This is terrifying. I got through last semester with a credit, a distinction and a high distinction (screenwriting, prac V music and photography respectively) and since this is my last one, I hope to go out with a bang. Maybe even an HD for prac if I can swing it!
- Work. I've become a deli-chick. This is very strange, being someone who does not enjoy cleaning and would not eat if it weren't, you know, necessary to survival. But, having been there now for about 5 months, I've gotten really good at estimating shaved ham weights and I can remember most of the important PLUs. Go me.
- Music. I've put a new track up for your listening pleasure (hopefully) on MySpace, called "Like It Hot". My MySpace is a bit weird at the moment, I applied a new theme but I'm not sure I like it so bear with me... but listen to the song! [link] . Doing a unit on internet music marketing and another on audio engineering this semester (I love 3rd year and its electives!) so hopefully I'll be all equipped and able when I get my degree.
- Life. Still with my gorgeous Christobiscuit, coming up on 3 years and 4 months. Not really enjoying this him-in-Brisbane-me-on-Tweed-Coast thing but the plan is, once uni finishes I pack up shop and ship out to Brisbane to join him. With a bit of luck. Looking forward to that phase of my life - building a life for myself has been really exciting so far and I don't know where I'll end up, but I can't wait to see what job I land, what my place looks like, and how I fare.
- Other stuff. Got a little Twilight obsessed for a bit there. I think I've recovered. Actually, wait. I made an Alice Cullen replica necklace tonight for a party I'm going to as a vampire on Saturday. Probably not so recovered. But everyone's gotta have some romance! Also, new Dresden Files is MADNESS. Can't get enough of Jim Butcher. Or Joss Whedon - Dollhouse is fantastic. Castle is also with the greatness (Go Fillion!). Incubus' Monuments and Melodies has me fangirling all over again - those guys CAN'T write a bad song. Another current addiction is lingerie. I know, wtf? But I can't go past a Bras N Things without going in. Upside of this is a slowly developing collection of pretty knickers. Downside is the steady depletion of the bank account.

It was such a great holiday - relaxing and fun, and the people are so kind and I wish we didn't have to come back. Let's all shirk responsibility and go live on a holiday island and never work again! If you're ever headed there I really recommend the Radisson Resort on Denarau Island. Melini at the Pool Bar makes the most killer mocktails EVER.
There are only 7 days remaining until Christmas (hope I didn't scare anyone with that revelation but let it be a kick-starting statement for ye who has yet to Christmas shop!) and I've got most of my present-buying out of the way. It's cheapskate all-round for me this year because I can't afford to get really good stuff for everyone haha. Chris is taken care of, and Cherylyn and Tim and Loren and Mum and Rhun but I don't have anything for Kevin, Sally, Peter or my grandparents. Not to worry, I think there's late night shopping plans for tonight.
I've gone and gotten myself all Twilight obsessed - saw the movie last night and it could have been better but that's okay, I've got the books and I'll just stick with what I saw in my head.
As for all the band stuff I mentioned in the last journal post (6 months ago mind you) it all sort of fell through but there's some new music up from my uni portfolio on MySpace (www.myspace.com/erinflynnaudio). Go check it out if you feel the need!

~Changcubus and family opened a cafe. I've officially half-finished my degree in music. I'm going to Fiji in November and it's gonna be fantastic. I'm also even more obsessed with the Dresden files novels but I'm gonna run out of them soon so I hope Jim Butcher writes fast.

It's strange to think that so much can be the same when so much can be different. I'm really happy with where I am right now, and who I'm there with... I just have to be more active in keeping motivated to get out there and do it.
It frustrates me that I spent high school dreaming about music and being in a band and gigging, and that now, two years later, while I do have a diploma and part of a degree and a whole lot of improvement musically in every way imaginable, I still have no band, no direction... essentially nothing to show for it but a few client brief assignments and a few pieces of paper. That changes this year.
Composition student = necessity to compose music, record music and hand said music in. As a result, I'm going to have to start marketing myself, I can't keep waiting around to form a band and get it moving. I'll let you know when there's music for you to hear. Maybe you'll recognise some lyrics from here. Oh and if you're after angsty you-never-loved-me-anyway songs, look elsewhere I'm all about the mush lately.
This is becoming much rantier than I intended so I guess I should stop there. This is better suited to LJ.

