Apolinne has a gallery full of lovely shapes and colors, drawn or hand-crafted, that some people may describe as wicked or sick. Either is just fine for me and you, as it is a proof of a healthy brain in command (if you don't follow the logic, it could mean you don't have a healthy brain, I fear).

She's got a lot of cool portraits, but I made my choice to only show one with an emphasis on fun and character.


Even fish can have character and creativity,... and a very, very terrible typo.


And this feature would not be complete without a hand crafted work. Let me introduce you to Madame Merteuil :XD:

Maiyanne has a photography and literature gallery, but my low IQ prevents me from learning how to read, so I just skip the texts. She has, as every women - so it seems, a good eye for emotionally charged colors and composition. And for birds.

This one is the first I saw from her, and still my favorite. Quite a cool "freeze time, please" shot, that will still be worth in many years to look at even though she would won a photography award.


Layers of depth and light. But I disagree with the title (goddamn, now you know I can actually read!)


She will certainly be unhappy with this last feature, but hey, it's MY journal! Self portrait (I guess), which in the end is the only thing that does really matter. Nice bubble.

It's a plug-in for firefox (and others) that basically presents pictures in a nice 3D interface. Pretty boring, hey ?

But, it is able to show every images from a damn site. And it's thought to work 100% with dA (and flickr, and google images, and others).

It offers a search feature which work as every search feature from any site, but the presentation is very very very very easy and quick to browse (and no ads :))

But the big thing is that, actually, you can view in one time every images posted on dA (actually it shows all the images from a given area : I don't think we can see every dA pictures from the browse section).

Say, I am on the "browse" dA page. I hit the little plug-in button that pop up to the bottom left corner of any thumbnail preview, and... oh ! damn ! every images show... in the order of the browse page :O

This works with any gallery on dA : if I want only the conceptual gallery, I go to it in dA, then start the plug-in, and then I will have all the pictures from the conceptual gallery before my astonished eyes - again, in good order.

It works with any personal gallery too. And the little gem is that, if i start the plug-in from the avatar of a deviant : all his gallery shows up. Pretty amazing. And pretty handy for huge galleries like the ones from *mybluenothing, =asmodeus42 or =Wundenkuessen.

The interface shows thumbnail previews, and in one click you have a full quality image. It works with your account (meaning that you will be able to browse the artistic nude gallery as well, yes :giggle:) and it seems to count your views as if you actually were on the pages - if you look at the full quality image.

You can go to the actual page of the image from the plug-in, to fave or comment :)

Only drawback is that once you go to the actual webpage of a picture, you can't resume the plug-in, and must restart again from the beginning of the slideshow.

Just test it.

Oh, and again, there is no ad.

She was happy to show her capacities anyway. And I must say, I am now pretty convinced ! And above all, it's always cool to know you didn't get a lemon (it means a defective lens - why ? no idea :shrug:)

She's a beautiful lens, and the inside of the cap and of the hood are padded with a nice and soft material. Classy ! The all-metal construction is really comfortable on the field.

Speaking of optical performance, she is flawless, and sharp, as I expected in my previous journal entry.

The only bad thing about her is the cap that doesn't clip on the lens (but remember she's going topless?... must be some kind of exhibitionist nature). During transportation, it could be a bit dangerous for the first glass element :|

Being made in japan, let's call her Marianne (ahah, I hear you calling...), a name that evokes a keen girl going topless on the battlefield (first sexual allusion, I'm expecting some pageviews :giggle:).

So Marianne is an all-out metal construction prime lens - even the cap is of metal -, as are all the limited pentax lenses, with a built-in lens hood that erects like... a nipple on a cold battlefield night (remember she's going topless ?) as you focus more closely. And all dressed in black, as it should be !

Talking about close focus, this little lens is capable of focusing to 1:1 magnification, and as close as having the nip... lens hood touching the subject. I never really was a macro kind of snapshooter, but the close focus capabilities are very pleasant.

The focus ring is smooth like girl's skin and comfortable, way better than plastic made lenses and their clumsy feeling.

The focal length, is, as you already noticed, 35 mm, making her a 52mm with digital APS-sized sensors. It is the perfect all-around focal, wich I was craving for after being a bit disappointed with the FA 50mm which was sadly too long (75mm with digital sensors) - bad boy!

