Well, as many of you can tell, I haven't been submitting any new work as of late, nor have I been posting stuff in my journal. The truth is, I've lost interest in DA and I will no longer be updating this account. I just have way too many things on my plate right now, and frankly, I can't stomach the thought of drawing simply for the sake of drawing, anymore.
I will try to check in every so often to look at people's work and comment on it, but it's highly unlikely that you'll see any new work from me, for a long time at least.
I'll keep this account open for a while I suppose, in case anyone gives a rat's ass and wants to look at my old work. I need copies of the images on here anyway, as my computer was reformatted and wiped clean. Assuming I ever get around to saving the images on my new computer, this account will be closed permanently.
If decide to return, it'll be under a new identity, of course. For a while, I've been trying to distance myself from my past counterpart, and I feel the need to re-invent myself. I just don't feel like Moxee, anymore.
And so, in closing, it's been a decent 2 or so years here, but it's time for me to move on, now. For those who watched me, I greatly appreciate it, even if you never actually commented on my work.
The best of luck to all of you wonderful, aspiring artists out there.
God bless you.
-Nina (aka Moxee)

Anywho, although today was a half-day at school, I stayed home because I had some weird (and VERY painful) stomach thing. Let me paint you a mental picture: ladies, picture the *WORST* pms cramps you've ever had...okay?...now, multiply it by 50. Yup. Now just add in frequent trips to the washroom. That was basically it. As for gentlemen...uhm...I wouldn't know...but you get the idea. Just thought everyone needed to know that, because I'm obnoxious, and way too open about my body.
As for the rest of my day, I relaxed, and jammed on some work. I felt well-rested, surprisingly enough. See, I decided to watch TV from 3 to 4am last night (And I caught a Sloan video shortly after 4am. Go me). I woke up at 3 to use the facilities, and couldn't get back to sleep, due to a creepy documentary on exorcisms on Sunday. And yeah...that's the low-down on my exciting day...

Then in writer's craft, I read the sweetest comments on my story. I wish I knew who had written them, because I'd love to give those people hugs.
Then during lunch, I realized that today is Jay's birthday!
And then on the bus, I got an odd feeling in my gut, like I knew something was up. So I went home, and opened the back door out of curiosity. And as I did, I heard leaves rustling, followed by a quiet "meow...". I threw my bags down, and saw my cat hiding under the bush!

Well alright. Now what have I done this summer? I've read 8 books:
-Oryx and Crake
-Life of Pi
-Fire Bringer
-Tempting Faith DiNapoli
-Lamb: the Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal
-The DaVinci Code
-Island of the Sequined Love Nun
-Foxfire

I've gone to 2 concerts:
-Hot August Night, Toronto, ON
-Golfapalooza, Markham, ON

I found 3 things that I have been frantically searching for:
-the novel Maia
-the film Oliver's Story
-the film Foxfire

Misc. crap:
-hugged Jay Ferguson of Sloan
-sort-of met The Hives at Sunrise Records in Toronto
-got a job
-bonded with some wonderful people
-developed an interest in ghost hunting
-toned my body
-began my concert scrapbook

Maybe this summer wasn't such a total loss after all.
I can only hope that I grow and mature during the school year as much as I have during these two months.

