Beware, rant ahead. Leave while you still can.

So, I'm sorry, but the biggest insult to me, is comparing one of my characters to another.

It's just like... a bruise on my creativity, and it really annoys me to end, making me not want to draw at all.

It just hurts, a lot.

Call me a drama-llama or what ever, I do not give a damn.

But it hurts, and this is my journal, let me bitch about stuff.

I can totally understand if personalitys match, or hair is THE EXACT. SAME. STYLE. Or they look identical. But really guys.

Over something like the style of clothing that the character dresses in, some items that they may have on them like a bandanna, or a chain. Even over an eye color. Maybe the characters share the same colors in their hair.

I'm sorry, but those aren't grounds to go around and say "Hey, your character looks like a spitting image of so-and-so!"

I'm not wigging out on anyone. I promise. Just it was brought to my attention.

And I need to stress how much this does upset me. It may seem stupid to you, but whatever. I'd like to think my brainchilds are original. Please don't go around pointing out tiny similarities. Look around. You'll find them on everyone.

And so I walked to school, cold and alone. But on the bright side, I did have eggs and toast for breakfast

Anyway. Got to school and did what I normally did. Played Mario Kart DS with my friends :3

I will take this time to tell you that a few weeks ago I went and auditioned for this years spring musical; Alice a Wonderland. (A combination of Alice in wonderland and through the looking glass). And I tried for the part of the Cheshire Cat. ^{Big suprize, right? I know.}

Aaaanyway. Monday I got a phone call from the drama teacher saying I had a call back. AWESOME NEWS.

Tuesday I did the callback and it went awesomely. And then I rolled my ankle on the way home. Oops.

So I stay home Wednesday, text my friend whining at her about my pain, and doing some paper mache. I whine at her more to see if the cast list is up, and it wasn't. So sad and eager to know if I got in, I continued with my day.

I'm very thankful for EVERYONE OF YOU PEOPLE who are being patient with me. I'm trying really hard. I'm working on my art, and my school. And Yanno, I'm actually practically acing a class. I'm almost ahead in math, and I'm actually pretty happy with my academics, actually. Kinda pissed at situations in Desktop Video, but ah well. Can't control what other people do >>.

As for art. It's been hard lately, getting the mojo to draw for other people. But I'm slowly fixing that. I'm getting over my art breakdown that I had a few days ago.

And I look forward to slowly wiping my slate clean. And I think... I think I might stop doing commissions for a while...

I dunno. It just seems that no one wants actual commissions from me. Like... not fucking icons. XD; Like.. busts, or sketches~ or full blown digital things!

Granted, I can't blame you, if it's because I take a while, but I do get things done!~

My friend decided to try to use and xacto knife.

And then I wanted to try.

BUT YES. I cut myself. I was trying to be intense, and it slipped. Then next thing I knew "Lol, I'm bleeding"

No one in specific, just people in general.

But I suppose, working in fast food, that happens.

Anyway. Was working four hours today (different from usual since I'm only on for 2 hours to cover breaks) because the girl in front who is usually with me, was being trained to work in the kitchen, so she could cover kitchen breaks.

Meaning I was all alone.

And generally I'm fine with that, I mean, I'm used to working alone on Sundays. Here I thought it would be a pretty nice and easy day, chilling out and cleaning and stuff. Cos that's generally how it is. All you can do is basically stand around and chat, praying for something to do, because you've already cleaned everything twice. So the assistant manager comes, tells my friend what she has to do, and then she meanders back into the kitchen to start. It was fine for a bit, and empty, so I started drawing for a little bit.

And then the rush came

And it was a never ending run of LARGE orders ><; and ffft, trying to clean the tables and trays as fast as I could while people were waiting for the food to show up in the chutes.

And yanno, I'd probably be okay with all of that, if I didn't have a migraine that had been plaguing me for like... 3-4 days. So I took a T3 (Tylenol 3) And that took the pain away for... maybe an hour, and then it was back full force. So essentially, all the T3 did was succeed in making me sleepy (seeing as a T3 can knock me out), so I was struggling to stay conscious.

And then there was this one lady. Fuck man, I wanted to shove her face in the coffee grinder. I hate how people are now a days when they treat fast food employees like we're retarded or something, or like we're not even people too. Take note that when ever someone is rude to one of us, we tell everyone in the business that we can. Everyone will eventually hate you

that, and we won't give you napkins (drivethru).

But augh. Just the way she talked to me.. She ordered two burgers with drinks, and I had asked if she wanted fries with them, for the combos, and she said "No, no fries" and then I was all "Oh, okay!" and didn't punch them in. When the order was done, I brought it over to her(because at the mall we're awesome and generally bring the food to you), and smiled and said here you go and then ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE WAS ALL "Hey I ordered fries!" I was all "Uhm... I asked if you wanted fries and you said n-" "I SAID I WANTED FRIES WITH THIS OTHER BURGER" I said okay, and took the burgers back to the chutes to keep them warm and such, and I was actually going to run to the back, and get free fries for her, because if it is a mistake on our part, we generally do that. BUT THEN MISS HIGH AND MIGHTY marched up to the till and was all "Well I guess I'll order some fucking fries then and fix your problem." and ffft. Srsly lady, srsly. And in this situation, I woulda normally been nice and given her the discount from the meal.

But really, this bitch didn't deserve it.

So eventually i brought her meal to her, but fft. So much hate for humanity, just in that one person.

Like, sure, you might have had a bad day, but that is no reason to take it out on some poor cashier or w/e. We try our hardest (at least most of us do) to make sure that everything is done perfectly for you, hell, we get fired if it's not practically perfect (unless you're the managers kid, in that case you get off scott free). The least you could do is calm the fuck down. We make mistakes, and we apologize and we fix them. The least you could fucking do is say "Thank you," and "It's okay."

