It seems like lately I've been bombarded with hardcore churchies. And I say the word "churchies" as affectionately as possible; I don't know what else to call the ultra-religious.

But honestly, it's gotten out of hand.

I apparently have absolutely no morals, and no potential to gain them because I have no religion. - Gee, I guess you just gave me an excuse to stop telling cashiers when they charged me too little, or sticking up for the people that get no support.

I'm also going to hell no matter how good of a person I am, because I don't believe in a certain God. And here I thought that Christians were supposed to be tolerant, accepting, loving people.


And even if someone managed to convert me, that wouldn't be okay. I would apparently need to start thinking homosexuality is wrong, a woman has absolutely no right to an abortion, and people of other religions should be "saved" before I can gain some of those sparkly morals people keep talking about.

I'm sorry, but no.

It's just getting INSANE, with the number of people I've met lately who wear their ultra-religiousness on their sleeves, and then get angry when I wear my teen-who-doesn't-believe-any-of-it-but-isn't-quite-a-hardcore-atheist on mine.

Yeah...no.

So go ahead. If there's anyone out there who wants to try and make me see the light or whatever, you can try it. I won't get mad.

My summer is just peachy.

Went to the cave of old man today (isn't that place, like, nationally famous? Under it's real name, of course, which isn't really so different. Anyway.)

Apparently two dumbasses fell into the Devil's Bathtub and had to be rescued. Damn, if it weren't for my inability to swim and the fact that it's nearly impossible to drag yourself out of that little deathhole, I'd jump in that shit. It looked cool. 8D Needless to say, I tortured my mother by jumping on high cliffs and heading off the beaten path constantly.

It turns out that my last color guard instructor LIED. She taught us a "Butterfly," but she was wrong...it was really Around The World...

Anyway.

I finally finished Cemetery Dance, by Lincoln and Child. And I have to say...I was disappointed. I mean, sure, there are zombiis (Yes, in the Vodou/Voodoo/Obeah sense of the word) but Pendergast just seemed out of character for the entire novel. In the Diogenes Trilogy, he put everyone he'd ever really grown the least bit attached to into hiding, but when Nora has a zombii after her, he just says "Oh, here, take this charm and good luck."

Otherwise, it was quite good. Although I could have done WITHOUT THE JOURNALIST MURDERS. I loved those two journalists. I LOVED THEM VERY VERY MUCH. And pretty much everyone else who's read the series loved one of them just as much as I did.


Ah well. I'm still hoping that Corrie Swanson will show up in a later book. -hugs her signed copy of Still Life With Crows and rabidly bites everyone who comes near it- That's still my very favorite book. Still Life was AWESOME. Now, imagine Corrie, Smithback, Margo, D'Agosta, and Pendergast united against zombiis.

THAT would have made Cemetery Dance fucking awesome. Sadly, only two of the above characters are REALLY in it. One of them...well, he's mentioned quite often, but you can't call him an active character. Anyway.

I've been working on a lot of my personal-fanfics (meaning the ones I write purely for my own enjoyment; they contain OCs) as well as All Around Me and it's sequel, which was basically inspired by the character of Caitlyn Kidd from Cemetery Dance. She just reminded me so much of my wannabe journalist...anyway.

I downloaded some new songs by Morningwood, From First to Last, Crystal Castles, and Superchick...all of them fucked up in one way or another, and deliciously addictive.

Guess what? My town apparently has the highest poverty rate in the US. I submit to you that this is a LIE, and the figures were skewed by college student counts.

I got a hug from my cousin.

So I haven't been online much lately, and I'll be busy all week. I can tell you every reason as well:

-two parties this week, one of which my parents might not let me go to, since it's a grad party. The other, however, isn't, so I'll get to go, unless they figure out that the guys are coming.

-the drama class play, which keeps getting postponed.

-my American Studies honors project is due soon, and all I've done so far is research into France during WWI and shell shock.

-friend drama.

-color guard starts soon, and I'm immensely stressing.

-I have to get ready for three camps during July. that includes a goddamn physical with my least favorite doctor.

-took a trip to Amish Country. If you've never been to Sugarcreek, OH, make it a point in your life to go. It's beautiful and the cheese+wine+chocolate are SO FUCKING GOOD. little switzerland is amazing.

-the festival is on saturday, and I'm volunteering.

-I finally got some inspiration for Alina's bit in AAM, and started writing that, as well as a little more work on one of my older pieces.

-I'm going to start fiddle lessons again soon.

-I'm going to self-teach myself a little more difficult sax music, since I'm already more than proficient at it.

-and, in my downtime, I've been playing Sims 2, since that game is ungodly fun.

There's probably more, but...

I have some stuff to upload. I have to clean out my gallery again and remove everything I hate. I'm going to start working on the 100TC again.

Sometimes, in the middle of the night - actually, it's pretty frequent - I'll wake up and start hallucinating, or I'll hallucinate right before I fall asleep. Typically, there are spiders involved - one of my bigger fears. Last night I almost fell out of bed trying to get rid of spiders on my comforter, when I realized that there had never been anything there.

So, I started watching "We Are Marshall," and it almost made me cry.

I doubt it would make anyone else cry, but see, I live very, very close to Marshall. I might GO to Marshall. I've always known about the tragedy.

