History of my ARTSESEESSESESE: tagged by

I think I'll mainly focus on the art I have here right now, since I haven't really started getting full-on serious until I took art in high school. I do know that I started drawing in the third grade, though, when this salesman came into our classroom and sold us all these magic slates. I started doing little comic strips with my seatmate and gradually started drawing more and more, but doing it more as just a valuable skill for illustrating school projects and the like.

In high school, though, I took a formal art class (as formal as you'd get in HIGH SCHOOL xD) that taught me nothing valuable, except the notion that I have to draw more. I first used the inking techniques that our teacher made us do, but I gradually had the urge to get color into my art.

Thus began what I'd like to call my *pyromaniac stage. I bought myself a bucketful of pens and a gigantic set of Prismacolors (that are still alive). And, looking back, I'm not proud of it. Not at all. Admittedly, it feels like I was just basically copying from this guy's aesthetic. My coloring techniques, my inking, EVERYTHING was ripped off from him. I feel ashamed to admit it, but now I have that off my chest, so it kind of makes me feel better. An important thing I learned from this stage, however, is that my art does need some color... and that I was actually not as bad as I thought, even though I was still copying my art technique.

I liked the compliments that people gave me about my coloring techniques, but I let that get into my head. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I copied it to gain myself e-attention from dA. As I said, I'm not proud of it. Then came the stage that I am still in right now, though. A certain person (and you know who you are. ILY.) pointed to the capabilities I have and how I'm squandering them away by making copied pseudo-anime with no hint of anatomy or anything vaguely resembling progress. All I was doing was copying, not really doing anything that's actually me... and it never made me feel fully contented.

So I spent that summer poring over anatomy books, watching and reading figure drawing tutorials, drawing naked people (!!!) and overall developing a style that's my own. I got myself a tablet and started owning my own signature coloring technique. I'm actually proud of what I have so far now, but I have a long way to go.

As of now, I'm no longer copying and still developing my skills. I don't know if you can call me an artist, but at least I'm not a complete rip-off anymore. Also, I went from perusing the manga section to constantly being in the comics section. 15-year-old me would disagree but Manga < Comics.

Oh, yes, did I mention that we're also moving? To a legit house now? Two blocks away? xD I get to design a new room again. Fun. Although the walls are covered with this weird paint thing that might force me to get creative with hanging my posters.

And we're going to the library tomorrow for a weird Super Smash Bros. Brawl contest thingy. Dunno how that's going to turn out since my brother and I are certainly not the brightest players in the bunch. xD Haha, oh well, we'll have fun anyways.

And... TURTLES! Who knew they can be SO expensive? The good, boxy-looking ones they had at Petco were about $80. I also need a tank and appropriate lighting and food for my future turtle. I SO want one though, since they're the cutest things ever... And they're not as smelly as hamsters.

Although I might just get a hamster if it gets too expensive.

Either way, I REALLY want a pet I can play with and photograph.

I can only have a small pet that I can keep in my room and that won't bite Aimee, so... no dogs, cats, rabbits or anything above the size of a guinea pig. Any tips? D:

So, apparently, they take down an entry because it's traced, but every single time I report vector traces of anime screenshots, they still remain up, even though they were caught red-handed. IE, I hunted down the original screenshots.

(Yeah, I know, I need to get other hobbies, right? Like... I dunno... dig through my five WIPs and actually work on one of them. xD)

And after endless driving, I still haven't beaten the Pokemon League yet, can you believe it? I haven't even entered the Victory Road. O_o I was too busy trying to get all my pokemon to Level 50 before I venture in there. xD So far, I have an Empoleon, Roserade, Alakazam (courtesy of ~SolarKnight, whom I still owe a sketch. xD), Staraptor, Rapidash and Blissey. I take no Legendaries to the Pokemon League, no, not even Lucario.