Uni's pretty demanding (recommended 20 hours of vocal practise per week, and that's just on technique... not even giving a nod to my other 3 units, or writing charts or preparing songs or WRITING songs...) but still fantastic and there are some great people there, and so much talent! I had a theory test today and couldn't remember the harmonic and melodic minor scale formulas. Damn. I have a World Music Perspectives exam on Thursday. Hopefully I remember what a balafon is.
So what's news? I have a new guitar (a Squier Telecaster, bone white for those who want to know. It's so pretty!), I have a new hairstyle (but I'm not real happy about it and Bobbin would freak if she saw it... in a bad way) and I have a new but rarely-satisfied addiction to WiiPlay. Apparently I'm good at Billiards. This was news to me.
A fond and sad farewell to my darling cat Puss, who passed away on Good Friday but, much to my dismay, did not rise again on Easter Sunday. Had my cat proven herself to be Jesus I would have immediately appointed myself a disciple.
I painted something recently that I would upload to show you except I gave it to my grandparents and forgot to take a photo... so next time I'm there I will, and if I remember I'll stick it in my gallery.
Christobus turned 21 yesterday, and today I'm officially 19 and a half (a very merry half-birthday to me).

1. I start making strange noises if I'm tired/unwell/in pain.

2. Every various CD I've ever made is numbered in a system dubbed "Erin's Favourite Songs". I started doing this in 2002 and subsequently have 61 volumes of "Erin's Favourite Songs" CDs, including volume 6 discs 1 and 2... yeah its a two-disc set. These days I also date them and mark any exciting aspects on the cd, for instance volume 46 consists mainly of songs downloaded from the Triple J website so it's inscribed with "The JJJ edition apparently", and volume 45 has a cheerful "HBP!" on it because I burned it on 16/7/05, which was the day Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was released.

3. I seem to get over things quickly and easily... and I'm a big fan of linear communication (as ~Eroala is well aware hahaha)

4. I can and often do walk silently without even realising it.

5. I'm a trained and qualified ballerina; 10 years of training and attained my major 2 level certificate ("highly commended") in 2002.

I have a fetish for Converse All Stars Chuck Taylor shoes and own four pairs: your basic black low tops with rainbow shoelaces and an Incubus badge, a pair of purple high tops, a pair of "Ben Lee" chucks as I call them - slip-on shoes with a place to put laces but no need for them (Ben Lee has them) - in pale pink (what? When I signed in I had 498 messages and I've got it down to 170 at this point when a headache's starting to get the better of me. So long as I keep with the overhaul and don't let it get out of hand again.
So, the news? I'm more a music enthusiast than ever with an unquenchable thirst for Panic! At The Disco (new-music honeymoons... ahh glory) and that "Take Your Pick" poem that's currently my most recent deviation's been Panic!ked even more than it already is cause I've used it for the lyrics for a composition I'm doing for tafe... which is in a very Panic!y style.
I'm currently at The Boy's place on his computer while he jams with Waiting for Aasher up the hill (want to see what he looks like? No. Last time I played poker (Decemberish) there was a strip element involved and it ended badly. Though I witnessed a very amusing poker game between Cherylyn, Timmy and Kenny recently.

My phone (no longer a dodgy piece of annoyance!! A motorola v535! Though it has a mind of its own so now I have a shiny schmick piece of annoyance. I call it Rufus), my wallet, my quotes book and a pen, my camera more often than not. A hair tie... yeah.

14. what do you miss most about being a kid?
Not having to work and not really needing money.

15. are you happy with your given name?
Yeah I think its rather pretty. More people know me as Erin these days, the only people who call me Maika (who are left to call me Maika) are Rhun, Timmy (who actually calls me Erin-slash-Maika), Chang sometimes and Arla.

16. what color is your bedroom? Zircon blue. And you can SEE IT. I hate it. I need to get postering. I might even do so tonight.

