Anyway, once again, I'm not dead. Long story short, I got busy with school, had a gigantonormous art block, and then when I finally wanted to do art again, my tablet PC died. x_x Now I have a new computer and tablet, so yay art!

Why do I always want to do art when my homework load is the greatest? Procrastination much, or something? >_>;

Over the summer and fall I was pretty much stuck in a giant art block. Had no interest whatsoever in art.

And now that it's the last two weeks of the semester, full of projects, papers, and exams, my little art bug has come back like a Giant Thing From Outer Space.

It figures. -_-

Anyway, just two weeks left in the semester and I am beyond excited to have it done. This has pretty much been the suckiest semester ever, school-wise.

I'm hoping I'll have time over winter break to work on some arts. I've only got one final this time during the beginning of finals week, so I basically get four weeks of vacation instead of three. Huzzah! :3

Expect some more Warriors fanart, particularly with the recent release of Power of Three #5 (Why won't you ship it already, Amazon? )

Also I want to do fanart for a new book called Promise of the Wolves. For all you animal fans who like things like Warriors and the Ratha books, I highly recommend Promise of the Wolves, by Dorothy Hearst. It's about a pack of wolves living 14,000 years ago, and trying to bring peace between the wolves and the humans. There is a bit of mythological element to it as well. It's the first book of what will be a trilogy.

I agree with everything she said in her most recent journal. Sometimes I get a little upset that people only seem to care about my art and don't make any effort to get to know me, or go over to my personal journal on LJ. But then I remember that this is an ART website, so of course we are all here for the ART! lol And then I am not bothered as much.

I also get tired of comments on my front page asking to use my art in videos, on websites or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I definitely appreciate being asked, and if you ask, I will more than likely say yes! It's just that I can sometimes go for weeks forgetting to check my front page comments, and then you think I am ignoring you and get upset, and that's no fun. I would just prefer that questions about art usage be handled through notes or on the artwork's actual page, since those will get you a much faster response.

People are going to take art no matter what, so I greatly prefer being asked and saying yes, so I can keep tabs on where my art is going. For the most part, anyway. I figure for every person that actually asks, there are probably at least 10 more that just take without asking. Oh well.

ANYWAY.

This wasn't intended to be a diatribe about art usage. o_O

THE REAL PURPOSE!

Ask me any question you want! Ask me several questions! School, hobbies, politics, sex, whatever! Just try not to make it too inappropriate, okay? I do have quite a few young watchers due to my Warriors fanart. Not that scarring children is a bad thing!

I figured I should make an obligatory April 1st post. Though I won't be doing any of that "OMG I'm taking my gallery down and LEEAAVVVINNNGGGG! *whinewhinecry*" jokes. Those get old really fast. -_-

Plus all the 15/16/17 year-olds pulling the "I'm pregnaaaaant! " stuff, like it's actually funny or something. >_>

Maybe I just don't see the humor in it, but people are expecting pretty much everything to be a joke on this day anyway, and if you're doing the same joke as everyone else, well....that's just lame and unfunny.

I am enjoying the Mudkip avatars though. Even though it confuses me since DA is all anti-4chan and throws down the b&hammer to anyone who even thinks about thinking about it. But maybe that's the point, to further confusion?

Anyway. There was another point to this journal.

In case you've been missing me on Furry Paws....lol I know my account has been locked for almost a month now. ._. I originally intended to just lock it for a few days over Spring Break and then be right back. But then I got to enjoy not worrying about FP and trying to get all my dogs shown and stuff. Then I came back to school and found that I actually had time to do...school stuff...eww...when I wasn't spending several hours a day on FP.

Because really, FP is stressful for me. In many ways. And I am really enjoying this unplanned break from it.

Don't worry, I'll be back someday. Hopefully soon, within a couple weeks or so. I told myself that I will not go back on FP until I finish the commissions and art that I have been owing forever. So that's that.

