Well, I've graduated from high school. (Yays!) Nothing left but NCEA exams, university, and then into the workforce.

An Update
Gah, I hate it when I forget to post anything here.

Well, I've been busy with a myriad of things. I've been working on Project Nelson, my fanfics, my website (and related to that, putting my fanfics on my website), a few games I develop in my spare time, and my comic, . And school. And reading tech websites.

Although, technically I probably should be studying for exams.

There's a lot of art in my backlog, and I'd like to get them done. I'll try to squeeze it in here and there.

Honestly, I can't remember. Is that a bad thing? Keep in mind that I was only ten years old.

I'll dedicate this space, instead, on what I remember afterwards.

I remember echoes of rumours that an aeroplane had crashed into a building, maybe at lunchtime. I remember a small television on a dolly; whether or not we watched the news reports or not I don't remember.

I remember seeing the news early the next day on CNN.

I remember clearly the photograph of the South Tower, engulfed in smoke, that was displayed predominately on the front page of the Western Leader (our local newspaper), captured by a photographer from Laingholm.

Photographs of young, sad children waving the American flag. Photographs of the rescuers, with the haunting imagery of the smouldering ruins as their backdrop.

Photographs of the hole in the Pentagon, and of the remains of United Airlines Flight 93 in a field in Pennsylvania.

I have all these in a scrapbook. I tried to collect newspapers, as many as I could find, and paste anything about the disaster I could find into it. Even though the pages are yellowing, I still have that scrapbook on my bookshelf, tucked away with a few issues of TIME. Perhaps I did it for a school project? ... I don't know.

At the time, I don't think I realised what had really happened. How do you explain death to a ten year old? It was an abstract concept, far removed from the minds of the young. I just knew something bad had happened, and people were hurt. People were no longer alive.

On that terrible day, eight years and two days ago, we lost many people. Many lives were changed. And so, come September 11th, we morn the lost. Not only that, we celebrate their lives. We wish them and their families peace. We lower our flags to half-mast to honour their memory.

A hundred years from now, when few are still alive who remember the disaster, would we still morn? Maybe. I certainly hope that we remember what happened, at least.

That day was a day of sorrow, a shadow that hovers over us, even though the shadows of the Towers hovers no longer. A blight, a smudge in the manuscript of human history.

But we can't let that stop us.

So, rest in peace, those soaring souls that were joined with the ground and sky. Wherever they may be, we have to hope they are finally at rest.

And as we stand, sit, walk and run, drive or fly or swim or boat, we remember them on that day.

We need to remember.

Not much - I'm finally working on CAB#8. Yay.

Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek - an update

As you may know, I've been silent on FanFiction.net for the last year or so. The main reason for this is I've been working on other things that have taken over my life - such as Project Nelson. But, I'm now finding time to work in writing sessions for my fanfics.

Let me be the first to say this - Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek is a mess.

The main reason it's a mess is that, while I've had a short set of milestones and plot overviews, I've been mainly making it up as I go, following my ideas towards these milestones. I found that as I went beyond the area covered by the first version, the story began to get windier and windier.

It's also taken waaay too long to get to the climax, and people aren't willing to browse through 45+ chapters - even if they aren't that long - to get the point. Part of the reason is that I only set myself an internal limit of at least two pages in Microsoft Word, and that was done. I didn't push myself hard enough. I ended up splitting the action where it would be tedious to do so, constantly switching between points of view (blame television for that) and places of action.

I have also improved my writing since 2006 when I first started, creating an odd rift of style between the beginnings of the fic and the latter chapters. While it's interesting to see the progression of my style, ultimately it serves only to annoy the reader.

So, recently, I've decided to rewrite the fic. Yes, this is the third time, but since I won't be changing the plot in a significant way, it should be easier. I've already rewritten the first two chapters. I'll be making cuts where I feel it's necessary, and rewriting parts I feel could be stronger or more descriptive.

I've also decided to continue the current version so I have a solid baseline from which to write - which, I feel, was one of the major failings of the current version.

Both versions, as well as the first version, I plan to put on my website at some stage, with notes and stuff.

So, the only thing I'm puzzled over is this: should I continue posting the current version on FanFiction.Net? Or should I start posting the new version in its' stead? (I wish I could do both, but alas, FF.Net has no way of posting drafts, and their policy forbids two different versions of the same thing.) Update: I've since decided to continue updating the current version until it's finished.

