I've started to work through my deviation messages, gone from 791 works to 549 and from 270 messages to 7 (which have only just recently come through).

So whats been happening? Well I've been working away on uni commitments, another semester down and one more to go until I'm out, which I'm looking forward to. Its been very up and down emotionally for me and I've been reflecting a lot on what I want in life. I know for a fact that I really look forward to the end of the year mostly because I want out of university. I find it scary how much it consumed me last semester (definitely will again as well the coming semester) and once I finish I probably wont return for further study, at least not for some time anyway.

Anyway, enough rant, hope you are all well, I will get around to commenting all your work hopefull soon (I still have 2 exams to do in the next 2 weeks, but hopefully ill get some time after that)

Update:

Slowly working through your works. I'm going one artist at a time atm. I'm over half way through now(from about 110 down to 39 atm) and I hope to finish them all soon.

I'm surprisingly feeling a little excited about Christmas coming this year, maybe due to the fact that I'm working right up till a week before. How is everyone else feeling?

At the end of the last semester, I decided that since I'm so indecisive about what to do with my holidays, often letting them go to waste, I should make myself a list of things to try and do over my break so that I wouldn't end up boring my brain out. Some I completed, some i didn't, here's the list I made and some of the ones I can tick off

1: Read Shannara - Double Tick
This is referring to my book 'The Sword of Shannara' by Terry Brooks, which I tried but unsuccessfully wanted to read dring the last semester. I'm a slow reader and there were many long periods where I didn't read it, but I'm proud to say that I finished it, literally on th last day of my holidays :cool:. The reason I'm giving this a double tick is because not only did I finish this book, but I managed to read the book Dune (which I've wanted to read for AAAAGES) in between, and in 2 WEEKS! This makes it the 2nd shortest I've read a book, behind the 3 days it took me to read 1984.

2: Finish FFX - No Tick
I don't think I played the game once during the whole holidays ^_^;

3: Get FFXII - Tick
Got it for Christmas

4: Finish Girl with flowers pic - Tick
It's in my DA gallery

5: Draw Up **** **** characters - No Tick
I've drawn one, but theres still a fair few to go yet

6: Go Over Anatomy - No Tick
I went to the library, I got out books on anatomy...but I never read them . However, the day before they were due back, I scanned the pictures I wanted from the book for future reference.

7: Study clothes/colouring - No Tick

8: Make More Art - Half a Tick
I've been producing more art than my usual one every 6 months, but I'm not producing it as often an I'd like, I'm hoping my use of photography in the weeks to come will inspire me into artistic action

9: Go to GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art) - Tick
I'd been aching to go for ages and I finally went with a friend to check out the Andy Warhol exhibition, and let me tell you, it was very awesome. I learned a lot more about his character which I didn't really know due to a lack of knowledge into his thoughts behind paintings, many of which I had never seen before. That and the Silver Clouds were so fun to play with

10: Evil Piggy Picture - No Tick
My evil piggy picture, which is a somewhat request from a friend, is still yet to be made much progress on, however I have done the line work for him the other day and hopefully he will be my next major piece to work on.

11: Redesign Website - Tick
Since learning about HTML and CSS at the start of last year I've been wanting to completely pull my old website down and start again, however uni does seem to take up a lot of my time. I did get around to fixing it though and I'm happy with the results, apart from the fact that geocities completely pwns the layout if its viewed in IE (gah!!!).

In the next break I plan to make up another list of things to do which will include ones not ticked on this list and some new ones which I forgot to put on the first one.

Speaking of the holidays, I hope everyone's christmas went well (I know but better late than never). I got FFXII and I've been playing it quite a bit, very impressed so far. I love how large all the areas are and I always go around and check out as much as i possibly can cause... it just doesn't feel right having a map with parts of it not visited . Basch sounds like he should be in LOTR and whats with Marquis having an Indian accent? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Indians, it just seems random. Penelo is atm my favourite character, and Princess Ashe my least favourite, I dunno, she just comes across as a really annoying person. I still don't understand how Fran can run around in high heels IN THE DESERT

Artwise, I have not been doing a whole lot, mostly because FFXII and other games among other things have been keeping me distracted I have been slowly working on one particular picture, though I'm currently thinking about how I'm going to go about colouring a certain part of it and I'm gonna look into some tutes before I attempt it again. After I finish this one I have another lined up, a request from a friend. My mini idea book also has a couple of things that I could probably start sketching up soon. I'm hoping to get the first one finished before uni starts again *fingers crossed*.

