Anywho, not much going on with me. Just work. Meh. Boring work. Sometimes I have time to draw in between, but it's hard to focus when you keep getting interrupted by calls. But, I'm planning on entering that Wacom contest. I should probably start working on that idea I had for the Yomiuri comic competition [link] For anyone interested, the due date is December 31st (postmark).

Well, kinda whoo. I think ever since it moved away from Anaheim and into Long Beach [and then to LA], it's been kinda going downhill. The dealer hall was a little meh this time around...Normally I'd see all sorts of fun [yet random] crap that I will feel compelled to buy and then subsequently feel guilty about buying after the money leaves my hand, but this year it was a lot of same-y stuff and nothing really new. I really wanted a nice Code Geass keychain, but there were hardly any. Maybe it's a sign of the world's economic issues or something like that. There was a cute Apollo Justice cell phone charm that I was totally going to buy, if it didn't cost $7 for a charm barely bigger than my thumbnail. D: I also wanted to buy something related to Captain Kurotsuchi from Bleach, but he and his division are sadly underappreciated. XD People seemed to be creeped out by him. Waha.

I also walked through the Artist Alley, and felt insignificant compared to all the pretty art there. But I did realize that they all seemed to draw in the same style in most of their illustrations...I mean, they were all really, really pretty, but the style was kinda same-y for a lot of them. XD; I won't name any names, but...Haha.

NEXT YEAR! FOR REAL. I SHALL HAVE A TABLE AT THE ARTIST ALLEY AT ANIME EXPO. My standalone art has been starting to build up, so maybe by next year, I'll have enough things that people will want to buy. Hahaha.

Also, cosplay seemed underwhelming this year. I do have pictures, so I'll be uploading them eventually. I didn't go nuts with the camera though, since I did feel a bit underwhelmed. But I'm not obsessive with taking pictures of anything, so yeah. But I was sad that I didn't have time to make a costume this year. Next year, I definitely want to try to make one. Here's some ideas I had:

Being at Anime Expo jump-started my brain. It was getting really sluggish and heavy since I started my job, but now it's pumping out the creative smoothies again. Maybe if I decorate my cubicle with drawings, I won't get so weird and blech. You can only answer phones with, "Good morning, this is XXX. How can I help you?" for so long before feeling a bit of your soul slipping away with every password that you have to reset.

I figure I'll work my part-time job with the electricity company and try to get some sort of job in the game industry while doing it. Maybe QA part-time for Atlus or NIS, or if Red 5 will have me as an artist. And...Blizzard? Hahaha, Blizzard won't want me. Oh Blizzard, you are so close, yet so far...And I have yet to find their alleged big building in Irvine. I'm going to find it. Someday. Maybe this week, since I'm trying to do lots of wtf. XD

If you all noticed, I did an Excel Saga meets Code Geass fanart. It would be awesome if Il Palazzo had a Geass power. I figure his power could be to see and bring out the corruption in people, and use their subsequent confused state of mind to persuade them to work for him. : D

I also want to do a one-shot comic detailing this. He shall be either Duke or Earl Il Palazzo, and shall be in charge of the area around Fukuoka in Area 11. : D It shall be awesome.

In other news, school continues to kick my butt! I'm up to my ears in Java programming, but I guess it's all right since I'm taking this video game development class. Except I'm also up to my ears in Flash animation. That's a lot of things to be going to my ears. But ~october-fish introduced me to the music of NEWS, so I'm kinda noodling to the happy songs. Hahaha. Except I've been trying to translate some of their song titles and they're using weird kanji readings or something...

I also lack motivation to ink Lexcore. I've got it nice and sketched, but I'm kinda hesitant to ink it because I probably won't have the time to tone until...I dunno. And then I'll forget where all the panel lines go. I've got a midterm this week. Maybe I'll ink this weekend? I've got a track meet this weekend. Maybe I'll ink between classes on Tuesday or Thursday? Or if I get home early tomorrow? Hrrrrm. Or I could ink it now instead of angsting about the ending of Marked, which I haven't worked on in...forever. This was only sparked from me getting bored and trying to find weird pairings in Harry Potter fanfiction, finding McGonagall x Snape ones and then laughing my butt off, then remembering that I have Marked, whose ending was bothering me.

