I loved the new venue! SM MEGATRADE HALL, MEGAMALL. Cooler, nicer and easy to go to.
So many indie books to buy and to get for free. Saw old friends and classmates again back in college. (Gerry and Jonas and co-members of Komikero; Hazel; Bien; Jaybee and his wife; Hubert; Jon, Mike & Melvin; Paulo, Ian, Ka'jo and Melvin.. and BK members...dami diba?) And this time I went with my young niece and brother. They all loved what they saw, specially her. It's her first time at a convention so she was looking everything and asking for photos. She even ask my fiancee

to take a picture of her and the dancing Spiderman. So cute!

Anyway, the funniest part of it all is when we all went home. And when I search for my knapsack bag, I couldn't find it. That's when my brother told me that I was carrying my bag to the con and left it under our group table. Robin quickly called

to check if my bag is still there. Good thing they are all still there and got my bag. I will be picking my bag tomorrow night from

at his work. So yeah. I'm relaxed now. But I won't be uploading some of my commission works because it's all there in my bag.

Again, I'm back and still have pain (terrible) on my left ankle. I will go back to visit a doctor within this week, latest would be on Saturday. Hope nothing serious. I'm a HYPER DAWG. I can't be placed in one corner and be still. I Love moving around. I love doing with my hands. She said I'm a restless person. What gave her that idea. Mwah!

Anyway, regarding my topic header that "I Can't Draw". I read alot of them here and to some other sites and it made me wonder, how can they say that to them. I mean, we are all created to learn and create stuff. I'm not a good comicbook artist, but I am enjoying myself to draw stuff. So, to those people (mostly kids), here are some tips stuff to remember first before you say that you can't draw.

Here goes....

Number One:
Always remember...Anyone who can hold a pencil/pen/brush or pallet..either with hands, Arms, foot or mouth CAN DRAW, CAN PAINT and create.

Number Two:
It's your will power to teach yourself to learn how to draw. Some are blessed and some are talented that's for sure, but we can teach our selves the basics/foundation of drawing (either figure drawing, animals, architectural stuff and so on and on). There's alot of site here that offers online teaching bout comics.

Number Three:
PRACTICE. PRACTICE.
Practice.
...and p r a c t i c e. I doodle on my mini sketch pad when I am goin to work. Going home. In-between office break. I don't stop teaching myself and I never stopped correcting myself. I don't consider or look at my latest work as my greatest work, mind you. Heck not everyone here are perfect.

Usually, after a week or two, there, I will look back at my previous art and there I would start seeing flaws on my work. And that's when I feel much better, knowing where my mistakes are and figuring out what went wrong and then what to do to correct it the next time. That doesn't stopped me from improving. That's my driving force to do well the next time...but still I don't see my work as good as the other works here and in the comics industry.

Number Four:
HAVE A LONG PATIENCE! That's the key. And don't criticize the works of others unless they asked for one. Remember to respect others work.

Hi Guys! I have some good news and some bad news. Good news is that my commission is coming in and schedules are alot busier. Thanks to for the new commission work. Also, my schedules will be in a lot faster mode. Why? Here comes the bad news...

Last night (Wednesday here) while playing basketball with my office mates, I had an accident. I twisted hard my left foot, causing me to grimace in pain on the floor for a couple of minutes. When the guys walk me to the bench, I was so much in pain, my fiancee (Robin) decided that we go to the hospital. We went first to PGH (Philippine General Hospital) but after an hour of waiting and experiencing the saddest service a government hospital have to offer, we decided to go to MDH (Manila Doctors Hospital) in U.N. Ave., Taft. There, the surrounding was so clean, so refreshing and so pleasing to the eyes. The doctors are nice (the lady doctor and nurse were very nice to us at PGH, though we forgot to get their names -sorry) and treated me quickly. After 30mins, I have bandaged on my ankle and they've given me pain killers to take.

Thanks to them doctors.

Anyway, I guess I will be doing all of my commission a lot faster. They said I must rest for 3days. So yes, I will be a couch potato for the next few days..but, me and Robin with her sister will be flying to Davao tomorrow morning to visit her mother. Timing? I guess?

The post was just a sentiment here for and on that day alone never to be looked back. I blog for something for a certain event, or what I do feel on that day, good or bad. And again, for that day alone. Heck! I don't even read it a second time to check if my grammars are correct. Most of the time, they are all wrong. (thank you Ma'am Kathy for pointing those errors). I won't be saying too much anymore and put details into it, for it might be read differently once again. My girlfriend is in much pain and in fear. That is why this is also for her, to somehow pacify her.

I just want to say, SORRY to all those people which was affected with what I wrote and how I wrote that piece.

I am sorry to you guys that it came to you that way. Specially the excerpt part, I wrote it as an enlightening part to the sad, bad things that happened to my friend, or our friend. Something which, I though of what would "Claw - Logan or any super hero characters with bad attitude like Lobo" say or how would he say it. And I wrote it down. And I wrote it not in a way to instigate a fight among us. Again, It was all written badly.