Anyways, I took some nifty pictures... And one of this guy sitting alone on the base of the St. Louis Gateway Arch, listening to his iPod:



I just thought it looked downright odd because the thing was really effing huge and there's this guy, a mere speck compared to it, just sitting against it that Tuesday afternoon, as if it was a bench at the park. o.o

Anyways, we climbed it the next day and due to a sudden bout of acrophobia, I forgot all about the dude until I opened up our pictures this afternoon.

Well, anyways, it's good to be home and not sitting for 12 hours in a car. xD Haha! I'll be back on the drawing board by tomorrow, guys, so expect some paintings and sketches and the like soon enough.

Anyways, I had a great birthday. Somewhat simpler than my other birthdays, but it was enjoyable anyways. And, yes, I DO feel my age, which is odd, because I usually don't. Not on my birthday, that is.

I admit, I haven't really seen quite a number of the nominees, including There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men and Sweeney Todd, but that's only because I can't find anybody to go with me that won't fall asleep in the middle of the former two films. xD But a number of the movies that I wanted to win some awards did win.

Ratatouille for Best Animated Feature? YES! It's a pity that Atonement didn't win for Adapted Screenplay. The book was amazing anyways. And Juno for Original Screenplay was well-deserved. But, dear Lord, why didn't they give Cate Blanchett the award for Best Supporting Actress? She played a MAN on screen, A MAN! And they gave it to Tilda effing Swinton in a dress that she sewed out of garbage bags. No offense to Tilda and her dressmaker, but Cate was just WAY better. .___.

Poor Cameron Diaz. I think ~CWnerd12 and I ragged on her every single time the camera pointed to her. Well, you can't blame us... her dress was in need of a serious routing. And we both wondered why on earth she was there in the first place. And Heidi Klum is going to be the death of our friendship. I loved her dress and she absolutely hated it. xD And we both mentioned James McEvoy ten times each last night, mhmm.

Anyways, the Oscars was fun, as usual, maybe a little quieter than any of the other ones I've seen, but, hey. Also, seeing Gary Bussy attacking a horrified Jennifer Garner was worth watching the entire night. xD

First of all, thank you, Anon, for making my day.

Alright, kids, I'm all for religious freedom, but I do find Scientology to be a little, let's say, silly? How could you believe in something when the founder itself said that it was utter bullshit? I don't get their system of faith at all, but I guess, to each their own.

I may not be as religious as people might want, but if you ask me why I believe that there is a God, then I'll tell you to look out your window. How would all this order in the universe exist without some benevolent power behind it? I have yet to see proof that God doesn't exist, but I'm also yet to find solid proof that God does. Yet, I choose to believe the latter. Feel free to agree or disagree. I always like looking at different sides of debate.

But... I don't think Scientology is wrong, I just think it's foundations are too shaky to be considered right. I don't think everyone that doesn't believe in God will go to hell, because I believe all religions are right as long as there's one person left in the world to agree with it. Hell, my puppy is agnostic. But, then again, I've never seen an account of Buddha saying that his religion was bullshit.

However, to each their own. Scientologists are free to be Scientologists.

Soooooo, guys... CLOVERFIELD!

I'm joining the bandwagon and giving you my thoughts about the movie.

And... HERE BE SPOILERS. If you don't want any, kindly scroll down to the bottom of the journal for fun updates! But then, if you haven't seen a Cloverfield spoiler just yet, you haven't been on the internet, eh?

<sub>I think Cloverfield may be my favorite horror/suspense/monster/hey-let's-use-a-videocam-to-tape-people-screaming movie as of yet. People who say that there isn't a plot were probably just annoyed by the ending, but that's just a theory. People do regularly want the "and they lived happily ever after" kind of ending, even though they don't want to admit it. In their subconscious they kind of think, "Well, what was the point of the screaming and horror if they're going to die anyways?"

A lot of people have asked, and this includes my younger brother Von, "Why didn't we see more of the monster? WE WANT MOAR MONSTER!" The simple answer is: Well, kids, it's not just about the monster. It's also about the human side of the story, of you asking yourself, "Well, what would I do in that situation?"