Speaking of finishing things, I finally finished KH2!! YAY!!. I know, I've had that game for at least a year if not more, and I've been told that theres really only 24 hour gameplay there, but i like stretching things out. I figure if you're going to buy a game which is fairly expensive and its really fun, you might as well enjoy it for as long as you can. I found the ending better than expected, I thought one character or another would be left behind somehow (like Riku and Mickey in the first one), leading to the next game. The 2 trailers for KH3 look really awesome too, looking forward to it.

Ok, art-wise, I do have something I shall be putting up soonish, 2 WIPs (probably wont be touched till next holidays ) and an idea (or two) which hasnt taken off for the moment. Slowly, but I'm a slow worker with these things

Every day, there are more and more Craigs List posts seeking “artists” for everything from auto graphics to comic books to corporate logo designs. More people are finding themselves in need of some form of illustrative service.

But what they’re NOT doing, unfortunately, is realizing how rare someone with these particular talents can be.

To those who are “seeking artists”, let me ask you; How many people do you know, personally, with the talent and skill to perform the services you need? A dozen? Five? One? …none?

More than likely, you don’t know any. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be posting on craigslist to find them.

And this is not really a surprise.

In this country, there are almost twice as many neurosurgeons as there are professional illustrators. There are eleven times as many certified mechanics. There are SEVENTY times as many people in the IT field.

So, given that they are less rare, and therefore less in demand, would it make sense to ask your mechanic to work on your car for free? Would you look him in the eye, with a straight face, and tell him that his compensation would be the ability to have his work shown to others as you drive down the street?

Would you offer a neurosurgeon the “opportunity” to add your name to his resume as payment for removing that pesky tumor? (Maybe you could offer him “a few bucks” for “materials”. What a deal!)

Would you be able to seriously even CONSIDER offering your web hosting service the chance to have people see their work, by viewing your website, as their payment for hosting you?

If you answered “yes” to ANY of the above, you’re obviously insane. If you answered “no”, then kudos to you for living in the real world.

But then tell me… why would you think it is okay to live out the same, delusional, ridiculous fantasy when seeking someone whose abilities are even less in supply than these folks?

Graphic artists, illustrators, painters, etc., are skilled tradesmen. As such, to consider them as, or deal with them as, anything less than professionals fully deserving of your respect is both insulting and a bad reflection on you as a sane, reasonable person. In short, it makes you look like a twit.

A few things you need to know;

1. It is not a “great opportunity” for an artist to have his work seen on your car/’zine/website/bedroom wall, etc. It IS a “great opportunity” for YOU to have their work there.

2. It is not clever to seek a “student” or “beginner” in an attempt to get work for free. It’s ignorant and insulting. They may be “students”, but that does not mean they don’t deserve to be paid for their hard work. You were a “student” once, too. Would you have taken that job at McDonalds with no pay, because you were learning essential job skills for the real world? Yes, your proposition it JUST as stupid.

3. The chance to have their name on something that is going to be seen by other people, whether it’s one or one million, is NOT a valid enticement. Neither is the right to add that work to their “portfolio”. They get to do those things ANYWAY, after being paid as they should. It’s not compensation. It’s their right, and it’s a given.

4. Stop thinking that you’re giving them some great chance to work. Once they skip over your silly ad, as they should, the next ad is usually for someone who lives in the real world, and as such, will pay them. There are far more jobs needing these skills than there are people who possess these skills.

5. Students DO need “experience”. But they do NOT need to get it by giving their work away. In fact, this does not even offer them the experience they need. Anyone who will not/can not pay them is obviously the type of person or business they should be ashamed to have on their resume anyway. Do you think professional contractors list the “experience” they got while nailing down a loose step at their grandmother’s house when they were seventeen?