Maybe I'll start inking then. @_@ At least a little bit.



I've also got the next 7 or 8 pages of System.out.println("RAWR!"); thumbnailed in my notebook. : D I'm excited for that comic because I think it's been a year since I updated.

In case anyone cares, my group dismantled a Wii remote, ripped out its camera, wired it to a microcontroller, hooked it up to a computer, and then used a glove with LEDs on the tips of the thumb and index finger to control the mouse on the computer. Wii remote, I have a new respect for what you do. Also, wtf with the three-pronged screws? Nintendo reeaaally doesn't want anybody opening that thing up.

My back also hurts. I think I leaned forward a little too much on one of my triple jumps at the track meet this weekend, so now my back hates me. Well, more than it did already. Full speed + bad back + bad form + cold = pain.

There shall be war and violence and fonic artes and maybe even a tragic death! XD

So yeah, school got a little crazy the past few months. Even when track was winding down, I was still really tired and busy. Which was kinda weird, but whatever. I'm taking summer school though, but it shouldn't be too hard cuz it's only intro psychology [I've taken psych before] and one programming class.

And I think, in order to speed up the Lexcore action, I'm going to try to sketch a page a day and see what happens.

...I hope I don't go crazy.

...Then again, that'd be an interesting experience.

SO. Next year! I think I might try to get a table at the Anime Expo Artist Alley. I'll probably sell...Lexcore prints, Phoenix Wright prints, buttons maybe, other prints of fanarts...I should probably get started early on all that stuff. ^^;

I installed the driver for my Graphire tablet and now OpenCanvas doesn't work properly when the tablet is in mouse mode. D:< Stupid OpenCanvas. And since the driver makes Photoshopping a bunch cleaner, I guess I'll just deal.

And then I went to Best Buy to buy Apollo Justice and Best Buy is friggin lame and thinks the release date is the 26th when it's been out since the 19th. ;__; And the Court-Records forum seems to not like my art, even when I'm asking for help.

XD Ahaha, it did seem to me that fanfic writers could've thought up something like that, though...or maybe there's just so much of the stuff that they've already exhausted a whole crapload of possibilities. So, I'm going to try and do an overhaul of the way I do Lexcore pages. I entered this comic contest on Gaia Online and got the crits back from the judges. The story's not too far along [and I really, really know that the first chapter needs REVAMP TO THE MAX], so I wasn't really bothered by what they said about my writing, but they said some good stuffs about the art. I think I'll try toning down on...uh...the toning, and maybe get some clearer dot patterns. Haha, maybe I'll get the trial of Manga Studio EX and steal the tones out of it. And I'll draw bigger and ink with a thinner pen, so the lines come out cleaner. And perspectives. God, I hate you, perspectives.

Hrrr, I think I push too hard on my poor little 005 Micron pen. Anyone know if Copic multiliners are stronger than Microns? Mmm...maybe I should learn how to use a nib pen. @_@

Anyone think that the yaoi fangirlies over at Smack Jeeves are getting a little out of hand? Non-yaoi comics can barely hold a spot in the Hot Comics and Most Popular sections because of all the yaoi. And a lot of the stories are like...SMUTSMUTTYSMUTFLUFFITYFLUFFYFLUFF. Or maybe I'm biased; there's this one artist that seriously makes my brain shut down whenever I see her comics. Everything is same-ish -- faces, positioning, expressions...no backgrounds, movements are half-@$$ed, paneling is boring...and yet her comics have fans that outnumber mine 10 to 1. Then again, maybe there are just so many yaoi fangirls willing to fave stuff like that...

I was thinking of [finally] ordering them [friggin'] Prismacolor markers to color things with, mostly because Copic is too expensive for me. I hope all you people had good December 25ths. ^_^ Heehee, it was party-riffic with me family. So much fooooood...and my cousin brought his Wii yesterday when we went over to another cousin's house, and we Wii Sports-ed it up! Hurray! It was too bad he only had one controller... T_T Heehee, boxing is good for anger management. I wish I had it the weekend before finals.

