EpicCon is Maynooth's first Anime, Scifi and Fantasy convention, and one of the only conventions that covers all three in Ireland. The website is still incomplete, but all the info is pertty much there otherwise.

It's on the 14th and 15th of February in NUIM. Maynooth is on the train line to Dublin so it's very accessable.

Accomodation in college starts at 26 euro single, 22 sharing.

There are plenty of places to eat in town too

We're only half an hour from Dublin, so it's just a bus or train hop into Town!

Weekend Ticket: 8€
Day Ticket: 5€
Omega Soc Member Ticket: 4€
Child Under 8 Ticket: 2€

There are also reduced fees for people in Cosplay (I think it's the same as the Omega Member ticket)

I lives in Maynooth now most of the week.

I'm going to do History, Anthropology and Greco-Roman Civ.

I have classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So far nothing on Monday or Friday. :grin: I hope I can get good times for Tutorials too. I want to keep Monday and Friday free!

Maynooth is nice, the housemates are great (except we haven't met the last guy- a red-faced, ginger, Wexford GAA-man. I wonder how that'll turn out...)

I got me 385 in the Leaving Cert. I'm proud
Given that I don't little to no work outside of school hours.

I got accepted into Maynooth, into the Arts degree! So History, Anthropology and Latin here I come! (providing there's room for me in those subjects )

I did not, on the other hand, get on-campus accomodation. The luck of the draw I guess. I'll pull myself an apartment with some people though, so no biggie!

I want to get about 400 points in the Leaving Cert but i'll settle for 350 too, so I still need a good lock of work to be put in... Even though my course is about 330ish, the points change over the years and could go up. Plus a higher points count leaves my options open that little bit extra.

Matthiaias. This is kind of a wierd one. Firstly, it's a play on MAtthew, my middle name. Secondly, Matthias is a charater in one of the Redwall books- fantastic series, and So I altered it to the German version of Matthias, which is Matthaias. Why? Cos German rocks.

1. Arachnaphobia. Yep, I dispise siders. I have nothing against scorpions, crabs, or any of those other arachnid or spider-looking creatures, but I loath spiders...

2. I can't eat any form of dinner without putting pepper on it. Or starter. But I can go without pepper on my dessert

3. I'm a history freak. I spend hours looking up military tactics of X, Y and Z, what weapons certain civilisations used, etc... It's almost an obsession.