Sorry for the un-announced hiatus, but apparently I really needed it. And if anyone else is asking about me on FP (I doubt it, lol), feel free to point them to this journal. I could get on one of my spare accounts, but I know that would just pull me back onto my main account again before I'm ready. So I'm just staying away, cold turkey, until I get stuff done.

Oh, one more thing! I have moved back to LiveJournal, since GreatestJournal rolled over and died. The link is on my profile page, or you can note me about it. Feel free to add me, all the posts are Friends-locked, so we will have to add each other if you want to stalk me.

But first, I must make it through Death By School, Round #8572956. A.k.a the pre-vacation dump of papers and exams. I have three exams on Thursday and one on Friday. And a take-home 10-page midterm that is due on Thursday, or we can turn it in the Tuesday after Spring Break. I think I'm probably going to have to end out turning it in after Spring Break. I wanted to get it done for this Thursday, but right now it's looking like that isn't going to happen. And it might give me something to do while Cody is at work.

My 3-ish month art block has finally crumbled. Who knows how long my inspiration will stick around. Hopefully for a while.

I've got one commission (from back in November, ack!) to finish, so hopefully I can get that done soon. Other than that, expect more Warriors fanart. :3 My Tallstar image is almost finished, but I may end out scrapping it and starting over. The anatomy is killing me. -_-

I'm really sorry for disappearing without warning over the summer. Though no one seemed worried anyway, so whatever. XD

Over the summer I got a job at PetSmart, which took up pretty much all my time May - July. Then July - August was various vacation-type stuff. I did a bit of drawings then, but not very many.

However! I am back at school now [ewwww, school D:], and have completed several...stuffs. x3 But I won't bombard you with update-spam, I'll just upload them kind of slowly. And I've got some more stuff in the works, namely more Warriors fanart that is poking quite viciously at my brain-meats.

I've also created a new character, who I love very much. He's going to have a two-part reference sheet, the first of which is completed and will be uploaded shortly.

Oh, and I had my first art thief a couple weeks ago. o_O Someone on Neopets had taken my Siberian husky IB pic and was selling adoptables of them. I messaged them, and thankfully they agreed to take the images down. I am grateful that they were cooperative (not all art theives are so agreeable), and thanks to the person who notified me.

I feel like I'm growing up in the art world, if someone thinks my crap is worth stealing. But seriously, I hope I don't have to deal with that anymore. >_>

One last thing. Once I get these recent images uploaded, I will probably be doing a massive gallery cleaning. I can't stand to look at that crappy stuff anymore. XD So if (and I can't imagine why) there is anything that you want to keep out of my gallery to stare at, then you better save it in the next week, or it'll be gone.

But it seems to be fading away, which is good. And I'm getting back to the canine art again. I'm still working on my style and trying to make it more detailed. Maybe I'll design some new characters...been thinking about that for a while. I definitely need to do something with Aiyana. She's been pretty ignored since Absolute Zero came onto the scene. o_o;

I have been working on improving backgrounds. ^^ If you're on Furry Paws, you can see the WIP for my next submission (the gift for Auty 8D), and I'm quite happy with the background on it.

School is almost done...three weeks of class and one week of finals. I can see the last day of school on my calendar without turning the page! That makes me so happy!

Oh! Last week my boyfriend and I bought a PS2. So what does that mean? OKAMI!!! omg That game seriously rocks my socks right out of my pants. Expect some fanartage sometime. After I finish all the other stuff people are bugging me about.

"Secrea Natame" is an orginal name that I created about 6 years ago and have used ever since. Back then, when I did a search for Secrea, the only results that would come up were my sites and the conjugation of a verb (Spanish, I think). Now, I see other people using that name too. As aliases, in fanfiction... But whatever. I still know I was the first and the unoriginality of other people isn't my fault.

So, if you see anyone using the name Secrea or my art outside of the accounts listed above, most likely it's not me. But please note me and ask me first. And I would like to be notified if anyone sees my art being used outside of the above accounts.

So...Spring Break royally sucked. Other than the fact that it's over and I have to go back to class tomorrow...we had to put one of our kittens to sleep on Friday. Which most of you saw with my latest deviation.