Any ideas or input would also be appreciated, if you want.

July 28th was my birthday! I'm now eighteen, which probably means I can (legally) drink. I guess I'd care if I consumed that much alcahol anyway. (It also means I can shop online! Yays.)

From my parents I recieved Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit, SimCity 2000 (both of which I've been looking for) and a DVD, A Boy Named Charlie Brown, among others.

I also got a one-month subscription from $Heidi, although I'm not sure whether that was because of the date or because of my humerous remarks on a recent poll. Anyway, much thanks, Heidi! ^^

Well, lots of things have happened since my last post - mainly, one year has passed, and we're back in winter holidays. I've been working on my website and Project Nelson, as well as a comic viewer, among other projects. Also, our school just had its' ball, which was great fun!

On Favourites

I've seen the opinion that favourites should be a private affair - there for the favoring artist alone to view. That's all very well and good (and it'd make my job of clearing my six-thousand-and-something devwatch all the easier ^^). Perhaps for some people it's too much of a "look at me and all my favs" thing.

Buuuut... it ignores the reason I favourite in the first place - the same reason I write posts about people, have a blogroll or draw fanart for artists who's work I like. _{^{(OK, that last one was merely inspired by another artists' work, but it still counts, right? ^^)}}

Here's my laundry-list of reasons why I favourite art:

Because I like the art: Well, duh. It's not like I go around favouriting stuff I don't like!

To show the artist I like the art: Favouriting art tells the artist that they've done good work, that they're going in the right direction, ect. It encourages the artist to keep drawing, to get better, ect.

To show other people I like the art: Favouriting art puts it on my front page, where other people can look at it, say "Ah, what great artwork!", and forget about me completely. This means more people can find artwork they like as well.

Ultimately, the people who brag about their favs all the time are jerks anyway and would probably be jerks even if the favourites system was scaled back. They'd just use pageviews instead (like everyone else ^^).

News and Other Stuff - ^{_{Winter Vacation, devART v6, devWatch}}

It's winter here in New Zealand. (Or, at least, it would be if the weather could make up it's mind about what season it really is...) We're in the middle of a short break from schoolwork before we go back in about a week. Yays! ^^

On a rather different subject, devART v6 is quite a neat upgrade. I especially like the new message center (AWESOEM-I-CAN-SEE-THOSE-PICS-I-FORGOT-TO-FAV-WAY-BACK-IN-2005~!) and the command bar-thingy.

Ponderings

Speaking of which, many of you will know of my devWatch dilemmas, as I have so documented over the years. The new Message Center allows me to really go back in time and see if I can get rid of some of that 6000-or-so-pic overhead. Which brings me to my question(s):

I hate just recieving favourites on pics without comments, and I'm sure you do too, so I always make sure to leave a comment if I +fav something. I also try and make the comment count for something, such as pointing out what I really liked about it, or thought could improve.

But, I wonder whether, beyond a certain point, such "constructive critique" becomes, essentially, useless: for example, if I point out how x-random-person could improve on a picture he did in 2005, or y-random-deviant in 2006, or indeed myself... (just pick a year, any year!)

So, what do you think, ne?

I also wonder why I can't just like a picture just because and leave it at that... but generally I think it's because I don't want to be remembered as that guy who popped in just to say "Hi that's sooooo kawaii desu~!", but the guy who gave someone some helpful advice that that someone will use later in their life. But that's a topic for another day.

News and Other Stuff ^{_{schedule, notes on friends/watchlist}}

Because of the multitude of stuff I do, I tend to be rather busy. Unfortunately, this means I often don't have time for the arts, my computer stuff, the stuff I read, and socialising with online people (i.e. posting on forums and the like).

So, I've decided to do something about it, in the form of a schedule. Tuesday and Thursday will be my art days, Friday for programming and the weekend for whatever comes to mind. Hopefully, this will result in more artyness at a more regular pace. Which is a Good Thing, btw.

Also, by now, you may or may not have seen the updated friends/watchlist; if not, I recommend you do so before reading further. If you have, you will have noticed a major change in layout, specifically the splitting of acquaintances and those who don't know me, and the addition of a short description of each of my friends.

There are a couple of problems with the current layout, including some imbalance in descriptions, the latter catagories looking rather squashed, and the suckyness of the descriptions. (Did I mention I suck at describing people?) Of cause, the list is subject to change.

