I once found myself thinking: "This is not going to look good as a tumbnail"! I wonder how many artists here are considering this issue right at this very moment... Anyhoo, I am kind of happy I am not an actual artist, just a regular attention seeker.

Was good to forget about all the dirt of the world and about what people are doing to this country and simply commemorate. It was like a breath of fresh air.

Then we got jolly drunk at my place. Whole thing ended as girls' night in the early hours of the pitch-black November morning... erm. So it's quite obvious what the convos were about, just as how much squeeeeeking was heard and what was being watched, right? Today I got up at 11.00 a. m. ... Shit. Must get to work, now! It seems (to me) to make sense when we consider it in the context of this mythologeme: animal - forest lord - fairy creature. IMO, the leaf-shaped ears may signify a connection of the fairy beings with nature and simply be an animal feature (though an 'atrophic' one).
