JOURNAL ENTRY
I found the recorder I lost earlier this summer! It was hiding under my bed with my sister's flute (my old flute - the one I started on). I was so happy; now I can continue learning recorder in my own time. And I've also been thinking about maybe learning alto saxophone, just for kicks (and so I can actually get a spot in college jazz ensemble). I really wanna learn trombone, though, or get better on drum set, but that'll never happen (drum set is kinda hard, and although I have both a drum set and alto sax available, I choose the saxophone).

I decided to skip over Three Cups of Tea for the time being and move onto BoneMan's Daughters. I mean, I have until August 22nd to finish my required reading, and Dekker's novel is just... Well, the first couple chapters are really good and I don't wanna read a boring, required book at the moment.

For the first time this summer, I found a snake! I was so thrilled, but I had one of our dogs with me so she scared it off before I could catch it. My method of catching snakes involves a stick and/or a sock. Yeah, I always used the stick way but I was once in a position a while back that if I touched the snake I'd get bit, so, I used my sock. So... I've using socks now to cover my hand. I know the cotton probably wouldn't do much, but it makes me feel safer and less likely to get bit.

*Starting the first day of band camp in August, I'm going to write down what's happened for each camp day. The journal entries will be in my usual blog, but I'll have the entries listed on my site.

JOURNAL ENTRY
I cleaned my flute and piccolo this evening. They both feel so clean and smooth. I also tuned them both in preparation for band camp coming up mid-August (yeah, I have a ways to go, but who cares?).

I finished up Brisingr today! It took two months to get through, when normally it takes me less than one. I love the Inheritance Cycle almost as much as I love Ted Dekker's novels as a whole.

45 days 'til band camp! I'm SOOO excited! *Edit: 7-8-09*

JOURNAL ENTRY
Here's just a list of mistakes I've made in the four years of HS band. Looking back, I find them quite silly and stupid little things.

Sr: All year I made the same exact mistake(s) in our school fight song. B-flats and B-naturals are seen throughout the piece, but B-naturals are more prevalent. Well, I ended up playing all B-flats throughout the fight song, only now, as a graduate, did I realize my mistake. Fortunately, no flute or piccolo player was actually in tune with another, so it wasn't truly noticeable. Another mistake was the E-flat trill we had. We're supposed to trill our 2nd/3rd fingers of our left hand, I however, the lazy senior/section leader I was, managed to get away with trilling only the 3rd finger. Aha! I listened more closely now that I've graduated; the pitches are different. Once again, we had tuning issues so it wasn't too noticeable.

Jr/Sr: Flutes are not batons, nor are they meant to be twirled. I damaged my flute that way once, and generally I follow rules so I don't get in trouble. Oops. Also, I was twirling my piccolo senior year at my very last performance and I dropped it. As section leader, I freaked out wondering if I damaged it (and my section plus a few alto saxes laughed at me). Luckily, weeks later I now realize what I thought was a damaged key turned out to be normal (I have a 4SP Gemeinhardt and it has the hand rests on it). I just never noticed the key actually touched the hand rest until now.

So: I never kept in shape during the summer months, so upon returning to school (and only a few weeks into school itself), I pulled a muscle in my lower abdomen in gym class. As a result of this, I was limited in what I could do in marching band (only slightly though). I took care of myself during the school week until the Friday night football game where I simply ignored any pain from my abdomen and marched how I used to. You could say I hurt even more afterward during the game, and the entire following week. Lesson: exercise, even a little bit, can prevent injuries!

Well, my high school life should soon come to an end this month. These next few weeks are going to be extremely busy what with a choir concert, band concert, music award night, dinner show, and parade. Then what's left? Graduation.

I won't be going too far away for college (1hr). It's a really amazing place and the atmosphere reminds of home. A small hint where I'm going: the football team is the Ten-Time Div. III National Champions.