Lastly, in putting together this list, I realised that I don't know as much as I thought I did about a lot of you guys. So, I'd like anyone who reads this to post at least one interesting fact about themselves. You don't have to do it, but it'd be nice.

Recently, the hard disk on which I had all my projects (artwork, fanfiction, website, ect) went kaput. I think it couldn't handle the heat (and I don't blame it...). So, anyway, my Christmas pic (as with just about everything else I'm doing at the moment) may be a little bit delayed than usual while I try and recover stuff.

Update: After trying a few things, I decided to run CHKDSK in BartPE. Turns out quite a few of the indexes were corrupted, and just needed a little fixing. Everything seems to be fine, but just in case, I've moved everything but my programming stuff and my art to our server (which I was planning to do anyway).

I also got my NCEA results from NZQA. I think I did well, and I got an Excellence in something I didn't think I would (my formal writing about how teenagers should learn another language).

Also, I get my test materials back in April, which means I can show you guys my static image. Woot!

I'm finally onto the colouring of Midnight Snack P1, in fact, I'm about two-quaters of the way through it. Night-time shading is both fun and annoying...

We've just finished our NCEA exams, and I'm anxiously nawing my fingernails waiting for the results. After which, I'll be nervously waiting for my static image and creative writing to make its way through "Quality Control"...

In early October, my little brother, the mischevious rascal that he is, decided to crumple up what was going to be my Halloween pic and ripped apart a practice sheet of characters. (He's 10, BTW.) Well, there's brothers for ya.

My birthday came and went on July 28. I am now sixteen, and legally allowed to obtain my restrictive driver's license. Yays. (Not that I'm going to get it, I want at least part of Auckland to survive...)

I've decided to put all my "stuff that happens"/"life" stuff on my blog, which means this journal will be more focused on my art and fanfiction. Cool? Cool.

As a) I'm an avid photographer, b) I didn't want to swamp you guys with endless deviations *ahem* *ahem*, and c) I want to display photos that aren't necessarily art, I've decided to add my photography to Flickr. Right now the only stuff that's up there are photos from late 2005, but in time I'll submit more.

I have exams from two days from now onward to the end of next week. Yays.

I'm working on quite a few things right now, including three (count 'em!) comics, one of which (a one) I just finished foreground lineart a few days ago, and thus is now having it's background drawn, one that I would have finished earlier had it not been for the file being corrupted, and the final one I've had scanned for the longest time but only started drawing two months ago. Meanwhile I've been still sketching, and there's a few pics I think you'd find interesting.

Hey.

Last Thursday we, as her form class and as her school, paid our last respects to Richelle Murphy, who tragically died in a car crash on Sunday 3 June. May her body rest in peace, and her spirit be happy, whereever it may be.

Next week is assessments again. Yays.

Hi.

I tried to do the "What You Didn't Know" segment, but it didn't come out the way I thought. So, I'm putting it on hiatus for the time being. Meanwhile, I've had some things going through my head. ^[skip]

I get the feeling that I've somehow alienated some of you guys, and have no idea why; alas I can only speculate. So, could you help me out?

If it's the lack of art, my apoligies, but I've got a heavier workload than last year. Besides, I've never produced art at any kind of orderly rate, so I would think my audience be used to it.

If it's due to commenting, I'm sorry, but I haven't had time to go through everyone's art and say something about it. I hope to get some done in the following weeks, but it's competing with school and the like. I've also become more... I dunno, analytical? But I can't just say two word sentances anymore for commenting, but I've got to say something about the picture. It kinda gets in the way, especially the stuff that I just like. I also make the case of not faving unless I comment (one thing I hate is favourites without comment).

Also, I apoligise if anything I have said has upset you. My opinions are my opinions, and you guys shouldn't take them personally.

If there's anything else, my notes are always open.

As announced above, I will try and get stuff commented and faved. I'll actually probably start with the stuff in my bookmarks, get that out of the way, and then progress on to my devWatch.

About my long absence, this was due to many things happening at once. First was my assessments, then Midnight Snack got corrupted, and after that I've been in kind of a digital artistic slump (i.e. although I've drawn some sketches since then, I haven't really felt like doing any digital art.) So I've been working on a variety of things, such as Project Nelson, my fanfics and my website.

