The next December group trip will be to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. *drooool* What's a broke, travel-obsessed artist to do?

Now at my current school, I am now in the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Art) Photography program. Pretty damn exciting, and I have a new bar to reach concerning the quality of my work AND my ability to produce regular new work outside of class assignments. The next BFA meeting will concern choosing new work to submit to the juried student art show at the end of this month. Gulp. I haven't entered a juried show since high school.

Nerve wracking as it is, this is the perfect wake up call to pull out of my funk and really push myself. There's no better time to eat, sleep, and breathe photography.

PS: I love the new Critique feature on DA. I'm about to go crazy with this.

Jill Auville (*pahness) featured Barrier in her latest journal entry. It's got me all fan girly because she's one of my favorite artists on this site. Her page is definitely worth checking out. And while her work can come off as creepy and her page isn't bubbly and chatty, she responds to every comment and is a really nice person. She also has some wickedly awesome tattoos, hurrah!

Another artist ~powerdrill created a really neat painting referenced from my Grip modeling photo. His work:, my photo: It's the first traditional work based on one of my poses and I'm really flattered. He has many other gorgeous figure paintings in his gallery of both female and male nudes, which are under appreciated in my opinion. Check his stuff out!

In a few months, a few of my Indonesia photos will be up in a group exhibition in Napa and Bencia. They'll be up at Solano Community College at the end of this month. I'll have exact dates when I get them. I still need to have them printed, matted and framed, ah! Need to quit slacking!

I have a sub so I can feature thumbs and use fancy CSS journals again. Wee!

The modeling has kept me extremely busy for the past month. It's so much fun and fascinating to work with different people and see their unique set ups. In just a month I've been photographed from using simple window light to handmade strobes! And it's not just photos, I also posed for some drawings. Definitely want to do more of those.

But I am going to take a short break for the next week or two. Tristan and I got the key to our new house yesterday! So we may possibly be moving in next weekend. This break will be focused on packing, appliance shopping with my mom, and finishing up the school term. Once I'm all settled, I'll be prancing around naked again. And hopefully shooting more as well.

Everyone is talking about spam stuff being out of control, I haven't gotten any. Yay for being a reborn DA-noob?

I just sold my 580EX II, which is kind of saddening. On the bright side though, I can now pay some bills!

I'm also looking into some art modeling gigs for schools and individual artists. Give a shout if you'd like to hire me! I can also be a photo assistant for all your setup and grunt work needs. And I'd just like to not keep driving back to Fairfield to work 4 to 8 hours a week (yeah that's not a typo) at $11.50/hr for this silly state government of ours.

My moving situation is looking brighter. Our house is awesome and I'm going to have a kickass studio and darkroom area. The cats will even have their own room! We plan to close the deal around Feb. 20th and move sometime in early March. Dead to real this time! I keep laughing when I remember first believing I'd be all moved by January. Hah!