I plan do several things on the trip there: 1) Start/finish scholarship essays, 2) Read (no, duh! I just got Inkdeath yesterday), 3) Sleep (well, we'll be traveling in the dark for some of the trip), and 4) Draw.

Last Saturday I participated in the H.S. solo and ensemble festival. For my first and final year, I had a lot of fun. Not only did I receive a "1" on my solo, but I met up with many people I befriended at honors band the previous week.

The only thing I hate now is that I have college auditions to look forward to. This Saturday I have one at UA, and next Saturday at MU. I'm not entirely happy 'bout it, but it should be fun, right?

And then in March I have district contest...

First off, I'd like to say that I got accepted into MU! I found the letter in a pile of mail last night. Ha; it made me happy. I have a while to reply back to the college whether or not I'm gonna go there, but most likely I am. I'd just rather wait to hear from the other two colleges before I make my final decision.

On the other hand, I saw "Inkheart" today. I was...rather disappointed. It's probably just my own opinion, but I felt as though the movie went too fast and some transition scenes were cut. I don't know if Inkspell is being made into a movie, but the end of "Inkheart" was what really disappointed me. Maybe it was just a setup for the next part, but Inkheart ended nicely the way it was written.

I don't know, but for once I'd rather watch a book-based movie that actually followed the book and kept to the book. And the action scenes weren't really action-y either.

But that's just my opinion.
(The book was better.)

Well, the new look is quite interesting. I get on here and it's like "whoa! a new layout?" - Ha. I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. It's confusing right now.

College-Wise, UA finally confirmed my audition. 'Bout time, too. I had to send in three audition requests just to get an answer. MUC gave me a confirmation within two weeks. Took UA about a month. Now, I have to wait for a reply from B-W.

Art-wise, I should have something up soon. I finally broke down and took an Art class - for the reason it was the only non-boring class I could take at that time period. Kinda makes me mad, because I never liked taking Art as a class.

On the other hand, Inkheart came out in theaters today! I've already made plans to catch a showing this weekend.

By the end of tomorrow, I hope to have gotten everything done for the college application process. I've sent in two of my three applications (the third is on halt 'cuz I have to confirm something with my band director). Then after that I have scholarships/financial aid and all that stuff to worry about, in addition to auditions coming up in February.

I'm currently studying my music theory notes from the 1st semester junior year. I've had to teach myself minor scales since we didn't do much with that. What I'm happy about is that I re-read the audition information for B-W and I'm not required to have my scales memorized. Ha. It makes me smile.

Ooo. I cleaned my computer files out today! I decided to organize myself a little better. What really sucked about it was that I accidentally deleted Firefox from my computer so, through Internet Explorer, I had to re-install it. I was a little mad at myself and I threw a fit (with a few choice words added into the mix).

Well, I'm on my holiday break. I've two weeks without school, but I do have school work and activities (most of which I'm not looking forward to).

I college auditions to prepare for. I have all of my music now, so I can get started on that here. In addition, I have my honors band music to work on (1st rehearsal is the day I go back to school). It's not necessarily something I'm happy about, but I committed my time to learning the music when I agreed to audition for a part.

What I really like, though, is my solo for solo and ensemble this year. It's a Class B. I also have a Class A solo for my college audition, and...well...it scared me. My B solo looks about what I usually play (but with more dynamics and in a key signature I don't often play in). Otherwise, I like it.

What's Happening Now...
Just 2 more days before break!

Well, I'm done with music performances. For the year 2008, that is. I finished today and I'm actually quite happy about it.

Not only has Christmas music started getting a bit old for me (when you learn it way back in August, it gets old really fast), but I'm ready for a break. I get a much-needed break from normal, everyday concert band, but my work only just begins as I start preparing myself on my college auditions. For the next two weeks, I'll be working (pretty much everyday) on my audition music. It's not necessarily something I want to do, but to have good auditions, I'm gonna have to push.

And it doesn't help much that I've caught a winter cold. These last couple weeks have been a mess for me, considering my breath support in band has weakened. (It's not much of a surprise, but I hate it.)