Hell, you really want to make our day? Smile and say thank you, or even chat with us if we're not busy. Today, after the bitch was in, a customer saw I was having a bit of trouble, and I actually messed up on her order, and when I apologized, she said "Oh it's okay! You seem to be having a rough day, take your time," and she gave me the warmest of smiles. I could have cried and hugged her.

So next time you're ordering at a fast food place, or anywhere really, remember that we're people too, and you might not be the only one having a rough day.

"Every day, there are more and more Craigs List posts seeking "artists" for everything from auto graphics to comic books to corporate logo designs. More people are finding themselves in need of some form of illustrative service.

But what they're NOT doing, unfortunately, is realizing how rare someone with these particular talents can be.

To those who are "seeking artists", let me ask you; How many people do you know, personally, with the talent and skill to perform the services you need? A dozen? Five? One? Ânone?

More than likely, you don't know any. Otherwise, you wouldn't be posting on craigslist to find them.
And this is not really a surprise.

In this country, there are almost twice as many neurosurgeons as there are professional illustrators. There are eleven times as many certified mechanics. There are SEVENTY times as many people in the IT field.

So, given that they are less rare, and therefore less in demand, would it make sense to ask your mechanic to work on your car for free? Would you look him in the eye, with a straight face, and tell him that his compensation would be the ability to have his work shown to others as you drive down the street?

Would you offer a neurosurgeon the "opportunity" to add your name to his resume as payment for removing that pesky tumor? (Maybe you could offer him "a few bucks" for "materials". What a deal!)

Would you be able to seriously even CONSIDER offering your web hosting service the chance to have people see their work, by viewing your website, as their payment for hosting you?

If you answered "yes" to ANY of the above, you're obviously insane. If you answered "no", then kudos to you for living in the real world.

But then tell meÂ why would you think it is okay to live out the same, delusional, ridiculous fantasy when seeking someone whose abilities are even less in supply than these folks?

Graphic artists, illustrators, painters, etc., are skilled tradesmen. As such, to consider them as, or deal with them as, anything less than professionals fully deserving of your respect is both insulting and a bad reflection on you as a sane, reasonable person. In short, it makes you look like a twit.

A few things you need to know;

1. It is not a "great opportunity" for an artist to have his work seen on your car/'zine/website/bedroom wall, etc. It IS a "great opportunity" for YOU to have their work there.

2. It is not clever to seek a "student" or "beginner" in an attempt to get work for free. It's ignorant and insulting. They may be "students", but that does not mean they don't deserve to be paid for their hard work. You were a "student" once, too. Would you have taken that job at McDonalds with no pay, because you were learning essential job skills for the real world? Yes, your proposition it JUST as stupid.

3. The chance to have their name on something that is going to be seen by other people, whether it's one or one million, is NOT a valid enticement. Neither is the right to add that work to their "portfolio". They get to do those things ANYWAY, after being paid as they should. It's not compensation. It's their right, and it's a given.

4. Stop thinking that you're giving them some great chance to work. Once they skip over your silly ad, as they should, the next ad is usually for someone who lives in the real world, and as such, will pay them. There are far more jobs needing these skills than there are people who possess these skills.

5. Students DO need "experience". But they do NOT need to get it by giving their work away. In fact, this does not even offer them the experience they need. Anyone who will not/can not pay them is obviously the type of person or business they should be ashamed to have on their resume anyway. Do you think professional contractors list the "experience" they got while nailing down a loose step at their grandmother's house when they were seventeen?

If you your company or gig was worth listing as desired experience, it would be able to pay for the services it received. The only experience they will get doing free work for you is a lesson learned in what kinds of scrubs they should not lower themselves to deal with.

6. (This one is FOR the artists out there, please pay attention.) Some will ask you to "submit work for consideration". They may even be posing as some sort of "contest". These are almost always scams. They will take the work submitted by many artists seeking to win the "contest", or be "chosen" for the gig, and find what they like most. Today we got a call from Staples telling us what is wrong.

The answer?

Hard drive failure. ;n;

So, going to get them to try to back up my art, my pictures folder, and my itunes library. And then I'll be buying a new hard drive. Nnngh.

So I'll be shelling out around 300 for it all. -sobsob- and then I'll have to re-download everything.

HOWEVER ON THE BRIGHT SIDE.

I will soon be up to snuff and back to business!!

I'll have a fresh start, and I'll be able to do all the work that I couldn't on here. And that is fantastic C:

I just hope they can save my artwork :C

Anyway. I'll update with more information when I get it, and possibly a date on when I'll be fully back on line.

I'll probably amuse myself with the videos of Scott McNeil (Kouga) and Richard Ian Cox (Inuyasha) saying "Mysti, you ROCK!" Which, by the way, I'll possibly put on youtube to show off C: but more probably it will go on photobucket.

Oh man tho. It was so fun. Getting to chill out with =Temrin and ~Dragonmanmike ,awesome. I also met *shadowsmyst who, might I add, is a very nice individual

Chilled with ~Cilo also. I finally got to meet you, Cilo!!! <3 Made up for my mistake for last year!

I also met Kaji, one of Tem and Mike's friends. He was very nice and fun. And OH GOSH. The fursuits that came were so awesome. I bet the fur meet was fun too.

Spoke with =lone-momo aswell, and bought some prints from her! She was really sweet, and it was TOTALLY rad.

Also, an artist that I commissioned was ~AngelP whom I chilled with while she was drawing Disko for me And she did an epic job!! So much fun!

She says she'll have access to a computer when shes in Vancouver for the con, so you'll have to wait till then if you want to talk to her.
