Whilst re-arranging my page I found myself wishing for some sort of notepad/update module I could install.

And then I realised what this journal is for xD


Things are nice at the moment. Here are some numbers!

200. Dollar new 22" moniter my darling bought for me

12. Days till christmas! (So, today is twelve drummers drumming!)

9. Days till the sydney trip! Driving down in the Kombi, taking the long way round, shopping and photographing

4. New shoots I have yet to edit and upload (Nambour Alive festival, Woombye lantern walk, A portrait shoot with Tia and one I can't recall).

3. Year anniversary with my Matthew a few days ago. I bought him chocolates. He went to see greenday... lol.

1. Lens I DROPPED off the stairs! And was saved by my uv filter. (Had my two spare lens's resting in my camera bag over my shoulder, one rolled out and the thread snapped off, but the lens was fine. MINI HEART ATTACK)


December has been tumultuous, but fun. The website is coming along, slowly. I'm looking forward to the new year, new gear, and a new job!

Today, at 4.30pm, my lovely cat Smokey mo-face passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 20 years old.

At 20, her body was starting to fail her, and even though it broke almost every heart involved, we decided it was time. The vet was very kind about, and we know it was for the best.

She has been my best friend since we met, back in 1993.
She is forever loved.

So the other night on facebook, I got a notification that one of those annoying 'know your friends' apps had posted on my wall. It was a school mate, and the question was, "What does Zoe do in her spare time?"

He answered, "Draws cool pictures!"

I was thrown. More than I'd ever expected.

Because I can suddenly remember a time when I did draw. All the time. Before I picked up a camera. It feels like another life!

When I think of who I used to be, I cringe a little, but mostly I just don't feel anything at all. It's like the person I was then just disappeared, and that I have always been like this. I can't remember feeling passionate about sketch books and pencils, because when I think of passion, I think of honey, my camera.

She's my most precious possession


In other news, I have a fashion folio shoot tomorrow!
In a place called Goon alley! (After bad wine, not stupidity, though I suppose one begets the other).

It's my first shoot where I have to have the images processed and delivered by a deadline.. I can't wait to see how it turns out


The website is bought, but I still can't tell you the domain because we haven't stuck anything on it yet I keep meaning to, but everytime I go to Matty's we end up playing computer games and drinking coffee, not working. His passion is RPG's... and I think it's so adorable how happy it makes him Haha now i'm all warm and fuzzy.

... Oh, Hai.

So, Life is amazing again. Sometimes I forget that I am the creator of my own reality, and get a bit... disfunctional (Haha yes, I'm one of THOSE people!). But things have righted, and it's gooood!

I have a wedding shoot booked in Feb, at Noosa
A fashion folio shoot around december.
And a billion little projects I can't wait to do.

I'm planning on buying a speedlight flash soon (Maybe for christmas?) and a new lens... I know, I have three aready, but I need a biggeerrr one


Outside of Photography, I got promoted at work (Supervisor.. woooo), I'm still saving for my saab and going on a roadtrip down to sydney for christmas In our KOMBI, no less, and anyone who knows the new england highway knows its going to produce some amazing images.

Matthew and I are good. We had a moment, there, for a bit, but we're back to normal now He's helping me build my website! Zoerulephotography.com anyone? Its going to be amazing to have a place to direct people thats 100% my own.

And there we are, back at photography.

Thats about it, I suppose. No really big changes, but I am 100% more happy

Took honey into camera house today and discovered the squeal is just the noise she makes (got to play with some brand news ones out of the box, they squeal too). They said not to worry, because were all working up toward the 5D anyway, and when that fires it sounds like a hammer dropped into a tin bucket

So i'm relieved.

And man, I want a 5D marc II. Like you wouldn't believe.
Anyway.

I also put a down payment on my new lens, the sigma 10-20. I want a canon telephoto too, but until i come into some more money the wide angle will do for now. AND, I ordered my new reflector, finally. My underwater case still hasn't come in, but should be here soon

I've got a couple shoot this month and a wedding down the track.. things are going well. I've turned 20 So my pay has gone up again, facilitating new shiny toys!

I have a problem. My 1000D (AKA EOS Kiss F, Digital Rebel XS) has apparently started to develop mirror squeal.

For those who don't know what that is, apparently the mirror reflex (OR SOMETHING in the mirror box) has begun to dry out, or has lost lubrication, so its making a high pitched squeak when it flips up.

And the noise is driving me crazy! Not to mention making me conspicious when taking photos.

