_{Well this is proabably the last chance for me to say I won't be around till August. I'm off to holiday, vacation, whatever you call it.

Just some bad news about that. My relatives which were going to meet up with during the holiday proabably can't come. My cousins grandmother burned part of her house down so they're trying to sort out that with a large amount of difficulty. A shame, but it can't be helped.

Still haven't decided where we're going to sail to, so we're proabably just going to choose on each day. No problem with that, just as long as we get back in time for the flight home!

So yeah, loads of pics hopefully when I get back. Later.

I'll be disappearing for 2 weeks starting Monday 17th. During this time you'll not see anything from me but I'm sure I'll have some great stuff to show you when I get back. Since I'm bare boating in the Ionian Sea (going it alone with family, wherever we want), I should have a varied amount of shots for you.

At the moment I definitely know that I'll be in Corfu, Lefkas and probably Prevaza. We'll be stopping off somewhere new every day which means fresh new photo opportunities!

Can't wait to be in Lefkas again, where I hope to be on my birthday. Every time we visit a particular restaurant there, the owner always remembers us. It's comforting that although we are only there once or twice every 2 years, we are somewhat remembered. If I remember right his daughter goes to University here in Scotland, Stirling if I'm right..

Concerning the living conditions - somehow we managed to get a brand new 40 ft yacht for the price of a 20ft. It's a bit large for what we need, and I mean LARGE! But since we got it cheap from a person we know, let's just say it will be roomy - and fast.

In total we should have about 7 people with us my family and also our Greek relatives. We aren't quite sure if they are coming this year, but I'm optimistic that they wouldn't miss going sailing with us again.

Cameras

Some of you are aware that concerning my photography, I believe strongly that it's the photographer that makes the picture - not the camera. Nonetheless, I have been thinking strongly about going full fledge into the Digital SLR Field. I've been finding that my current tools are limiting me a fair amount (the telephoto lens thing on this camera sucks!). So I picked up my August version of Practical Photography and browsed around. This is when I found something intriguing. The Pentax *ist DL2 with standard kit lens. The one thing that brought me to this camera is it's price - £349.99 with lens. Now it's not too bad. I'm going to look into it, as I don't want to follow the majority and get a Canon EOS 350D, even though they are well made.

DeviantART account - IMPORTANT

I'm thinking of moving to a different account in August. This is mainly because of my, and others, overall disgust and crappiness of my current name. So Ive created one which is a bit more relevant to my current info. I do it now because my subscription is ending the day after I go on holiday, so I won't miss it. The new one will have the subscription, and they'll be no turning back.

I will add all of you who I find interesting and friends. I'm sorry if I do not add you but with ever changing interests I may/may not like what you have to offer.

Drawing

Whoah, Ive been busy. I have been supposed to be practicing for my AH Art - sketching up a load of different work so we have examples, but I have not. I've been practicing on my drawing in more cartoony like ways - In both comic style and a little anime. I'm still crap as hell drawing hands and feet - but only practice will get rid of that. I also need to work on expressions. Ive been really inspired by what Ive seen in the Grand Theft Auto 3 poster I have on my wall and some comic artists Ive seen on the web. Have a little looksey at some of my inspiration and work near my desk below.

_{So I managed to persuade my computing teacher to unblock dA from the school's iGear content blocking thinghy. Damn awesome.

Anyways - I'll soon have some stuff up for the makebeleive company called EcoZon. My art teacher dosen't exactly know about what I have to do so at the moment I've decided to keep to a particular topic - a company interested in preserving the rainforest. Fairly simple.

So at the moment it's just identity formation - I've created the logo which is kinda cool. I've made 3 different variations and it might be good for you to vote on which one I should use. I made the business card yesterday and I have no idea what I'm going to be doing today (next period). Need to print out the business card but hell, that won't take more than 5 mins - even on a G3 Power Mac (slooowww as helll - and 192 mb RAM!)

At this rate I woud've finished the design before the end of the term! Well, mabye not.

So it's back to school tomorrow after my exams. So I've got 6th year induction. Damn - the last year of school has begun.. Scary. Least I've got my summer holidays in less than a month.

My site's almost finished. Still needs a little tweaking in the code to get my design finished. Had to learn a few little more snippets to learn how to use the Content Management System, which is a bit annoying but it should be finished within a month (Since i'm back at school and with little time)

I was introduced to the works of Andrezej Dragan which is a great portrait photographer - and it made me stop and think WOW. It's made me think of doing a little more portrait photography from now on.