If you your company or gig was worth listing as desired experience, it would be able to pay for the services it received. The only experience they will get doing free work for you is a lesson learned in what kinds of scrubs they should not lower themselves to deal with.

6. (This one is FOR the artists out there, please pay attention.) Some will ask you to “submit work for consideration”. They may even be posing as some sort of “contest”. These are almost always scams. I supposed to be getting my wisdom teeth out on the 30th. Last night, totally out of no where, I started to cough. The coughing kept going till I have a pretty bad sore throat. I wake up this morning, it's still there, worse. Throughout the day the cough has continued and I've had headaches and now I'm starting to feel my nose starting to stuff up.

It's irritating because there really is no relief from it. I've had those sore throat lollies but I find they only cover the pain up for a while and everytime i use them, its seems like less time. I've had cold foods but again only lasting a small amount of time. The issue is due the the fact that every time I breathe, it dries out my sore throat, causing me to cough, which makes my throat more sore and dry. So yeah, chances are I'm now not getting my wisdom teeth out and I'll have to wait another 6 months before I can get them out. I find it frustrating as hell.

I apoligise for not commenting on your artwork the past week for I have been away with friends celebrating finishing high school I have managed however to get through and comment on all of your works today and now I'm back in the game.

I'm now on holidays and I plenty to do, I plan to

I'm also concerned that my marks will drop because apparently she is also marking our work, which I dont like, mostly because I don't like change, especially when it comes to school and with it being really late in the year. I dont believe this teacher will see what i've come from because she hasn't taught me since about 2 years ago, so I would prefer my actual art teacher to mark my work, to keep the standard going. I'm finding myself being very untrustworthy of her, because I get that feeling from her as if she thinks I'm a smart ass or something, because I sit in class doing nothing. It's not like this teacher is mean or anything, I mean I've always liked her but now that I know shes marking our work, I don't like it and it makes me feel really uncomfortable. But yeah, I'm not going to be impressed if she tells me to make the picture better, because quite plainly I can't and I also refuse to.

I have my biology seminar tomorrow, I'm kinda nervous, for last time I did a seminar in bio I got the worst marks out of all my biology marks got, luckily it didn't count back then. I also have Jap speaking this Wednesday, I really don't want to do it. I have seriously gone from loving jap to absoluting hating in one term, which started back in about April when we (surprize) got the other jap teacher, where we not only realized that our previous teacher hadn't really taught us anything and had put us under pressure for not taping our speaking at the start of the year, but we also had every vocab and grammer point thrown at us at once and we had to learn them. I'm talking about 2 pages of grammer and 3 columns of words on a full A4 page. Its been like that since and I really cannot stand it. So yeah, wednesday is not a fun day by any means. Friday is similar, I have maths problem solving, not stressing out though. Surprizing I've been lazy these last couple of weeks, simply because I'm getting over the whole school thing and I really need the break coming up, otherwise I will go berserk. Yay for this being the last week of assessment and next week with nothing They will be something to look forward to, for we not only have our post post post (), I'll also be able to catch up with lots of James time and play KH2 when it comes out this holidays! finally!

Someone make it pour tomorrow and friday, I really don't want our sports carinval. I wish I was in any other house apart from our house where participation is its main goal. For the last 2 years I have managed to get out of all the events I nominated for by simply not going to them when they're called, but now that I'm in senior year, I don't know if I can get away with it, I shall try though. Don't get me wrong but quite frankly I have no house spirit, due to been forced into events in my first two years at the school and I don't being forced into things I don't want to do. Well, after this carnival it will be the last I'll ever have to go to so I'll just have to wing it somehow.

Next week we have our formal, it has kind of snuck up on me in the sense that I'm sort of suprised that in a week I shall be wearing a dress, high heels, jewellary and have my hair up pretty and makeup on. It's crazy. I didn't want to go early in the year but due to certain circumstances I now am. I'm interested to see how it'll turn out but I'm also nervous due i'm not your girly girl, and I'm not used to people being all excited about things like this, seriously, people were talking about it in the first week of school at the beginning of the year. The spray-on tans have started popping and I expect to soon see many oompa loopas running around my grade. I'd love to know why girls think it's attractive to have a bright orange shade on their skin, cause I don't know many guys who go 'wow, look at that fake tan, she's soooo sexy'.

