That is why I always try to do good things and make the right choices.

And today, all that good karma paid off spectacularly.

I had my portfolio review, and everything was absolutely perfect and in my favor.

The reviewer was a graphic designer, like I wanted to be, and he really believed in studying abroad, which is what I want to do! He also loved the fact that I had so much variety in my portfolio, since in my freshman year I will be exposed to many different techniques and mediums.

Basically, by the time the interview was done, he said, and I quote: "You did very well. I'm going to write a good recommendation for you."



I had to work hard to fight down the idiotic grin that was spreading across my face

The best part was that the lady who talked to us beforehand said we wouldn't be able to tell if our interviewer was going to write a good review or not...



In case you can't tell, I'm overjoyed right now.

I spent the next hour squeeing uncontrollably and babbling on about how perfect my review was ^_^

I've basically been accepted into my one true university love! Eeeek!!!

Okay, I'm done. For now XD

I'm really proud of how diverse my artwork is.

I have a little bit of everything: wood sculpture, wax sculpture, traditional drawing, charcoal, watercolors, digital photography, and of course digital artwork.

I'm really looking forward to my portfolio review, but I'm also kind of nervous...

The good news is, I've applied early, so once my recommendation forms and portfolio review are sent in, I'll find out fairly quickly if I've been accepted.



Until then, I'm stuck in high school XD

I'm finally back from my three weeks at Interlochen Arts Camp. There were some bad moments, but overall it was good. I made some awesome friends, such as (Hey girl!), got to play on giant Mac computers, made some cool artwork in Photoshop, handmade books, used a hammer and chisel to make a stone sculpture, and overall had tons of fun. The food was less than stellar and the beds were squeaky and uncomfortable, but I had fun

After Interlochen I went to my grandma's house for a family reunion, including my cousins from Kentucky, one with fiance in tow, the other with his girlfriend. Had a blast, got to go canoeing and tubing.

But the best part was when my younger sister and I beat our fraternity boy cousin and his girlfriend at beer pong. It was hilarious to see our cousin's face when I sunk the ping pong ball... His brother teased him mercilessly ^_^

Overall, awesome time.

Then I finally get back home, after being gone for a month. I want nothing more than to collapse into my bed and sleep for 24 hours. But as I'm hugging my dad, I peer over his shoulder into the dining room and notice something peculiar... Something peculiar in the shape of a nearly new Macintosh computer sitting on the table. I soon recognize it as my grandma's computer which has the Sims 3 on it. After staring at it blankly for a few seconds, I then proceed to shriek in joy and give my dad a HUGE bear hug while screaming 'THANK-YOU!!!!' over and over again ^_^.

Needless to say, I didn't get to bed until about 1 in the morning.

Oh, and I'm about halfway done with my college application to the University of Michigan, which makes me very happy and so ready for college to start.

I think that's it.

Yes, I now posses my own copy of The Sims 3. But not just The Sims 3, oh no.

I own The Sims 3 COLLECTOR'S EDITION!!!!

The summer camp I'm going to in a few weeks requires that I bring a 2GB travel drive with me. So I said offhandedly to my mom "You know, The Sims 3 collector's edition has a 2GB travel drive with it, shaped like a plumbob..."

And you know what she said??

"All right. Let's get it."

I was dancing inside

So we skeedadled over to Best Buy, used a $20 gift card, and got the Collector's edition for the price of the normal edition. I am now oogling the shiny box and playing with my new travel drive excessively.

This past Memorial weekend I got to go to the marvelous Canada (I don't care what others say, Canada is awesome).
It was a school field trip, which means everything was planned and always running late, but it was still a lot of fun. I spoke French and people understood me!! I feel proud

We got to go to Quebec and Montreal, which were beautiful cities. I especially loved Old Quebec because it was very European and old fashioned. Like stone buildings, copper roofs, chateaus, boutiques, quaint cafes, etc.

My favorite part overall was definitely the free time we got walking around in the city, sightseeing and souvenir shopping. I got three keychains, a beautiful shirt, and gifts for my mom and dad. Oh, and some postcards with kitties on them ^_^

The food was amazing, but the lack of milk and excess of water made me a little unhappy. We had this one dinner that was basically a breakfast, but it was completely drenched in maple syrup. It was delicious ^_^

I also learned how to juggle a baton fleur! (Flower stick). It took many tries, and much flinging of the stick, but I eventually got it. I've also tried teaching my family, and they seem to be learning, though they're having trouble with it like I was.

Overall, it was a great trip, and it allowed me to miss half a day of school! Which is always a good thing

I just got back from my spring vacation. I'm technically still on break, but I'm back home.

I have to say, looking back, it was tons of fun! Lots of shopping, cool stuff, lots of good (expensive) food, and I got to go to my favorite city in the whole wide world!!

Definitely an awesome vacation, if you ask me.

Now if I can just get my homework to go away...

Overall I think I did rather well on all of my exams. Calculus went surprisingly well, Ceramics was like the easiest exam in the world, French was pretty easy, Government went well, Bio was okay and so was English.

