Lately I've been putting together samplers while starting work on a new comic concept for Kevin Pickett of ScreamingMonkeys.com [link]

Won't be mentioning the title just yet, but watch out for pencils and inks of the first few pages from me here on my DA page. It's a violent action gore fest. Lots of Inking fun to be sure

Anyways, Comic Con came and went, it was a little too much for me, so I planted myself in Hall H and barely cracked the floor. Next year I'll be there for 5 days so I get more time on Sunday to do the floor walk through.

Sent out three packets of our "Crash, Cash and Bullets", let's see if anything happens with that while I do this new short comic and my own titles.

Crash, Cash and Bullets is a project I worked on a few months back and I plan to send more packets out to more publishers. Hoping I get a gig for the next year with it, if not I have Hangwire and Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles mapped out and in progress as well, so crossing fingers I get something cooking with those.


Trying to map out and develop more of two of the other titles for Zuda and NDM, "Blood of the Black Sun" and "Fractured". Probably start drawing the pages by end of the month, already have most of the scripts done.

I am really practicing and working on the quality of my work this year, and I hope you guys check my work out as it progresses.

Progress Report
My website has been getting semi regular updates, with a new Left 4 Dead Review by Paul Theimer.


We're upgrading the site with more content soon, including a store, business co op with a game retailer and more Movie, Comic and Game Reviews and articles. Keep an eye out or follow me on Twitter [link]

Started penciling the book, "Artemis Strange" by Kevin Pickett [link] I'll try to post a few pages here in the next week.

Crash, Cash and Bullets is a project I worked on a few months back and I plan to solicit it at Comic Con and to Publishers. Hoping I get a gig for the next year with it, if not I have Hangwire and Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles mapped out and in progress as well, so crossing fingers I get something cooking with those.


Going to produce some promotional material for Comic Con this week as well. Getting a print run of promotional cards on glossy hard stock, so if you go by the Free B booth at Comic Con in the Pavilion, look out for my stuff with RNABrand on the cards.

Also finished all of my commissions, and will be finishing an old one and getting on one new commission this week. I'll try to post what I can through the next couple of weeks.

I am really practicing and working on the quality of my work this year, and I hope you guys check my work out as it progresses.

Yeah, I don't update much on my Journal, and I haven't put in as many pieces of art in my Gallery as normal. Been busy writing, doing business, working with clients and all that jazz.

But, here's an update:

Have commissions finalizing, so I'll be getting back into comic art soon. Hope to have new comic strips on my site. The Archives are o plenty, but why repost old stuff... time to bring in the new!

Have a new commission coming up as well, doing some website, and then onto the projects we've been planning.

Also have a new staff writer/reviewer on my site.

We plan to offer art and comic strips to our reviews to add a little humor and eye candy to the reviews. Should be fun. So far I posted his Fable 2 w/expansion this week. Check out RNA Brand to read it [link]

Greetings!

It's been over a month since I updated this journal, but I have been posting comic art... Not that too many of you read my journal anyways, but that's not the point.

Let's update some news, shall we?

First, I am almost done scripting and working with my co-writer on the western comic. Preview art for the first 3 pages with page 4 on the way is in my Gallery. Color samples still coming in for page 3 as well.

Next is a comic book created and written by Kevin Pickett. The man behind "Chester: The Crafty Pervert" which I was commissioned to color a cover that can be viewed in the gallery with book information.

Also, I am posting daily art, sketches, comic strips and news on my Blog finally. I plan to fix it up a little more and add more content soon. Hope you stop by RNA Brand [link]

So, it's been going pretty good, very productive and the future looks even better with some drawing and painting gigs just over the Horizon.

Also have a secret project in development while the western I've been working on nears completion.

So, here's what's up on the work and projects front.

Got this new DA Page Layout thing, and they updated it just today, the top bar with gallery stats info has a different layout.

Not bad. I like it.

1) Have good team mates that watch and help each other out
2) Try not to move too far ahead or behind your teammates
3) Know where all the best spots are for defending yourself
4) Learn how to Evade Tank while setting him on fire and shooting him down
5) Learn some glitchy secrets on each level to avoid damage and give lots of it
6) Learn what Weapons are best for different special infected
7) Melee like a madman
8) Use Pipe Bombs and Molotov's wisely and effeciently
9) Use Gas Tanks, Containers for use against hordes and Tanks
10) Talk to your Teammates with your headsets

To illustrate how much of an addicted loser I am over Left 4 Dead, I only have 4 achievements left out of 50.

Missing:

Upset Stomach (No Survivors hit by Boomer)
Untouchables (No Survivors take damage in Finale)
Nothing Special (No Survivors take damage from Special Infected)
Safety First (No Survivors take Friendly Fire Damage)

Notice these are all team effort achievements, which is why it's so hard.. sometimes people just can't get teamwork together properly. However I don't play on Easy or Normal Difficulty.

Happy New Years to anyone who reads my journal.

It's going to be a busy new year, and I am extremely motivated to finish up these projects I've been diligently working on. Can't wait, because there's more on tap coming over the horizon, which I am extremely excited about.

Hangwire - I'll finally have the cash in my pocket to get the fist issue colored up in full.

Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles - After these two other projects I am working on, I will finish up some scripts and short stories for an web series and print anthology which will feature short stories from our main storyline in Legacy.

