My half-sister had a gorgeous baby boy on the 20th. I'm seeing him this weekend...in the photos he looks so adorable. I'm really pleased for my half-sis, and I can't wait to see my nephew (half-nephew?) tomorrow.

In other news...I wish the snow could return. We had a bit on Wednesday but it had melted by lunchtime snow is such a fleeting, wondrous and rare phenomenon where I live...

Happy New Year to everyone here! I hope this year will be a good one, especially where studies are concerned. Another one of my resolutions (just calling it that is a guarantee that it will be broken!) is to try and get my artistic muse back, and write and draw more, and maybe get back to pixelling, and taking more photos. And of course, another one is to try and get a job and/or put more money in savings so I can save up for my trip to That Place Where Giant Triangular Piles of Rock Point Out of the Sand.

Anyway, this year's haul of presents was surprisingly small. But it was mainly due to the fact that my main prezzie was an iPod! And I love it. I can't put music on it until I get back to my other computer which has all my CD collection downloaded on it though. But even so, it's a fantastic toy! I also got chocolates, underwear (which I get every year, it's a seasonal tradition) and jelly beans, and a very nice hat. And I stuffed my face with mince pies, home made ones which are the best in the world...it's been a very laid back Xmas this year. Despite the fact that it gets more stressful and more damaging to your bank balance, I still love this time of year, I still can't sleep on Christmas eve, get up before dawn the next day to see what's in my stocking (another childhood thing I can't give up) and marvel at the tree with presents all around...and it's almost over! Amazing how quickly Christmas-and the year itself, come to think of it-passes by!

Season's greetings to all! I hope you're having a wonderful time, whatever you celebrate, be it Christmas, Yule, Hanukkah, or any midwinter revelry, make it a good one, have fun and enjoy whatever Santa has brought you!

It seems the only art I do these days is photography, but the area around my campus is the most soul-suckingly boring place on the planet, made even worse when the weather's crap. The only pretty pictures I can take is of things like pretty autumn leaves. I just need to look for artistic opportunities in real life-I wish I could though. Maybe when I go back to London I can look for 'picture moments'.

I have nothing much to say because my life is just so monotonous these days. Just studying and sleeping, not much else.

I wish I could go to a Halloween party this year. I'm too shy to ask anyone if I can go to the union bar for Halloween, and I want to do the big dress-up thing this year as well. I need to find a fancy dress shop that hires out good Egyptian costumes...

I've got a much nicer bunch of flatmates this time round. There's a good gender mix so I'm not stuck in a flat of just boys. They are cleaner, and also considerably quieter-no more loud music at 3am, no more loud music at all, in fact! There was a gang of beer swilling lads in the kitchen last night but even they were quiet by 11pm. I still have to get to know them-I'm not the type to instantly 'click' with people and large crowds of cliquey mates intimidate me greatly, but hopefully this is just a freshers thing (most of my flatmates are first years) and will pass over time.

I really hope I can handle this year. My next door flatmate is also an astrophysics student, third year. He said that it's gonna be hard-and that's just the second year. So i'm going to have to really work my arse off this year-hopefully I'll stick to that promise. I need to stop my brain from drifting off into other thoughts and hobbies, like my love of Egypt. I need to tell myself that my Egypt phase is nothing more than a hobby. A passion, even, but one I should treat as an indulgence and a treat to look forward to after study (I find it a great antidote for stressful studies, actually) and not a distraction.

I need to get a seperate blog for my Egypt ramblings and thoughts. Some of you might be bored silly of them being posted here, I'm sure. Maybe an LJ or a Blogspot.

I have a terrible case of artist's block + writers block, in fact it's pretty much a whole creativity block. And I don't know how to make it shift. I don't know how to kick-start my muse again, to get back into the swing of doing artistic stuff like sketching, pixel art, and photography, as well as writing of any kind.

Over the time I was studying my first year at uni, I completely lost my drawing knack, or what I had of it. The few recent sketches I have are terribly disproportionate, very odd looking, and it seems I'll need to start all over again to get my drawing talent back again and to improve what I have lost. The same is true with pixel art.

Ditto with writing. The only good things I seem to write are witty remarks in emails and so on, but gone are the days when I had entire novels planned out in my head seem to be over. Now I just have ideas but but no good, concrete plot to go with them.
The worst thing is that the creative block just got highlighted as soon as I ended uni, and with the lack of a summer job I had nothing else to do-it just exaggerates the situation.

Now that I got my university results back for my first year, it was all good until I realised that I failed one module (maths, of course) and have to revise that for September, that's going to hamper my creativity more-if I try and do anything fun, it just makes me feel guilty that I haven't worked enough on studies.

I have some plans, most of them incomplete or just not started...most of these are actually just in my head right now.

