Pathology. stagnation in the flow of any of the fluids of the body, as of the blood in an inflamed area or the intestinal contents proximal to an obstruction.

[link] - [Dictionarydotcom]

Here's a word with a hell of a lot of connotative meaning compared to a surprisingly short definition. Only two (abridged) denotations, or dictionary definitions. I won't talk about the medical half tonight. It is somewhat irrelevant, but nevertheless noteworthy. It shows that this word is useful, and used; but only to an extent.

To be honest, stasis is one of my favorite words (which just goes to show that the most complex or unique things aren't always better). It's one of those words that sounds just like the way it means. I cannot explain this experience, but it's part of how I determine the worth of a particular word. Each and every word has an emotional value, if you examine it. More on that another time, perhaps.

Now then, let's take a look at the first denotation of the word. "...Opposing equal forces" sounds kind of like something right out of a physics textbook. Boring. Almost bothersome. When in the world have there ever been two forces which are actually (INTERMISSION: [link] Enjoy. Now then, back on track..) balanced and nullifying eachother? There's always a constant war going on. And the way I see it, wars are more akin to tides. That is to say: one side seems to be ahead, then the other. The tide doesn't just sit at one place, static; it's always changing.

CHANGE. It's what we voted into office, isn't it? We stopped the stasis in office. McCain had a nickname, McSame. See how easy it is to shine a light of bad connotations on a word? (Just add politics!)

Tangents aside, we don't see much stasis in our world. Too many variables and fluctuations. Stasis. On a worldly scale, change is always needed. Nature won't stay the same, so we must always be learning to adapt to it. A static environment tends to just rot. A pond of stagnant water will almost inevitably breed mosquitoes. And nobody likes mosquitoes.

Now then, let us take a different perspective. I favor stasis in day to day life. "No surprises" is how I'd love to live my life. Just settling into a cute little daily routine. Write down a single schedule and KEEP IT THAT WAY. No worries on the idealism, though. I'm doing what I can to get to a reasonable level of it. I've got this game going Wednesday nights (though this week's ran late) and a host of other weekly/daily activities. Unfortunately, I can't possibly keep track of what happens on a given day between 4 and 9 PM. On school-days, those hours are like the only time that I would hope to have my own standard of organization. But no. I can't possibly. It's hectic and chaotic. Yet I still hold the idealism of a static system. Of a peaceful one, even.

My final point: Equilibrium. A perfect balance. You take everything you can, and pack it into a system. At the end, you come out alive, wholesome, and centered. That's equilibrium, in my mind. It's all I strive for in life. "Now I've got friends that ride into the storm and ride out of the storm with nothing they rode into the storm with" (Counting Airplanes - Train, one of my favorite songs) To be honest, that song sums up a lot of what I would say in this paragraph. Go listen.

Stasis: How I'd love to find it.

===============================================

Trust me, it was worth it.

<img src="http://www.nerdtests.com/images/badge/nt2/e8f3d575299f0896.jpg" alt="NerdTests.com says I'm a Highly Dorky Nerd King. I just now watched the movie W. It's about George W. Bush, of course. Throughout the movie, I was thinking of a great word to start this series with. And so I started thinking about the theme of the movie. Well, simply enough: I settled on the word Obligation. W swears a number of times that he'll never be outdone by an opponent. "I'll never be out-Texaned or out-Christianed" <- No joke. Anyway, I'm here to say - well, type - that obligation is the driving force behind all of us. One who shirks an obligation cannot well be respected.

I admit it: I hate this about myself. I honestly don't trust or respect myself for (among other things) the fact that I just watch deadlines go by like they're trains. "Huh. Wonder how fast that one's going.." I'm fixing it, slowly. I guess. I still haven't opened my Physics or Pre-calculus textbooks in over a month. And yet, I promised so many people that I would have a 4.0 this year. Yeah, not happening. Huh, oh well. Keep trying; keep learning. I often slowly slip off of the topic.

Obligation: A sense of duty, right? To take the words of GladOS from the game Portal: "We do what we must because we can": People aren't always bound by a sense of obligation or duty or righteousness. There's always a bit of fudging the rules. It's often this little fudging that bothers me about people. Rules are rules, right? Why can't we follow them. But, of course, I don't either. No wonder why I don't like myself. But hey, we all have the opportunity to grow. So, use it!

--

And now for a few extra things:
1) [link] Do it. This is Chris Chu. Good guy. They keep you alive. Without lists, there's nothing to do; there's nothing to care about. When I started making fractals, they were one at a time. There was a gap of time between each. But now, I've got multiple things to do lined up in front of me. This journal is to organize it for myself, and to let you know where I am.

At the moment, I've got two lists:
Books (which people keep trying to pile onto)
Art (fractals etc)

I will be updating the Art list based on percentages.

Poverty: An issue so serious, it has its own website named after it.

My friends, click here, print this page! Send it!

Three things or so to talk about tonight. This'll go casually. I'm just going to type it out.

First off: Christmas just passed. There's this thing about divorced parents that really screws up the holiday. On one hand, you 'get twice the stuff'. Twice the time, twice the Christmas, twice the gifts. Yay? I guess. It's not what it sounds. Conflicts arise, disagreements between the two parties of parents over time, gifts, money and the like. Still, I ended up much better off at the end of the year. My dad decided to do a 'Family present' of redoing the entire family room entertainment system. Brand new TV, shelves, etc. And at my mom's, I ended up with A freaking amazing laptop of my own. I had a rough time choosing it over a Canon Rebel, but I ended up with a gift that I payed $230 of. I ended up with a damn good laptop. It's actually almost twice as good as my old desktop. Weighing in at 2GB of RAM, 200GB hard drive, Intel Centrino duo processor, and running Vista, this off-the-floor model of HP Pavilion dv6000 is now my best friend.