Crash, Cash and Bullets - A western story. Not more can I say until end of January, which I'll be previewing up to 6 pages of it at least.

Blood of the Black Sun - A Vlad/Dracula story, in development and collaborating with a small team

A Trade paperback Anthology yet to be named - I'll have more news on this in my Blog at [link] RNA Brand.

And, a yet to be announced situation that may propel things even further. I am hoping I get to participate and help build it, but it will be the biggest thing for my future as a content producer.

Then there's my comic strips and a few other little projects for fun.

Very busy, but a lot of fun.

So, Christmas came and went. Good riddance.

Didn't get anything done at all on Christmas... I hate that.

Anyways, I am updating daily on my websites now, and posting in a forum to keep me moving constantly, so today I am starting Daily Deviations, also more comic strips that will regularly be posted on my main website and blog RNA Brand.com check above.

Finishing up a project package for solicitation to publishers. Won't announce anything until I actually get the legal stuff out of the way first, but there's some art previews of a Western in which it encompass'.

I am using twitter, but for the life of me I don't know how to add it to my account here... also using Slurp, a real fast and easy comment making app and networking site. I like it, it's easy to use and logs quick comments about what you or your friends are doing.

On to other Projects: Currently writing up some scripts and designing a few projects that will be revealed at a later date, but hoping to get most of it done by years end.

The other is Hangwire, which is getting fully inked slowly but surely, and have been writing up new stories for the Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles story.

More to come on those, since they are my pet projects for years now.

As for the Production Company, scripts and art is being completed and has been completed. Waiting on filming sessions, which are always the hardest parts. Hope to get that situated sometime this year (pff), and will do some stuff on the side for it in the meantime.

Well, more of the comic pages for the new project is underway, and you can see all three parts of the pencils, inks and colors of the project, colored by Ashley, whom did a great job and her style of colors really fits the art and story!

Still trying to get more pages done on the story, but we're still fleshing that out on my end.

I've been TRYING to complete my two last commissions for a couple of clients, be lagging on that but I am almost done...

And, I have been trying to work out the pages for You Could Live Forever and Still Die Tomorrow by Jarett Kobek. I haven't heard from him in a couple of weeks now, so I am hoping he's ok... probably waiting for my slow ass to get his book complete. It's coming! I swear!

I am satisfied with the latest pages, and it's gotten better with each go. Hope to have the book complete within two weeks... I am pressing hard on comic art these days.

On to other news: My partner has been MIA lately, and I recently wrote a few scripts for filming. Sketch Comedy with horror short film in the works. Until I hear from him, I am in limbo on our Production Company, however production is going on with three of our comic titles, and I plan on new comic strips too. I will post a couple of previews here soon... but here's one I already posted:

New Comic Page Art has been posted, new videos on our Youtube Channel, and a whole bunch of news coming out.

I've also visited a Chat Q and A with Nick Redfern, book writer and columnist that is a Paranormal Researcher and Investigator. A post on that will be added to my website soon, and we plan a interview with him and Greg Bishop, another Paranormal investigator and researcher.

Yup. Comic Con 08 was a blast, lots of goodies to offer up. First, I did go see The Dark Knight, but Imax was still sold out a week later!!

Anyways, it was all Joker! He creates so much chaos and madness through out the city and kills damn near everyone; cops, citizens, his own men!! And some parts were so funny...

Comic Con was so much fun.

I am starting to edit and upload some samples from the show, with Game previews, demos and panel documentation with Kevin Smith, Judd Apatow, Seth Rogan and so much more!

Also, I have some fun footage of the floor, games, art and of course Movie Panels. I did sneak some footy of Star Wars stuff, and some Mortal Kombat vs DCU in the panel with Ed Boon. They announced 4 more characters; Jax, Lui Kang, Green Lantern, The Joker (Got the hugest response) and one other. The other panels were mostly Kevin Smith, Jud Appatow and his new movie, Seth Rogan, with others of note, Brendan Fraser, Jet Li and others from the new Mummy flick. There's others... and news from Pixar with an exclusive announcement and trailer to their new flick, "Up".

I rarely trek to the Movie theaters, just being disappointed as usual with the stuff coming out.

It's been 5 or 6 years since the last movie, but I am definitely going to see Batman in Imax glory while at Comic Con.

Speaking of Comic Con. I'll be attending, mostly for the panels and previews, but as per everybody attending, I will be documenting some of it as much as possible anyways. It will be posted on [link] RNA Brand's Blog with some extras featured on a forum I've yet to post a link about.

The other panels were mostly Kevin Smith, Jud Appatow and his new movie, Seth Rogan, with others of note, Brendan Fraser, Jet Li and others from the new Mummy flick. There's others... and news from Pixar with an exclusive announcement and trailer to their new flick, "Up".

Now, onto comic art and artwork in general.

I've been very busy with multiple projects, commissions and other stuff, and the new production company website has some delays as the designer and coder is out of town for the time being. When we get back into full mode we should get things done, which frees up more time for my partner and I to begin filming our Comedy sketches and other commercial type content for our website.

After a short break last week, slowed down my production slightly, I've gotten fully into my projects.

The Latest Version of Firefox (3.0), has been released and it's available for free download.

Faster, sleeker... and more security and Crashes a lot on Vista...

Well, that's my Experience. More news on that front coming soon!

As for what's being released by yours truly, well... working on it.

