I got me a Nikon Monarch ATB 10x42 Binocular, and then tested it out by stargazing at night with my dad, who got it for me, at the same time the city was being sprayed with the light brown apple-moth pheromones hahaha. We didn't give a damn, because they're species-specific pheromones, so they're completely harmless, yet everyone else in the city is all paranoid and thinks they'll cause cancer, death of native species, and make people exhibit homosexual tendencies. I mean..gimme a break people. *Facepalms*
I have to continually reassure people at work, who still seem terribly misinformed or ignorant of the situation, thinking it's a violation of their rights to be "sprayed on" by "toxic chemicals". Bahh. I even handle pheromones at work (with my bare hands, oh my god!) for our seed moth traps at the Wild Bird Center. This is the safest freaking method - to use species specific pheromones that basically confuse the moths so they do not mate; it cannot kill, period. The longer we wait, the worse the situation becomes, and then we really will use toxic pesticides. This moth is a non-native invasive species that is destroying various crop fields, and it has never been this bad before, so population control is needed. Some opposer's arguments against the "spraying" seem justified when they state the city is placing crops above human life, but really, human life isn't even at risk here...jeez.
My mom, who works for the city management, supports the spraying and tries to convince people that it's harmless. Heck, my family actually stayed outside to watch the planes circle all around our house tonight, to prove a point. I can't wait when this is over, to hear and/or see everyone's reactions after nothing happens. Heh.

Anyway, here at home work has been fine at the Wild Bird Center, and my boss told me the city is preparing to release pheromones via planes to try and control the destructive oak moth population. O_o I dunno about the implications of that, but the worms have eaten all the oak trees in the city to death, and hang in curtains from the already-eaten branches. It's utterly disgusting. You have to watch where you walk or risk getting covered by countless worms... Blech....

Let's see...I've gotten an open commission from my dad's co-worker to illustrate something from the vicinity of his yard, and he's offered at least $2500 for it. Whew, it's really vague for me, and I've never had a real commission (I have done little requests and gifts), so my final decision is still in the air... We'll see.

As for the boring, personal stuff, I'm still playing FF12 (insanely long, but fun) and following Bleach and Claymore. Speaking of Claymore, the anime's so new that many people don't know of it, but it is awesome. Expect more fan art from it. Haha.
