Well not much to say these days, back at college where the focus for the next couple of months is Painting/Mixed Media Devolpment & Production. Which means I will have a bunch of work to put up in the next few months (havnt uploaded anything since April).

Mixed Media has never really been my kind of thing, but this is my last year at college before I go on to Uni, so im hoping to improve on that area because whenever I see any of my classmates (or people on deviantart) work, I do feel a bit jealous that I cant produce something as amazing as that with mixed media lol im more of a charcoal using kind of guy lol :)

Anyway thats all I have to say really, hope everyone is good, drop by and say hello sometime :P

Never have those words been more true than wednesday night...student night. Basically im a Jack Daniels man, I can drink that all night, get completely smashed, never through up and remember everything from the night before. Wednesday there was no money for my own bottle of Jack, so until we went out I had to settle for Vodka and Coke, or Vodka and Red Bull....which was a bad idea. because of the lack of taste from the Vodka I was putting way way more than a double. So by the time we left to go out, I was really tipsy, the Sambucas and Jacks at the club tipped me over the edge :| of the 2-3 hours we spent in the club, I can only remember 20 minutes of it =| and spent the next day getting told what I had done (apparently I fell down some stairs in the club) but they could easilly have been lying to me

....never again :D


Anyway, its a new block here at college and now with that, we are making videos and sculptures (clay, paper) and all sorts of stuff, in the style of Peter Callesen which will be pretty cool, we also have to set up a seperate blog at Blogger.com or something :| be better if I could just use here lol anyway thats all I have to say for the moment

Well I finally get the CDs with my photos tomorrow, I used a disposable camera for the Edinburgh trip(I know, I should really get a digital one) so I had those developed and have them right now, but it takes longer for the CD(god knows why) so they come in tomorrow, then I have to go through them all, clean some of them up then finally stick them on here....

One of the new things I will be working on is sketchbook development with the topic.....

First thing we are doing for this is a trip to Edinburgh a week tomorrow where we are to take at least 100 photos...but pictures of what?

Architecture, building facades, windows, modern reflective buildings, churches, buildings with graffiti.

City views, over rooftops, into alleyways, closes, windows, cafes, art galleries, night in the city, reflection from lights.

Shops, fronts and interiors, signange, graphics, window displays.

Decaying buildings, worn paintwork, contruction work scaffolding.

Train and buses, cars, stations, garage interiors, car parks, roads.

People engaged in everyday activity, waiting, eating, communicating, shopping.


So yeah, in over a week or so I will have at least 40 decent photos to post on here(dont want to post them all, going to use them for other stuff ;) )

I have a few ideas for what I want to do, but dont want to get into that much because it could change, but one idea was basically - Banksy Style Graffiti + Rage Against The Machine if that makes any sense


Another topic that we are only doing for 6 Weeks is...

We are required to produce our own conceptual art piece. I would explain more but this is a new subject to me and im still getting my head around it. If anyone has their own views on this please do share :)

Good thing that came out of it today, someone told me Dylan Moran is performing here in a couple of weeks, the man is a genious so have something else to look forward to :P Also our timetables for college are, full day tuesdays, half days wednesdays and full days on thursdays.

First thing I(and everyone else though) thought "yes long weekend" but no doubt we will be on on our days off to do work because its gonna be a little bit harder than it was last year :p

Im waking up every morning with pretty much no purpose at all apart from just being. Really not a great feeling lol and to make it even better, my PC has been buggering up really, got some Anti Virus to sort it, only helped a bit, now it doesnt shut down and restart as much but still does. So cant really do any graphic stuff, not in the mood to draw or paint or anything like that so god knows when I will add to DA :(

Knowing my luck something will come up and the everything will be good again lol

On a more positive note(well for me anyway) I recieved 3 albums in the past 3 days (well 2 on Saturday and on Today)

All 3 were autographed by the people themselves :o

After this me and my mate decided we would go out, even though he had a college assessment at 9 the next day(I think) anyway we went to a few bars, then headed to a nice club called The Underground, my friend got ID'd (which he had on him and I didnt) but when the bouncer looked at me and I said I didnt have any he simply said that it doesnt matter I look old enough at least and that was me in :)