Right now, I'm on pages 2-5 of "You Could Live Forever And Still Die Tomorrow". Should be done this Friday. Might cut it close reaching our deadline... Goal is 1 week before Comic Con, and I need 25 pages (minus 5 from this week) and a cover!

And, on top of that, pages 2 and 3 are being laid out for "After Life". A story I am doing sample art for solicitation. More news and updates on that later. Hope to post the penciled pages here this weekend.

Some artwork was posted here, along with how I lay out a comic page. I'll post the final pencils and ink work in progress to go along with the layouts. The sequence in the story is so good... warmed up on page 1 and 2, but 3 and 4 are going to be great to see visually. It's good stuff. Cheers to Jarett Kobek for the story.

As for RNA Comics and our own Projects?

RNA Comic Strips are on a short break while I break down these next pages and projects. Hangwire is being inked a little, hoping to have the first issue drawn, colored and lettered this month. Been working on our Production Companies website, which I have help in that, and so far it looks pretty good. All the functions are not all put together, and content still needs to be produced for a grand opening.

We'll also be commissioning artists to produce work on some of our titles, comics and galleries.

"Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles" is making the rounds... I have a couple of writers that may take a stab at this Anthology in Paranormal, Horror and Native American stories. Artists will be commissioned as well. I'll announce that later this Summer.

All in all, very busy!

No. Not breaking your skateboard in half.

Just been trying to finish off some projects, and I've teamed up with a writer, and we're trying to get this book done and out before Comic Con next July.

The book and story are very retro detective noir stuff, and I really like it. The samples I've posted are just that... Samples. More conceptual work and actual pages has been under way, and we're shooting for a 25 page release before Comic Con.

Look out for a preview on our websites.

Another project is by another writer who's waiting for my sample pages to get back to him for solicitation. I'll announce more when things have progressed.

RNA Comics is under going an overhaul, as is our new Production Company website. We're about to start filming our comedy sketches and skits, and the last few scenes are about to wrap up on the first independent short film. Look out for my announcement in the next month or even sooner if we get the site up and running this week.

The Big Wachowski of the Week

Democratic Nomination. If Clinton would (and won't) get it, she'd install programs and continue policies that aid profit margins for specific corporations. While in the long run, it would help the economy in the Higher Middle Class and Higher Class, it would take jobs away from Americans.

Now, with Obama, he would be a weak President during a time of "War". He's Soft, and has no defined Economic Strategy that would help improve our Economy. Also, he's definitely inexperienced and will rely on Democratic support in Congress for Strategy and Reform. The Senate will have more power, however.

Either way, The Democratic Party is very poorly represented, but people want Change, not another Clinton Regime or a Bush Regime.

Weekly Top Ten
This week I am breaking down the best tools, in my opinion, for comic book illustration. Now, by no means is this what you should use, just my own experience and experimentation to achieve the potential I can possibly get to with the materials available. I draw up to 4 Pages per day, whether Comic Strip, Comic Book Sequential, Pinup or Illustration, along with Painting Murals or my own personal art and coloring in Photoshop, so obviously I need a lot of materials... I used to be a minimalist, and only buy ink, quills and one mechanical pencil with a few sheets of paper. It was economical, but you get a linear ritual of work that doesn't evolve and progress well.

Anyways, here's a list of supplies:

1) Paper - The best paper I've found that agrees with all mediums is the Strathmore 400 and 500 Series 3 Ply. Expensive, but works well with any tool, even Quills and Acrylics. Hell, even Chalk Pastel and Oil Paints... I only use those for Pinups or Main Cover Illustrations. You can get that from Blue Line Pro Comic Artist Supplies. Or, you can order large sheets through Dick Blick Art Supplies or from your local Art Store. Those sheets you can get 3 and half Comic Format sizes out of if you get the 32x40 size sheets, which is cheaper than buying the Blue Line stuff.

If you want Economical Paper and get the highest Quality? Eon Boards or Canson Comic Art Boards work well... Here's a place that sells Canson Boards online for 12.00 USD a pack (24 sheets) [link] Unfortunately, you have to wait for Stock. Dick Blick Supplies carries them too, for a buck more or so [link] If you're tight on cash, and need a good paper that is pre-ruled, those are the ones to buy. Or you can just go to an Office Supply store and buy A3 sized Copy Paper for 10 bucks for 100 sheets. I've been there... got me through High School and some College Good for layouts if you want to go there, and that's helpful for story telling.

Eon [link] is Runner up for Economical Paper and is my favorite for Pencil work. I prefer this brand to any other, because you can buy bulk or set amounts you want, and the pencil work on them is pretty tight. Not a lot of smudging if you're using an H lead, which I do.

2) Pencils - I use several Pencils. Two Mechanicals at 5.0, but one is 4h and the other is H. Then I have two Lead Holder pencils, which I prefer on Eon Boards. I use an H and an HB for those. The other pencils are 2B wood pencils in any brand. The one I use the most is the Mechanical 5.0 with H lead, I think it's 2H though. Not entirely sure, but they both come out on the Eon Boards pretty much the same. I don't like smudging on my paper, and I don't like to use any paper over my art, it's too much a hassle for me to move everything around.

3) Inks - What I use is Pelikan India Drawing Ink. I plan on trying out Black Cat India, and Speedball India. I like to buy Bulk sizes, it's way worth it in the long run and Pelikan was getting too expensive for me for the smaller containers. While I've been here on DA over the last year, I was updating previews, work in progress and other preliminary work for the expansion and grand opening of our New Production Company.