Yup, so ~nikouru and I attended our final Sloan concert for the summer last night at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham.
The funny thing is, you expect wasps named Perry and Miffy to be there in pastel-coloured Lacoste golf shirts, right? We-ell, I was quite surprised to find that the night was nothing like that. In fact, it was quite the opposite, with faulty equipment, and loud drunks proving that you *CAN* in fact mosh to Sloan songs. Poor Nikki would have been crushed by the body-surfing drunken moron, had it not been for the guy next to her that kept him from falling on her. Call me old-fashioned, but I personally think that if you can't hold your liquor, don't drink. You'll only make an ass of yourself. And this leads me to my next pearl of wisdom: don't get Budweiser to sponsor an event that goes towards benefitting children.
We got there way before showtime (of course), and were lucky enough to catch Sloan practicing, until I decided we should find out where we should be in order to get our tickets torn, which never happened anyway.
Lowest of the Low (who are pretty cool) started off the night, followed by a special appearance by some of the members from The Tragically Hip, The Watchmen, and Our Lady Peace, who did some way-awesome covers. And then Sloan took the stage at about 10:30pm. From the looks on their faces, I knew that it wouldn't be wise to expect anything grand. All of them (especially Jay) looked bored out of their skulls, but at least Jay noticed Nikki and me, and smiled at us a few times. Maybe it was the beer, but they were having trouble remembering the lyrics to their songs. Even Patrick, who always makes such an effort to play his songs perfectly screwed "Losing California" up. As much as I adore the boys, I was pretty happy to leave that place. The crowd was getting really rowdy (especially when Chris jumped off the stage, and perched on an empty chair at the end of "If it Feels Good Do it"), and security was a complete joke. The drunken mosher called me and Nikki "hoochies" on his way out the driveway. I was sure to call him a dick as he passed, and call out,
"Right back at ya, buddy!" (once he was out of earshot of course...) We were also had the most clothes on, ironically enough.
So, as nice as it was to see Sloan once again, this show paled against the one in Buffalo, which I will always remember fondly.

The more you know, I guess.
And yay for Martin and Dumont in kicking Cuban volleyball ass like I knew they would.
I'm only a little upset that the Ukrainian trampoline girl didn't win either gold or bronze in the sport. She was quite good. Ah well, there's still the 10-m (I think?) diving, and I'm almost positive that the scary-looking Uky girl will win a medal.
So yay for my two teams, and good luck to all of the other atheletes...except the US team. What, they have like 97 medals or something? Nah, I jest. Good luck to the Americans, too.

Just so we'd know where to go on Saturday. She also befriended a gull she named Sheepie. Yup. Nik's got issues. Serious issues.
Prince is on MuchMoreMusic right now. He's so cute. How sad, really. He's more than ten years older than all of the members of Sloan, and he looks 20-something. Psht.
My sister was also unusually generous today. She made us lunch, and gave us sandwiches to take to the island, so we wouldn't waste money. She also asked me to draw her a cartoon to put up in her kitchen. Ugh. I dunno what the hell to draw. Maybe I can make an exception, and draw something realistic. Gonna watch "Top 80 of the 80's", now.

My computer is finally up and running. Thank you to all who have been viewing my art; it's greatly appreciated. I don't really have any real pieces of artwork to put up in my formal gallery, but I am working on completing my piece of Elle's final design, as well as some more character sketches to shove into my sketchbook, so watch out for those.

And for those of you who don't know what's going on, I have embarked on a new quest: I am determined to buy a copy of Foxfire (1996 version) on DVD. I have gone to every HMV, Music World, and Sunrise I have access to. I even hit Sam the Record Man, and have had zero success. The film is out of print, which is why I can't find it. I haven't been able to download the full movie yet, but I think I may have to resort to buying it off Amazon. I WILL find it! Mark my words Nik, I'll have a copy before school starts!

Yeah, so we've had this mouse infestation. And I was just upstairs, and I noticed my mom bought those mousetraps with the plastic cheese on top, and I think to myself, "Exactly how stupid do people think mice are?". I mean really, like most other animals, mice find their food by using their sense of smell. Do people think that just because the plastic is yellow and has holes in it, that the mice are gonna go after it if it doesn't smell like cheese? Gawd...
I'm also saving up money for the Sloan concert in August. I'd love to go.
On another note, has anyone tried that new chocolate Kraft peanut butter in the purple jars? It looks crazy.

Though I've probably put them back on, cause I've been craving sweets all day, and gave in to some of those cravings. And because there's mucus dripping down my throat, it's been difficult to exercise. I better not be sick.
And Nikki's back! Yay!