In there I seen my cousin and his friends who joined me and my friend, overall it was a good night

Now to the point of this little Journal entry, after last night I arrived home between 3.30-4.00am didnt get to sleep till after 6.00am (last time I checked on my phone) woke up at 8.30am (mum left to drop sister off at school and go to work) then at about 10am(sorry for all the "am"s btw :P) I got a letter through the door, was from the college I just assumed it would be the date for an interview because theres nothing else it could have been seeing as how college is finished now, when I opened it up it was a Full Acceptance letter for the HNC Contemporary Art Practice course for 2008/2009 :D as tired as I was that got me awake lol anyway thats my "little" news :P

Well thats college done for me now so ive decided to make a list of stuff to do in the coming 3 months:

Quit doing Traditional Artwork for at least 2 months - Mainly because Ive been doing this for about a year now, need a break from so ill be a bit more inspired when I go back to college or start doing work say a month before I go back

Get A Job - Need to do this for many reason, a few of them will be listed but also need money for social get togethers :)

Buy excercise bike/cross trainer - Going to try and get into better shape, already have weights to use but need something for cardio

Buy a Bass Guitar - Learn how to play, narrowed what I want down to these 4: [link] [link] [link] [link]

Transform my room - from a mess (due to art materials) into a nice crash pad :P

Set up a personal website - for myself to use as an online Journal (blogs suck), gallery for my images, videos and sounds

Buy a shitload more music - Any suggestions are welcome :)

Well I went into college this morning, was only in for a half day but with the exhibition happening tomorrow we had to come in to get our stuff on the wall.

When we got there we were told that the other class would remount their stuff and put theres up then we would do ours....

....3 Hours and 30 minutes later, the other class still hasnt finished, we havnt done ANYTHING, then one of the tutors says "you dont have to come in tomorrow during the day and your work will all be up for the exhibtion"

....wasted day.

Well at the at start of next month I finish college, we have an exhibition of our 'best' work, then thats it over for 3 months

What to do in this time...

Well first Im learning how to play Bass Guitar, but 3 months of that will just annoy me lol

But I think Im getting my internet back on.... I need to get it back on for the course I might be doing (if I get in next year) which requires us to use online blogs and youtube to upload videos etc

Which brings me to something else, Im hoping to set up my own website (not a forum or anything, done with them lol) to have my own online blog, video/audio section and maybe even sell stuff, who knows Ill be thinking about it further in the coming weeks plus I need to see if its alright with the college if I do the course from my own site rather than a Blogger site lol

As always to do most of this, Ill need a job aswell XD which will hopefully be easier this time with no college hours to work around

Last but not least....how are you all? :) only seem to speak to a few people who watch me lol be nice to speak to the rest aswell :D

Ok, as much as I love comments and :+fav:s from everyone on DA, recently I added Locked And Loaded [link] to my gallery, now for those of you who havn't noticed, Loaded are a band that consists of Duff McKagan ( Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), drummer Geoff Reading (New American Shame, Green Apple QuickStep), bassist Jeff Rouse and guitarist Mike Squires (both formerly of Alien Crime Syndicate)

So the 'Loaded' part on the submission is actually the bands logo from the album 'Dark Days'. I posted it on the fan site to get some feedback and I got this from one of the band members:

Kind of the anti-climax for anyone reading this eh? I know he spelled my name wrong (the amount of people who manage to do this with such a short name is incredible lol) but to me that is awesome that one of the guys commented on it and liked it :)

You know ive just been thinking, this year has probably been a lot more eventful than others for me and its only April! lol heres why:

January: Started off at friends house for New Years, was an awesome night, also had a couple of more partys with the same group (this usually only happens once every so often), my CD and DVD collection grew significantly bigger aswell :)

February: Velvet Revolver Ticket bought, another party this time with my friends and one of my friends sisters friends altogether (I know overused friends here lol) Asked to go on holiday at somepoint before I go back to college in August, upgraded Velvet Revolver Tickets to meet the band :)