I could say sorry and explain to every context that you guys read. But, I know it won't matter. But I am still hoping that with this, something might come up and with this I am hoping that I could be forgiven.

Again, late or not, I would like to ask each and everyone that I offended or made them feel to hate me, that I AM VERY SORRY. AGAIN, FORGIVE ME.

Seeking and maintaining peace is something I always do and not to set anger, hatred or worst fear to anyone or everyone. Now I know what responsible writing means. We learn from our mistakes.

1. Uni Pens (#.1, .3 .8)
I have them and using them for almost 3 years now. Very smooth handling. Good inks. Water proof. It easy for those croquil pen effect (thick to thin flow lines). And it is in the mid range price. Not expensive but not cheap either. Good for those who wants to start investing on pens who could give good result to your artworks, pronto. Price range: P52

2. STABILO Pen 68 / Eraser / .5 Mechanical Pencil and HiPolymer Leads (B)

Though I have used so many brand of mechanical pencils, I am currently using one from Stabilo. Their Pencil Leads are some of my favorite to use. Does not break that much when I am doing some hard strokes and it doesn't produce smudges when you are having a wet hand syndrome. Good clean and very cheap for a branded instruments.

The Stabilo ExamGrade Eraser: The best since the dust free eraser came out. I LOVE IT! I became an instant admirer of this product. Before I was using gum eraser, but those types leaves sticky stuff on your pencil case or bags and they are getting expensive every year. So, HAIL! STABILO ExamGrade!

STABILO Pen68
I am just trying this new product for a few months now. Use it for easy fill on big black areas instead of using paint brush .3 and my (elephant brand) Indian ink. Not as dark as I have expected and it only last for 3 to 5 pages of heavy black pages. Don't usually use the Photoshop for filling those black area.

3. DongGa My-Gel Pen .7
A very cheap yet very usable pen. Handle it wisely and you'd get those curves and lines that you want with eased. And it is very very cheap. P12

Draw back: Slow to dry and it blots when you drop it and worst... It wont write at all.

But still it's a good product to have for those starting to draw and investing on drawing instruments.

4. Pilot .7 Pen and Pilot COLOR Eno .7 Mechanical pencil with .7 colored lead.

Use it for outlining and plotting my artwork/pages. So theres no need for messy pencil lines and strokes. And their the only brand that sells blue lead. A little expensive though. P50 to P80 fro the Mechanical pencil / P45 for the lead (6pcs)

5. WACOM Graphire 4 Tablet
The last on my instrument. I use this for some final retouching and cleaning of my finished inking pages/artworks. Very useful and very expensive. Price: Check your Local computer shop for prices.

So I hope this will help you eased up in choosing your drawing instruments.

And the question in mind are, how long will these last? Would there be any continuities? Are there gong to be any upgrades on the qualities of their hard copies? Would there be any chance of making them coloured like they used to be? I've notice that only back pages were the only one with advertisements and I don't think that those(advertisers) could support the weekly releases. Much more..would sterling be at the winning end here or Mr.CJC? How about the artist? Are they well compensated? Hope they are not paid by the basic rates or less?

And I think a cool suggestion is that they'd put on every Issues the artist profile. I mean, we need to let the audience know who are those great people behind that great comics that they are reading right now...and not only Mr.CJC get all the praises. He cannot do it all by his lonesome, db? And I am not against him when I said it. I mean, we as an artist should not only be known by our peers alone, and not be know by our audience by names or alias alone and they don't anything bout us personally. It'll be great if kids would look up us and knows who we are and what we do look like. I see the cool work, but I don't have any idea who the hell are those damn good artist who draw these cool stuff.

An artist profile on the middle page could be a wise move.

Just a comment and not any intention of taking a cheap-shot on Mr.CJC.

Hmmm... I need your help.

Malapit na ang Komiks Convention na gagawin sa UP Bhay ng Alumni, sa
Nov 17. Isa ang Graphic Novel ko na ilalabas doon. And wla pko sa
kalahati ng budget required sa pag imprenta ng book. So, nagdecide
akong maghanap ng mag-aadvertise sa pages ng book ko.

I bet everyone is very eager to see the comic (as if naman...lol). To all those people who are asking when will I release the book, well, I was planning it by April (as a birthday gift for myself). But due to the strick schedule I have to follow at work, I have to settle for May or much worst...July. Thats life. I have to finish my obligations first to the people who I work for.

Anyway, can anyone help me get my post (this poster), be posted to any comicbook shop here in Manila (Q.C & near cities.). I don't have any names to talk or who to approache (Comic odessey & Comic quest and the others).

Anyway... It's been a long while since I draw pure pencil again. And my hand have become so stiff. You really have to practise your hand everyday. and your mind aswell to guide you properly.

After finishing this drawing, I've started doing Ian Sta. Maria's "SKYWORLD" character, which I don't know what his name is. After I am done doin that, the next work would be on th H&D comic strips.