Yes, I was a dancer though. And I wrote and starred in one in grade 7

Held yearly, it tours the country playing shows in Auckland (yeah so it plays New Zealand too), the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, taking with it 8 stages and some 70 bands, timetabled so that if you want to you can see just about everyone. Sensory overload or fantastic organisation? (Granted that not the same bands play each show but the headliners take the entire tour, while some do only Australia's east coast, NZ, Perth etc). [link]
So, the blow-by-blow full-action replay of my day? Let's start with before we even hit the Gold Coast Parklands Showgrounds... the gig was sold out a fair while ago, and I'm not sure how many tickets were sold but it's more people than I've ever seen in my life (except maybe for last year's Big Day Out).
We woke up at 6:30 with the intention of leaving Cj's about 8am (its generally a 45 minute drive approximately to Parklands from Tweed) for a leisurely drive (cheers, Paula), allowing for traffic delays, breakfast and supermarket stops (for disposable cameras etc) and such. Despite a 10-minute sleep in we ran ahead of schedule, got to the supermarket before it'd so much as opened and had to wait a whole *gasp* five minutes to be let in. Breakfast and photographic materials purchased, a quick run-in with an ex-boyfriend and some money changing hands later we were back on the road. Stop in at a Maccas on the way for a toilet run (cause festival port-a-loos SUCK) and a bacon and egg muffin and coffee for the driver (oh, and a quick perve...) and off again.
Eventually hit the road and suddenly Paula takes a right turn. What? Ah well, she knows where she's going. We end up in Labrador, and then Southport... yeah okay so she got us lost. Back to Smith Street, eventually locate Parklands with a minimum of consequence because, at 9:10am, nobody's there. Gates open at 11... Queensland time. Fsking daylight savings. QLD time it was only 8:10.
So we made friends with Linda and Amy, two randoms with cool shoes (loved Amy's green chucks) and hung out with them for the next two hours talking about Roma and Tweed and Jack White and who we thought was hot and whose shirts were cool (yay the anti-pink brigade! "Say no to metro!" and "I don't give a mouse's donkey!"). The queue began a good hour before they started to let anyone in, and lacking sunscreen at that point, that's when most of the damage was done to my skin. Joyous.

Anyways we got in, oriented ourselves, and the first band of the day was Braxton.

Holy God, they tore up the local produce stage. We didn't catch their set from the beginning but what we saw was amazing (including the singer, Alex, climbing on top of the stage roof...). They had enough energy to fill either the blue or orange stage (the two main stages), despite being only on local produce (a tiny one). Though the bassist seemed a little attention-seeking... oh well. STILL ROCKING.

I had the opportunity to see these guys at the Falls Festival when I was in Tasmania but they played the main stage at the same time as the Vasco Era played the smaller one, and seeing as how we'd made friends with the Vasco Era on the plane the night before there wasn't a chance in hell that we were going to miss them. So we put Faker off till BDO, got a semi-decent spot in the D-barrier... Nathan from Faker is pretty damn cute and Hurricane kind of went off but we found them a little lacking for the opening act on one of the main stages. We think they would have been more at home on a smaller stage. Still good though, still enjoyable... but we were still in Braxton mode.

We left Faker after Hurricane just as they were finishing up, and we heard Gerling start up but I think we took the opportunity to get food, or Cj and Jess? did, and our next stop was The Presets.

Umm... You know I think I'd just make the temperatures kinda bearable, and the weather and stuff. Sunny in the tropics, but not so hot you want to die. Snowing where it should be snowing but not so cold your ears will snap off if a train passes.

I'm trained in it, 10 years of classical ballet, 5 years of modern/contemporary/jazz/funk/whateveryoucallit. And I kinda miss it when I start watching dance concerts or movies with dancing and stuff. I still dance around my room like a retard, and I dance with Jess? and Cj at parties and such but I think I want to start a dance class again. I gotta do something to keep me fit, too!

