Hello guys!


It's time to take stock of my exhibition at Cascina Irma last week.

First off, I'd like to publicly say thanks once again to all the guys at Cascina Irma, the crew of Gigizeta, Fabio, Alessandro and in particular the wonderful Art-Director Anna! An heartfelt thanks goes to them!

Then, what else can I say?
The prints came out damn wonderful!
Loads of people came on the two evenings.
Tons of friends came too, flattering me with enthusiastic words!
I sold two prints! ahahahhaha! yes, it's not a joke!
An artistic broker contacted me!
A friend of mine asked me for a photo-session for a work with one of her customers! ( read more in the next journal please )
This winter (maybe) and next summer (more probably) I am going to make another exhibitions! ( and.. perhaps with some of you...let's see )


So all went in a fantastic way!

E' arrivato il momento di fare un piccolo bilancio della mia expo alla Cascina Irma, la settimana scorsa.

Prima di tutto, permettetemi di ringraziare pubblicamente ancora una volta tutti i ragazzi alla Cascina, la crew del Gigizeta, Fabio, Alessandro e in particolare la fantastica Art-Director Anna! Un grosso grazie di cuore va a loro sicuramente!!

Poi che dire...?
Le stampe son venute una meraviglia!
E'venuta un sacco di gente nelle due serate!
Pure un sacco di miei amici son venuti, subissandomi di complimenti che sembrava di sentire mia nonna quando mi diceva quanto fossi bravo e bello mentre mi dava le mance per aver tagliato l'erba!!!!

Update:

The expo is going definitely ok! I am very very satisfied with the quality of the prints, they look so nice! Then, loads of people came to the "vernissage" that took place on Tuesday at Cascina Irma ( Zanè (VI),Italy ).

A bunch of friends of mine came too! So the whole evening went super-fine, and I had great time chatting with everyone, explaining my pics and receiving a lot of praises and flattering words and drinking beer with pop corn!
I sold two prints too! A guy from the staff of Gigizeta ( the group of people managing the cultural association ) felt in love with these two pics and decided to buy them!






This evening is the last evening. Hope to find there a lot of friends even tonight!
I took a couple of pictures of the expo just to keep you updated; i think i'll post them in the weekend.

Anyway, that's all for the moment.
I just wanted to let you know that all is going pretty well and that im having fun and stuff..

Next week, and for only one week, some of my pictures will belong to a photographic exhibition of a cultural association near my town.
I am so excited, waiting for the prints.

un veloce sunto della situazione.
ultimamente sono talmente scazzato e pigro che di foto manco se ne parla. pure del resto. sono poco presente qui. lavoro e problemi vari mi tengono occupato o mi distolgono da questo intrallazzo quale è deviant per me.
non c'è a dirla tutta neppure la benchè minima voglia di fare qualcosa di nuovo al momento...che disperasion...
ecco una cosa bella c'è: sabato ho le chiavi e vado a vivere da solo! ( intanto vado a pulire e inizio a portare un po' di cose...sarà da ridere... )
di conseguenza non so quando avrò internet a casetta nuova. userò internet al lavoro e magari per un po di tempo userò internet da casetta vecchia.

hi dear friends!!

how are you? im pretty fine, a little fatter for the holidays' dinners and lunchs, a bit busier at work and almost ok with all the remainder. i wanted to know how you guys spent the new year's eve and how has your brandnew year begun. concerning me, i spent my last day of 2007 in mountain with friends, nothing thrilling or exciting, just warm and friendly as i wanted it.

2008 will be for me a year of changes. i hope some changes at work will take place and for sure on march i'll move to live alone!!!

now, a little question: when i create a new folder in the favs section, and when i put a deviation in it, is this thing notified to the artist?

tutto bene? io sto benone, messi su un po' di chili, un po' più impegnato al lavoro e abbastanza preso bene con gli impegni per il resto. a voi com'è andato l'ultimo e come avete iniziato l'anno nuovo? per quanto mi riguarda, io l'ho passato in montagna con amici; niente di eccitante, ma socievole e intimo così come l'avevo sperato.

il 2008 sarà un anno di cambiamenti per me. al lavoro spero che qualcosa cambi e di sicuro il primo di marzo entro in casa nuova, vado a vivere da solo!!!