Anyway, there was I, alone and excited. First, it'll be my first time to enter a U.P. building again, for so many years. The last one was trying to enroll (supposedly) my last year at this school. The adrenaline it brought me was unexplainable.

2nd, it'll be my first time (in so many year...10 to be exact) to attend a comic convention. The first one was when we (my batchmates & classmates) along with Alamat founded the first ever "Comic Convention" back in '96 and was held at U.P. Faculty Center. There, I've first met Monsanto, Alanguilan and ofcourse, Mr.Bishop himself, Whilce Portacio. I've even let him sign my "Wetworks" collection.

3rd, my first, to join with fellow KOMIKERO members to this kind of an event.

I arrived around lunch time. I ask the ushers / people at the reception where are the Indie publishers are located. Man, we're at the far left front corner of the U.P. Bahay ng Alumnai. There we're so many groups there on that area that we looked like sardines in a plate. Grabe! It only means that there are alot of us talented people that wanted to be notice.

After seeing the spot. I tried looking for my buddies. Alas after 15 minutes of searching, I saw Eroll, he had been waiting since 9 in the morning (hehehe...sorry dude). I greeted him and greeted me back with a bad news... John Becaro's (our designated computer artist/letterist and inker) computer had gone haywire. That it was impossible on that day to fix it and the lack of money forced him to let his computer have a day off.

So, when he (John) arrived, I've told him that it's alright and maybe our comicbook isn't ready for the public. We then went our ways. I stayed with my former classmates & member of the "BLOCK COMICS" that founded the first comic convention. IAN STA. MARIA of ULTRA COPS ([link]) & Ka'Jo BALDISIMO ([link]) of the now very famous "TRESE" along with BUDGETTE TAN of "ALAMAT COMICS" . It was a sweet reunion for the three of us, we also saw one of our professor at the College of Fine Arts here at U.P., Prof. Hernando. Dude nice to see and talked to you again. . I have met Ian's girlfriend and also talked to Mr. Gilber Monsanto. Jonas Diego was to busy with his "LEAD SLINGER CHALLENGE", while JAC & RAYPO sat at one corner or sometimes walk from one table to another.

Time was short and the date it was held was a wrong timing for me, payday was a week earlier and the money I had with me was just enough. Anyway, this coming payday, I am goin to get a copy of Elmer 2 (www.komikero.com) & TROPA ([link]). Whew! Almost forgot, Thank you Ed Tadeo ([link]) for the YSB copy (dude, you forgot to sign my copy...lol), Ian Sta. Maria, Budgette & Ka'jo for giving me a copy of their new comic "Ultracop" & "The Last Datu". Signed & with a kiss from Ian. har-har-har!
The event was a blast! To those who didn't attend the Komikon, guys, you've just missed a very important part of your komikbook life.

after that would be JACK-Q then it was replaced by WATARI.

Then on Saturday Morning it'll be channel 9's morning treat of "SATURDAY FUN MACHINE" a three hour marathon of different cartoons. From Hanna-Barbera's Zorro, John Blackstar to Popeye ( the 80's version), Great Space Coaster, Space Gohst & ofcourse "SUPERFRIENDS". Still on channel 9, afternoon treat still fires up with the classic inter-galactic partner "KYODYEN" and the greatest swash-buckling team of all time (my generation ofcourse) "THE STAR RANGER"
(see picture below). Then, suddenly they we're banned for public viewing. The president then, the late Ferdinand Marcos banned all violent orriented cartoon & japanese superheroes. That leave us with nothing but channel 9's "SATURDAY FUN MACHINE. Channel 7 "ANNALIZA" & channel 9's "FLORDELUNA" heats the tube thereafter.

Not after the "PEOPLE POWER REVOLT", have these antiomation we're awaken within their cryogenic state on Philippine TV. Arm with a new inspiration, Channel 13 brought in "VOLTRON GO-LIONs" and the newly opened Channel 5' joinned the fray and introduce the smash TV series "BIOMAN". Even If I still wish "STAR RANGER" would be viewed again, I find "BIOMAN" a fun and interesting to watch as a team fighting super heroes. Then all sorts of Intergalactic Super Cops & Defender of the Earth came poppin to our tube from one channel to another. "SHAIDER", "ULTRAMAN", and the multi-million U.S. Based toy franchised "POWER RANGERS"

My eyes have been glued to the tube since kinder and now have two kids (from different relationships) and getting aged but wiser, I am still glued to the tube. But with a different viewing preferences. Channel 9's on top of my list with their hit t.v. series. (from Alf, Punky Bruster, Perfec Starngers to the new hit BOSTON PUBLIC, Felicity, CSI, Without A Trace, and the MEDIUM. or all BUCKNHIMER's Collection), Channel 23 also got me, with CHARMMED, Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy while channel 5 keeps me seeking to DVD Stall Seller the very touching series "WONDER YEARS".

And now here I am, watching "BAHAY MO BA 'TO" while typing this piece.
I am tire and ready to sleep. later.