Well, that time has come to leave DA to a semi regular basis for the work I display.

Mirror Stewedios (Graphic Studio) will continue to update its website with news or previews, which will be posted here on DA. Select items of previews, sketches and works in progress will be posted and so will the Journal on a weekly basis.

What will be happening from now on is Daily Updated comics, art and blog on our main website, RNA Brand.com [link]

So, please visit and subscribe to our RSS feed for the latest updates and feeds.

I will be posting several times daily with Comic Strips, Comic Book pages and Art. There's other categories that will be available, so watch out for announcements there too.

Now, on to news:

I posted some Tablet Sketches done in Photoshop. Pretty fun stuff and I am still learning to use more of the tools in Photoshop which work well with Graphic Tablets.

More to come on those, just because they're quick, fun and I get to play with different characters.

I've begun designing and working with a writer for an upcoming sample book. I've also begun designing out a new comic book title, tentatively titled "Zero QonCERN". I like the title, and it fits the book story synopsis, which I will post previews of and explain the backdrop this next week.

My commissions are done, with exception to the final painting commission I am still working on and a couple of cartoon color jobs. I've strung those along for a couple of months, but I was given whatever time I want. There might be one more commission from "Project X" next week, though.

That's about it, so I guess the next batch of art will be nothing but comic pages and cartoon work... finally. Well, some paintings as well I know some of the MySpace people and my commissioner will be happy I will finish their toons up!

Speed Racer. The Wachowski's latest flick... do these guys ever do anything of their own creation??? (And you can't count the Matrix, since it's a rip from the "Third Eye" and Jordan Maxwell's Matrix of Power, just gave it a Live Action Anime influence.)

I swear every film or comic they do is a rip off from some other piece of content or making a live action versions (and terribly done) of another property.

I am not hating on them, just pointing it out. I am completing the last few commissions, and will be open for new ones this week. If interested note me.

Lots of running amok with the whole Orphan Bill issue. There's plenty of information on the subject, and as it affects the art community, it was on fire all over the internet this weekend.

Now, on to some news. Work on the website will continue this week. I am doing a little bit at a time, and writing up scripts or code for the site is a headache for me... but it will get done just in time for the completion of our short film, new comics and skits.

So, business as usual this week, and I've begun painting the native female drawings I posted recently, works in progress, but I am setting up a whole slew of art for sale locally. I haven't done that in ages... not sure how the response will be on my new work, but it's been so long that anyone has seen anything new out here that it may hit pretty good with the locals.

Anyways,

Check back here over the next few days as I complete more work and post them. Some stuff won't be posted, like I am finishing inks on a few "Hangwire" pages, some paintings and more commission work for Project X.

Zeitgeist. This Video represents information that is nothing new, and has ideas that have no other corroborating evidence in some parts, but overall extrapolates a History of the "Christ" idea, which has persisted through out every culture and civilization through out history, while not trying to delve into the origins of the prehistory of the first collected works of this idea.

Also, the throw in of political schemes from the modern day don't directly tie in to the overall premise.

The controversy is always due to some religious dogmatic contradiction by a researcher, but the reality of the video is this: To sell books and get a theatrical or DVD film made for sale. It's about dollars... so it fits into the Big Wachowski.

Filming continues, website construction in progress, commissions being finalized... and new completed artwork will be posted on DA very shortly.

Also, I have decided to accept the commission on Project X, and the rate has to be set up for the size and quality of work, which I am waiting for an agreement on. I won't be able to show any samples, however, until there's permission.

More Filming on our first real Independent Movie project was produced today, which went pretty well for the most part. Not a lot of the scene was done, but we got a heavy shot with some FX that looked very good. We've got an industry pro working with us on the make up and wardrobe type effects, which is killer. The make up on our main guy took about 2 hours or more to complete. But, with the experience and work that's been going on, it should be a lot faster in future production.

I shot some documentary special behind the scenes stuff, and will add production notes, which I will post soon enough, so look out for that one. I won't be posting the surprise work that is in the film, due to the nature of the work it would give too much away and take away from the effect it would have on the content and audience.

We also have a crop of video skits we plan to archive and post on our website. All comedy, and it's some funny stuff. We'll be doing new skits and parodies very soon, with the help of Nick Olds, a stand up and web comedian who's collaborating with me and will join in on the fun. Look out for comic strips with his brand of humor coming soon, and we'll have MySpace exclusives, so if you're on MySpace, add Cartoon Tom or RNA Brand on MySpace to get the scoop when it's released. Subscribe to the blog for announcements and posts.

Other stuff:
Downloaded and will be working with Daz 3d Studio and Blender. I'll be using whatever 3D rendered objects I create on the websites layout and navigation, fused with art and photoshop work, with Flash animated components. Now, if I can just free up more time for that!

The Clintons made 108 million dollars since leaving office in 2000, and 30 million went into taxes and charities...

Of course, Hillary didn't want to divulge that income, and it looks bad that 100s of millions were pumped into her campaign, and some into the Clinton "Economic Summit", which makes them 10s of millions annually.

That doesn't take away from the hypocrisy and hate mongering from Obama, although it doesn't show from his campaign, it does show from his wife and pastor, as well as his Book.

New color was being done, then new comic pages, and the new website... Project X rears its head once again!