And I'll be making myself a Do It Yourself Ring Light which will be great for stuff like portraits. So look out in the next few weeks.

And by the way, 2o-negative , what do you want for the 5000th view?

_{So it was an interesting day today, with open classes which I just mainly revised for english - apart from in english (where we got to go outside for an hour!)

So, that's all my 5th year classes over - and I begin my final year in high school in June, which is sweet. But now for the exams, which is like inviting hell for dinner.

I have a lot to revise for my english exam tomorrow, but at 3 (managed to get home early) I decided to get a nap so I could concentrate a bit better, and just get an hours kip.

3 hours later I wake up. I freak out and I can't think straight. So I'm a bit wierd at the moment.. I just hope I can get to sleep tonight with the amount of sleep I got. I'm thankfull my mum woke me after a while, otherwise I'd get no revision done.

Out of all my subjects, English and Maths are the ones I'm scared about.. I just don't feel ready - plus I'm terrible at maths.

_{So my Higher exams start on Friday.. god i'm in for a hell of a ride.

First, I've still not remembered all of the quotes for the 7 different texts that I need to write about in the exam (only two of them are needed, but I need backups according to my teacher). I haven't even looked at checking if my close reading is up to scratch either.

And the exam is on FRIDAY!

I'm not looking forward to it at all.

And then I have the other ones, Physics, Maths, Art, Computing. The last two aren't that bad - and should be ok.. Apart from in my prelim I got Art movements and artists mixed up during the exam.. Still managed to pass it though - but I'm looking for a B or even an A if possible for the Art School a year from now, and for taking advanced Higher art next year.

PANIC!

Anyways, if anyone's interested, I'll tell ya how they are going one at a time when I do them.

On a sidenote...

Isn't it nice when you get your ownback on art theifs? Yeah, ~In-Vein was stealing a pic called Blood Bath Duckie from a great webcomic artist, Mohammd Hawque ~HawkStudios. So the guy's got rid of the pic now, which is good... I'm sure I'm not alone getting mad at people who steal others' art.}

So, that's me handed in my Higher Portfolio for Art - after finishing most of it this morning.

If there's one tip for anybody taking higher art next year - DO NOT leave everything to the last minute - it's not good.

The self portrait is rather good i think, but the planning sheets are hardly the busiest things around, and I have no idea how well i'll do. I hope it is well as I want to take advanced higher art next year.

I wasn't the only one with problems - one of the people who i've known since ever, David Coutts, has his painting either lost by the art head, or somebody's taken it. Who would ever do that! He had to start and finish an entire painting by lunchtime today. Owch.

Plus, I'm doing terrible in higher maths.. I had by 2nd preliminary exam yesterday and today- and I did terribly. I'll have to step up to do good or even pass it..

Only a week till my english exam. Week after that I have maths and physics. Then my art writing and computing after that.

Not looking forward to any of it.

I tried out the Canon 20D digital SLR today - it was a friend of my dad's.

it was... awesome to say the least and there's such a difference between a slr-like and and slr - which you would expect. But i just loved it. But the price - £600 or more on ebay.

Still want to save up for a digital slr though (the 350d) - definitely (wait till october proabably!)

Sorry.. I was just happy.

It was... good.

I was a little late in getting there - train trouble, but I managed to meet up with them at McDonalds. After we all got something to eat, we went off to the lighthouse - an art gallery in Glasgow. Spent quite a bit of time here - looking at different stuff, climbing up the spiral stairs to the top, taking hundreds of photos, and seeing how many deviants we can fit in the lift before the weight alarm goes off (11!)

After wandering around another shopping centre, we decided it'd be good to go to the Barras - which lead us to the remanents of some building that seemed to be demolished, and every deviant climbed the scrap to get a good group shot.

We walked to Glasgow Green, and then some - until somebody decided to ask "where are we going!!?!?!" Then we decided to walk back to town, got another McDonalds, where some of the deviants split up from the group - while the others wandered off to the pub.

It was good...}

So.. I've been awesomely lazy lately.. Mainly because it's like, the Easter Holidays.

One thing that awesomely bugged me is that I had this awesome idea for a picture at one of my favourite places, Elie. There's this wonderful bit called 'Lady's Tower' which is a great and very photogenic place. And last weekend I planned to get up early enough to get the dawn picture I've been begging for months to take.
But I was lazy. The Easter Holidays can do that to people. And I paid for it.