What happened to snap me out of this slump was a multiplayer game on Age of Mythology over our home network. We were about an hour into it when my computer resigned me, for some reason. I had this bitter feeling inside so I decided to do something in order to drain said bitterness away. I opened up one of my sketches and started to draw the lineart. And it worked. Yay!

On a somewhat related (to the first part) note, my static image assessment was based on a story called Alex by Tessa Duder. I've achieved with merit, however I've gotta wait until Wellington QA sorts out whether or not they're gonna look at them before I can submit.

To the best of my knowledge, the information in this... article thingy is correct, but feel free to point out where I'm wrong.

Art Requests

An art request is simply that - a request for art. Generally, this means that someone will ask an artist to draw an image for them, often detailing the subject and/or settings. Many dA users allow unreigned requests, others put restrictions upon said requests.

Some such restrictions include appropriateness (e.g. no gore, blood, icky stuff, or stuff that would usually get a Mature sticker) or ability (e.g. if one cannot draw a character properly). Some restrict art requests to only winners in contests, and some take on requests as a living (i.e. for money, these are called "commissions").

My rules for an art request: it must be PG or below (in other words, if I have to put a Mature thingy on it, no go), and it can't be overly mushy. One may request only if they capture a kiriban.

Kiriban

No, kiriban is not some kind of ferocious animal lurking in the night... The word "kiriban" is the shortend form of the Japanese phrase kiri no ii ban, literally meaning "a single good number", or more accuratly, a round number. Over the years it has been irrevocably associated with hit counters, or, more specifically, the process by which a webmaster gives out prizes to those who capture a screenshot of a specific number on said hit counter.

Every deviantART user page has a 'page count', and so kiriban contests were a natural extension of this concept. The idea is that if someone took a screenshot of the appropriate page count, the artist would give them a prize, such as an art request/commission or a free subscription (for those artists with deep pockets).

To redundently repeat, if someone captures a kiriban of my page (the number will be specified in my journal), they will be able to request art.

I'm trying out a new layout for my journal. Firstly, to skip to the News section, click ^[skip]. Yep, that simple.

Here's something I prepared last Wednesday. Why I didn't do a "What You Didn't Know" segment is explained in News. Eh, I haven't done a quiz since July 2005. Be warned though: the following contains what could be considered as spoilers, but I wouldn't know if they really are or not. Interpret at your own risk. ^[skip]

Tempus Simia (Kim Possible)

I first thought of Tempus Simia as a kinda alternate story to A Sitch In Time - Drakken would (once again) try to steal the time monkey. Tempus Simia was first posted to the Alternate Reality Association forums back in April 2005, editing a few elements under the advisement of Phil Literate. A few days later it was on FanFiction.Net.

I had written five chapters by May, but, like Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek, I decided to rewrite it. In September, I put it in indefinite hiatus so I could focus on my Lilo & Stitch fanfics, where it remains to this day.

The Josh Mankey Story (KP)

Featuring Josh Mankey, the Josh Mankey Story was to tell us more about Josh Mankey. Got half a chapter, stalled on it, then merged the idea with Tempus Simia when I did my rewrite. Eh.

Seeing Double (Lizzie McGuire)

First published to FF.Net in early September 2005, Seeing Double was about Lizzie encountering strange things at her school. On indefinite hiatus as of late September 2005.

This is a story I thought of after the second time they showed Kronk's New Groove on Disney Channel. Seriously, I grabbed a slip of paper and scribbled the first half a chapter down. So... ya. Having gone through years of therapy, Yzma finds a loophole in the law, and enlists Kronk to help her exploit it. Trouble is, he thinks she's kooko. It's basically a interquel between Kronk's New Groove and The Emperor's New School.

Characters: What You Didn't Know

Unfortunatley, I don't usually mess around with my characters' persona that much, and I've never retconned it altogether (though I've noticed that a few people have with their characters...) Ah well, here they are anyway.

628

Not counting the alternate-universe 627, 628 was my first character. Yes, he's not exactly what ya'd call creative, but then again I thought in terms of a logical 'next step' from Stitch and The Series 627. Plus there's the cordical node implanted in his brain... er... I'm doing that 'give away too much information' thing again, ain't I?

He likes Chinese food. Go figure.

He also prefers to speak in Tantalog, but unfortunately he is forced to speak in English by his current situation, though he often mutters in Tantalog, and if he is exasperated, stressed, or angry, he will also rant Tantalogese.