I wouldn't follow the guy that wants to go into the middle of a city that a gigantic... squid/turtle/crab thing wants to trample in order to save someone that you don't know is dead or not, regardless of her being his almost-girlfriend. Marlena should've taken that advice. She was the one I felt most sorry of. She was just unfairly thrown into the whole affair without a choice, and she gets to blow up without warning. That was my favorite scene though.

It was a brilliant movie overall, even though it did make me slightly sick at the end and shook me up quite a bit.

D: I've done all I can to gather up all the volumes and read them, from pestering librarians to spending hours looking for the volumes on rapidshare. And, unfortunately, it's not going to be like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where I didn't have the heart to finish the last one. xD This time, burning curiosity WILL make me finish the last book, damn it.

Alright, so, the Sandman volumes go on sale at about $20.00 each, and I don't currently own any. But, trust me, one day, I WILL own all of them. In fact, one day, I will own all of Neil Gaiman's books! Bwahahahahahaha.

Happy Thanksgiving to you guys who live in the US of A! Today is the day where we celebrate the slaughter of the Native Americans! Er... I mean, today is the day that we say thanks for all the blessings we've had.

Damn it, after about an hour of writing an insanely long journal about gay rights, how awesome I think writers are and about same-sex marriage in the Philippines, Deviantart fucks up and deletes the entire entry. .___.

I literally fell off my chair and slammed my head on my desk.

So let me try again... In a more concise version this time.

Writers are simply amazing. They actually think about literally EVERYTHING concerning their characters. From their favorite color, what it takes to make them fall in love and what their characters would prefer for lunch on Wednesdays if they happen to find themselves in Bangladesh. They can literally bend reality and make apocalypse happen in the next fifteen minutes.

They have the power to break a reader's heart and also to make tidal waves of change. And J.K. Rowling's outing of Albus Dumbledore is just one of the huge leaps she's made for gay rights and tolerance in general.

I know you've prolly read this a million times in the news, but I just wanted an excuse to praise the creative minds of authors.

And I'm just glad I'm not a journalist back home anymore. Otherwise, I'd be bothering the editors of the newspaper I would've been working in to publish my editorial on same-sex marriage, haha! I'm not saying they should legalize it, but to outrightly ban it? Tsk tsk tsk. I can't even manage to look at the government's forums with these topics (LOLOLOL, I was bored.), because I'm just amazed at the close-mindedness of MOST of the people in there.

"Siguro b~ding ka kaya pro-same sex marriage ka. My mind is poisoned? Sino kaya ang na-poisoned ang mind between us? The mere fact that you are pro-same sex marriage, I think you are already infected with some sort of virus. Mag-pacheck ka muna."

So, seriously, mga kababayan... WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Mga kababayan... Be open-minded. Wag n'yong kalimutan na tao pa rin sila, meron silang kaligayahan saka pwede din silang masaktan. At kung ano man ang pinaniwalaan natin nung unang panahon ay nagbago na. :3 Sooo... Campaign for LOVE! Not intolerance!

1.) My profession is currently a pseudo-mother to my sister... since I don't have school or anything else... and there's no one else left to do it.

2.) I graduated high school at the age of 16 -- but that's not very special because every Filipino does!

3.) My favorite significant woman in history is Jeanette Rankin, the first woman in the US senate and the only one who voted not to join WWI and WWII. Yep, if the vote won, interesting things to talk about would have a shortage, but, hey, at least she tried.

4.) I haven't had a real haircut in... four years.

5.) I was 12 when I got my first kiss. Not telling you anything about it though. Sorry, kids.

6.) Whenever I listen to the soundtrack of Anastasia, I get chills. It's one of those... childhood things.

7.) In response to Nihil... I prefer drawing feet than hands! I find them... easier to draw because of their shape.

8.) My favorite Beatles' songs are Blackbird and Dear Prudence... thought you ought to know.