What's Happening Now...
Earlier this evening I decided to work on my college applications (as well as check out another college I've been meaning to look at). As of right now, I've narrowed my results to 3. I have also changed what I wanted to major it (it wasn't too big of a change - I'm still going into the music field, but I want to be a music education major now). This I decided after I job shadowed somebody in the music ed. business. I had already started working a bit on teaching/helping out my band director, so I figured music ed. would suit me better than music theory. (I'm teaching a flute player how to play piccolo.)

As of this moment, I have my college future in sketches. By January I should have finished my applications for my 3 college choices, and in February I have three auditions (all on different Saturday's). Not only is February going to be considered my college audition month (so I have to work on three audition requirement lists - that's 7 flute pieces I need to learn; I also have to know my major, minor, and chromatic scales by memory to which, chromatic is the easiest form of scales to learn, so I have found out through my honors band audition practices), but I'm going to be participating in the solo and ensemble festival (as a solo flutist), and I have to keep my grades up (so I have less final exams to worry about in May, and have a good GPA).

It really stinks being a senior and having so many band-related/flute-related activities going on at once, and maintaining a good academic score. What may really hit me hard is, this semester I barely can manage myself with academics and music. I don't have that many conflicts happening between the two, but next semester, it worries me that I have too much going on at once that I'll up until midnight every night trying to keep up to task.

Does anyone know of any good coffee flavors? I have a feeling it may come in handy later on this year... (And I have never tasted coffee before; I've only had one flavor of cappuccino and I love tea.)

And while I feel like ranting, how many people have a sort of 'English grammar/spelling' pet peeve? I do. It annoys the heck out of me when people text or IM me and their grammar/spelling is way off. I admit, when I first started IMing people, I could care less about grammar and spelling, but now whenever/if-ever I'm standing over someone's shoulder/receive a message and there's bad grammar/spelling, I go nuts! Not only can I not forget what irritated me, I think of ways to let that person know "hey, you misspelled/used improper grammar here". I hate telling people that because I feel like I'm annoying the crap of them by saying something. What I severely hate is when people don't know how to use their, there, and they're, or your and you're, or even its and it's properly. Well, I haven't updated in a while, mainly due to school. But, I'm free at the moment, so here I am. There won't be any new artwork to upload for a while (probably not until my Christmas break, which is awhile away).

Anyway, I've been really excited this week. I've recently had my honors band auditions, and I'm now aware of my seating. I've been accepted and placed as 4th chair (which is like, amazing!). I was up against about 20 other flute players, and I beat all but 3. Haha, amazing I am, lol.

So, I have my music. I'm not the biggest fan of sixteenth notes, and so, my reaction to this music is like "NOOOOOOOOO!" and I whine. But I must admit, I'm liking the selections.

I've been thinking about my future, lately, too. I've decided to go into the music field. As to what exactly I want to major it, I'm not 100% sure.

Hehe; I love band.

What's Happening Now...
When I thought of marching band being over, I didn't necessarily think ahead to what my Friday night's were going to be like the rest of the year (or at least 'til December). This week has gone by fast, and today felt extremely boring and dull. I don't know what I'm going to be doing until the basketball games start...

What's Happening Now...
I found out this morning that we're not going to playoffs. And, although I'm gonna miss my high school marching band days, I'm really happy we're done. After last night's game (which we won, no shocker there), I didn't care about making it to playoffs. It's been getting to dang cold out lately, plus it rained, too.

Hehe, I know some people who'll be bummed to find out we're not going. But hey, it's cold and I don't feel like marching outside anymore.

My attitude towards concert band changes every year. I'm really excited this year, because there's this neat piece I want to play (in the spring) in which I get the solo (I won't let anyone else get it). I'm also very likely to get 1st chair this year (and if after auditions I don't, I'm allowed to challenge).