I am thinking of declining it. But, if I do anything new for it, it's going to cost slightly more this time. It's only two images, but I want to get off that commission to move onto my own projects. New images are on the way, but this week my goal is to finish all my commissions (3), MySpace toons, and Website Graphic work and Layout.

Government Spending: The War on Drugs + The War on Terror = We Fit the Bill for Illegal Drugs and Weapons Smuggling along with War on Terror Acts and Bills for Influx of Money into Organizations and Corporations that are Subcontracted out from our Government.

With the Government, especially Organizations as the CIA, DOD and NIA, NSA and Homeland Security Agencies that are in control of these organizations now, which are headed by ex-Contra operatives, politicians and factions directly connected to the Bush family, Clinton organizations, and Oil Cartels... we have a network of controlling Drug Dealers that are our own Government Operations.

Combine the hard drug and Pharmaceutical infiltration of our country, with Media and Lack of Educational Funding, we have a mind numbing and dumbing down of the nation, boxed into Foreclosures on our "Gated Community" homes, mortgages and credit that initiates a smaller country, a smaller box to live in without any fight or awareness of the mechanisms that drive the economy and the money/power structure.

Real? Crazy? Or are Television and Newspapers 'quality' control, terms of mass distraction.

News:

Finally, I feel I have more breath in me, as I felt suffocated by workload the last two weeks. I have several other commissions, but, here's a short update: Project X Commission is finished, finally!

Now our Production company is about to move 100% forward, which took a short hiatus until other projects were complete.

The grand opening of the website will include Flash navigation and animated cartoons, comics, film and music in all types of genres including funny skits and other film content, and we're about to start a Podcast radio type show which will be available on our site also. We will talk about our film productions, bring in some of the actors, also talk and critique films, music, games and comics.

All of this will all be viewable for free, with no subscriptions, no logins (with exception to the blog) and charges! An Apparel and Merchandise Store will also be available.

On to the Mural commission. I will finish it up Monday or Tuesday and get some photos of it for posting here.

The Online Swindler taking credit for artists works is being turned in, and multiple artists have joined together and filed a fraud complaint.

I thought that issue was dead when I spoke to artists last month about it, and we found it was a scam.

Now, it's over I hope. No names mentioned in the complaint, nor any other info to be revealed, as Digital Webbing has not come forth and replied in conjunction with this. So, as a fellow artist on DA and using the internet to commission or receive commissions, the swindler is being turned in.

More news!

Digital Webbing and a fellow artist has started threads on this issue. DW has stepped up and deleted his ads, and will watch out for him in the future.

Also, clients were taken advantage of as well. Josh Hoopes is telling Paying publishers that he is the artist, and gets the payments from them. They have been shocked but remained cool about the situation. We have Josh on watch now, so I guess that's a victory against a parasite and scam artist.

Now, on to Real News:
Our Production Company's first Film began shooting last week. Earlier this evening we filmed more scenes. The lighting and cinematography looked great... Our Website is still under construction. I have a logo design for it, and many other subsections.

Well,

Not to say I am a professional. I am a Freelance Independent with a local name I suppose. Commissions come in from clients that know who I am or find me through name alone.

The Mural that was commissioned had to take a back seat this week due to my client on Project X. He wants a new image done, and had me do some edits and make changes on some of the character designs.

I hope to finish the Mural off by this Thursday, I don't want to keep my other client waiting.

The art on black paper was also put on hold while I finish up details on Project X. I bought some frames and new art materials to produce more illustrations. I want to go bigger as far as surface dimensions. Also, I plan on buying new computer supplies. I have targeted a nice 22 inch monitor and I want to pick up a Wacom tablet this week too.

For the commissioned colorists I've selected and have been working with, I have more pages coming. Dealing with my client is sometimes time consuming getting down what he wants to see from the project. Look out for new stuff this week! And, thanks for being patient.

Updated new images. Just some works in progress. I know it was said I wouldn't post for a couple of weeks, but since the new system went up and running a week ago, things are a lot faster and moving full steam ahead, just thought I'd share

Projects slated this week:

The Mural I've been commissioned to do is moving. I have the color flats and palette painted in, now comes the fun parts of hues & values. After that comes the airbrush... now that'll be fun.

Our first film project has some story boards done by yours truly, with more to do tomorrow and throughout the week. Location of filming is under construction (cleanup), which will be done tomorrow. I have no time and wouldn't volunteer for that one...

Project X is back in swing 100 percent now. I tried not to update, but I couldn't help but show a 'lil bit.

Some other side stuff are a series of native images on black paper. I'll post a couple this week... hopefully. I am using color pencils and probably white ink.

So, my old drive crashed and burned last week.

My work was delayed 3 days in an effort to get data back online. Nothing worked, so I bought Windows Vista and got my Norton software working fully also.

I didn't want to have to spend another 200 on an OS or Hardware, but I did, so not only am I out a few days of work, but also 200 bucks, plus another 100 for a new processor to put together my old comp.

Anyways, I am up and running 100 percent and I am trying out my Verizon wireless connection to the internet also, which is as fast as Dialup. Pheh!

I have 30 days free and can return the modem, so I am not concerned.

Project X was delayed, and the color guys are all waiting on my new pages... well, more importantly pay for them. Updates here will be halted for a couple of weeks while I crank out Project X and get back on schedule. The mural is drawn out and ready to be painted I am happy bout that one, though.