628 is usually the one original character that I roleplay. (I also roleplay Jumba and Pleakley.)

After Lilo catches him (at the end of Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek), he's stored in a containment pod (called POCEDEX - the POcket ContainEr Device for EXperimental creatures - Jumba named it, Lilo abbreiviated it. Yes, it is a pun. Yes, I'm aware it's not very funny.) 628 escapes from it after an American tourist plays around with it, thinking it to be a toy Pokéball.

I once wrote a script for a promo about 628 based on the Finding Nemo Fishy Facts promo. It currently resides at the now defunct Stitch Freaks forums, though I may upload it here.

419 & 426

When I started chapter 17 of the current revision of Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek, titled "Mistakes", I wanted Jumba's ship to have a crew, three experiments to be exact. Two chapters later, "Chosen Ones and Nebulae", I decided to put them, or at least, some of them, in Astrophysics (that is, star charting, properties such as mass, atmosphere, ect).

419 and 426 make their first full appearence in chapter 21, "Ships and Experiments", and had changed location to Engineering. 419 was to be a technical type of person. She was to be short-sighted (which is particularily significant for an experiment, as most could see several spectrums - 419 could only see the light spectrum, and even then it was kinda blurry.) 426 was to be a kinda goofy laid-back charac... ]]>

Hey guys! I haven't been on lately, but I assure you that there is a very good reason for this, and I'm sure you'll like it. I hope to have it ready (read: useable, not easily usable or complete or anything like that) by the end of Nov, but it may go into the next month. I'm also hoping to release the next update of my website this month, but this too may go into the next as well. As I'm working flat-out on both these and Project Nelson, I haven't had much time to pop on here, or FanFiction.Net, for those who still watch me there (but don't review!). Ah well.

In the meantime, here are a bunch of stuff that ya probably didn't know about my fan-verse:

Fanfics - Lilo & Stitch

My first fanfic was called Lilo & Stitch: 627 Unleashed. Jan/Feb '05 was when it was worked on, but unfortunately it didn't survive my quasi-annual HDD reformat. (After this, I established the current partitioning system, where files are kept seperate from everything else.)

Basically, I wrote this before 627 aired, but after Amnesio. (Keep in mind that Disney Channel had only been launched in NZ in November 2004.) 627 was to look rather much like Amnesio, but was to be a brain-switcher, and the story was to be based in New Zealand. If memory serves, I had 627 terrorising Eden Park at one point, and the whole gang switched into eachother. I think I made a cameo appearence somewhere. The experiment in part was inspired by the Kim Possible episode Mind Games. I never published it (partially because I hadn't discovered FF.Net...) Also, it isn't in the same universe as The Series, or any of my other fics, which all refer to The Series 627. In a pic I recently drew which shows all my experiments to date, I redesigned 627 as a butterfly. Eh.

Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek was my second fanfic. Interestingly, it actually started as a short skit posted by me on the defunct TVTome on a thread for suggesting ideas for crossovers with L&S. I decided to develop this into a story, and, when I wandered into FF.Net, I had nine chapters. The original version started in the attic, and I only finished thirteen chapters and quarter-finished #14 (the later two never published). dragonfanman (now BlackDragon1588) started reviewing LSST in April, and in turn I reviewed The Devil's Hand. A lot of this version can be found in my scraps, where you can laugh at my wonderment of why HTML wasn't working in the stories, and subsequently BBCode (which also didn't work.) This version was based around the events of the Trek episode The Best of Both Worlds, with the gang meeting up with the dudes from the Enterpri... ]]>

OK, some apoligies are in order:

My apoligies to the members of the Ohana Means Family forum, for not going there enough. (On that note, I also apoligise to Stitch Freaks as well. And Disneys_LiloandStitch_Forum, for that matter.)

I'd also like to apoligise to those subscribers I watch for not commenting on their journals - I subsribed to their RSS feed as a way of clearing my messages, but when I had to uninstall Internet Explorer Beta 2 to install Beta 3 (which refused to install at all), they got lost and I never got round to replacing them (when I finally got B3 to install.)

Now, a question directed at my (former) reviewers at FF.Net... what did I do to make you hate me?

On Monday in Science we disected a cow's eye.

A few weeks back I discovered something. 'Twas when we were driving home from school, listening to a casette tape, when I heard that rather distinctive startup...