Oh, and yesterday I got my honors band audition music. I can already tell that I'm dead... My first etude is in the key of D major (which isn't bad; it's in 4/4 with a ton of articulation and dynamics, but the tempo is really slow - 66bpm), and the second is in A major (with a 6/4 time signature and staccatos on like, every single note).

What's Happening Now...
I am so ticked off right now. I had about 6.5 hours of sleep last night because of all the drama involving school. And besides, this week was extremely frustrating for me and a bunch of other people (primarily the band and choir directors, and senior band members). Last night was our senior show, and Thursday night was the fall choir concert.

For Thursday, I helped out our choir director with choir-relating things. I stuck around after school (until 8:45 that night) working. She'd been stressed the past couple weeks, so I volunteered my time to help her out.

I spent 14 hours straight at school that day. I arrived at 6:45am for jazz band, and left at 8:45pm after the concert. Luckily, I had off yesterday, so I slept in until 10.

As for yesterday, we had to cram a last-minute rehearsal before the game started to finalize our drills and music for senior show. We had to change our first song to one we knew well (mainly because our first choice sounded like crap). I felt relief after halftime that we were done and the show went smoothly.

I'd been stressed all week; another senior and I wrote the drills Monday during our study halls and we put the first drill (which was a giant '09) out on the field. Then there were so many complaints about the second drill Wednesday, we had to make a sudden change. I guess I should thank all the underclassmen for baring with us throughout the week.

Then Thursday morning, I sort of went off on the band director in jazz band because he had me transpose a couple songs wrong. I went from Bb Trumpet to C Flute, and to move each note up a whole step and add 2 sharps. Ah... What I found out was, I was supposed to add 2 flats and move each note down a whole step. That made me mad.

Then last night really frustrated me. Turns out a freshman said some mean things to a senior, which in turn, upset the entire band. I don't usually hate people, but what that kid said pushed the line. (And that's all I'm saying for now.)

What's Happening Now...
Indeed it is. That and taking on too much work to being with and you always end up putting it off until the last minute and you're up really late trying to get it done.

Ever happen to you?

It's a nice way to start off the first half of the semester. Right now I have:
1. A media film due (sometime this week)
2. A music class project due (next Wednesday)
3. An honors band application to fill out (due next Wednesday)
4. To catch up on my online class
5. Volunteer band work during study hall to do
6. College stuff to worry about
7. Senior show to work on (marching band)
8. Jazz band solos learn

Yeah, being a senior is no fun. As the semester goes on, I'll have more things to add to the list (as well as removing some). The worst is going to happen after I receive my honors band music that I'll be rehearsing and learning that for auditions in November - I won't have time to work on school stuff. And if I get accepted...

Then I have concert band auditions to worry about in November, too. I'm pushing myself for 1st chair this year. I won't give in without a fight.

So, no procrastinating. It only makes things harder.

Home
I got into an argument with my family yesterday. As a quiet person, I tend hold back my opinion. However, I found out that Friday both my siblings wore one of my shirts to school, which really ticked me off. I yelled at my youngest, and rummaged through my other sister's room and slapped her looking for the shirt my youngest sister wore. Oy. We all get upset when someone touches our stuff, yet we do it to each other. I don't. I have respect for their stuff, that, really, I don't think they deserve so much.

So yesterday my mom and I argued over the day's events. She ticked me off for about an hour, but I'm not the kind of person to stay mad. I get over the incident quickly. That doesn't mean I'll forget it, I just forgive.

Band
We had a band show yesterday, my very last one. The first half of the show was rather dull, I must admit. However, our rival school's band performed before us, and from them to the end, was awesome.

On the way out, we did our traditional 'chicken' to the percussion cadence. What made this the best chicken ever, was that even our anti-band members had fun. A friend and I were discussing this, and the guest band had played Thriller as their last song with the dance. We think it was Thriller that got them exited. For a rare moment in the band, everyone was happy.

As a senior, I'm going to miss my HS band.

And there were a few bands there that never smiled. Some of us were trying to get them to smile. We failed. lol I think we were the most relaxed band there. I found it funny.

