The Truth
(or, What I've Gathered From What Has Been Said, And Must I Say, Holy Fuck)

Well, it seems the news has come out, though it will take some time to spread.

The news about why °jark was fired has been leaked, it would appear. Sadly, it was not from $spyed. I'll be interested to hear what his response will be.


Anyway, here's my little summary of what I've gatehred as to why Jark was fired:

Over the past year or so, Jark had been having increasing amounts of problems with the dA "Board of Directors" (which consists of Spyed and $mccann). He was being listed (and payed for) part-time hours for deviantART, but was workign for quite a while full-time hours. As well, he is one of dA's four tockholders, and thus was rather annoyed when he was not informed of McCann's sudden, voteless adding to the "Board."

As well, he was President of deviantART until around Sept. '04, and he was dropped from the position with barely a word--Spyed, the CEO for a while, had taken on the position of President as well.

Around mid-early July '05, after a long period if bad relatiosn with the staff/administration of dA, Jark set out an ultimatum: if in 10 days he was not put back in his place as President and payed the remainder of his pay for nearly a year of full-time work, among otehr things, he would take legal action (the full set of demands can be seen at either of the two first links in this post).

He didn't hear from anyone for eight days, and after sending out a "scathing" e-mail, he recieved a response from McCann. Responding back saying he was available for a phone conversation, McCann called him. The first words out of McCann's mouth was that the "Board" had decided that Jark was to be terminated from deviantART.

I know, I know, all this politics and such... Bad stuff to get involved with.


But dammit, I have to say I love this place. I've spent some time at a bunch of art communities, and while I admit I don't post much stuff here (despite my recent updates on my new writing account, which you can see a link to above), I do love it. I know how corny, how stupid, how bloody cliche that sounds, but dammit I do love deviantART.

And I'm afraid of what's going on--I'm not extremist about this (I like to think, anyway), I'm not rallying for °jark being brought back (as I'd like to think that $spyed had a good reason for forcing him to leave, and it was $spyed, no other deviant could force °jark to resign), I just want to know the truth. I want the knowledge to come out...

...because if it doesn't this place will tear itself apart. The more time passes without an official statement, without a revelation to what happened to °jark (and, if °jark is to be believed, $spyed has no reason why he cannot tell the world of dA why he kicked °jark out), the angrier this place will become, the more flames will appear, and the more people will leave. To keep this place from flattening under its own weight, we need info.

Starting yesterday (7/24/04) I started work on my story: Judgement - a Story of and for the Ages. The rough draft of the prologue ( I have drafts for the first 3.5 chapters done. Each "chapter" is about as long as the prologue. So far, anyway. ) is up in my Scraps gallery. Go look. Now.


Also finished the logo for the story. Probably gonna fuck with it as I continue writing.

Anyway, last night was wild... Not a blast, necessarily, but wild, to say the least. It was actually pretty fun for a good deal of the time, until our little group got seperated, two people wandering off somewhere. Once I found 'em and brough 'um back, a bunch of girls (we were hanging around outside of a middle school at the time, and it was around 8:30) come up and just start yelling and cursing us out for no real reason at all... telling us to get off 'their' school. Not fun, in the slightest. Once we left they followed us around, eventually calling upon their older siblings to 'help'... Thankfully THEY had some sense and listened when people talked, and got us out of it... Uhg...


From their it was pretty fun, and overall I admit I had a good time. Heh.