It's really tearing me up. That little kitten got to me. He was so aloof and didn't like to show affection so it made you want to love him even more. And he had a great personality. Even though he wanted distance, he was almost always the center of attention. Whether it was laying in the middle of the kitchen floor, running around the agility equipment with the dogs, sitting on top of the cat tower and batting at the dogs' tails, or laying in the bathroom sink...he was always there.

He'll always be in our memories.

I know I haven't uploaded much for a while, but right in the middle of being entered in a bunch of contests on Furry Paws, my art bug left me. What a cruel time to do that. ._. It's coming back though, and I'm working on about 5 different drawings at once, so expect update spam sometime.

I've been browsing Encyclopedia Dramatica [link] It's pretty entertaining. XDD

I want to get into more realistic art. Not abandon the cartoony art, but just add realism to the stuff that I do. *SnowWolfMystic's gallery is amazing, and she's really fueling my desire to work on realistic canine art. Cartoon art is great, but I feel that realistic art will really challenge me to push myself. My most realistic attempt is that fox with the flower drawing (I don't think it's in my gallery anymore), and that's not realistic at all. XDD

The only downside is that it will take a lot longer to finish a piece, and I'm not a patient person. I get bored after working on a drawing for so long. Sometimes I can walk away and pick it up again later, and sometimes it stays there collecting dust on my harddrive. I have almost as many unfinished drawings saved in the My Pictures folder as I do finished ones. Most of them will never be uploaded either, since they're pretty old and I have improved and changed my style since then.

Yes, improvement. I have noticed that I am improving a bit. You're probably going "What the hell are you talking about?" since I haven't uploaded much, but once I do, you'll see it. My art (cartoony, at least) is getting better. And I can actually see a bit of my own style starting to develop in it, which makes me happy. ^-^

One more thing. Anybody know of any other art sites like this? Besides SheezyArt. I'm looking for somewhere else to take up residence. No, I'm not completely leaving DA, but I probably won't upload all of my art here anymore. Just a few things now and then. There's just too much drama going on (not related to me), and art theft is getting way out of hand. I'd rather get out of here before I become a target for any of that.

If I can't find any other sites, I'll probably just upload the majority of my stuff on Furry Paws, as that's the only place I currently consider it to be mostly safe.

Can someone please tell me who did the original art in this icon?



I remember seeing it when it was originally posted on DA, but I don't remember who did it. And now it seems that everybody and their dog has this icon. And no one has the original artist listed in the description, and it's really bugging me as to who made it.

Update: Okay, I scrolled through ~ganen's favorites, and found this avatar. Apparantly it was made by ~GlassWind, and some people stole it, and a bunch of people took it from them, and it just keeps expanding across the internet. It really makes me mad that people just steal stuff like this and don't even think about giving any credit.

But now I feel better knowing who the original artist is.

I was so happy when I saw it sitting on the shelf that I got tears in my eyes. No joke.

I'm absolutely in love with FY:GK. Even more so than the original FY, I think. I sense fanart in the near future.

I also got Hot Gimmick 11, Fruits Basket 13, and Fullmetal Alchemist 8 (which was also a month early, I think).

Notes on the Featured Deviation
This came about after I spent a lot of time listening to Brooks & Dunn's "My Heart is Lost to You" and "My Maria" over and over again. I love the Spanish flair of that music, and I've always been enchanted by Spanish dancers. Well, this lady isn't quit a Spanish dancer, but I could see her strolling up out of the desert to capture a cowboy.

RULES- write 6 wierd random things about you.

1. I can't sleep without socks on

2. I eat cupcakes from the bottom up o.O; Like...the bottom part first, then the crown part with the icing...yeah... o.o;

3. It doesn't take much to make me sweat. I just naturally get hot really fast. Urm...yeah.

4. I'm deathly terrified of bees, wasps, and other stinging creatures. I even freak out when I hear a hummingbird because it sounds like a bumblebee.