Small Band Talk
Tomorrow we play our rival school. The band gets to deck-out in spirit clothes for the game. This game is always the fun one because it shows people's creativity and gets them in the spirit.

And I decided that it was time to treat my fellow flute people to a treat tomorrow evening. I wanted to make cookies, but due to a lack of dough, I'm making them brownies instead. They already know about it, and they're excited. Haha.

Weather
Sunday we experienced a really bad wind storm. It wasn't bad until about 5:20 when we lost power.

It was all wind. No rain; no thunder; no lightening. Just wind.

I have no school today because of the power outage. My home - and others in the neighborhood - recently got power back a little after 8 this morning.

Damage done? From what I can tell, a small tree fell into the middle of the road and one of our tall, healthier trees behind the house uprooted.

Health
Since Monday night, I've had this cold. It's been around the school for a couple weeks now and I finally managed to catch it. Wednesday I had no voice, and early this morning I could feel it fading away.

Small Band Talk
*Edit.* Yeah, it rained yesterday, the field was muddy, and we went in our band t-shirts, jeans, hats, and raincoats. I was generally happy

As far as band is concerned, I can still play. What bothers me though, is both the marching and playing. Wednesday I marched for about 45-50 minutes, and during that time, I felt like toppling over. It's exactly how I felt last Memorial Day - when I decided to march piccolo instead flute in FULL UNIFORM. Friday we're marching full uniform and I can hardly manage on a normal practice. My BD knows this, so hopefully the weather seriously looks like rain tomorrow or I'll be down.

What's Happening Now...

We are 1-1 as of yesterday. Our first game we won, but last night - what seemed like a victory just moments away, turned into our defeat. We lost by 3 points.

It was also Parents' Night last night, and seniors got off easy uniform-wise. Everyone else has to wear their full uniform, and seniors wore band t-shirts and jeans. I pitied the other kids; it was warm last night.

On the way home from the game last night, something hit me: I was a senior. This was my final year being apart of the band.

Of course I was exhausted, so that was where I left it. But I'm gonna my high school band so much. Joining a college marching band won't feel the same. For 7 years I've known the same director, 12 years (some just 6) I've known the same people.

Wow, I think graduation is gonna make saying good-bye to everyone sorta hard.

I won't want to be going that far for college, and I hope to join the college band. It just won't be the same.

Eh, I still have 8 more games - maybe more depending on if we make it to the playoffs. And I have the rest of the school year ahead of me. I shouldn't be sad (yet). I should just enjoy myself; make the best of my senior year.

Alright, Amy just had a whee bit of a scare yesterday. lol I'm actually okay with pre-game now. We ran through the first part, then I learned how to march the D. It's so simple, I feel like a total idiot for freaking out.

My director lead the way the first time. But the second time - by then I understood the concept of it, but I felt more comfortable with him leading for the second time. However, he turned me 8 counts too early in the drill (haha). Of course he realized his mistake but had me finish out the formation, which I did a decent job on leading myself.

I guess next time I shouldn't judge a drill until after I march it.

That is exactly what I am. One word: terrified.

Okay. Well, this is band-related, no less. When I woke up this morning, I feared that today in band, we'd be learning pre-game. What I know is that, in my now 4 years of high school marching band, pre-game is the one thing I dread. I don't know a marcher at my school who thinks pre-game is fun. It is dreaded by all.

Now, my mission today was simple: I ask my director if we were learning pre-game today. And of course, I asked him.

I sorta wished I hadn't. His answer was: Yes.

So I asked if we'd be marching the 'D' (the first letter of my HS).

And he said: Yes.

Yet again, I wished I hadn't asked. Since then, all I've been worrying about was pre-game.

Here's a little background. Every year, an upperclass flute player is transfered to piccolo for the marching season. The piccolo player becomes the overall section leader for the flutes, as well as a squad leader. Part of the piccolo's duty is to lead the 'D' drill during pre-game.