It's seriously the only piece I've written, I've had no inspiration/motivation etc etc to be a-writing. I've wanted to and I've had ideas, it's not writers block. I just haven't had the time/opportunity/inclination to actually get these things onto paper. I'll get all ready to write a poem, like get the ideas at work or whatever, and as soon as I have the chance to write it down I don't feel like writing anymore.
Nonetheless, cheers to the whole 3 of my apparent 76 watchers who commented. *hinthint*
Hopefully there'll be more work coming soon, if I can get off my lazy arse. Or on it. Depending on how you look at it.

Thanks to everyone who prayed for my friend Luke. Last I heard they'll be bringing him out of the coma sooner than originally expected, and he's moved his arm and opened his eyes, which is a good sign. I have no idea how full a recovery he'll make but hopefully he'll still be the Luke we know and love.

Christmas is good and close and despite the fact that our house has never looked less Christmassy (my mother actually threw out our Christmas tree this year) I'm trying to retain that elusive "cheer". I had it by the time I finished work last night, I think it was ~jaggedfreak's fault. How's about that Fairy Floss sometime soon, Loren? But yeah, as soon as I leave there or I'm not with Cj and Jess? anymore the cheer factor deteriorates rapidly and I'm back to jadedism again. Funny, Cj and I sang at our local Carols by Candlelight and we were easily the least Christmas-cheer possessing of everybody present. All the same, I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and eats twice their weight in your choice of yummyness.

He and two of his friends were hit by a drunk driver. One of his friends died on the way to hospital, and I'm not sure about the state of the other but I assume he's alive, at least. Luke is in a critical condition, in a coma and may not wake up for six to 12 months. He had some severe brain swelling and they had to remove part of his brain to try to help some of the fluid and swelling go down. He might not make it.
Please, just take a minute and pray for Luke.
I can't believe this is happening. Five days ago I was angry at the boy for making us miss Kisschasy at Homebake waiting outside to sell him my spare ticket. He actually texted Cj, who is very close to him, on Wednesday night when we were on the train saying he'd like to catch up with us before we left Sydney. Now he could be dying.

1. *shouts it from the rooftops* I'M IN LOVE WITH PATRICK SEAN HEDDLES! aka *surrealist-geek Everything makes sense when I think of him.
2. I have lived in the one place, in the one house, for all of my 18 years of living. Never moved once. No, it's not boring, because I don't know any different.
3. I can, and usually do, walk silently. With the exception of when I'm wearing heels on tiles or something, in which case noise is pretty much unavoidable, I don't make very much noise at all when I walk. Similarly, unnecessarily heavy footsteps tend to get on my nerves.
4. I'm going to three music festivals in two months, it's gonna be MAD. Homebake in Sydney, then the Falls Festival in Tasmania, then Big Day Out on the Gold Coast. Life rocks.
5. I have a magic 8 ball that I actually trust to a certain degree. I was inspired to buy it by the movie Interstate 60 (props to ~lawza) and when I walked into Socrates (the shop where I got it) I promised to buy the first one that told me I should. I picked up one of the balls, asked if I should buy it, first try it told me "it is certain." So I did

7. I'm what has been described as "small". Not short particularly, just "have a fine frame". I'm 5'7, and I weigh about 55 kilos.
8. I actually have my music aural exam in 12 hours and 30 minutes or so, so I should get some sleep soon.
9. I love shopping and I'm really good at spending money, but I'm pretty good at saving it too. Music is my weakness: I buy WAY too much of it. Particularly Epicure, I LOVE their music but it goes for a good $35 at Sanity. Yet I buy it anyway, to support the band.
10. I'm a rock chick all over. I wear the black jeans (NOT skinny), the rock tees, the Chuck Taylors, the eyeliner, I've been been known to wear spikes and chains and safety pins, and my hair is currently black/purple. I wear a lot of black. But I don't look scary or intimidating, or sad all the time. I smile a lot
11. I'm hugely into the Australian music scene and very passionate about supporting local acts. You want me to burn you Kisschasy? Go to hell! Buy it, and get better quality, support the artist and get a pretty cover slip to look at as you listen. 12. I'm a Joss-tragic. Between us my brother and I own ALL of Buffy, Angel and Firefly, including the Once More With Feeling and Serenity soundtracks, the Serenity comics and figurines, Serenity posters purchased from the movies and saw Serenity 12 times (7 for me, 5 for him). We even saw it twice on opening day.
13. I seem to go through obsession phases. I was obsessed with cats for many a year and have a HUGE collection of stuffed cats and various other cat paraphernalia (sp?). Following that was the music/LOTR/fantasy phase where dragons, wizards and System of a Down reigned supreme. System still do but I'm in the sci-fi/alternative/diverse phase now.
14. I play guitar as of recently! I know about 10 chords and that's about it hahaha but it's enough to get me through the basics.
15. I sing. I think this was pretty widely known but for those of you who don't know, I sing a lot, I love it and I hope to make some kind of a career of it.