News for 01/25/08

I didn't mention that I bought a new computer board, satellite wireless connection (DSL and Cable aren't available where I live) and some digital video software. A small Shuttle XPC box, and Avid Liquid. Both work great!

That's probably the reason my updates have been more frequent recently. The system I have set up is almost 10 times faster. What would take me 2-4 hours to do takes 2-8 minutes now. That is so much more helpful.

New Mural Commission Begins tonight. I caught a cold middle of the week, so I got slowed up and didn't get the plywood I need. I am good to go now.

I'm working on the Mural Commission!

Yup, will be getting the plywood and begin drafting up a color scheme and layout on bristol paper and colored pencils. I'll post that tomorrow.

Website is being worked on. A production studio is being looked at, with my partner buying up a nice lot, hopefully the one he's been eying. It's 10 acres with a Barn and Trailers... reminds me of a mini-Skywalker Ranch.

I've also begun talks with my client whom I am doing the mural for. He's a published writer and I asked about doing a film adaption of one of his novel. He will develop the screenplay adaptation and my partner and I will try to capture his vision... and we will not tamper with his script in any way!

The way it's supposed to be done, Hollywood!!

I've finally begun the Mural Commission I've been anticipating! I sketched out a compilation, which the client had an idea, but we got together and brainstormed an overall painting, which I think is very fun. I'll post a photo of it when it's done. It will be acrylic flats, with airbrush rendering and effects, plus a little oil color. I will be working on Plywood, Varnished with a nice smooth surface texture.

Can't wait!

I am designing the website right now off and on, and it will showcase some extra work. We are also getting the materials and building info to set up our Production Studio, complete with Warehouse Sound Stage! We have a guy that can build that apparently, so I am very excited on the prospects of producing all the material soon!

Yesterday I tried out horror makeup and fx techniques, getting used to painting over props and such. I also got sculpting material and started to sculpt body parts and busts. I had fun. I plan on making Action Figure molds for my comics and movies. We'll be offering them once the site goes up and films are published.

At the early stages of this, my partner was the financial backer and executive producer, but opted out and left me hanging although he fronted the cash. Things turned out for the better in the long run though, hence the Production Company.

So,

2008 begins with completion of Project X, hopefully by Monday I get the last page done and out to the color people for completion.


From there, I on to some design work for a new Production Company. The name is native and we'll be doing production in film, comics, apparel and promotional work. Construction on the website will begin Monday, and we should have some news, about, logo designs, promotional art and comic strips to post on there while we begin filming. It will be in conjunction with RNA Brand and Mirror Stewedios. Link is on my page here.

Happy New Years...

Although, it's going to be a tragic New Year for many thanks to the economy and 'resident' Bush. I hate to see so many lose their homes and file for bankruptcy. But... it's a credit debt system, with an over inflated number value of the Stock Market on top of unemployment.

Buy Gold! It will go over 1500 per ounce in the very near future... wish I had the cash back in 2000 to buy, since it's gone from 230 all the way to 800 hundred since. Come on American Dollar, keep falling!

I don't care what anyone says about things being peachy, but when the dollar depreciates, as ours has... it's called a depression! Sheesh! Inflation of goods... yeah, that really is the cause. (sarcasm)

What's new?

Finishing the colors and last 2-4 pages of Project X. There's been delays and other commissions to finish, plus a new project for my local town... something to do with a flag. And finally, next week I get to do mural production... can't wait!

Well, I will post new images this week. I have some illustrations and comic pages coming up, and I'm about to commission color people to help out, so my books can be ready in a couple of months. I can't wait to deliver on that one, it's been several years in the making. (Been reading and researching as much as possible to do these books right!)

The Legacy anthology will cover 5 stories each issue (hopefully quarterly, but may just be 2 books a year), plus an original story available for free on MirrorStewedios.com, which I plan to release short stories every 6-8 weeks.

Hangwire issue one is almost done. Full color Scifi action adventure hitting you right in that space between your ears. I will preview the first 10 pages on Mirrorstewedios.com as well. Another that is 5 years in the making.

Top Ten Video Games of '07 (While innovation has come into play since the Wii, there's still so much more that can be done. Getting tired of linear first person shooters. You all need to stop!)

I look forward to 08, there's so many good games about to hit, maybe I'll get the PS3, but it's too much a glorified Blue Ray disc player at the moment, which I think won't last... HD DVD vs. Blue Ray. Definitely an updated Beta vs. VHS, but I think Blue Ray will stick around, but it's not going to outsell or be the sole winner for home theater systems.

As soon as that PS3 has some games to play... like 2009, I may pick it up. But, I like my 360... easily a great purchase now with the lower price, two games and extra features. Now is the best time to get one. Glad I wasn't an idiot and got the first gen products... suckers! (This coming from a guy who bought a Panasonic 3DO, which was actually a good system, but it was way flawed in some areas of studio production and lack of licensed games, and wasn't marketed very well.)

Updates

I've posted color this week!

I know. I'm amazed, but I need to spend more time on coloring still.

Check out my gallery, there's more updates and drawings, plus some old stuff.

Now... if I can just get myself going and put the controller down... (XBox 360, you bastard!) Crackdown is really a fun game and all, plus frustrating at times, but I can't seem to step away. It's a great game.