Second on the list to talk about, I made a very interesting discovery recently. I was attempting to recreate a Plastic fractal, namely When Harmony Clashes. Halfway through, I got fed up with the blur and started deviating from the normal Plastic fractal method. That's when I came upon these specific parameters which are incredibly intriguing. Everything you'll need to know is below.

NEEDED:
--Apophysis 2.07
--Plugins (Scry, at least)

INSTRUCTIONS: First off, you open up the parameters in Apophysis (2.07+plugins), and you see that it's pretty much blank. Lame, I know. Go to the transform editor; you'll notice that transform 1 is blank. How weird, right? Well, that's where you come in. You put in whatever you want there, and almost any variation will give you a different result. That's only the first step. From there, you can move transform 2 (in very small amounts) to obtain radical differences. The parameters are basically a plastic fractal, with some space left for you to fill in.

Now then, I'm going to share some parameters with you all. I trust that putting them out on a journal isn't going to be a problem because you are all creative enough to use them to the extent that the work becomes your own, and not just a simple change to the parameters (Which does, admittedly, make quite a difference in the output). Be forewarned, these parameters, by themselves, look like junk, but they are very powerful. Things change very quickly. And without further suspense:

Copy this into a text document, then take the ; out from the "palette count"

<flame name="Potential" version="Apophysis 2.07 beta" size="512 384" center="-0.186 6.216" scale="40.96" oversample="1" filter="0.2" quality="5" background="0 0 0" brightness="6.3" gamma="2.83" >
<xform weight="1" color="0" coefs="1 0 0 1 0 0" />
<xform weight="50" color="1" symmetry="0.95" linear="0.9" sinusoidal="0.338" spherical="0.1" scry="0.309" coefs="-0.002831 0.000155 0.000153 0.002864 -0.004594 0.000434" />
&ltalette count="256" format="RGB">
9A54A19952A0974EA0944BA09348A09044A08F41A08C3EA0
8B3AA08A379F87339F86309F842D9F83299F80269F7B239A
762195731F906E1D8B691B8765198261177E5C1679581475
54137150126D4E10694A0F65450E62430E5E400D5B400B5C
3A0A5637095234094F31084C2E08492D08482C0947270941
25093E230A3C210A3A1F0B381C0C361A0D34190D33190E32
1D0E381E0E3B200E3E220D41250D45260D46270E482A0E4E
2C0E512E0E542F0E57310F5A320E5B340E5D360E61370F64
3B0E6A3C0E6D3E0F70400F73430F76440F77450F7948117E
4A11804C12834D13854E14874F148850148A52168C54168E
571892581A935A1C955C1D965E1F985E20995E219A62249D
63269E65289F662AA0672CA1672DA1682EA26A30A36B33A4
6E37A56F3AA6703DA7713EA7723FA77342A77345A8764AA9
774CA9794FAA7A51AA7B54AB7B55AB7C57AB7C5AAC7E5DAC
8062AD8065AD8068AE8069AE816AAF826CAF846FAF8473B0
8475B08477B08477B08578B0817AB0837BB0837BAF857CAF
837EAE887DAD8D7DAC8E7DAB8F7DAB8E7DAA927CA99C7AA7
9E79A6A078A5A177A4A377A3A275A2A2729AA1719AA06E96
9D68919C678F9C668E9B638C995F8B985B86...

Most of you know, I don't post journals unless I really have something to say, but..nothing's coming. I really want to type. I've got plenty to say. I was tagged, and everything, but...I don't know what it is.

I'm falling backwards. More and more things remind me of the past. Of what I had, didn't have. Never thought I was worth getting. And..now, I don't know if I can handle remembering all of that.

So, two things for now:

First, the goodish news. This is one of the moods in which I can actually draw. It's not the best for getting things proportionally correct, but I can still draw. My hand is now steady; my lines straighter and more defined. Maybe I'll do enough to put up here. Maybe not. We'll see. I just drew some sushi to piss of my Japanese teacher (if that's possible). --to bother my Japanese teacher. I'm getting 20/20 on this project, though.

Secondly, news of little to no disposition..I don't like what I know. I don't like who I am. A little bit of infective happiness could've reached me. I thought I was past that whole bit, but now I couldn't tell you. Now, I'm just typing to put out my thoughts to where I can digest them. I might not actually post this. I don't know. I just..want to tell someone everything, but I've got nobody to confide in anymore, if I ever did. There are a lot of things I've never told anyone. A lot of things I don't want to put on someone else. It's weird, everything's gotten heavy these past few days. I don't know why.

I'll feel better tomorrow, maybe. I'm out for tonight.
Thank you all, especially Max who called me a fool, even after I made it.

Alright. That was some painful and exhausting fun. You try to run top speed for 56 feet and then converting lateral energy into vertical energy, and then back. Painful is when you don't make it over...and land on the bar. I got a welt on my forearm after the Monte Vista meet two weeks ago.

BUT I MADE IT! 8 Feet, damn. I'm the best JV vaulter we have right now. Its too bad Austin Haire is hurt, because he's pretty good when he doesn't have a sprained ankle. Anyway, I made 8' two or three times, then I was too tired to make it, and kept not making it. Tomorrow will be good though. You should all come to Cal High and watch us!

( Wish me luck. Tomorrow, I might be able to vault over a standard ceiling. My record is 7'6", but I know I can do better. I'm so close. )

And no, deviantART, this is not a minor edit. Duh.