Anywho. I dressed up as Jun, which was awsm cept for the fact that the wig was super itchy and only three ppl knew who I was that I didn't tell. Oh well.

I also carried a whip around in school. It was fun

So yea. Then me, my friends and my sister went trick-or-treating. We got candy. Especially chocolate, which is epic win. Also, there were these random drunk dudes who kept talking to us and tried to guess who we were and this other drunk guy who asked a riddle before we could get candy... It was weird.

Then I went over to a friend's house and watched movies and played with kitties and played murder. It was fun.

Soon I may upload pics of my pumpkin and myself in costume. If I ever get around to it

My family went up to my grandparents house, where we enjoyed various and assorted activities, such as canoeing, card games, board games, watching 'The Birdcage' ( I Robin Williams ), playing Sims 2 Uni, celebrating my grandma's birthday, and other things.

But, with all these good things, there were some bad.

My grandpa and I were canoeing together on the river, him at the stern, me at the bow. All of a sudden the current shot us into a bunch of branches. I decided to save my eyes from gouging, so I grabbed the branches and tried to shove them away. The branches were too strong and they knocked me back, tipping the canoe. I landed on my back; my grandpa went under.

Needless to say, it was a memorable canoe trip

On a more somber note, my cousin Michael passed away this weekend. He was born with muscular dystrophy, a disease that slowly takes away your ability to control your muscles. He was confined to a wheelchair most of his life. In the end, his throat closed up and he died. The funeral is this Wednesday.

R.I.P - Michael

In other news, I got my new car! Well, it's actually an old car. I drove it most of the way home from my grandparents house. The problem is, it's filthy, so today my sister, my mom and I got to clean it out.

Yay...

SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW!!!

I'm happy, nervous, and a little scared all at the same time. But I'm looking forward to seeing my friends again. And I have some teachers I've already had!

My best friend is African American, another of my friends is Vietnamese, and my bf is Arab.

I just find that this post has some interesting points.



Now I don't want any flames. I love everyone no matter what the color of skin. But I think that in categorizing so many things, in the attempt to not be racist is almost becoming reverse racism. why can't we all just be "People"?

Someone finally said it.

How many are actually paying attention to this?

There are African Americans,
Mexican Americans,
Asian Americans,
Arab Americans,
Native Americans, etc.

.....And then there are just -

Americans. (or Canadians)

Some pass me on the street
And sneer in my direction.
They Call me 'White girl,'
'Cracker,' 'Honkey,'
'Whitey,' 'Caveman,'

.....And that's OK.

You say that whites commit a lot

Of violence against you,
So why are the ghettos the most
Dangerous places to live?

They have the United Negro College Fund.
They have Hispanic History Month.
They have Martin Luther King Day.
They have Asian History Month.
They have Black History Month.
They have Cesar Chavez Day.
They have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
They have Yom Hashoah.
They have Kwanzaa.
They have the NAACP.

If we had WET (White Entertainment Television)
.....We'd be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day
....You would call us racists.

If we had the White History Month
.....We'd be racist.

If we had any organization for only whites
To 'advance' OUR lives,
.....We'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,
A Black Chamber of Commerce,
And then we just have the plain
Chamber of Commerce.

Wonder who pays for that?
If we had a college fund that only gave
White students scholarships
.....You know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly-proclaimed
Black-only Colleges in the US,
Yet if there were 'White-only Colleges'
.....THAT would be a racist college.

Brown, yellow and red,

I had tons of fun this passing summer season. Camping in Canada, pool parties, Barothy, Chicago (WICKED!!! ), all that was lots of fun

But now that I've finished my summer reading, i've realized that I have little else left to do this summer. Aside from writing my school paper, I don't have much else planned.

I'm actually starting to get bored with summer.

I spend most of my days on the computer, reading, playing on the DS, or napping...

Every... single... day...

I never knew I would hope for school to start, but I kinda am...

On a lighter note, I caught DarkeAlchemist's 3000 kiriban (I think that's what it's called...)!

That's about all I can say. The synchronization, the precision, the detail, the tai chi and dancing was sheer awesome.

I will never look at Super Bowl half time shows the same again...

I really think my art is improving
I don't know what compelled me to draw that intense and difficult scene from Tarot Cafe, but i'm so glad I tried and didn't give up. It turned out waaaay better than I could of ever hoped

But seriously. The musical was AWSM!! The effects were astounding, and the singing, especially Elphaba, was PHENOMENAL!! The way she belted out those notes in 'Defying Gravity' and 'No Good Deed' was awe inspiring.

On to the exams:

U.S. History: I think that one went very well. I was very proud of myself for remembering most of the information

Pre-Calc: Another one I think went well, which actually surprised me. Math wasn't one of my strong subjects; I just happened to pass the class due to some fluke... But I was happy that I caught some of my mistakes and corrected them. Yay me!

Tomorrow:

Desktop Publishing: 30 multiple choice questions about a computer program. Possibly one of the easiest exams I will take.

Biology: Possibly the hardest exam I will take. Phylums, classes, reproduction, life cycles, various body systems...

Oh well. Back to the books! *crams*