Someone got there before me. You can't really see it there but the magazine cover is of the Lady's Tower. Somebody got there before me. Sure, loads of photographer's proabably go there, but it's given me a bit of a push. It seems more than a coincidence that when I go, but don't do it, I find this on the cover of my most read magazine. Wierd. Divine Intervention? Mabye, if you beleive in it.

I'm still going to go - if it kills me. lol.

So now I'm going to get busy :

Finish off digital painting.
Finish off self portrait for school.
Finish off Design work for school.
Go to the ZOO and take some pretty pictures.
Finish off school magazine design (The High)

It's half way though the easter holidays and I've been really busy revising (as if!).. But I've been doing some sweet sketches and I'm still finishing the self portrait for school (but this time in acrylics) and I'll show that to you as soon as I've finished it.

I've hardly done any photography in ages, no idea why. Sure, i've been busy but I have been doing hell loads of drawings, which I'll proabably show you soon.

Meh.

And my graphic tablet's acting up. Damn it. I'll figure how to help it.

_{So, Apple has introduced Boot Camp

It's a piece of software, which when installed on the new Intel Machines, will let you use Windows XP on your system.

It's good in some ways - Apple has already noticed an 8% stock rise since it's release and it'll allow more people to switch to the Macintosh platform, since they can use both systems.

It also means that they'll be more people enthusiastic to drop down their crap looking PCs.

But is it all it's cracked up to be? The Macintosh platform is wonderful in itself, and introducing a foreign OS, especially Windows, is like, well, putting poison in food. IT'S NOT RIGHT! That'll mean that you'll get all the crappy errors and the lark from you pc, just on your mac. It's stupid.

I won't be doing that anytime soon. (even if I had an intel mac)}

_{Well I forked out an expensive £30 for an Infared Filter for my camera, and I can't wait to try it out - the only problem is that there's no foliage around at the moment for the filter to be used to it's fullest.

This weekend I'm going to a city farm in Edinburgh. Should be interesting to get pictures of all the animals, and if their parents don't think that a pedo, the interactions of the children with the animals. But that'll only be good if the weather's ok.

I also know that some of you will have been thinking my site, Fused Reality Studios will be online. Well the design's almost finalised and it should only be a little while to develop it all. Should be up sometime this weekend.

_{Dunno if you'd notice or not, but I havent posted anything for ages, and I thought that I should apologise.

I've been awesomely busy - from my website (which still isn't finished - but hopefully tonight), my school's website (which seems to get more busy each day), DVD cover comission, and now will get even bigger since I'm supposed to be doing the graphic design to my school's magazine. And did I forget that I'm supposed to be doing revision to my final exams which are coming nearer and nearer!

So, that's my excuse.

But I've got a plan to get on top. I've got a few 'days out' planned which should be good on a nice sunny day (so not today). First, the zoo. I've successfuly shot animals before in fairs and in the country and I beleive them to be quite photogenic. Plus, in the springtime - I'm sure they'll be loads of new borns. Then hopefully another destination, the city farm. This one is free, and it would allow me to get really up and close to the animals. But I'm not sure yet. I also want to find some fairs or protests which are in edinburgh - as they are exellent oppertunites, but nothing yet.

I also want to do some portraits! Really I'm dying to do some, but nobody to do for them. lol, mabye i'll ask my sister.

Well enough of me ranting - I have work to do.}

Drawings and the Lark
No Outgunned today - but I've been practicing with my tablet, to hopefully give you a better experience reading it. I'll have some of the sketches up later if you're interested.

GOD DAMN IT!

My sister tripped on my tablet cable when I wasn't using it and I didn't see any problems. Only now do I find out that the usb attachment has been screwed up and the tablet isn't working.
Let's hope I'll be able to fix it - i luv my tablet.

_{I'm soooooo bummed right now.

I just spent the whole week awesomely busy - with hardly any time for myself. The one problem - that's what it's going to be like for the next few months. It's going to be hard to handle.

This weekend was a bit eventful, but full of work.

From Friday till about 12pm today I've been working on my dad's site. Most of it's pretty sweet - flash banner which transitions in. That's kinda cool - but realatively simple to do.

I managed to fix all the flaws in teh website and put up all of the dummy text - and it's looking good.

All I need is the major info from my dad, and it's set to put up.

The Outgunned script is complete. I'll be working on the sketch tonight but I don't know if I'll colour it. I'm just too busy.

And on top of that I'm working on my own site - I'm changing the look for the capabilites of my new server - which I'll be getting next week.

