i am truly gutted.

it was taken off me in a bar and thrown into a heavy crowd by a complete stranger.

now its gone.

its been just another thing to happen in an increasingly expanding number of fucking shitty events to happen lately.

the profile photo was done symbolically as i feel pretty invisible, more so without the hat.

with it now well and truly gone i'm feeling pretty shit.

i'm hoping tomorrow (or today, actually) 25th Oct. 2009 will pick up as i'm doing the 4th shoot in as many years for Rainbow Rooms, hopefully that will go well.

unfortunately i cant seem to get into a positive frame of mind about it.

i'll stop waffling.

anyhoo... i have decided that, along with some new photos of Missing Cat (coming very shortly), i will be putting up more of the Rainbow Rooms photos... BUT IN COLOUR!!!!!

the decision (does that look right?) to do this was because some of the entries were done in colour and looked great... and hey! its nice to have a bit of a change, thought i love black and white...

i also have to rake through my back catalogue to find 6 suitable local landscape photos for a project with Tom (toms-art) we're working on...

and a CD cover that i've been fiddling with since July last year!

Son Of Dave was playing and he was quite extraordinary.

anyhoo... Missing Cat were in support, and despite a criminally cut-short set, they were great, and i got lots of new photos to process and upload here...

its been about 2 years since i took photos at a gig... loved it...

the day started off with John Boormans EXCALIBUR... a film i've not seen in ages and decided t owatch again to inspire my tired mind...

after that i dived/dove/THESAURUS!!! into the recent BEOWULF, which although i still think Ray Winstone was bizarre casting and teh horses looked funny, was great, and teh overall look of the fiml was mind-blowing... apart from those horses... and "AH'M 'ERE TA KILL YA MONSTAH!!!!!!"

... not in the slightest bit Danish-sounding!

last but not least was CLOVERFIELD... which *ahem* i found online...

there was a chaps heid in most of the picture in the bottom left but other than that it was watchable and the sound was awesome...

overall i liked it but it did, much like The Blair Witch Project, stretch the point of beleivability a bit... some of what was filmed, to me, wouldn't have been in a REAL situation, especially the bits involving the military...

but hey... the most eye-popping special effects since the first time i saw The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen or Jurassic Park... phenominal...

anyhoo... i feel after all this vegging infront of the idiot box with a cluster of shiny discs that i have found some inspiration to do some photos and maybe *maybe* (with some help from Tom at toms-art) some painting!

I was a bit unsure at first as i was the youngest person in the room by five years (i'm ony 25!).

alot of the people there had jobs in television and things...

anyhoo, to cut a long and not entirely interesting story mercifully short, i was talking away to a few people, mostly about photography and my ongoing attempts to break into the field in a somewhat professional capacity...

... by the time i'd left the party i'd sold a photo of the Steamship Sir Walter Scott (somewhere in my gallery ) on the strength of a tiny picture of it on my phone, and be offered part-time work as a story-boarder...

... and possibly got a wedding gig in Ireland, which is always good...

... so all in all, it turned out to be a good trip...

... would have been better had i not had to shell out £40 on a taxi home and then lose my grey beanie hat in the rain...

so its a new year, a fresh start, so i decided to dig through the dusty archive and put up some old photos from ages ago just to kill time...

there are 4 slides from my time studying television at college, my first ever studio shots! the quality on them is pretty bad due to the method of digitising them (blue tack, a window, clear sky and lots of sunlight + a strategically placed camera & tripod!)

there is also some early experiments in "colour-popping" which i tend to do occasionally (most recently with the current Rainbow Rooms photos).

plus a couple of landscape/wildlife photos that i forgot to post when i first took them...

i am in a somewhat jovial mood today, christmas is getting near, i have a head bursting with new projects to do over the next few months and today...


... well today i was handed a new camera, well... it was actually an old camera but it was a GOOD one... it is a Canon, which is a departure for me (all my digital cameras have been Nikon's, my film cameras Practika and Yashica) but it is an SLR and came with what looks like quite an early infra red speedlight...

all for free... result...

... it might get me back into playing with film...