(For anyone who doesn't know, "We Are Marshall" is the story of the tragedy that killed nearly all of Marshall University's football team and athletic department in 1970, and how the school rebuilt itself afterwards.)

If you haven't watched it already, please do. I can't say it's an amazing, beautiful movie, but it is good, and unlike a lot of movies, it means quite a lot to quite a few people.

- I started to make icing for my bestie's birthday cupcakes.
- My uncle showed up at my door with a baby bird.
- Because I didn't want it to be pity-killed, I adopted it.
- Did I mention that both my dog and cat wanted to kill it?
- My, but that bird's shrill. It's beside me in a box.
- Then I went back to the icing.
- After washing off my hand.
- Because the bird shat.
- And the icing was hardening.
- Which means I had to start over.
- But before I did, I dropped my phone in the GODDAMN ICING.
- AAARGH.
- And I still have to clean my room.
- And make it presentable.
- And make sure Elaine is actually coming.

I got ditched during lunch and hung out with Elaine and Aaron - and James, but it's not like he counts - and then during fourth period, when we were actually looking at the senior projects I got ditched again, so I walked around with Melinda. (And Thorn started walking with us too, which was just WEIRD.)

Probably won't be on for the next two days; Elaine and Aaron are coming over, Elaine and are going to the Fest and the g+w game, and my mom is probably going to grill us about what we plan to do at the festival - which is NOT the fest. ugh. Complicated.

So I'm pretty much tired of it.

I'm incredibly tired of my mother jumping on every little thing I do, insisting that I only say the things I do to pick fights, and taking everything I say as a challenge. It's just...not good. And my dad just laughs, tells me to shut up, and lets Mom have her way, which isn't the way I roll, nor is it the way they raised me. I'm supposed to stick up for myself, but when I try that at home I get shot down.

ACK. And at school, I'm tired of trying to keep all my friends from the different circles. My FFA buddies, my losers, my besties the preps, and the people everyone pretends to like. You know, I genuinely like most of the people at my school and I'm DONE with trying to keep everybody happy.

But there's unhappiness right now - i.e. death threats that were pretty serious towards my best friend and several acquantainces. Yes, here in Appalachia we have the freaks who want to kill everybody too. And that's of course stressing everybody out, because as always, the principal won't do ANYTHING. I don't even know if he has to go to dententions, but I've been seeing him in the hallways. At least I wasn't on his list, as far as I know. But my absolute best friend was, and from what I hear, crazy!boy might have a crush on one of my other besties.

SO IT'S JUST FUCKING LOVELY.

Just. Fucking. Lovely.

I haven't spoken to Bonnie in months, Daniel won't return my emails, ETCTERA, I'm not doing too well with my international mystery buddies. Okay, not so much mystery. We've spent entirely too much time together as is, BUT STILL I would like to still be friends. BORDERS MEAN NOOOOTHINNNNNG~~~~~~! Except they do. Speaking of borders, I wonder when I'll talk to Garrett again...

Not to mention that scheduling is coming up too, and I have no idea what sophomore classes I want to take. I mean, all the classes I'm interested in are junior/senior exclusive, and it's no good.

But I am looking forward to finally NOT being a freshman, because the teachers at my school have this intense dislike for freshmen, and the sophmores+ refuse to take us seriously whatsoever, even though the majority of us are a damn sight smarter and more mature than they are.

Damn. That song still makes me cry.

Anyway...lately I've been coming to a lot of realizations, I guess you could say. I don't really know...I know that maybe some things aren't as impossible or unrealistic, unwanted as they seemed a year ago. And that some things, other people will never understand. That despite my love for cute characters, and the fact that half of my class loves cute characters and robots, there will always be the killjoys who think they're childish, and would rather walk on the sidewalks instead of the yellow dividing line.

I've realized that despite their idiocy, some people can be incredible friends. I will never again say that those who can't think should be shot, because it's just not true. And you know that you're a real friend if you can steal food out of each other's hands, steal money out of each other's hands, make jokes that others would find cruel, and be lovingly abused right back. If you can't...then you just aren't comfortable with your friends. If you can't be mean, and have them take it as a joke. If you can't wear their clothes despite the fact that they haven't washed them for the past two times they've worn them. If you know exactly when to switch from joking to seriousness...

And sometimes, first impressions are everything. Sometimes, they are nothing.

Despite what we've always been taught, some foreigners are honestly shocked when you imply that people from their country might despise yours. When six Chinese college students can't figure out why one of their people would hate America, it's time to rethink all those things you've heard people say about the hatred towards America.

When you meet a person who can still smile through a discussion about wars and how they were on the low end of the caste system in India, then listen to them. Through the jokes, they will have important things to tell you.

I used to cry when I listened to it.

It's quite difficult to make me cry, guys.

"When You Come Back Down," "Sweet Afton" and "That's How He Hurt His Hands" are beautiful as well.

And "The Fox's Dinner" is just a great, catchy song.

I can't guarantee that any of these titles but "Sweet Afton" and "When You Come Back Down" are totally correct.

edit: Instead of "That's How He Hurt His Hands," it's simply titled "The Hand Song." Sorry. And I believe that "The Fox's Dinner" is actually just "The Fox."