We had Windy - The Association on casette and I didn't even know. (I know no-one cares, but Windy has become one of my fav songs.)

The casette mentioned above is one of four in the Drivin' Hits 'album', which I have mostly transferred to computer. (I just need to get off my lazy caboose and seperate them into tracks...)

I've got a laptop! That's the main reason I haven't been on teh internet much... for more info, check out meh blog post Go Go Gadget Laptop! (Forgive the Inspector Gadget reference, I couldn't resist.)

One good thing that has come out of my new-found mobility is that as of late I've been working more on my fanfics, meaning I'll have more stuff up soon, and more on my website... the downside is that I haven't worked on my digital art for two weeks... ho hum.

I've finally finished Soaring High. Actually, I finished it two weeks ago, but I've been since distracted by other things. But, in light of recent events, I'm not going to submit it. Not yet, at least.

I sketched Soaring High back in December 2005. Since then it's been a roller-coaster ride to completion. But now, I'm not sure. Comment, if you will, with your opinions.

I'm not saying I'm not going to submit it. I just wish I had two weeks ago.

The holidays are over... naww! Oh well, at least I've got ITC to look forward to...

Eh, ~20 people watch me, and I only get two comments per... thingy. Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose?

Disney Channel aired Stitch Has A Glitch on the first of July! *screams like a crazed fangirl... er, boy... whatever.* It was teh awesome! And... well, tears don't often well in my eyes... 5/5!

Well... I've brought home meh art folder, which I may/may not scan. (Depends on how lazy I am... ) Yeah... I've been taking art at school for teh last semester.

Who hates mid-year exams? Meh. And not just because I leave everything to the last minute... Today I had meh Jap speaking test, and the first of three English exam periods. We have to do a formal essay, reading comp., static images, novel questions, typical stuff. Eh, meh first journal of the year. Meep. And this time I wrote it out in Notepad before Internet Explorer 7 could crash... haha, take that! Who's bad? Bring it! (and no, it's not IE7, it's that everything crashes on this machine... even Firefox... eh.)

Wow, I've been on dA for over a year now... cool.

I've finally uploaded the latest version of meh website, with a new look... See MarkKB's Web and tell meh what you think! I'm also experimenting with RSS...

My mum bought me a new camera! 2.9X optical zoom, 4MP, xD card... the only thing she didn't tell me is that she wiped meh bank account to do it

She also bought a (relitivitily) new COMPAQ computer for herself... it's got one of those 9-in-1 card reader! Yays... and I just adore the flippy-lid of the CD-RW slot...

'Tis Term 2 of school... yeah.

School is officially over! (Well, it was officially over Friday at 3pm, but teh journal messed up, causing a blank 'un to be submitted, and I only found out Saturday...

Bring in the spammers! These last few months it's been deviantART Wars: Attack of The Spammers (pardon the bad pun), and it looks like it's the stormtrooper effect all over again... but yeh never know... my recommendation (as with others) is to ignore what they're saying and report teh spam to TOS Violations. Don't take what they're saying to heart. They're just big bullies anyway.

Eh, I've only been spammed once, in meh Deviant Comments, which I only noticed after ~Xperiment624's 'despamming'... thingy. (I appreciate the effort, but maybe I should do the next one, eh?)

To more... interesting news (depending on your view of interesting, which is most likely different to mine ), Microsoft has released a new build of Windows Vista, 5259. Paul Thurrot already has several pages of screenshots, and will probably have a review out later. What I find interesing is that the EULA and splash screen still refer to themself as "Windows Codenamed Longhorn", but the rest of everything else says "Windows Vista"... oh well...

Microsoft Windows Codename Longhorn (yes, I'm still calling it that) Build 5219 has been released to developers (OK, so it was a week ago, big woopdedoo) and from what I've seen, after seven years it might just be going in the right direction... for more info, see Paul Thurrot's SuperSite for Windows Vista Showcase and Microsoft's Vista homepage. (No, I am not assosiated with or sponsored by Microsoft or Thurrot.) IE7 is lookin' great too, it may actually be better than IE4! (Who out there agrees with me that IEs 5&6 shoulda been point releases?)

[EDIT] Yesterday was the premiere of Lilo & Stitch: The Series' 2nd Season! BOO-YA! Finally, NZ/AU can watch the latest adventures of the X-duo! jark), the co-founder of deviantART, otherwise known as The Yellow Alien, has been ejected from the corporation. An official response was posted by CEO Angelo Sotira ($spyed), which can be found here.