But enough about the formal, its annoying as it is. I need some help, I'm trying to find a artist (visual artist, just in case you think about music or anything like one of my friends did) whose artworks are introspective. If you don't know what that word means, its basically a self-reflection, looking inside yourself kinda thing, look it up in the dictionary if you need more of an explanation. I already have Salvador Dali, Brett Whiteley and Jackson Pollock, I just need one more, if you can think of any, please tell me, I'd really appriciatate it I haven't been working on many art things except for the one I'm doing for this terms work, which is slow as it is trying to get one idea together. I hope I can get started on it soon cause I know that whatever I do it will take a while to work out and I need to play around with PS CS2 more to see what I can get out of it. I doubt any other art pieces for a while, except many some photos, for I have finally intstalled the software again for uploading pictures

I now have a new speedy compy!!! its so awesome, my sims 2 runs at normal speed now I also have a flat screen which now very clearly shows me heaps of shading mistakes I've made in previous artworks, so hopefully I can improve On that note though, I probably won't be producing many art pieces for due I have to spend the last week of my holidays getting ready for next term and I also don't have photoshop on the compy and it may be a while before I reinstall it. I only just finished the outline rim of the developmental piece tonight Luckly though I can reuse all the pieces of my developmental for my final work. 1) I'm afraid of a lot of things, except they're things that most people aren't scared of, like the dark however, I'm a person who isn't phased by heights, needles or going to the dentist

2) I'm a clumsy walker aka I run into things or I walk funny or something along those lines.

I'm so glad holidays have come, the last week of term just seemed to drag on forever and I'm definatly over that term. Looking forward to starting fresh again next term.

I now have plenty of time to spend with James and plenty of time for some intense gaming, especially in Kingdom Hearts, which I spent all of today playing My reason? Partly to play it again cause it is such an awesome game and partly to get myself ready for KH2 when it is released over here, which I'm hoping is soon

I also plan to work on some things I've already started, such as my painting, as well as doing some more photoshoping with a sketch I drew a while back

I've got assessment to do, I'm comforting my friends over their problems (you know who you are, but don't worry, its not like I don't like talking about it or anything ) as well as trying to deal with my own (not including normal concerns) and its just insane. It makes me feel sick at times and it sucks. Things just haven't been that great these last couple of days, and so I say 'Bleh'.

I am looking forward to finishing this term though, tomorrow I have my maths test for problems and then all I have left is my art folio and a speaking test. After that, I can curl up in a ball and go to sleep (I could really use some sleep ).

Let me explain

Ok, last year on our 'leadership camp', HE got us to sing the national anthem and HE said we should sing it at assembly next year so that we can be 'proud' and 'patriotic' etc. Today, both the year 11 and 12s had practise singing it, and the next we know hes saying that WE chose to do this! BULL! theres only a minority of the grade who wanted to, him and the prefects organized that, I hate it when teachers do that, say that we wanted to do it, no no no no NO! its him who wanted to do it, geez.
It happened once at my old school in grade 7 too. They said that WE put our graduation thing together, as if, we gave them ideas and brought in music but in the end they made the final decisions, very annoying.

And while im at it, I don't think the anthem should be sung at assembly, now don't get me wrong, i am proud to be Australian and all but
1) we already run into lunch time with assembly, singing the national anthem will only waste more time and
2) I don't think theres a need for it at school. I don't get the 'patriotic' feeling standing and singing it at school. If I had just won a gold medal for Australia and all, then I'd sing my little heart, then I would feel patriotic and proud of my country, or on Australia Day, but at school, no, I dont feel proud of my country going to school, it just doesn't work for me, its like they've lost the whole damn meaning of the anthem, just trying to get us to be patriotic, which I quite frankly, don't think works.

I know some of you will thinks thats crazy, but its just how I feel about the whole stituation, anyway, im off, cya round

I forgot to about Christmas, my bad Hope you all had a good day

Since my last update I havent really being doing much art wise, mostly just spending time with James because hes just so special and awesome but I do have some pictures to start/finish now.

