As most of you already have heard, I have the gallery space at Borders in Roseville for the whole month of October. I will be hanging those pieces the evening of Oct. 1st and they will stay until Halloween

News of the last minute 'surprise' show came from one of my awesome art instructors at Sierra College, Mona Korby, this past week, requesting that "Earthbound" be put into their new digital art gallery!

The new gallery is in Weaver Hall, upstairs and aptly named "The uppercase Gallery". The piece should hang for a number of weeks, if not the whole month. The reception and debut is Tuesday, Sept. 30th from Noon till 2pm and also opens the dedication for the Hunjo Gallery in the Mac Lab honoring Pam Johnson's watercolors.

So I am very honored. And very busy getting stuff ready! Once the Borders show is up, I will be there most weekends, especially for 3rd Saturday Artwalk on the evening of Oct. 18th.

Hope to see ya all there!

OCTOBER: BORDERS Books & Music, Douglas/Rockyridge, Roseville, CA

and if you're roaming the Sierra College campus:

The uppercase Gallery, Weaver Hall, Sierra College, Rocklin Rd.
Well, after years of only using traditional medium I finally took a digital art class at the college. Friends that run the Liberal Arts Dept. had convinced me that taking PAINTER (over PS) was more geared toward the traditional artist.

They were right!

Just finished the final & critique last night ("Trailing the Moon" / SelfPortrait) and it was well recieved and recieved some of the highest marks of any one piece in the class.

The project was harder for me than it looks. Do a self portrait in the style of another artist. We were supposed to choose from someone between 1760 to 1960, but Mrs. Korby wanted me to do Nagel. I thought this was too easy; I'm well aquaintyed with Mr. Nagels work, and I thought someone with more brush strokes or illustrative style (my first choice was Latreuc) would be more challenging. I was wrong.

Having a more conceptual, 'sketchy' artist style, the vector-type clean lines of Nagels work was definitly a challenge for me.

Thank you Mrs Korby for a wonderful introduction to Painter! I will be using it often!

[A total of 3 pieces I did for the class have been uploaded to my gallery...]

Well I finally did it. Thanks in part to NaNoArtMo, I've gotten my buttocks in gear and put up my artist's website.

At the moment it has examples of old and new stuff, some of which is here, some not. Some fanart, too. But I have a variety of newer portfolio pieces that are not on it yet and I want to have professional scanned.

Other than that, I can't express enough how accomplished I feel!

Please take a look and send me a comment on it. (I have not tested it in all browsers just yet, so please report any weirdness!)

NOTE: if the "Sketchbook" is not up yet, it's cuz I am uploading it slowly.... should be done tomorrow evening...

Wheeee! I am finally getting around to uploading my artwork that's been sitting on my hardrive! The down sid eof that is that I still dont have professional looking photographs/reproductions of my larger format stuff.

Anyone have any tips for photographing artwork? Or does everyone run to Kinko's nowadays? Truthfully, I'd rather do it myself, but I have crappy lighting ...