I've only been able to find mentions of this happening to older 35mm canon's...

So can anyone tell me, is it likely to be the mirror, or is it just how my camera is? Does anyone else own a little 1000D?

I've got the warranty still (and theres no way i'm opening the body myself), but i dont want to send her away for two weeks only to find thats just the noise she makes.

Help? Advice? Please!?

Basically, life is pretty damn fantastic right now

I applied at camera house, and am still feeling pretty good about my job prospects there, as soon as the economy picks up. I found out when i dropped in last week they've just cut all their casual staff But i'm still hopeful.

Man, i love that place. I spent the better part of a hour there playing with the Sigma 10-22. So prettyyyy. I cant wait to own some more lens's.

Also on the photography front, PEOPLE WANT ME TO TAKE PHOTOS OF THEM! ARGH! HOORAY! I've already done two sessions, and am absolutely thrilled with how they turned out. I have oodles of ideas for more, and many people offering to model via my myspace [link] .

Im so pleased

Matty & I are stronger than ever, and having oodles of fun. Last night we had a peanut fight haha. I love him so much. It feels, right, now Its good and strong and may be 'forever' material. Maybe. I've said that from the start though Depends how long i can put up with his stinky stink smell haha <3


Its summer, we go driving with my arm out the window and the music loud, singing along. We play games and stay up all night and get up early to do it all over again.

I head out to the beach to meet models, take photos.

Life is amazing.

The guy was really nice and said they'll give me a call about the job, or just give me a call anyway when its quiet so i can come in and take some photos with them! AH! Perfect!

Honey, is my newly purchased Canon Rebel EOS 1000D. She's my first ever camera to be given a female name, and is simple beautiful.

After much umming and arring, I decided I simply wasn't going to get a canon with kit lens's for that price anywhere else, and bought her She's light, easy to use and makes my fuji green with envy.

She cost me $741.

And it would be really great if i could at some point hold her in my hands!!

Thing is, i'm still a bit iffy about buying it.. I had my heart set on the 400/450D's, as i've used them and not the 1000.

So I'm wondering, does anyone own a 1000D? What are your experiences with them?

This year, i made two resolutions.

1. Be happy - At all costs. Stop doing the job I hate. Have the courage to go to the beach by myself, because i enjoy it

2. Take at least one artistic/creative photo a day, and go take some photos in that field i've been eyeing off.


All in all 2009's started well. We welcomed it watching fireworks on tv and playing scrabble hahaha. Were so old.

And I'm the photographer.

I finally got myself a new camera; Not an SLR (Which I am still attempting to save for), but a cute little fuji finepix to replace my digi.

Its so cute I'm a little bit in love with it. And it has nice, almost noise-less picture quality, something i dont think i've ever had before haha.

It's so exciting :3 I dont get to take photos of people much (Having extremely camera shy friends lol) so it'll be good to take some portraits, and order people around for my photos hahaha!

I've been taking heaaapppss of photos of late.. my new phone having a decent camera in it has led to an almost doubling of arts, but not much i care to submit just yet. I'm also currently obessed with polaroids (!!!) and washed out/old looking photos. Been playing with photoshop in new and exciting ways hehe.

Life is good! I've gotten quite a bit saved and am looking forward to travel/moving out at the end of the year. Hoping for more hours at work, but that seems to be the only downside. Me and matty are happier than ever, in.. this thing we have but its good, its good.

I want him so much. I want to be in his life. I want all that we had. I want to feel the love reciprocated. I know he loves me. I KNOW it, i feel it. I've never been more sure in my life. We are supposed to be.

And I CANT lose her again. I almost died crying the last time. I WONT. I cant. I wont do that pain again, i dont know how many times i can take it. I love them all too much. My love, my sister, and her parents, who i adore.

Thought it was time for an update, so this, my loves, is just that.

Life is going SWIMMINGLY I'm enjoying work, saving succesfully, wearing all my fav shirts and hanging out with a boy who makes me laugh like no-one else.

My camera needs batteries -.- But hopefully i'll get a new shiny SLR for my birthday! Hopefully. I'm 19 in... 15 days! yay!

I'm currently addicted to the band 'The Kooks'. I just love them.. so fun to dance too. But not, my loves, as much fun as Matchbox Twenty, who I saw in concert! Best night of my life, hands down. I sung and danced till I couldn't stand/move. Such a good show.

Well I need a milo, so thats it for an update.. just wanted to let everyone know how I was going. Things are good!