So far my plans are:
-'Zep Tepi', a series of drawings and skits based around Egyptian gods and myths, mostly light hearted. Think of the main Egyptian myths as movies on DVD, with my skits/art as the 'deleted scenes' you get as extras. Apologies if someone else has used the name 'Zep Tepi' for their Egyptian gods project, if so, it is purely coincidental and I wasn't aware of it (I have been so out of the DA loop these days).
-An as yet untitled story about a girl who has moles/freckles on her body which make the exact shapes and patterns of the constellations in the sky. She has a special power that will protect the world from impending doom (currently in the form of either a black hole, an asteroid or the possible supernova of Sirius B-and yes, that may happen due to some astrophysicsy details that are too complicated to describe here now-it's highly improbable in real life at this time, but this is fiction...). And of course, this also ties into Egyptian myth.
-'Altar Ego', a story and possibly an RP about teenagers who are the incarnations of the gods of the mythologies and religions of the world, and have special powers relating to their deities.
-I have random stories relating to my cat, sort of like a blog written from my cat's point of view.
-I also want to do some more photography but I have no idea what to take pictures of these days-there isn't anything in my area that's picturesque enough. I have some holiday pictures but most of them aren't as 'artistic' and attractive as that one of the cat.

If anyone can suggest a way to get out of this artistic rut, please let me know. The only cure I can think of-for my Egyptian themed ideas at least-is a trip to Egypt. I've seen it so much on TV and books and pictures but I want to see it in three dimensions. I want to be there. I want to feel it, to hear it. Experience it with all my senses and more. I want to experience it for myself. I'm also going to my first job interview tomorrow...I'm a bit nervous about it but also excited. I hope I get the job-I neeeeeeeed it. I'm seriously broke and could do with a job to keep me busy. I do voluntary work at the local cat shelter for the time being though-it's not paid but I don't mind, I get to look after the most adorable kittens! And that's really worth it.

The only thing that could damage it all is university results. I am really not looking forward to those at all. And of course, the Louvre's Egyptian collection is astonishing. Dare I say it's is even better than the British Museum's? First up, I'm sure it's a lot bigger. It's tiring to walk up and down the corridors to look at everything but so worth it. I also found the collection a lot more varied-not only does it have all the beautiful artefacts crafted perfectly by the Egyptians and all the death-related stuff, it also contained more 'average' items, including the tools used to craft the sculptures, the writing palletes and pens of the scribes, the oil lamps and the tinder-boxes used to light them, flutes and lyres, models of houses and boats, bows and arrows, clothes, reed baskets, and even preserved food-including bread that, miraculously, hasn't gone mouldy after thousands of years! (did they embalm bread too??? I know they embalmed everything animal, but food too?) And this was a side of ancient Egypt I was aware of but seeing it for real just made it more meaningful to me...and it was really wonderful seeing how the Egyptians lived their lives, not just how they died-both commoners and pharaohs/the richer classes.

Of course the Louvre also has a lot of incredibly beautiful Egyptian pieces as well. There were some wonderful statuettes of cats with kittens in playful and ever so cute poses, playing with their mother cat, who was lying down in a very natural feline pose. Those were so sweet! I saw some famous pieces, including a statue of Akhenaten with the elongated face, the famous wooden/limestone statue of the seated scribe with the eyes made of crystal, and the golden triad statuette of Isis, Osiris and Horus (which was a lot, lot smaller than I expected!), the painting of Seti and Hathor from Seti's tomb and more...but I was very disappointed that I couldn't see the Zodiac of Dendera, which apparently was removed from public view two years ago for restoration.

I going to go the Louvre...I know, the place will be packed with Dan-fans and Codeheads but as I do like that particular book myself, I can't wait to see all the stuff mentioned in it-Mona Lisa and all, and also the Egyptian collection! That museum has a huge Egyptian collection including that famous zodiac (proof that the Egyptians invented astrology? Or so I heard...) and so much more! It's probably the closest I'll get to Egypt (reminds me, I need to add more money to the Egypt fund-ie my savings account where all the money will be spent on a holiday in Pharaoh-land, but it'll take ages to get to that stage...I need a job!)

I feel so lonely and this Valentines crap just rubs it in.

I just wish I had someone to celebrate it with. It's just all the boys at uni are either stupid and obnoxious gits who don't chat with girls like me (I'm too brainy for them apparently), and the boys I do like already have g-f's anyway.

Sometimes it feels like I'll never find someone who I can love and who will be the perfect guy for me. I want someone understanding, caring, trustworthy, someone who respects my needs and accepts my flaws. Someone who I can take great pleasure in being with, who will treat me well, who is friendly and fun.

I am friends with someone exactly like that. Only problem is he has a girlfriend in Canada, and he's crazy about her. I'm not jealous, I just kinda feel that I want someone like this guy, but who was single and searching, like me.

I miss being hugged. Isn't it sad that the only people who hug me are my mum, my godmother and my dad?

I just want someone to love me.

I don't particularly think Friday 13 is that bad-I think 13 is a pretty cool number anyway, but it ain't unlucky to me! In fact, today, a bit of good luck happened-I got an A in my coursework set by, yup, the crazy German (and I thought I didn't get any of his lectures!) and I also got A's and B's in my other courseworks. my dad also returned early from hols, he's going to see me on Sunday!