1. SERENITY FRICKIN ROCKS!! I laughed, I cried, I cheered and sang and gave a standing ovation. I saw it twice in one day, and am going back tomorrow night.

2. I've become well and truly a Buffy Fan. I really dig the Once More With Feeling soundtrack. Props to Rhun and Patty for their influence.

3. A tree fell on my house the night before last. A really tall gum in my neighbour's yard. We've been talking about how it'd happen one day for YEARS, but I never thought for a minute that it actually WOULD. I woke up on Serenity Day morning at 6am to my mum yelling out to my father "BRIAN! Vince's tree has fallen on our roof!" If you know my family you'll know how odd this is as an occurance on its own lol. The strange thing is, I woke up about 10 seconds before it fell (about 1:15am) sat there for those 10 seconds thinking "what the hell woke me up?" cause I seriously had no idea, then heard the SMASH which was apparently the tree busting through the fence. Only the flexy top branches hit the house, so no damage. Props to the clothesline for its fantastic catch. But man, the fence shattered spectacularly. But yeah, back to me... there's little old me thinking "Oh no, someone's trying to break into the neighbour's pool shed. Better shut my window in case they come here next." *shuts window, goes back to sleep*. Nice one, Maika.

4. I'm getting far to into guitar lately (I'm kind of teaching myself) which is great timing with my HSC just around the corner.

SERENITY UPDATE:

YES IT IS TRUE! Serenity is that close! 2 days! I don't think I've ever been so excited about going to see a movie, not even through my Lord of the Rings obsession. Rhun and I have decided to go see it once in the morning and once that night with a horde of come-alongers, that way we don't have to worry about anybody talking over it and we won't miss things. And there may well be more Browncoats to meet. Anybody who lives nearish me and wants to come along to our massive introductory viewing, we're hitting up AMC Tweed City cinemas at 6:30 and going to the first screening after that. More details will be available on Thursday when the session times come out so if you want to come (and aren't ~lawza or ~jessquestionmark cause you guys go without saying) get in contact with me and I'll give you the details as they come. Saw the trailer last night when I saw Red Eye with ~jessquestionmark, Cj, Clinton, Bucket and James, then there was a blurb on it on the noticeboard in the cinema foyer, AND there were the a bunch of preview screen handouts on the wall that Cj pointed out, which is odd because they didn't have a preview screening so I grabbed a few of them (two for me, two for Rhun lol. Left the rest for other Browncoats). That was all yesterday.

THEN today Rhun and I hit Tweed City in the morning so he could get the next season of both Buffy and Angel (he's slowly gaining the entire series) and he spotted the Serenity poster (the American one, no less) under AMC Cinemas with a "coming soon" sign (we'll see about that, they advertised Kung Fu Hustle then didn't pick it up), so I went and hugged it and we immediately trekked upstairs to put his name down for it. Did that, got excited, went back downstairs so I could drop my film in to be processed (hugged the Serenity poster again for the hell of it -- yes I attracted attention but I don't care) and THEN when we were in the Newsagent's in Kingscliff and Empire magazine came with a free Serenity preview disc!! *spasms* so Rhun bought that too, then we figured out it's basically just an episode but HEY (jellyish, ~lawza?) that's cool, we're being die-hard browncoats.

More as it comes. I think this makes it clear to you just how much I NEED you to see this movie when it's released.