THE INTERVIEW

1- Shortly describe yourself: what do you do, concerning art at 360°? what is your artistic education?

I'm a professional photographer, I studied at the Artistic Lyceum and then at the European Institute of Design in Milano. Actually I work as a freelance...I realize that it's very difficult. Wonderful work but very stressful!


2- Your main artistic field is photography: how much do you think technique and equipment are important for a good outcome?

It depends on the work you have to do. Technique is a must, but after some time you can throw the knowledge away.For an artistic research you can use everything. And surely you can even destroy the technique. But only if you made it yours before.
Equipment can help sometimes, but if you have nothing to say the equipment can't do it for you!


3- How do you usually shoot? do you usually prepare and manage the surroundings ( objects, light etc ) or do you take pics more feely, more spontaneously?

I'm spontaneous and usually I don't prepare my shoots before. I do it only if I have to (for work!) but usually when I have an idea and I think about it too much...i come to stop liking it!


4- How much time do you usually spend in post-editing? how much weight does it have on the good outcome of the pic?

I always correct my pictures. I use photoshop as a dark room, I correct the tones, the levels, and sometimes the grain (with digital cameras we can't choose it before as with the film!). lately I crop the images, cause in this period I love the square format, for example.


5- A classical question: digital or film? speaking of reflex cameras, better a good body or a good lens?

Both...and both! Good lenses are necessary, but then if you don't have a good sensor...they are almost useless. Well with film it's better to have good lenses and a good film...


6- What are the main drivers that make you say: "this pic is ok! "; i mean for example good lighting, good tones, good communication of the concept, etc etc..

I don't have a particular thing...usually I think that when the picture hits me inside, then it is ok.


7- Speaking about the contest, what is your personal opinion about modern bravery?

the contest ended its first part. I have accepted with *SnaiLEd almost all the pictures you sent me. We decided to accept even those ones that were not so "right" according with the contest's rules, because the involvement to this contest has not been that "huge", at least not so big like we hoped.


anyway, we received 14 pics; we decided, for the same reasons of above, to let them all take part to the final polls. so 2 polls are set; each poll with 7 pics; each person can give one or two votes and can eventually give a vote for himself. as specified in the rules, we will admit "ex-aequo" for the second and the third ranked; for the first place, in case of parity, another poll will be set to tell the final winner.

I have some pretty nasty vertigo, so I decided to challenge myself - by climbing along the underside of a railway bridge. It was actually a ton of fun. Right here I'm about twenty-five feet from the water, which isn't really a lot. I found some "Kilroy was here"-esque grafitti from 1980 in the middle. I think I might go back and tag it later on.

in ogni caso devo dire 8 cose a caso di me e poi attaccare questa catena-di-sant-antonio-porta-sfiga-senonlofaipurete a 8 persone che mi vorranno del bene sicuramente per questo


1- domani riinizio a lavorare dopo 3 settimane di splendide vacanze.qualcuno ha una pistola da prestarmi?

2- in un momento di lucida follia ho deciso che correrò una mezza-maratona; non so ancora quale, però tremate, forrest gump si è messo all'opera!

3- ho un fogliettino con tutte le cose da fare, che ho compilato al mio ritorno da new york: non ne ho fatto manco la metà...la mia to-do list è impressionante...

4- mi son comprato le scarpe nike che comunicano con l'ipod nano...dire che è una figata è poco!

5- qualcuno mi spiega cos'ha di bello la tanto declamata polaroid sx-70 ( non è ironia..è ignoranza e pigrizia di digitare sx70 su wikipedia )

6- tra le cose da fare della mia to-do list ci sono parecchie foto; che non farò mai a sto punto, considerando il rimo con cui sto prendendo in considerazione le altre cose della lista...