This has called uproar amongst the community, as reflected on dA's Wikipedia page. Many people have come to jark's support, spawning dozens of jark-related art and journals. Two major events are set to tomorrow, the 7th of August, dA's 5th birthday - Yellow Day, organised by `krash, and Silence Day, organised by `onestar. A poll has been set up here, with a 94% majority vote for "Yes". SIX "I Support Jark" groups (that I know of) have been set up, and spyed has been drowning in criticism.

My time at dA has been a rollercoaster ride. I've met people halfway across the world and beyond - connected by a strand of copper wire. For years this place has been a community unlike anything the world has ever seen. But when people try and oust out the community and turn it into a corporation, the community will respond... sometimes harshly. But others seek creative ways of sending the message across, and this is what I recommend - don't go up to spyed and call him various things which I wish not to discuss here. If we decend to the level of swearing, namealling and other such acts, are we not just as bad as the people responsible?

No matter what, deviantART will remain a community, and that's one thing that won't change. ]]>

There seems to be some confusion about my MSN email address.

The reason I put my address in the MSN Messenger section is because I am a MSN Messenger user. (Yes, you can use email addresses other than Hotmail with MSN!) That's pretty much the reason why, if you try and send me a message, it never gets replied to.

Why am I suddenly posting this? I only just installed Yahoo! Messenger for my mum, and decided to log on for a bit, just to shake some dust off the old account. Imagine my suprise to see 29 offline messeges, dating from March 1st to about a month ago, and 5 people wanting to add me to their friends.

(Though, now that I've installed it, I might as well use it...)

EDIT: Y!M just crashed, so I couldn't accept everyone's "add to friends" things...

EDIT2: I think I got everyone, if I didn't get you, just drop a note...

My subscription has run its course. Oh well...

As those who watch me over in FanFiction.Net know, the fanfic known as "Lilo and Stitch's Star Trek" has been completely redone, as I've almost completely changed my writing style. But I'm back, and I've got some stuff to share with you.

You may have been wondering what happened to the "all Paint" image I was creating. I've decided to put it slightly on hold, but I'll be sure to get it finished soon.

However, I do have some images ready for uploading and will do so without delay.

On second note, let me share a conversation that I had with some people in my Jap. class.

I was showing them a bit of my artwork, when I came to my sketch of Dr. Drakken looking clueless, someone rightfully pointed out that that was from Kim Possible. She then said she didn't like KP. Which I can live with. But she didn't stop there. She then said that her little sister watched it, and that it was a kids show. (What do you think we are?)

And it would have been alright if she had left it at that, but she then went on to say it was more of a kiddie show than Teletubbies! That was the worst thing I have ever heard, and it's so far from the truth. ]]>

It's my second day of Japanese (that's right, I'm taking Japanese.) It's been OK so far, sensei is teaching us the basics of Japanese (greetings and such.)

I've been finally getting reviews and such from my story on FanFiction.net (Lilo & Stitch's Star Trek.) That's the good news. The bad news is that they removed it. Reason? "interactive, chat/script, real person, mst, and etc." I am reminded somewhat of what happened to and Aviation.net. There were 10 chapters in that story. Around 6000 words. Guess how long it will take to edit, reformat and resubmit. They could have just warned me where the problem was and allow me 48 hours to fix it...

But at least I've still got "Tempus Simia"...

Anyway, I've drawn up a "Star Trek: Voyager" comic strip called "When Two Cubes Met." When I finish editing it, I'll upload it. ]]>

Friends and Other People I Watch
The majority of descriptions for "Rockin' Friends" were written on the 20th and 21st of December 2007, with three of them written on the 8th of January 2008, and three more written, and one revised, on the 19th of February 2008. General reorganisation on the 7th of January and 19 February 2008.

These are the people upon whom's art I watch with unblinking focus, then don't comment upon because I can't think of anything to write. I might know them well or rather little, and their art may be superb or stinky, but I enjoy their art and company, and you will too... or else.

People who watch me back are bolded, and the dates they started to do so are in ^superscript. Although I don't think any less of those who don't watch me, 'cause they're still awesome.

I reaaaly suck at describing people, so my apologies. If I haven't given a description, it's not so much I hate you as I don't know you very well.
