Like many others, cosplayers have been finding creative ways to provide aid after an earthquake and tsunami devastated parts of northern Japan in early March. I spent the entire weekend brainstorming ways to utilize my skills to raise money for relief in Japan. This project has been a long time coming. I have always loved Wonder Woman in all of her incarnations, but when I laid eyes on Michael Turner’s Wonder Woman, I was in love. While Alex Ross and Adam Hughes do a fantastic job of bringing Diana Prince (or whoever is currently filing Wonder Woman’s shoes) to life, Turner sold me on the idea that even an Amazon could be feminine. This is one of those costumes that should have been easy in its execution – however it turned out to be much more complicated than I ever could have dreamed. Why does that always happen? In the end no one would realize how much work I put into the costume – which I guess means that I did a fairly decent job on it.

I wanted to share this with you all because I am really excited about it!

I just launched meaganvanburkleo.com. For right now, it is really only my graphic design portfolio. Later, I will be adding a cosplay and modeling section, and possibly a few other areas. This was my first attempt at designing a fully functional website, so it was a learning experience to say the least. I had a friend program things and there still may be a few kinks. Example: for some reason on the Opera browser, you have to click everything twice to use a link. If you come across any other problems, please let me know!

I have a bunch of stuff to share with you all from my final semester in school EVER! I am going to break them up in to a few posts and this one features my final sculpture that I crafted for my Intro to Sculpture class.

As some of you may know, my last two sculptures were video game related. My first was a Choco-mog and the second was an 8-bit tribute to Super Mario Bros. I knew going into this one that it was not going to be video game related, which was kind of a bummer, but at the same time it was a great gift for my parents.