Just got home from an 18th birthday party a little under an hour ago, it was great fun. Until a bunch of retard gatecrashers from my school turned up pissed off their faces. Then it kind of went downhill. But Dancing with the girls and being told repeatedly that my ex had been staring at me the whole night was fun.

~jessquestionmark and I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today, MAN it rocked. My love for Johnny Depp has been rekindled and I should be hiring out Chocolat any day now to exaserbate the issue. Mmmm... Johnny Depp, with hot hair, playing a guitar in a movie about chocolate. What more could you ask for?

My HSC music practical exam is rapidly approaching, which is really scaring me cause I haven't got my backing organised properly yet -- I need an entire rock band (bass, drums, guitar) for Ironic though at least now I know how to play it (in case you care, chord wise it goes like this: G, C, G, Am through all the verses, then the chorus is the same thing except for at the end "and who would have thought? It figures" where it goes Bb, F, and I can't remember the last chord but I think it's back to G. Yeah, hard *sarcastic* I can play it, however badly, so it can't be too hard.) and for Who Will Raise Their Voice (by Capercaillie, if you're into Celtic music it's an awesome song) I have backing organised so far... well, nothing but a flute. Great. I need guitar, drums and bass for that too. Joyous. I've also gotta look into getting Laura to play trumpet fills for me in Lullaby of Birdland, and get Luke and Burto on the case for Locked Out and make sure they know what the hell's going on cause ~jessquestionmark and I bluegrassified the 3rd verse and quietenified the 2nd one. All because she dropped her pick when we were practising one day lol. Good times.

Might I note that the Placebo cover of "Where Is My Mind" ROCKS! I'm not sure if they usually do it but they did at this gig in Melbourne a year and a half ago that JJJ are airing and it's awesome.

Went to see August Way in Murbah on Friday night for the Banana Festival proceedings and the launch of their new single "Here Where You Are", twas awesome. ~lawza and I got free champagne hahahah (Mobius: "Like some champagne, ladies?" Maika: "Underaaaaage..." Mobius: "I didn't hear that." *hands us glasses*) and I promptly spilt some of mine, drank it til it was down to about half the glass (it was a small glass) and then gave the rest to Lawz. Got to catch up with ~jabberwock-hunter though so that was good, in fact he features as electric guitarist in the film clip. Which is funny, cause he's not a guitarist Looks the part though, he had rocker hair at the time.

Anyways, that ought to do out of me. I feel sick from too many m&ms, hot chips, smoothie, coke and creaming soda with the girls while we worked on our drama piece. HSC assessment tomorrow 0_o wish me luck.

1. I just found my old cd backing to All Or Nothing, a Neon Black track we wrote months and months and months ago, our fourth song ever, third if you go from when we started writing with ~jaggedfreak. If I can get it to work, I might lay down the vox line and chuck it up online (with ~jaggedfreak and ~nbaAngel's permission, of course.)

2. I got three exam results back today. Did reasonably well in Music, did alright in Maths, above average I think and I surprised myself in Drama written. Didn't ask what I got in individual and group performance. I didnt' want to know.

3. I'm going to Tasmania for New Years to see ~Andriel for his birthday! We're going to the Falls Festival (www.fallsfestival.com.au) and he bought my ticket today... STOKED! Probably going to Homebake as well (www.homebake.com) but there is no way they could keep me from that. Every Aussie band I've ever loved but never seen is playing.

4. Go sign up for Cj's forum. Now that she has the net back on I think it's time we got Monkey Breath pumping again. Its just a bit of fun, really. [link]