And I'm back! Sloan absolutely kicked ass last night! and I were the first ones there of course, and stood out in the rain while we waited for the doors to Infinity to open. And once they did, we darted straight for the stage, and didn't budge all night, unless we were taking turns saving the spot, while the other went out to the front to buy merch. I bought several packs of trading cards, Sloan's "Second Hand Views" video, "Gimme That" underwear, and a shirt, while Nikki bought a shirt, several packs of cards, and was lucky enough to get Jay's setlist. I took about 70 or so pictures, and managed to get pictures of me and Nik with Chris and Pat. Chris really is a sweetie. He stroked my shoulder, and was all warm and cuddly. Sadly, we weren't able to find Jay again, despite Pat's offer to help us find him. No one had seen him.
Yeah, and we were so close to them, that if we had been any closer, we would've been in their pants...which would not have been too bad. Speaking of pants, Chris had his fly safety-pinned (the fly broke during a previous show). It really was cute. Chris provided me with some great shots, as he posed, and hung over our heads, making goofy faces as he did so, and did about 8 jump kicks, 4 or 5 of which were done during "Penpals", and did a few cock struts. I got quite a few shots of Jay, few of which turned out good (dude, I have used the word "few" three times in two sentences), due to his odd positioning on the stage. He saw me snapping shots of him a few times, and smiled at me. He also laughed at me while I was belting out the words to "Money City Maniacs". As much as I wanted to gawk at his cuteness, I was afraid he'd be a little freaked out if I did so. So basically, each time he'd look my way, I'd look away. My throat kills right now, cause of all the yelling I did.
"PLAY UNDERWHEEEEELMED! 500 UP! ANYTHING FROM "SMEARED"!"
"JAAAAY! JAAAAAAAAAAAY!"
Oh gosh, I really was quite goofy. But a good kinda goofy. Believe me, people who know me would not believe me if I told them how crazy I went. SLOOOOOOO-AAAAAAAN!

Well, I'm pleased to announce that my cousins from the UK are absolutely wonderful! Awesome pair of kids, they are. However, I'm very sad to announce that this will probably be my last journal entry for a long time. My computer isn't working, and my sister's moving out tomorrow, and is taking the computer with her. She's phoned a friend of hers to ask if he can fix mine, but every time she phones, he never calls her back, and I doubt that this time will be any different.
My fuckstick of a father isn't doing squat about my computer, either. He can't seem to grasp the fact that the computer is an ESSENTIAL item for schoolwork. If it were simply a matter of reformatting the computer, then this wouldn't be taking such a freaking long time. But, since I have things on the computer that I cannot replace, it's a lot more difficult.

WOO! I'm so excited, I've got the jibblies! My cousins from England are coming to Canada for the first time tomorrow. I've never met them, and I'm anxious to see what they're like. I really hope they're not little slut-whores, or into growing marijuana or some kind of crap like that. Hm, if they're into rock music, maybe I can get them hooked on Sloan...they'll probably think I'm a complete loser when/if I tell them my "How Nikki and I Met Jay" story. I'd need to find an opportunity to tell them, you know. Ha, I could totally see my two cousins and me at Rotate This, as I try to submerse them in the rich culture of Toronto.
Nina: "Yeah, me and Jay...we're like THIS!" *crosses fingers*
Cousin Sofia: "Hey, isn't that him right behind you?"
Nina: "What?! Where?!" *hides*
Cousin Yurij: "Hi Jay! We're from England! You guys aren't bad!"
Jay: "Right on! How'd you find this place?"
Sofia: "Our cousin Nina. She met you a few months ago. She's hiding over there. She has a HUGE crush on you, by the way. She's told us all her fantasies about you, <goes into unnecessary graphic detail>."
Nina: *comes out of hiding* "Kids today..."
Jay: "I remember you!"
Nina: "Yeah...zebra head?"
Jay: "Yeah! You were the one staring at my crotch, right?"
Nina: "Yeah..."

I'm sure the whole thing would play out something like that. The subject title is of no relevance to the entry. I just have Great Big Sea's "When I Am King" stuck in my head.