March: Drew my brothers portrait when he was younger for his 21st Birthday, friends plan holiday without me, Weekend working on big Canvas with friends from college class, also threw out my house for 4 Days on the same night, ended up crashing at my friends house, gave brother the portrait on his birthday and he thought it was awesome, Velvet Revolver gig on 20th March, met Slash, Duff McKagen, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner, discovered Year Long Disaster and bought their record (support band for VR) and Scott Weiland announces on stage it is the last VR tour, after the gig I managed to get Matt Sorums autograph again and he says its not the last tour :) I go to the Cathouse club in Glasgow, got in for free because I had my ticket stub then I sleep rough at the bus station (didnt have enough money to book somewhere to stay)

April: 2 weeks off college, because of this I went back to doing more photoshop work instead of general, started album cover designing and later on this month im getting a bass guitar for my birthday and im gonna start learning that :D

So there have been many ups and downs with most of it happening in March, I wonder what the rest of the year is going to be like....


Also just realised Ive went past the 1000 views mark, not the biggest achievement in the world but thought I would mention it :)


P.S. I still need to do my Journal Layout properly, will do it in the next few days so bare with it :P

P.S.S. 2 more things:

First some awesome news (for me anyway) I just read that Duff McKagen is releasing another album with his band Loaded and doing a tour that comes to the UK in the Summer/Early Fall and that after a Velvet Revolver jam session, they have done at least 12 new songs (wither they are on the next album is a different story) but musically Im excited aswell, all I need is for the Chinese Democracy Album to come out (more curious about this than excited) and it just makes this year even better :D

Just been thinking, things have been pretty good since I started this new account, it was wierd on my old one, in over a year I had only 20 deviations but still managed a bunch of watchers and over 7000 page views lol

The Weekend I was doing the big canvas(which although has had stuff done to it, is still unfinished) with my friends, I was also kicked out of my house for about 4-5 days from the Saturday resulting in me missing a few days of college, when I got back to college the work we were doing was being done over a period of a few weeks, so I couldnt put them on here.

Also Since the Velvet Revolver Concert (see previous Journal) ive been feeling really unwell. My Throat has been aching and ive been finding it hard to get any sleep, and breething recently has been a problem, although now im getting better :)

So the past 2 weeks have been pretty hectic but things are looking up, but now I have 2 weeks for catching up with stuff and recovering from everything thats happened recently. And what better way to do it than doing some more artwork?

And this is where I need help people, I have a few ideas I want to try out and also my friend :icone-quinox: suggested something a while ago Im gonna try aswell. But I would appreciate it if you guys could give me some ideas aswell :D or if you have any photos/designs etc you would want me to work with as a sort of collab that would be cool aswell, im still fairly decent at using Photoshop aswell :)

I arrived there at about 11.50, then spent about half an hour looking for the venue, lucky for me I had a google map printed out lol :)

When I found it, it was a case of waiting till 4.30pm for the meet and greet thing. It was during this time that instead of standing by myself and doing nothing, I started speaking to a dude beside me called Arron(not sure if thats how it was spelled but it doesnt matter lol) who was there with his girlfriend and her friend, they had been there since 7.00am.

That was pretty much it till the time came to go in, a couple skipped ahead of me when we had to collect our passes, but a nice english couple allowed me in front of them because I was waiting for so long, so I was 2nd in line :D

We were let into the venue, but we had to wait a while because the band were doing there sound check which we all stood and watched, was pretty awesome. Duff aknowledged us all with a thumbs up. After this Joya Cleveland, the VR road coordinator, took us in and explained what was going to happen(I wont bore you with this) but she said to form a queue on the side where I was standing, so I was first in line after all XD

Then Matt, Duff, Slash and Dave came out, greeted with cheers from the fans. And then I was let up, in which I didnt know what to say to them so I kept it 'casual' lol asking them how things were, how were they liking Glasgow and what had they been doing. Matt and Duff were the more sociable, but Slash and Dave still had a few words aswell lol

"Marc with a C? There ya go, yeah been really enjoying it here its really cool"

"Fans here are awesome, yeah I did a signing at a music store, was pretty crazy"

Was so amazing and surreal that these guys were right in front of me, then I had my picture with them and that was that lol I spent the rest one talking to other people, making temporary friends would be what it was really lol :) and also I stood and talked to Joya Cleveland while she was taking the photos of other people with the band so they were only a few feet away from me lol she was pretty nice, I remember seeing Dave Kushner looking at me a few times probably thinking "who the hell is that guy and why is he standing there" XD

After this, it was just a case of waiting for the gig to start.