Anyways,

My next updates will be more color work and some previews of penciled pages on Hangwire and Legacy. I am almost done with Project X, which you can see a promo piece colored by Monk Art [link]

I will be looking for a full time color person for my Hangwire and Legacy books soon. I have some people on file to hit up, but if you think you're up to the task, check out my Gallery for samples and Note me about coloring.

Hope things work out and I get through to my deadlines... I want to get the books done by March and April, so I can get printing before the SDCCI.

Unfortunately, I am unsure I will get the booth space I want for the Con. I've talked to Karl Altstaetter [link] A personal favorite comic artist of mine, and we were trying to get in on a booth, but it seems there's a waiting list, and since I'd be a newb Exhibitor, I may not get it... I will call or email the Comicon People this week to find out more.

Crossing fingers they will take me on, I got the cash and working on all the projects to hit that con up, because it's my goal next year.

I recently picked up the game Mass Effect...

And I was again taken back by what seems like my story. This has happened to me in the past, and I feel sickened in a way that what I imagine and create being used and tore apart by other people.

I had previously previewed the story in 2002-2003 to a company I worked for until about that time. (Never Published and was Pushed back)

As soon as the introductory part of the story came on, it was exactly my story, even the main characters name...

WTF?!

I couldn't believe it, even some of the design work and the Extraterrestrial artifacts on Mars, and the technology Humans discover and get's them out of the solar system... and it takes place in 2150s... Then end up in a part of the Galaxy where an interstellar war is taking place... Ala Farscape I loved that show. Anyways...

I couldn't believe it, because that story is purposely written and drawn to be a role playing real time strategy mmo game! I am still feeling ill off it.

Well, I've played a bit more of the game... basically Bioware made the rest of the story and action out to be a glorified KOTR without The Force and Light Sabers... more with the times.

And so far.. it's oook... not great, some features could have made it a killer... but it seems long and tedious. I hate enclosed environments in games. Too Linear... and like I said in the original journal, the story becomes cheesy and weak... which it is already early in the game.

Anyways,

I will still create that story, which is in the Hangwire universe, in a book called, "Horizon".

Actually, I did upload an image earlier this year of Horizon: [link] hehe I'll post the colored version soon, and the first few pages of the story... It's way more extensive and expansive than any game or story. It takes place over millions of years, the past, present and future of things...

Well,

I updated some more images, I've been working on "Project X" and it's starting to really come around. Once I get that over with, and get all the designs, characters and story boards done, I will be getting on to the Website.

I posted some Hangwire images, from the book "Devil in His Eyes".

It's a twisted, gnarly, guns a blazin', Extra Terrestrial Adventure mess goin' on.

More to come on that one, the first issue is just about done, with many pinups and covers to the next stories done.

Ashley is coloring, and I like what she's done so far... although none of you will see it on DA at all, probably not even my own website.

In a couple of weeks I will be website building and painting a Mural... I can't wait to get on the mural... it's something of a favorite of mine, just that you work in such huge space and get to play with backgrounds, proportions and composition a lot. Can't wait!

Cartoon Tom Contest Still Open

I did something I hadn't in some time, since commissions, cartoon work and comic book pages took over my time... and that was do a traditional illustration.

It felt good, and, well, two others I painted that I thought would work well with the technique of Chalk Pastel over Gouche paint. I learned this technique many moons ago, and had stepped away from things like that.

Well, I enjoyed it a lot and plan a series of Native Art in that technique.

Other news, I hired my color person. Finally I got some help!

Well, after a very exciting and dangerous month (San Diego Wild Fires), just before Halloween... News finally arrives.

What have I been up to?

Well, there's new sketches and concepts in my Scraps Gallery.

The latest 2 are Sketches for a Commission for a Faerie drawing in full color.

I think it will be fun, I want to try more on that front, especially for t-shirts in my line of apparel, the ladies love those

And, conceptual art has been produced, the ones you see in my scraps are teasers for something to come.

That is the biggest news this month, I've been picked up to be part of a team to produce a Motion Picture. I am very excited to see what we come up and the ideas I have so far are very interesting. I will be looking for DA talent, in the future I will need help in some areas of the project, and it pays... so keep an eye out on my announcement in less than a month.

I can't say much about the project, but shortly after we produce it and film it, post production will be the hardest part. After, I will be moving into filming a teaser trailer for one of my own projects.

It may be one of my own titles that I post about online, or I may go another direction with an idea I had strictly for a Motion Picture.

As of now, I will be in charge of the Art and Creative side of the project under way, but right now, copyright issues are being handled and preliminary scripts and character designs are being produced

That be all for now folks, my new work will be taking a twist away from my typical drawing... and it will be major fun!

Oh - Also, my comic pages are still being drawn, I am on the last 3 pages of the first issue of Hangwire: Devil in his Eyes, and I inked and started inking The Legacy Online web comic, and a few more on the regular Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles graphic novel. Also in the works are more Cartoon Tom images, MySpace Cartoon Me winners, and a couple of other comic strips

What's up!

Well,

I've been pretty busy, so I apologize for no new posts, but I've put up plenty today, and there's plenty more where that came from!

What's in the works?

The paintings and other renderings will also make a move soon, I am about to get some play at a Native American antique store in Old Town San Diego, about to talk with some other people about displays... so I'll be posting news on that pretty soon.

My Comic is moving faster and faster, my comic pencil muscles are really being flexed and pushed all day every day... which is a good thing, because the quality will continue to improve and expand on my styles.

