I appreciate that you guys appreciate me! Thank you so much for supporting me throughout my artistic journey. I will do my best to impress when I come back! So far, most of the improvements have been subtle. It's nothing overtly flashy or astounding, although my coloring skills have gotten exponentially better out of nowhere. It's a pleasant surprise, but one that makes no sense to me, because I've been focusing on anatomy mainly! How strange? A lot of what I upload when I come back will be classwork and sketchdumps, and not too many nice, shiny finished pieces... I hope this is okay with everyone!

Also, I love Digimon. I just... gah. Sometimes I'm rejuvenated in an interest in an old thing, and I have always loved Season 3. It showed at a point in my youth when I was very emotionally malleable and impressionable; Renamon was my hero. I used to pretend she was my Digimon partner and would protect me from the crippling panic attacks that haunted me at night! She would save me! Who else likes Digimon? The first three -- AND ONLY THREE -- people who respond to this journal who like Digimon (bonus points if it's Season 3!) will get a free quick sketch of their original Digimon character (the Digital Monster itself, not the tamer). You don't necessarily need to have a reference picture, but it'll make it go quicker. xD

We will bite each other to get it! I have very little time for fun things, but I do insist on making time to sneak on deviantART and talk to my treasured friends you guys! So please forgive my flakiness right now.

AniméUSA, like usual, I'll be at the How to Draw Manga-style panel! Please come join me. I am high-energy, talkative, and bouncy. (I also know what I'm talking about, I promise!) Wow. I was clicking through my gallery (it's in storage, so I'm the only one who can see it right now), cleaning some things up and tidying, and one thing led to another, and I sifted through my old journal entries. There were, like, seventy-bajillion. SEVENTY-BAJILLION, I TELL YOU. So I combed through them trying to leave only the ones that might be interesting to read or relevant. (To something.) I also went on a cleaning spree around the house; lysol, bleach, febreze, windex! Yay cleanliness! Do you ever go on cleaning sprees?

I have the flu, though. But I feel so much better today than I did the past couple of days, these past two weeks have been some of the worst in my life. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, I suppose? _{Even if I feel like I'm dying on the way...}

I joined Thorns [link] , a play-by-post RPG my friend Alex `thundercake made. It's really fun so far. If you love to read and enjoy advanced role-play, Thorns is absolutely the best choice! Speaking of good choices, this artistic hiatus thing was a good one. I've been improving in my absence from posting art online -- the improvements are subtle, but it pleases me a lot. There's plenty of interesting things to show you guys already, but I'm not coming back for a while. My sketchbooks are getting so full!

I need a team of people who are willing to be my assistants during the artistic zen training in the mountains. You will be wearing the padded gauntlets as I practice my karate kicks! Hey guys!

From now on, in an effort to show the kinds of comments I want in my own work, I'm going to be giving critique on pieces. Every piece that catches my interest I will offer critique if I see need to. I hope this will help everyone! deviantART is very focused on 'buttkissing' and generic "Awesome!" "You rock!" comments that are totally unproductive to the artist.

From now on, I'll be taking everyone here seriously as an artist and offering them critique on every piece I view unless critique has been discouraged, in which case I will be very disappointed in you. LOL. I encourage everyone to do the same as well! This is an art website, let's rejuvenate the art part!

Just an update!

Also, this artistic hiatus thing is working. o.o Without the need to have others validate me and tell me how great I am on the internet, I can be as harsh on myself as I want, and actually DO BETTER. It's... amazing, I'm really glad. I know now that when I do come back I'll be a lot less likely to let comments go to my head. This pleases me immensely.

R.I.P. Lumi

Lumina passed away tonight.

Her health had been rapidly deteriorating since I got home yesterday. I rushed home after work to take her to the pet emergency room. She had an appointment scheduled for Monday, but I was just too worried. When I came back, she was dead, her poor little cold body lying in a sleepy position in the middle of her enclosure, pretty green eyes closed peacefully. I sat there petting her for a long time.

I put her in her favorite pink shoebox lined with pink-frosted tibetan lambswool. Pink was her favorite color, it always caught her attention more than any other colors. I wrapped her in a pink fur cape so she can be warm wherever good geckos go when they pass on. She was the best drag-queen I've ever met. She was four and a half years old. Cause of death is probably reptile impaction.

R.I.P. Lumi. I love you and I'm so sorry I was too late.

Ask an OC!

Okay, found this idea on =SaxGirl1010's journal, and she in turn found it from *bec-sparrow and *Dagger-A09. Check out their journals for great examples of how this works, this is going to be so much fun!