What's scary about leading the 'D', is that one person - the piccolo player - leads the entire band in the formation of a D. If she messes up, it's her fault. And the band won't let a mistake that big slide.

Yeah. It's pressure. Thankfully, we didn't get to the formation today. I have many freshman to thank for delaying that.

I survived day one. I'm not sure about the remaining months of this new school year...

Quite honestly, nobody was ready to go back. I know people who are starting the countdown until summer 2009 - and it's only been the first day back at school. A totally dull, boring, terrible first day.

I feel as though I've entered this rut that I can't escape. A prison, where I sit and stare at a chalkboard, learning new information I really don't feel like shoving into my head.

We've also got a football game this Friday, the band is nowhere near ready to perform, and the school building is full of students that don't wanna be there.

Just gimme a week more of summer. Then I'll be happy.

[Edit] CP was just a blast! I rode Mantis, Gemini, Raptor, Millennium Force, Maverick, Skyhawk, and Top Thrill Dragster.

Millennium Force and Dragster were two rides I vowed to never ride. Well, when one is with a group of thrill riders, one must ride those thrilling rides. And, oh boy! Was it amazing! And our last ride, Millennium Force, was really fun. (My group met up with our band director and we decided to ride MF with him considering it was getting late and we didn't want to get in trouble showing up at the buses late.)

And, wow... I got a major face burn yesterday. For some reason, it's my face that gets burnt, and nothing else.

Oh, and I felt soooo jealous of another band that was there. They had nine piccolo players, and two of the piccolos were colored (one red, and one purple). Aside from just that, they played two really cool songs (I'm unsure of the titles) that had my band dancing while we waited to perform.

Grr; I so jealous...

Right now it's 6:15 in the morning, I've been up for an hour already, and I should be leaving in about 15 minutes. Why? I'm off to Cedar Point! It's my final year in the band and my final Cedar Point trip (like that won't stop my try to get in next year). So, I'll be gone until late tonight.

So far, nothing special has happened today.

Band
We got our t-shirts (yay!) and they're so much better than my last three. I say, it's a major improvement from the previous shirts.

I'm the flute section leader as well as a squad leader of 4. So happy!

I have uniform fittings today. Bleh. I hate wearing those uniforms.

Art
What art? I've barely been able to draw lately. Hopefully that'll change soon. I'm thinking of taking a notepad (because I get bored) on the bus to Cedar Point next week.

Books
I need something to read really bad. But, I think I'll be heading to the store sometime this weekend, so I'll check out the book isle.

Day 01 of band...over.

I swear I thought we'd sound terrible. But, not so much. Yeah, the first day is never the best sounding since most kids don't practice over the summer.

I'm the only senior flute player - piccolo, actually - in the marching band (I won't be in concert band because we have a senior flute player in the majorette line and another in the drum line). It kinda stinks. I'm surrounded by underclassmen. But they're fun underclassmen (at least the sophomores are; I don't know much about the freshmen yet).

Well, I'm bored. I occupied myself with marching band stuff for about 45 minutes and now I'm bored again. It's getting to the point that I begin looking for trouble. Yeah... I get just that bored.

Last night I finished the novel Adam by Ted Dekker. I started the book at midnight the same day since I was up and had nothing better to do. Plus I finished The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was a bit hard to understand, but I did feel sad when Gatsby died.

Anyway, without a book to read and I'm already bored with my marching band music (I'd bet it'd sound better when I actually play with the band...). I'm thinking that I'll re-read one of the books I have on my shelf; I don't normally re-read something once I read it. I already know what's going to happen, so it takes the surprise away. I tried re-reading House by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti once... I got about half-way through before I decided to give up on it. It got boring.

I'm patiently waiting for August to roll around. I'm exited for the release of Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn, and then in September I'm waiting for the new Ted Dekker novel, Sinner.