7- la ele un giorno ha detto che un giorno mi vorrebbe venire a trovare: dopo questo colpo basso infertomi la mia accoglienza sarà adeguata....ahahaaahahahah

8- ho sonno e fuori fa un tempo che fa ragliare. datemi un compressore che me lo sparo in vena...

hi, i am matteo dalla rovere and im 26 years old. i am an italian guy living near Vicenza. i graduated in management engineering at Padova's university. i take photographs as hobby as my main work belongs to the apparel world; im a sales analyst for a clothes' firm. i began shooting with a compact digital, then i shot a lot with a film reflex and now im enjoying taking pics with a digital reflex. at the moment my specialities are macro-shooting, still life and conceptual works, even though im widely open to any kind of photography. in particular i'd like to deepen my skills facing the portraits' world. im not a professionist, nonetheless im available for any commission.

tornato! finite le vacanze! martedi si riinizia...
si riinizia a ballare ragazzi!
prima però vi dico che:

new york è:

rispondere male all'ispano-americano che voleva farsi i cazzi miei alla dogana
sperare di beccare un tassista americano almeno una volta...hihi
dormire nell'appartamento dello zio...una reggia a central park west...
mangiare la steak da gallagher ( grazie barbara!! )
far finta di dar da mangiare agli scoiattoli di central park per fotografarli..per poi fare delle foto di merda...
spiegare il rapporto aureo nei quadri di mondrian al tizio del guggenheim incuriosito dai miei discorsi in dialetto vicentino a mio padre....
bestemmiare fuori dal guggenheim perchè stanno rifacendo la facciata dell'edificio...
il quinto piano del moma... da paura...
il meatpack district ovvero l'ex mattatoio dove una volta giravano i western e ora è popolato da un sacco di pied-a-terre e di case-studio di fotografi...
il greenwich village, una piccola inghilterra all'interno di manhattan piena di vita
andare a messa al ymca ad harlem...
farsi prendere dal panico in appartamento per via di un coleottero grandissimo e bruttissimo ( grazie mamma che l'ha ucciso )
fare shopping come degli scemi da abercrombie, niketown, etc etc etc....
impallare i computer di barnes&noble per cercare dei libri per mio cugino
scoprire ad ellis island che l'ondata piu grande di immigrazione è quella sudamericana degli anni 80-2000...
provare l'iPhone all'apple-center...
non capire come fanno gli americani a stare in manica corta dentro i fast food...( saranno 16 gradi...non sto scherzando )
il fantasma dell'opera a broadway...che emozione...
il pier 17 e brooklyn e mia sorella che a momenti cade in acqua....
ground zero e l'assenza di emozioni particolari...
i campi di baseball di central park che figata!!!
la serata al blue note con la mia troupe addormentata dopo secondi 10 .....
little italy e china town peggio del mercato di Thiene...
il viaggio d'andata con mia madre che attacca bottone con tutti...
il viaggio di ritorno con a fianco una polacca che legge harry potter dall'inizio del viaggio sino a francoforte... la pena di morte bisogna darle...
mio padre drogato che non si stanca mai di camminare...
mangiare thai vicino a washington square con mio padre che porcheggia perchè non vede na fava...

e molto altro....

it's time for me to first thank you once again for all your favs and comments.
they are always so welcomed. im flattered by your gratitude!

but it's time for me to wave you for a while, cause next saturday i'll be flying to nyc and as soon as i'll be back from there i will head to Sirolo with my "foxy" ( ) lady for a well deserved sea-week.

so, i greet you all to spend a wonderful holiday time. i'll be back here in my hometown the 10th of august, but i'll be more probably here on dA by the 14th of August or even by the 20th of August... it depends on what i will do in the remaining holiday time!

by the way, at my coming back new brandnew topics are expecting me ( in random order):

- i will play piano once again in a jazz group
- i will plan to go and visit my girlfriend in Spain
- i will the athletic preparator of my bro's 5-football team
- i will carry on learning chinese
- i will probably study for the DELE examination of Spanish ( the english TOEFL )
- i will probably carry on swimming or begin to cycle in order to make the Santiago's route by bycicle


tomorrow i will cut a bit my hair...and
tomorrow i will be presented to my bro's 5-football team...