I want it to be near 100 pages with a large variety of stories, comics and illustrations, but all centralizing around the subjects of Para Normal, Horror, Action and Adventure, with a sprinkle of political and satire humor material... well... So I think :-p

Thought I'd throw out that my work is coming up. I slowed down a bit on Thursday, was hoping to finishes the pencils on pages 2 and 3 of The Legacy Online.

Issue one is under way, the cover is being colored, page one inks are almost done and so are the pencils for 2 and 3.

It's almost time to update my web comic. The first story is lain out and ready to get drawn up all this week, which will be nice.

It's here.

The week of the Con, and I am ready to make foot to pavement into the world of Pop Culture as we know it.

I've been busy re-designing my website [link] and have 'slimmed it down' so to speak.

It's a lot easier to navigate and look at, that's for sure.

You can check out my new site, but the comic pages coding is giving me a headache, so they aren't loading right now. But, I will have that fixed by tonight.

Hi,

I've been trying to upload a new image recently, but the upload page is giving me problems.

In the meanwhile here's some news...

I've received my prints for the comicon! I have about 5,000 but I may only take 2500, and save the rest for something else. They are double sided UV Gloss postcards, and they look great!

I've used some images from my gallery and promotional imagery for Cartoon Tom [link]

I plan on updating this and the other sites very soon, probably this weekend. Why? Because I am making a big push to publish material for the masses and for my own select Native American market place.

This includes new shirt graphics and designs, art prints, Comic Book work, Paintings, Drawings and related material.

I hope to build a nice Comic Site for my business pretty soon. That and the print Graphic Novel will be a welcome addition to the material I publish.

In the meantime, stay tuned for new graphics and art. There's been a lot of attention paid to on my latest work, and I want to put together a nice story and place to view original art and other fun stuff.

All this the week of the Comicon in San Diego, which I can't wait. All is set for my push, promotions and fun I'll have photos and a journal after the show is done.

Hi everyone!

Well, I've uploaded new art this week.

My Promotional Post Cards for the Comicon are on their way Unfortunately the preview comic did not get printed at all. The printers are working out some problems and have yet to get to my order, which is a bummer for my pitch, but I am going to put a nice package together anyways

I posted some ink pages from "Hangwire: Cold Breath", a story arc that precedes the "Devil in His Eyes" story, which will be in the Graphic Novel, "Legacy: The Shadow Chronicles" [link]

Well,

I am waiting back to hear word on my graphic novel preview issue from the Printers. I will need it for my pitch to publishers, and what better way than have it in a standard comic format to get the feel of what I am aiming for.

So, it's in the hands of the printers at the moment which makes me cross my fingers it gets printed and shipped in time for the Comicon.

I posted 3 Pages, Page 4 Issue 1 [link] Page 5 Issue 1 [link] Pinup Hangwire: Horizon [link] (uncolored). When I complete the book, it will be full color, and the lettering will be altered a bit, I didn't like the font because it was too bold.

I decided not to post the first 3 pages. I really don't want to give too much away on the initial issue.

In about 3 weeks, the full issue will be fully drawn and colors will begin.

San Diego Comicon is getting closer and closer... I love it there, so it should be a good time. I'll have over 4000 postcards printed for the free bee table, and my new business cards will be ready as well. I am putting together the graphics right now, which consist of Hangwire Images [link] "Cartoon Tom" [link] images and Company/Studio info.

Yes...

It's almost time.

Well,

It's fast approaching, the San Diego Comicon International '07!

I am 85%prepared, everything is ready except the printing... Yes, I am producing promotional material, the preview Graphic Novel, and more business cards, prints and my Cartoon and Comic pitch.

I am not too worried about putting the pitches together, just more important that the printing is done by the week of the Con.

I'll be staying in Downtown for 3 of the 4 days, and I plan on meeting as many Indie publishers as possible.

New Art is being worked on, like pencils, inked pages, colored page and pinups. I am about 3 pages away from getting all my Comic pages ready for lettering and print. I am only doing some coloring on the first pages, pinups and maybe some older works.

On this page, I am going to put more illustrative arts up, some new CG works and maybe some more comic pages. I plan on getting paid this month to pay for all the printing, which means more commission work and individual works to sell locally. I feel painting and chalk pastel pieces is in my near future

I will keep updating as much as possible over the next week, but I may not have anything to upload until the end of the month while I get everything in order. Printing on the comic preview should go into production in a week or two.

Hope I make it before the con *crosses fingers*

Overall, I am there for business and a little pleasure. I usually buy up new art materials and check out what the latest news is from Movies, Games, Comic Companies while I am there. I'll take some photos also.

I've uploaded some previews from my Graphic Novel, "Legacy: Shadow Chronicles".

I wanted to preview some of the pencils and inks to a couple of pages, but I plan on posting full color high resolution pages from each cover.

If I get enough people to participate, I may create a poll and contest to re-name my third super hero story... Winner will probably get the high rez color cover, and maybe a couple of sketches of their own character just for their own page or site.

I'll keep you posted on that, but let's try to get enough people coming here that I can do such a thing.

On to the Blog Posts... I posted a couple of new science blogs with news from the AP and Net. I thought some was interesting so I commented and posted them on my site [link]

Today I added more Ram to my computer, which will really help my high resolution color work!