And I just figured out how to fix a major problem with my school's website - that'll take hours to do and a little extra in the designated time i've got. Great.

----

And after all of that, I don't have time to do any photography - that's the major bummer.

Exams Over / Outgunned

Ah. All my exams went ok, apart from English Critical essays - and my maths calculator was fairly hard.

Only time will tell if I've passed them.

I know I've been very unloyal towards my comic - for a few reasons.

* I've been busy revising - which has ceased all enjoyable activities.

* I had no internet for a while, that caused me to not touch a computer for a while.

* A school commision - which I'll be showing you soon.

But I've almost completed it and I should be finshed sometime today - If I'm not, shoot me.

Photography

I've really needed to go out. I often visit an area of Scotland called Fife, which can have some really picturesque views. I've not been for a few months - and I've really missed it. So I'll be going next week and I hope I'll bring some spectacular photos - I've got one already in mind.

Ok.. I done a really sterotypical male thing today..

We were getting WiFi installed, since we're getting a notebook with wireless very soon, so I got the kit and connected it up.

An hour later, it's still not working - I'm tweaking with all of the settings on the computer, just wondering what the hells up!

And and hour after that, I find the instruction manual. What a dumbass. The answer was right in your face.

So don't forget, always use the instruction manual. (unless it's a McDonald's kid's meal toy)

Fused Reality Studios is still not working - the web people haven't got back to me yet.

Revision's a bummer. We've been having some good weather (for once) and I had to stay inside. Plus I can't seem to concentrate.

The redesign to fix a few bugs is still underway.. I've got quite a bit of CSS to code tonight.

It's one of these friend sites - but it's half decent.. It's got the feeling of a massive chat and forum, while you can connect to your msn, yahoo, aim etc. plus you can have your own blog and share photos. So it's a bit like flickr too.

I like it. And I havent seen any limits yet. I uploaded 109 photos on Wednesday no problem whatsoever. And it works on Mac too.

I've been experimenting with the reverse lens method - which is pretty sweet. Which means I'm using a way that'll get things over 10x their normal size on the screen.. I've been using watches and they've all come out fairly sweet.

Internet has finally been installed back at home so I can now access deviantART yet again!

Comic
I'm going to make you have to wait till christmas for the first issue or two.. It'll help me sort out some of the problems I have and develop the characters more. Plus I need to learn how to colour in fireworks all over again.
But I should have the poster for the comic ready for dA by the end of the week.

Photography
Updates are coming.. It's been a while since my camera has been outside. But I may have a few winners.

Graphic Design
I've been creating mock-up posters for my Art and Design course at school and they're almost finished. I'll give you a look at them in the next week or two. They had to be based on a botainical theme - so I made posters that would be for an Art Gallery in the Royal Botanic Garden. in Edinburgh. Thankfully I'm able to use my own photography as a resource for my posters!

I only just remembered how much I HATE inking on the computer.. I hates it i say! Plus I need to work on one of the main characters - she dosen't look rite at all.

My school's website that i've been working at with some of my friends and it's starting to get put up soon.. We've added a few more features and easy to navigate, but it's not complete yet..

If you have any ideas what students would like on their website, i'd like your ideas..

Photography
Yeah I've not done much.. I know.. Should have some as I'm going away for the weekend and I'm going to spend time in a forest for a change.. Should be good (if it's not raining or gale force winds like it is now!)

Comic
I've not put up any sort of comics or character sketches for ages.. So I'm going to work this weekend on getting some stuff done.. I'll do the sketches and inks while I'm away and have a coloured version for you when I get back! I've missed doing this stuff. It'll be the 3,000 pageview thanks, but will continue and I'll proabably put one up every week.

_{So, what the hell am I talking about today?

Well, I was thinking about why I like photography and it hit me.. I love photography because of the way it can capture emotion forever. These photographs strike me the most and which I remember time after time.

Then I thought to myself, I hardly have any photos which convey as much emotion. So i've decided that I'll be working on that in the months leading up to Christmas.

I changed it slightly, to show my icon and myself.. May need to speed it up a little.. But I'm tired tonight, so i'll do it tomorrow.

Art

Started work on my graphics.. I'll pop up a few once I start.. I have to have all of my ideas in by tomorrow which means I have a lot to do! But work'll start on the final pieces sometime soon..