A new years resolution for me? To do more art using more mediums and try to improve by the end of the year. I will have a lot more photography but I also want to try out other materials. My parents gave me AN easel, paintbrushes and paints for christmas so I'm hoping to improve my painting I already have some ideas for a picture I will also be trying to improve my Photoshop skills as well and hopefully I will able to conjur up a folio for the end of the year.

My trip was pretty good. I went to....LA! and spent many a day at Disneyland, my favourite ride is still space mountain though , especially since theyve changed it the start and all, which is pretty cool. I also went to Universal studios, and the mummy ride is awesome but I wont spoil it for anyone and the Van Hellsing walk through...well, it scared me Do not go through that if you're like a really big scarey cat of rides or something. I went around hollywood as well and to the san diego zoo and stuff but the most awesome place I went was the Getty Museum. I saw real Van Gogh paintings and Da Vinchi sketches! I couldn't believe it! it was soooo cool . Definatly worth going there if you're into art

I did do a couple of sketches which I shall post on a later date into my scraps, they're all pretty dodgy. When I came back I shall also be finishing off a late birthday/christmas present for my friend and I shall hopefully get it posted up soon enough.

Since my last journal I have bought the new Madonna CD, Madonna CD = sooooo goooood Which reminds me, I must put it on my Ipod mini

I'm updating now due I shall be leaving for America this Thursday, and I really don't wanna go. Partly cause I dont wanna leave James and partly the fact that I'm scared. Yes I know, its quite shameful, but with all the stuff that being going on the world, with the attacks and cyclones etc, I just wanna stay home. People keep asking me if I'm excited yet, but I dont think I will be till a couple of days in the way its going. I want to have fun, dont get me wrong, but its hard for me right now. I'm so chicken.

But lets get off that. Art wise, I have drawn some stuff which I shall try to finish when I get and also....my mum has decided to buy some paint and a canvas or 2 for us to paint over the holidays I'm looking forward to it cause I've never painted on the canvas before and I'm willing to give it a shot

I'm so excited cause I get to use photography in my lastest art work heehee I've already developed the negatives and they came out really well, when I print them, I'll be sure to share some of them with you I've being waiting for a chance to do photography in art for some time now. I'm also taking some extra paper for drawing on while on camp in case I have a sudden idea while on camp, which I doubt but you never know. Oh and sorry for the lack of art recently, I've got all these assignments and I've being working on them like crazy. I have 2 assignments drafts due in tomorrow morning and 2 others including the bio one after camp due sometime soon, so yeah, 4 assignments, not fun, plus all the tests on top of that = blah, but I dont mind, I'll get through it (rabbles on)

Oh, and I saw the 40 year old virgin last night, funny stuff

Yeah, I'm back at school again for the last term of the year Technically though, School has already been back for a week though our grade has all been on leadership camp, blah . Thats the reason I've been later than usual to get through messages, as well as the previous week when I was on Straddie with James I won't be off for a while now though, at least till Biology camp

But anyway, as to working on anything artistic, I have ideas, but when it comes to actually putting pen to paper my mind explodes and turns into a big pile of goop Hence most of my drawings are going into scraps though I do plan to submit a couple of photos tonight (nothing special, don't get too excited, one is actually just going into scraps) but they're passable

Hail Chicken I say! I mean...um...

ANYWAY! All my assessment for the term is over and holidays start in a week, much happiness and dancing , last test was a art test too, funny that
I'm going to see Charlie and the Chocolate factory on Sunday Can't wait, gotta love a combination of Ronald Dahl and Tim Burton creativity
I'm going with my sister and James ( ), it should be good.

Artwise, my art style has slighty changed, I've been drawing stuff lately that looks 'slighty' more realistic and all, tis qutie fun, but I still have to master things like drawing ears and all, but I'll get there. I also got out my watercolours the other day and had a play around in my big visual journal from home, so a possibility of seeing something with that media, but I dunno yet, I'm out of ideas out the current time, except for the ones in my little visual journal. Maybe I'll attempt them. hmmm

Anyway, I'm back at school again........you know how it is....with its.....schooly...ness.