Here's how this works; ask any of my characters anything. I'll doodle their response to you and post it up in this journal. Will take as many as I can/feel like -- but won't take repeats. xD Be creative if you can, ask ridiculous questions. Note that the art won't be fantastic, it'll be all done on the computer and relatively quickly since I'd rather devote more SRS time to my other art. XD

Okay! Some information about things! When I'm ready to Wi-Fi battle with people, I'll post my trainer number up here. ^^ I challenge you to make the same journal with your Pokémon OC(s) information! Now, some information on my trainers:

Chibi Jingles



Usually observed as a 2-foot tall 'chibi'. With a classic case of 'short-person mentality', Jingles has overcompensated by becoming a Champion amongst trainers. From far and wide aspiring Pokémon trainers come to challenge her... if they can find her. Most are expecting an intimidating veteran of the Poké-world, wizened and hermited away in the mountains.

Only part of that is true.

Jingles does reside, hermitlike, deep in the mountains next to where it is said the Shaymin pass in their annual migration. Jingles has collected every badge she can, and keeps tabs on strong trainers, whom she seeks out avidly for battles. Energetic and hyper-competitive, those who meet her in person question Jingles' ability as a trainer. How did she get so far?

The secret is thus: When she puts her glasses on, a magical transformation takes place, and Srs Jingles is made. A tactical genius, Srs Jingles only comes out in Pokémon battles. She is an expert on typing, strategy, and unlocking devastating potential in her Pokémon. This alternate personality from Chibi Jingles shows her face rarely, and confuses many people because of the abrupt and startling personality change.

(If it helps, it's like this: Srs Jingles is to Chibi Jingles what Yami is to Yugi.)

She cycles frequently through different teams as they hit the pinnacle of their power and require no more of her tutelage, so the team she's with currently may change in the future at some point, although she will might use previous teams in battles if Srs Jingles deems there to be a tactical advantage in doing so.

Perla



A very advanced trainer. Utterly ruthless in battle, even going so far as to allow her Pokémon to finish another trainer's entirely. Since her Pokémon are also fairly jaded and/or messed up individuals, too, they depend emotionally on Perla very strongly. Has not yet been able to beat Jingles, her ultimate rival, despite the fact that the former cycles through temporary Pokémon teams rapidly, and Perla has been training her core team alone.

Just wanted to feature presents I've gotten... god, thank you guys so much. Every time I look at these, my heart swells up with affection and embarrassment, I can't believe people actually think I'm worth the time to give art! Getting a present of art is the best thing I can think of. It shows so many things -- that the giver thought about you, put aside their valuable time to make you something, and also, just displays the sheer magnitude of the human ability to put mark to medium and create.

If I forgot your piece, let me know -- I was browsing through my favorites and may have missed something! These are just the pieces I know of on deviantART, my gift art folder on my computer has a lot more work that wasn't featured here, because I wanted people to be able to click on the work and visit the artist's page. To everyone in the Battle Perla project, thanks for your continued patience. I'll be drawing at Grandma's house probably. xD And I'll have my laptop with me, so I can update here on DA -- just not with pictures until I come home. ~rolls around~ That's all. What are you guys doing in your summer?

Okay, we just found out this morning that my Grandma Pauline, on my father's side (not the one I'm visiting soon) passed away last night. Her physical shell died, anyways -- her mind died forty years ago when she was divorced from my Grandpa Bill -- who died a long time ago. I feel sorry for her. No one knew her, no one cared. The only people we can think of to invite to her funeral are family members... she had no other friends in the nursing home she -had- to live in. She petered out a pitiful existance and died forgotten, and that fact sort of haunts me. No one should die so alone.

On another note, I didn't mention this in my journal I think, but someone I care about much more, to be brutally honest, passed away a couple months ago. My beloved Great Aunt Rachel. She was amazing -- a strong, vibrant character who won't be forgotten. Well-loved by hundreds -- I mean HUNDREDS -- of people from connections at church, she was totally self-supporting. She loved her cat, Singer, and asked me to draw a picture of him. She died before I completed the picture, and that just makes my heart ache with this weird hollow pain I can't describe. Especially when I look at this reference picture she proudly took for me to look at when I draw Singer...



And see that there on her bedside, right where she looked every night before she went to sleep, are two pictures of... me. Not one of her many other loved grandchildren or relatives -- not one of my many cousins, not even a picture of her old cat Ralpher. A picture of me. My heart aches as I write this and the tears in my eyes feel like acid.

I'm working on the picture of Singer for her as I type, and I can barely see through my tears. My heart hurts so badly I want to curl up into a ball and die. I feel so stupid for relapsing into mourning again a couple months after her actual death, but goddamnit, I MISS her. Oh my god ...I'm so sad.

And I can't change the fucking emoticon for my Mood.