So, UCI people [you know who you are] or other schools that had finals before the break, how did your finals go?

'Tis official: I'm going to rot my brain with video games [but then un-rot it with Brain Age and Big Brain Academy before I continue the rotting]. I have soooo many new games that are going to take my life away. Gosh. I didn't even ask for them. I was as vague as possible so people wouldn't spend money on me. Alas, it was to no avail. So I have these new games:

- Starfox Command [DS]
- Cooking Mama [DS]
- Final Fantasy III [DS]
- Final Fantasy XII [PS2]
- Tales of the Abyss [PS2]
- Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door [GC]

Technically, Cooking Mama and Final Fantasy III are my sister's, but we share the DS so they're mine by extension. And I've had Paper Mario for a reaaaally long time now, but I only just started playing it when the break started. It's so funny, and it's sooooooo addicting! PLAY IT, PEOPLE!

I just discovered the magic of OpenCanvas 3.05+! HUZZAH! Photoshop 6 was pissing me off when I was coloring the Halloween picture, so I switched to OpenCanvas and it was MAGICAL! :love: It's so beauteous [behold my vocabulary]! And I can do LINEART in it! ZOMG! Photoshop 6 is CRAP for lineart. ::joy joy joy joy joy:: Haha, I think that if I tried hard enough with Photoshop, I could make it look the same-ish, but then I'd have to be messing with brush opacity and dynamics and stuffs and that's generally annoying. The brush tool makes stuff too jagged too.

Anyway, enough of that!

Who wants Elite Beat Agents for the DS? Cuz I do!
And Pokemon Ranger. That's pretty spiffy.
Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles comes out this month.

It makes me wonder if I'll ever develop a video game that gets a fanbase as big as Square's or Nintendo's. Haha, I'm so obsessive over it that I've started my notes on the game and stuff already, and they've been revised at least 5 times. T_T Hopefully by the time I'm ready to leap into the video game industry, my art will be up to scratch with the Japanese artists [ I hate the art for most American-made games with a passion ]. Hahahaha, wow, imagine if I posted my video game concept art for a highly-anticipated game on deviantART and pretended I was just some fan that managed to scrounge up a scan or something. Muwahahahaha.

...I'm so doing that. Haaaaahahahaha.

Drunk Duck sucks right now because we can't customize, due to maintenance that has been going on since JULY! :pissedoff: Hahaha. Comic Genesis [ Keenspace ] is too aesthetically displeasing and they ask for your address and phone number so it sucks. Their main page looks nice enough, but there's no "Top Something-or-other" comic listing like Drunk Duck and apart from the main page it's ugly. Hahaha.

[ progress on comic ] I'm on page 15. I had tried starting again, but it's much too late for that, so I'm just continuing this one. It's got sculpted cheese, a confused adolescent security guard, a dead soul trapped outside of her body, and stuff! Mmm, it sounds more exciting in writing than it does in the comic. I think I succeeded in making a mediocre fight-ish scene with not-so-witty cracks at Tokyopop and obsessive manga/anime freaks. I think I tried to put a deep message in it when the situation isn't good for one...

[ progress on CG ] TABLET HELPS A LOT! :D I hope it turns out really nice. Right now I'm in the process of coloring in solid colors and masking them out. I've done the skin, the hair, and the robe right now. The vines won't be so bad. The animals shouldn't take too long, I hope. Shading all of it will be a pain, though. Oh well, I have Mr. Tablet to help me. Heehee.

Okay, I hate programming [ when I don't know what to do. Hahahaha ]. Maybe I'll drop the computer science part of my major and just do computer engineering. Dang, I really hope I do well so I don't have to be a programmer chugging away on codes in a cubicle...

Visiting LHHS was fun! I talked to some teachers, they were nice enough to offer me a hot dog, I saw and in the Math Club ^^; , and saw more teachers! McCormack and I chatted for almost 30-ish minutes. He even sent me to the office to get him letterheads. ^^; You'd think I'd have finished running errands for the faculty when I graduated... ;p It's all good. Heehee.