She promises outstanding image quality, with great sharpness from center to borders, with no distortion, great details at infinity focus, great color rendition, and even more creamy and dreamy bokeh à la Zeiss.

Sexy ! And she's fast minded too, with a maximum F2.8 aperture :)

It was all about forensics sciences, at the national scientific police center here in france (IRCGN). I was involved with one great team of great peoples composed by the great me, the none-the-less great Faker, and his great redactional chief. They were both conducting interviews of police officers ( in fact, gendarmery officers, as the center is owned by french gendarmerie ; they are a military led and organised police force ), while I was taking portrait photos.

It was a good day. Everyone was kind with us, even if I and my friend Faker were somewhat looking strange ( talk about a "neofolk" looking photographer and a massive arab journalist in a military casern. Ahah, still laughing about it.

The officers interviewed were all sympathic and they showed us many things, explained us a lot of things - without ever giving us precise details about the cases they were working on. Too bad no one of the ballistic department was present :(

I've managed to get some nice pictures (that I can't show you here, but I'll post a scan of the article in april) all along the day, with my poor equipment : pentax K100D, Kit lense 18-55, and FA 50mm1 .4. I have switched between the 2 a hundred times ! I am very happy of the performance of the little pentax, the auto white balance gave me accurate results, never a betrayal - at my suprise -, the exposures ( AV mode, spot metering, one point auto-focus sensor only ) was always good and the few flash shots I did were absolutely lovely. The auto-focus never betrayed me, but I shot most of the time in manual focus - with the help of the focus sensor - ( to make less disturbing noises ).

I've battle all the day with bad low light situations, and I had to change ISO setting a awfull lot of times. The shots at ISO 1600 and ISO 800 lost some color details, but are really nice anyway - noisy but largely usable ! The FA 50 was sharp as always in every situation ( used at F2.8 and 4.0 ) with nice bokeh :)

In the end, it helped me think about my needs, and thus think about future purchases.

Also I should add that it was not only a photo training time, but it was also a precious communication training session : I was alone with the people at the end of interviews, and had to make them talk and talk and talk to be able to take some nice shots. Something I'm just not used to.

Today was my first day of two months working at a graphic design agency. Even if I did not have much things to do (I just did some Illustrator simple illustrations ("concept arts" ; creatures for an advertising campaign promoting digital television)), it was nice to feel the atmosphere of the studio, and even more to feel back in the business.

And I've got a lot of personal works on the line. DSP of three (little) books, mainly.
Still thinking and searching for an interesting, and totally personal creative project. Can't make my mind about what to do :S

New year, new photography hopes ?

I'm eagerly waiting for the specs and price of the next pentax camera DSLR, the K20D, for which I'm saving money since a few months :giggle:

Since the same few months, I'm carrying my DSLR with me everywhere, everywhen. But I did not take many pictures. Stange, isn't it ? In fact, I've done some packaging shots for my (and others' ) professional "book", and some portraits of new friends (already gone ?...) - some of them are really cool, but I can't post them on a public website.
Anyway, still learning and learning and learning photography basics, and trying to take control of every little options my camera can offer ; even if it doesn't mean I'll do better pictures, it makes me comfortable and quick at operation :) Wish I had an external flash for learning sake.

I'm planning to do some "photo days". Still thinking and searching for an interesting place in Paris (yes, Paris is boring to shoot :D - I think I'm lacking a model to give a breath of life to parisian streetscapes).

A note to everyone passing by

Don't be mad at me when you "fav" one my deviation or comment it or watch me, if I don't reply quickly or only reply in a very "automatic" way (the plague of the internet "thanks for the add/fav/watch/thing"). I don't know how the people having a lot and a lot of comments and favs and watchs do, but I'm completly lost when it comes to write an original message. But I'm trying hard to get a complete view of everyone galleries, I promess.

I've also enabled some prints for the first time. Not that I count on it for my new ferrari at the end of the year, but because I was really curious about prints, and my capacities to sell some photos.

For now, I've enabled prints for these two deviations :



More to come. But I plan on making a strict selection about which deviation to enable as a print. Any suggestion about which one to choose - and "thou shall not dare to sell" advices with the ones chosen - would be highly appreciated.