5. Erm...I'm running out of ideas....

6. I used to be a big cat person. I didn't want anything to do with dogs, but now I love them.

Okay, the last ones were lame and sadly enough it took me about two hours to come up with them. We won't tell anyone that, right? XD

That aside, I got back from an agility trial today. We went to Canada on Thursday for a USDAA trial and now we're back. And I'm friggin' exhausted.

Artwise, I do have a drawing for a new character. I need to work on coloring it, though. Who knows how long that will take. I also want to make some drawings for a couple of my dogs on FurryPaws.

Notes on the Featured Deviation
I really like the shading and highlighting on her hair. I tried to use =joulee's hair coloring tutorial [link] (it's in my faves too). As you can see, it looks nothing like the beautiful outcome of =joulee's picture, but I think I'm on the road to finding a new and improved way of coloring/highlighting hair. (sounds like an infomercial... Order now! Only $19.95 plus shipping and handling!)

I've been watching a lot of House M.D. I love that show! And it's on Fox, which means I can still watch it when I go home. ^^

Despite the lack of submissions, I really have been working on stuff. There hasn't been much time with the semester ending and finals coming up, but I've tried. I've done quite a bit on *scuzme's request. The base coloring is done, and right now I'm working on the backgrounds and shadows. Last night (while watching House!) I started drawing a new pic of Secrea.

So that's what's happening in that department.

I am soooooo ready to go home. Which is the opposite of how I was in the fall. In August, I was all like "YEAHH!!! COLLEEEEGE!" and happy to be away from home. Now I want to go home. It's not that I really miss being home, per se. I'm just tired of being here.

It'll be really nice to be able to go to sleep without people screaming and squealing and who knows what else until 4:30 in the morning. And then they wake up at 8 and start up again.

You have no idea how nice it will be to be home... Well, ~Uozumi will, but she's my roommate, so yeah.

Let's say that we'll be really happy to live in Hillenbrand next year.

ZOMGKITTEH!

We might be getting a kitten in a few weeks!

The people who help us train our dogs in sheepherding just had a litter of kittens, and my mom has become attached to one of them. I haven't seen them yet, since I've been at school, but she said they're really cute.

They're kittens, of course they're cute!

She said that the one she likes is white with tortoiseshell-type rings around his tail, and he has two black spot things on his head that look like a ghost, so she named him Spook.

She was worried that our dogs might try to kill it, since the kittens are about chipmunk-sized right now. And you know how dogs and chipmunks are... >.> But she said that Sam was VERY protective and careful with the kittens, and Kaden licked one. So no worries about them attacking a kitten. ^^

Kitty taught them well, to repect the Power of the Feline.

For those who don't know, we had our cat, Kitty, put to sleep in March. She was 17 years old and had cancer in her mouth, so she could hardly eat any more. It was hard to let her go, since she and I practically grew up together, but it was the right thing to do. She didn't need to suffer any longer than she had.

She's now permanently sleeping under her favorite tree in the front yard. Whenever I let her outside, she'd race to that tree and climb it as fast as she could, then jump down and just saunter around like "I feel better now." ^^

But yeah, she grew up with two rottweilers, and she had those dogs WHIPPED. It was pretty funny to see this little 8 pound cat boss around two 120 pound rottweilers. They had a game, where if she walked, they wouldn't chase her, but if she ran, they would. So sometimes she'd run along with them chasing her, then she would just stop, and the rotties would fall over each other trying to stop.

So after the rotties, two little border collie mixes were nothing for her. I think she did a good job of teaching our dogs that cats are the boss.

It'll be awesome to get a kitten. They're too young right now though, only about two weeks old, so it'll probably be five more weeks or so before we can have one.

But yay kitty!!

I feel like a complete moron for putting this in here, but you never know what'll happen on the Internet. Now that I've put this in here, I'm probably going to have a bunch of people going "ZOMG look what *NatameSecrea did, she's such a DORK!!! " Oh well. I was bored and needed something to do.