Okay, prepare for a big, stupid vent. Where to begin? This journal has quite a bit of profanity in it, so if that kind of thing bothers you, I suggest you skip this.
This hadn't bothered me before, but tonight, something inside me just snapped, and I realized what a fool I really am. Someone I cared about very much hurt me last week. I thought he loved me, but I was wrong. He had been seeing another girl for two and a half months, and she dumped him about a week ago. He wrote me an e-mail explaining things a little more--why he had done it, etc., and at first, I was very relaxed about the whole thing. I forgave him, and tried to comfort him.
But tonight I thought, "why the fuck should I care after what he's done to me?". He told me he had never meant for it to go so far, and that he loves me, but during the course of their relationship, did he ever think about me? I'm not trying to sound selfish, but did he even care that he was cheating on someone who cared about him so very much? This wasn't a one-night stand. No. This had been going on for nearly THREE FUCKING MONTHS. And in the mean time, he had been going on as though nothing was happening. He continued to talk to me, and tell me how much I meant to him.
And then she dumps him, and he gets all emotional and sad. As much as I hate to admit it, I still care about him, but now I see that he has never given a shit about me. He took advantage of me from the beginning, and used me as a crutch until someone better came along. I trusted him, and this is what he did to me. I have very little trust in the opposite sex as it is---especially after what my father did to my family, but that's a whole other story---and now, because of him, I have even less, if that's at all possible.
I don't know if I will ever be able to trust again.

Oh happy day!
and I went shopping downtown in Toronto today, and we bumped into my favourite Sloan member, Jay Ferguson! What was so funny was that about 5-10 minutes before we met him, I was saying, "Nikki, we'll probably walk right by one of the members of Sloan today, and not even recognize them." So we were on our way to "Rotate This", a record store where Jay is a frequent customer (yes, we have sources...). So we're walking, and I'm looking ahead, and to my left, I notice a skinny guy in a navy blue toque walk by. I think to myself,
"Wow, that guy looks a lot like...OHMYGODIT'SJAY!"
Now, I wasn't sure whether I should just leave it at that, and tell people I saw him, or scream, or run after him. So I squeal a little, and I start shaking, and I bite my lip to keep myself from screaming. Nikki grabs me and asks what's wrong with me, so I motion her to come with me into a nook. She asked whether I was having a seizure, and when I assured her I wasn't, I said,
"Nikki...you will never guess who I just saw..."
She asked, with wide eyes, who I saw.
"I just saw Jay walk past us."
Her eyes widened even more, and she asked which way he went. I showed her where, and she grabbed me by the arm, and we tore down Queen Street, hoping we didn't lose him. I panicked because I couldn't see him, but spotted his toque as he was crossing the street. He moves fast for a little guy. He also has a really cute little walk we've named "The Jay Walk". Get it?...Yes, well, anywho, right before we cross, Nikki's asking where he is. I point to the blue-toqued guy, yet she was skeptical. I says to her, I says,
"If that isn't Jay, it's his identical twin..."
We saw him stand in front of a door for a moment, and then he walked into the Galaxie Studio. I was sure we'd be waiting hours for him to come out. Oh well, we almost met him...
We waited in front of the studio for a few minutes, and Nikki said she saw someone in a blue toque. We pretended we were waiting for someone, and as we saw him come out, we didn't say a word, but I made a motion with my eyes as if to say, "Let's hit it."
Nikki once again, grabbed my arm, and we ran after him. I however, was hissing about how uncool it was to run after him, and that we should casually walk up to him. But we were right behind him, so...Nikki asks,
"Excuse me?"
He turns around.
"Are you Jay Ferguson of Sloan?"
"Yes," he says.
We smiled, and Nikki asks if he could sign something for us. He says,
"Of course, no problem."
Nikki took out her big black Sharpie, and two of her Sloan lyric booklets from the albums Action Pact, and Navy Blues (she had the others, too). Jay looked quite surprised, and said,
"Whoa, you're prepared aren't you?"
We told him that we were huge fans, and he was really sweet about signing the stuff. I was tongue-tied. I just couldn't believe I was standing right in front of my favourite member of my favourite group. Nikki also said,
"Nina here is your biggest fan!"
I could feel my face turning red, and he said,
"Right on!" or something like that.
So we talked to him for a few minutes, and went our separate ways. After we made sure he was out of sight, we hugged each other, and screamed like the pathetic fangirls we are, and phoned everyone we knew. All in all, a VERY eventful day.