Thursday: Coffee (or rather, iced chocolate) with ~Eroala after schoolness and exams... on the day of most awfulness when my drama teacher made me cry repeatedly. But I got an apology, which is more than everyone else can say I guess. We went shopping soon after and I got the coolest charm bracelet, its got a star, a dice, a guiar, a plectrum with "rock" on it, a heart andtwo keys on it. Rock. \m/ Discovered that "Do-Dos and Whoa-Ohs" by Kisschasy is following me around... but that's okay cause they're tying for my second-favourite band at present.
Friday: Cj calls at about 9am and says "hey, come to the movies at 10:10." Okay, sure. We watch the movie, fall in love with the token gay guy who looks like Fionne, our old English teacher's younger brother who we fell in love with last year when he came to school to help out the year 12 drama students, and get out of the movie at about midday. James rings Cj up. "Hey, let's go iceskating." Okay, sure. Session starts at 1:30, goes till 3... James and Bali come through, pick up jeans for me on the way through Kingy (aren't they lovely boys?), drop us back at Cj's to get changed and we head off.
Somehow we end up at Nerang cause James missed the highway exit but eh, tis all good. Get to Iceland (the skating place lol) at about 20 to 3 but we go in anyways... by this stage we've figured out that I've left my entire bag and its contents at Cj's so all I have is clothing, so Bali pays for me (whoops, tense change!) and we skate for the next half an hour. I haven't lost my touch! I can still do the corner thingie like a pro when I try hard enough and I even managed an arabesque on the ice so ballet skills aren't as diminished as I previously thought. After that it's off to Pacific Fair for a really late lunch (once again paid for by Bali) and a quick round of DDR... HELL YEAH! DROP THE BOMB ON STANDARD!! I GOT A B!!! D D D Stokedethed. And then it's off home. Tops day for boy-watching, Cj hasn't lost her touch.
Saturday: Pretty average day, a lot of random bumming around until about 6 when Cj and Dave turned up to take me to a gig in Pottsville at the hall where I used to spend at least 4 hours a week, 45 weeks a year for nigh on 10 years learning dance. God, that brought back memories. Two bands were supposed to be playing, and it turned out half of one of them, "4play", used to go to KHS. Funny that. They couldn't figure out how we knew their names. "Are you Buggy?" "...Yeah. Scary. Who are you?" He probably doesn't remember that though, he was rather drunk. Anywho, proceed to smile politely at 4play's set and in the break between sets, rock up to the stage and take a geez at one of the guitarist's weapons of choice. Funnily enough, he's got an Epiphone Les Paul copy and an Electra Les Paul copy. No joke, ~jaggedfreak if you actually bother to read this, it was exactly the same as your flametop except blue. Nowhere near as pretty, though it sounded alright. Ask if they know any Incubus and somehow get invited to sing for them for the next set 0_o cordially agree...
Actually start to get into Occasional Blisters (the other band) but James, the vocalist/guitarist chatted to me a bit then and I didn't get to hear so much of it. He was an alright guy and offered me a place in the band permanently if he liked my voice but thankfully he never got to hear me sing. It's nice to be hit on for a change though, even if the guy is drunk. I don't get that often, particularly not when I'm hanging out with Cj. Hahah he had the funniest reaction when he offered me a beer and I told him I'm straight edge. Something along the lines of "oh... okay... *quick recovery* You were brought up the right way then hehehehe..." Cj and I were going to play Lesbian if he didn't back off but it didn't have to go much further than rock n roll dancing/Pride of Erining and the occasional kiss on the cheek or hand on the leg before we ended up taking off anyways. In other news, Dave's name is now Giselle *whip noise* ze French Beetch and my fedora made a guest appearance. Take that, Mira.
Then Sunday... work. Nothing special really. Oh wait, I take that back! An awesome phone call... Always leaves me grinnng.

DeviantArt, in my opinion, is becoming less about COMMUNITY and more about CORPORATION.

So what we need to do is bring back THE COMMUNITY.

Here's my suggestion.

On August 7th, DA turns five years old. Five years for a website like this should be a grand affair, one big event.

So don't submit anything on August 7th.

I'm talking a print, a deviation, a scrap...nothing.

Instead, just leave a comment. Visit a user's page and just say hi.

If someone wants to buy a subscription that day, I'm all in favor or it. It'll keep the servers going, and anything that keeps the hamster running is a good thing.

BUT...I think folks shouldn't buy any prints. No print subscriptions. That goes against the COMMUNITY theme for the day.

We want to put the COMMUNITY back into DA.

If you're in favor of this, if you believe in the power this COMMUNITY has, then join me. Post this in your own journal. Spread the word to everyone, with a and a .

We might be tilting at windmills like Don Quixote.