School

It's still a lot to get used to.. I'm having tests all the time now and I have an English Textual Analysis the day after tomorrow. I've got a section of my maths to resit, and it's a lot of work to keep up... All I can do is hope it gets easier...}

Xbox 360 Hour Tour

I went (yet again) to Glasgow today. Went with a friend to the Xbox 360 hour tour.. It was great.. I can't wait till it comes out! I'll need to beg for one for christmas though.. and beg i will.

It was great fun.. I saw some of the new games, including Perfect Dark Zero, PGR 3, The new Tony Hawks, Dead or Alive 4 (I think), NBA, and a few other games I can't remember the names too.. I'll have a write up of it soon though.. look out for it.}

Tomorrow's DevMEET in Glasgow should be fun.. The only problem being that I couldn't get any more interested in travelling to Glasgow.. Well there was one, but he thinks that he should become more 'better and active' before meeting others.. It's understandable.

Since nobody else had any interest that they've told me about, I won't be waiting. I'll just get on the 11:15 train to Glasgow Queen street.

Just wanted to remind all of the Edinburgh deviants that the mini devMEET is this saturday at Glasgow (George Sq.). Anyone wanting to meet up beforehand to travel together tell me and then message =phoenixq telling him that you're coming..

It'll cost £8.20 to get a cheap daily return to Glasgow (damn they raised their prices). If anyone else does come then we'll meet up outside, let's say... by the information services in the station at 11:10 (i'll have a sign), so make sure you're there by then. And don't forget to tell me you're going!

Any under the age to drink we should be finshed by six.. I'll be gone by then since my uncle's coming up from Bradford and I've got to be at uptown Edinburgh at around 7. It's up to you if you stay or not.

~mein-teil did comment earlier that their is a deadline in the cheap daily return.. I just checked and it seems like it's ok any time on the day of purchase. So no problemo. Only problem is that they've raised their prices. all can be read here

Just my life, nothing you need to read

My sis broke her ancle this weekend! It's kinda funny but it also means that I've got to go an look after her! Thankfully school's starting up so I'm able to be away some of the time. Shame that this also means getting back into the act of learning, and I only wish I had another week off..

And it's almost 8 pm and I havent started any of my homework.. Well, it's only really one peice but it's maths (not my strong point) and it's 4 pages long and it's full of stuff I've forgotten since the holidays! What's up with me and leaving stuff to the last minute!

Yes, I have noticed the lack of new deviations in my gallery.. The truth is.. I've just not felt like going out for a shoot. Planning to do some more studio-like shots tomorrow or later tonight though for your viewing.

Yes, it's the holidays.. But that dosen't mean I'm less busy than I would be.. I'm working on my web design skills at the moment and I've learnt the basics of CSS. I'm thinking of learning some PHP soon..

Completed one website - a redesign of my dad's.. which looks alright.. It's simple but it's the way he wanted it, but I did add a little style in too.. (Tis my first website with CSS)

The other website is in my gallery, and is for when I move some of my more corporate stuff onto it's own server. It's still being thought over and any critique would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.. I have noticed that my pageviews have been approaching 3000.. and the celabratory animation is coming, as soon as I start on it.. I'll open up flash and start animating (hopefully) tomorrow morning.. And horrah! It should hopefully be done by the end of the week..

Ear infections are the worst.. I've got one right now.. Darn my proneness to them!

Submitted some of my pictures to a Enviromental photography contest.. The AV guy who signed the forms thought they were great, and that he's never had anyone interested in photography who hasn't been in any of his classes.. So I may be doing something with him every once in a while (possib. even ask if I could learn darkroom?)

Just filled out all the stuff for my processing.. It's going to cost £30 to get it all done. Owch. That's around £4 overall for each roll (yeah I have 7 rolls - it was hard to fit it into the envelope!)

Too much homework is bad, and it's not good that i've also got to work on three web projects at the same time (School site, My Dad's site (needs a terrible upgrade), and a Duke of Edinburgh site (which I won't stay in for long..)

The train ticket is around £5 to Glasgow and back.. I'd take a little extra for food and because we'll proabably be wandering into various comic shops, art stores and coffee places, but nothing is certain.

Got the Lomo working!

w00t! just spent 5 mins looking at the LOMO thinking what the hell could be the problem and got it first time!

The battery compartment thinghy that connects the batteries to the camera was too loose and the baterries weren't touching each other..

But horay! it's fixed. F34R ME L33T F1x1NG 5K1775! my dad's had that camera for years (it was made in '86.) and when he got it (proabably second hand) it didn't work..

I'm glad he didn't throw it out.. It costs £150 refurbished!