Also, I have been a bit stressed lately. Which could be the reason why I've been having trouble sleeping at night. School starts in August, marching band starts in August, and being a senior in the band, I now play a key part as the piccolo player. Piccolos get major responsibility and there's only one at a time; I'm the flute section leader, and I lead one of the most important drills in the band. What I really get a kick out of is the beginning of freshman year when I learned that the piccolo lead this drill, I vowed to never take on that position. Now look where I am; 3 years later and I'm now what I didn't want to be. At least I know I'm good for the job; my director told me he wouldn't have agreed to make me the piccolo if I couldn't handle it. Still... I'm scared, but maybe it won't be as bad as I think.

Oh, and I've gone 7 months and 23 days without a single drop of pop/soda. I'm so happy. Now, if only minimize my chocolate intake... (I'm not overweight, nor am I underweight. I'm 'bout in between my min and max weight -- although I'm a lot closer to my min weight.)

Thursday: I get 2 bloody scratches (one is 3.5 inches, the second is 3 inches long - yes I measured!), and a cut on the bottom of my foot (how? I don't know). Hmm, my leg still KILLS!

Friday (er, yesterday): I run into the side of the pool backwards and smash the back of my neck into the railing. Oh...gosh. My neck is still hurting.

I've only been in the swimming pool 3 days this year, and 2 of those 3 days I've been hurt. It still has a way to catch up with non-pool accidents.

This summer I have:

2. Been punctured on the foot (left foot; two marks, similar to the two puncture marks a couple o' fangs would leave).
3. Received a burn mark from a dog leash (it bled a bit, too).
4. Fallen down the stairs.
5. Been smacked with a stick.

And I still have a few more weeks of summer left...

For one, I'm working on my sites (Brillant Lune, Flute Lights, and the new one, Star Island Online). I'm updating the first two with new layouts and stuff, and the third one is under development and won't be up until sometime in August (possibly early September). I've got the Home page of BL up how I want it, and I'm working on FL's Home page layout.

Two...I'm working on a story. Now I'm not the best writer, but I plan on finishing the story sometime and posting it. It's been something I've started back late last year and I've read, and re-wrote and edited just the few chapters I have already. It's still a rough draft, and you shouldn't expect to see in for a while yet.

Oy, for ze third I'm studying my major, minor, and chromatic scales. Studying the major and minor scales was something I decided to do so I could better round myself of the different musical scales and keys. Now, my director wants me to practice my chromatics so I don't have trouble playing accidentals on sight. Hehe. It's a bit of a problem at times, but I was working on solving that before any mention of the chromatic scale.

Hmm, and I gotta start running soon. Before August suddenly hits and I'm worn out after marching at band camp. I guess it's time to re-figure my summer schedule, eh?

I have to read The Great Gatsby before school starts (required summer reading ), I have marching band music to look over and practice (heh, I'm doing it only so those darn underclassmen don't give me a severe headache while we're all trying to learn something; believe me, those kids are gonna have a tough time learning a couple o' these songs - accidentals, tricky rhythms, annoyingly difficult fingerings - oh yeah, this'll be fun). I've already gotten down some notes and marked some places in Hey Jude that I'm sure will cause some mayhem in the flute section.

So, not much art will be posted. I may finish and post some I have done already, but it depends on how busy I make myself and if I can squeeze some time in.

Okay, so it's chilly outside today. School's canceled and I'm happy due to a Winter Storm Watch alert since yesterday morning. Wind chill yesterday was down to -15*F, and I forget the actual temperature. This morning, the temperature was at 4*F with a wind chill of -14*F. Currently the temperature is 3*F with a -13*F wind chill. Tonight we're supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow, and 3-5 inches tomorrow afternoon.

When school gets canceled for winter weather...that's when I like this season best.

Design your own Holiday Pony. Choose a holiday, whether it’s a major or minor one. Then name and design your pony based on your holiday. Make sure I know what holiday your pony represents based on its name and design.

1. Only one creation per person!
2. Name, design your pony based on your holiday. Make it as creative as possible!!