ANYWAY....I've got a few ideas for some pictures as well as working on 2 others (one for school, one for a friend) which I have now alomst given up on. The one for my friend has a pattern on the clothing, the thing is I really dont have any idea how to do patterns on clothes in photoshop, and if I did, I have no idea what the would be like anyway, I mucked around in PS for a while to try and figure it out but I failed terribly, so I'm kinda leaving that for a while till I figure out how to do it.

The picture for school I've just come alomst to a complete blank with. The teacher said she liked my idea, next time I told her I was haivng a problem, she said not to do it that way and came up with complete different thing. I suck at ideas pretty much oh well, I'll live, I think i know how to change it, but I'm not sure she'll like it either, plus I feel bad for using it cause It haa the same concept has another picture I've seen, I'll give it a shot anyway

The other ideas...well I've done sketches of them in my little book, though I have yet to attempt them in my bigger visual diary :S

But yeah....off art for a while, I went and saw Sin City today Good movie, I like how it was filmed in b&w/sepia (not sure which one, kinda of changed how and then) with only parts in colour (sometimes blood, sometimes colours of peoples eyes), it was all very nifty, especially Frodo, he was amusing (you have to see it) I also got to see it with James too Thank you James

These holidays I'm working on a picture for a friend of mine and so hopefully I'll finish it before the holidays are over, and its going to be my first artwork done in photoshop!!!! Yes, I now have photoshop and I am slowly learning how to use it lol.

Apart from that, I get to spend lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and LOTS of time with James I cant wait, It will be the best part of my holidays

My mum got me a iPod mini, which was supposed to be my only present, which is understandable. Came to school, James had another present for me (he bought me a early present which were relaxation balls), even though it was broken by accident, Its the thought that counts thank you James, so much. I also got a card and some money off my friend Callum, which was surprizing, lol. I came home, got more money and more presents from mum ! a cd and some chocolates. Its being a good day

Sorry about a lack in commenting on artworks, I'm kinda behind atm, I had to work like crazy monday and tuesday night to finish 2 assignments I had due today. I hope to get round to all of them eventually

yeah, I was quite surprized about it so awesome

I'm going to America at the end of the year its going to be fun, second time round

*Ahem* anyway...in art we're doing 'emotion' and this term we're creating a sculpture. We had to hand in a developmental work today, Mine sucked but meh, At least I handed something in. I'll be submitting photos for about a week or so due to we're doing photography in my multi class. We're supposed to be learning about the science of photography, but yeah, I'm also doing mine with a bit of a artistic approach, the good ones I print (yes, we develop oursleves in the dark room) will go into my gallery, the bad ones will be in my scraps, theyre might be a few too because we have to submit some bad ones in our project and yeah...

I also have drawn a bit, I'm currently working on a picture for a friend of mine, though I might not submit it for ages because of school work and all.

I havent put any hugs in this message yet so to you all

Yes, I start school again tomorrow after 2 weeks of awesome holidays I dont wanna go back though, I'm only just getting used to holidays, oh well.

On the holidays, I went to my friends house and played sims, at normal speed!! and with University expansion pack!! it was quite excting for me who suffers from a slow computer, hence I cant get University either. Though mum has considered 'possibly' getting a new computer for Christmas or something (great, I have to wait till the end of the year).

For Easter I got a fair amount of chocolate eggs and all, which im still in the process of finishing off, but the most awesome thing about Easter was James coming over!
James and I also went to the city twice in the holidays, once to the powerhouse museum which had some pretty cool artworks there. I cant thank James enough for making my holidays the best

I did draw these holidays, but only five, quick small sketches (plus 4 others I have yet to draw down) of ideas I was planning to do some these holidays, but it just didnt happen. Sorry. I shall try and get something up soon if I can.

I'm off on a excursion this Wednesday to the Art Gallery for Art (well thats kinda obvious but meh). I'm looking forward to it. I'm just hoping its one that we dont have to take notes on, I find that really spoils a excursions fun completly if you have to try and get down everything they say to you and all, or fill in a booklet, I prefer just looking and listening.