The supporting band, Year Long Disaster, impressed me from the start, I bought their record after the gig, the songs are good, not great, but still they sounded pretty damn good live, had a good onstage presence. Did well considering no one was there to see them really.

We had to wait about 45 minutes after they had gone off to see VR, mostly due to the crew setting everything up.

Then NWA's Straight Outta Compton came on and while the lights were off you could see the band coming on stage, everyone pretty much went crazy.

Now I cant remember the order of the songs, I can remember what was played first & Last and what was played in the set, just not the order lol They started off with Let It Roll they also played(in no particular order) Sucker Train Blues, Do It For The Kids, Big Machine, Fall To Pieces, Set Me Free, She Mine, She Builds Quick Machines, The Last Fight, Just Sixteen, American Man, Get Out The Door(I think) and a few other songs including Mr.Brownstone and Its So Easy. Slither was played at the very end, was pretty awesome

There were a few people surfing the crowds, but more seriously someone was smashed in the head with something and were bleeding pretty bad, think he was ok though.

Now about halfway through the set (and before Fall To Pieces) Scott announced on stage "you're witnessing something very special here tonight, the last Velvet Revolver tour" which brought confusion to the other members of the band, after they performed Fall To Pieces the band went off stage. After about 30 minutes(roughly) the band came back on, well all except Scott, and started on Its So Easy which sent the crowd crazy, Scott eventually came on and performed the rest of the set. All in all it was a good gig, I loved it and the drama with the band kind of added to it although I hope it isnt the end of VR.

Tomorrow I have the CIS Insurance League Cup Final to go to, my team Dundee United is playing Rangers, if we win, all the better :D

Then 4 Days later I go to see Velvet Revolver, not only see them actually but Im meeting them before the concert :o

Slash, Duff, Matt, Scott and Dave, all these guys making music before I was into anything and before I was born with the likes of Guns N' Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cult, Loaded, Suicidal Tendencies and Wasted Youth and on Thursday I will meet them.

The funny thing about this is that me being there holds no significance to these guys whatsever lol they will appreciate me being a fan like but apart from that its nothing really, but it will be such a moment to meet these dudes lol cant wait. :D

Feeling a bit more creative these days, trying out different ideas, got a few more T-Shirt ideas done that im going to put up soon, between now and when I can put them on here, I will probably have a few more done :) Good Times. Also gonna try and come up with some poster designs aswell.... im just in that kind of mood!

Nice to see some of the people who watched me on my old account watching me again, always nice that :P got a few new ones aswell...I think.

Also, I cant think of anything to do for an avatar or Deviant ID, if anyone has any free time to whip something up for me till I can come up with one would be appreciated :D

One Last thing, I need ideas for a T-Shirt name, Logo, Brand etc. I have one in mind but a hearing a few more might get me something better :)

At the moment ive only uploaded all my work I uploaded to my photobucket a while ago. This Saturday I should have at least 10-20 more submittions or more, a mix of work ive done at college in the past few months and also some work ive did over the past 2 years at High School.

After all these are all submitted I will then submit all my work weekly as I do them, which should be about 2-3 pieces a week depending on the class (I have projects and occasionaly we do pieces over a couple of weeks)

Also Im trying my hand at a bit of web design, poster/print making, T-Shirt prints and other things, using my skills with photoshop aswell as my art skills lol hopefully it will be interesting.

Again also if I have impressed you enough to ask me I am open to requests, drawings, paintings etc. Gives me more work to submit and also gives you a little something aswell :)

LASTLY: Next weekend, me and and about 4-5 other 'Artists' from my college (2 of which are on DA) are doing a collaberation on an 4 by 10 foot canvas, should be interesting to see how it comes out