I'm so jealous of my godmother, she's sunning it up in Egypt of all places-yes, she finally went, and of course, left me here in the cold and damp. She went on a Nile cruise this week-she's seeing everything I wanted to see (including the temples of Isis and Horus-I don't think many cruises go to those places) and next week she'll be in Cairo and Luxor! How I'd give anything to be with her...but I have impending coursework, and a maths test next Friday 0.o

I don't think my godmother is going to Egypt after all...I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not. She still won't take me if she does go...and she probably will hate it there anyway-she'll complain about the food, the heat, the (lack of) hygeine, the people, the service, the accomodation, etc...

Saw The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe today. Awesome movie...but I must say that I must have been the only person in the cinema that spotted the Isis-Horus statue on the Professor's table! Goes to show that I am a true Egypt-maniac!!!

The vets have now put her to sleep. It was the best thing to do, sorry to say...especially seeing the state she was in. I think that now she is free from the suffering and is in a better place now-I like to imagine that she is now in a world of endless sunshine to bask in, a huge garden to frolic about in, with plenty of grass to chew and comfy shady spots to laze about in. She's not here in body any more, but she will always be there in spirit. We have many pleasant memories, and she was one of the most wonderful creatures ever to walk the earth. My cat has a stomach tumour. It's probably incurable and I know that she will have to be put down because she is suffering. I will see her this weekend, but I'm worried this will be the last time I ever see her. She was such a beautiful cat and this is one of the worst ways she could have her life ended, by some horrible tumour. I know it will be better to end the suffering, but she was like family to me, with her cuddly fat tummy and the way she would purr like an engine, and her gentle and sweet disposition and adorable face with a little black patch on her nose. She meant so much to me. Well, sort of. When i get internet in my room I may have more time to DAing, especially with a scanner and all (no Photoshop though, dammit!)

Anyway, university. Not as easy and perfect as I expected, but here's a lowdown on what's been up:

The positives:
-The observatory is awesome. Astronomy is the most fascinating part of the course and the last two practise sessions have had clear and star filled nights, the telescopes were used to observe wonderful objects in the sky, such as nebulae, globular clusters, and Mars's close approach. I just hope that when I do my first proper assignment, it will be clear too.
-I find most of the course really interesting. Difficult at times, but fascinating none the less.
-I have some good friends. Not as close as I was expecting, but you never know.
-I like living alone in my little room. No grumpy mum to tell me off every five minutes.

The negatives:
-My flatmates are a bunch of arseholes. Firstly. They don't respect that my subject is tough and needs, amongst other things, a good amount of sleep and silence. But they make noise-be it chatting really loudly in the corridors or playing AWFUL hip hop/RnB/garage music really loud with the bass on full-and it's usually almost always late at night. Secondly. They are mostly boys. Not that i'm against boys but there's 9 boys in my flat and only one other girl. Talk about gender inequality! Thirdly. They are messy and every time they go in the kitchen, they leave an absolute mess and it stinks. Fourth. They don't respect my vegetarianism. Fifth. They think my course is weird/stupid/geeky. In other words, they are a bunch of immature losers.
-I thought I'd make more good, close, tight knit friendships. I've only made one. But so far, i haven't made enough close friendships to go out to parties/clubs, or even to the cinema. I just talk to people on my course every now and then about anything light hearted or about course related stuff. But apart from that, i am a terrible socialiser. And everyone else is getting laid (so they proudly brag). I'm the only one it seems, without even a boyfriend. My social life is still in tatters.
-I'm, like, the only person who hasn't been out clubbing, or hasn't been drunk. See above point on friendship/social life.
-The maths professor is such a stroppy drama queen. He told me off twice already for really stupid things.
-The professor who teaches the hardest aspect of physics (like relativity and quantum) waffles, drones, goes off at tangents and doesn't explain such difficult concepts clearly. (Probably because they can't be explained clearly!!!). He's one of those German mad scientist types-and you thought they only existed on TV!

So, that's uni for you.

I'm really nervous about it...worried that I might not fit in, make friends, settle in, worried that I'll be homesick and lonely. I really don't know what to expect, but I'm hoping that my uni years will be a lot better than my A-level years, both in terms of study and socialising.

The worst news? No computer for about two weeks. Maybe a brief stopover in an internet cafe/library computer every now and then, but certainly nothing major.

And don't worry. I still love having online friends, and will not leave any of you behind, but I hope to start a proper social life with real people I can talk face to face with. But I won't forget you lot either

I PASSED MY EXAMS!

and...

I GOT A PLACE AT UNI!!!!!!!!

Yup, that's right. Convinced I was going to fail, I was terrified of getting my results on Thursday. But then I got them-and I passed maths! Yes, I passed maths-only just, but I didn't fail! And I got a nice mark in physics too. Now, the low pass in maths might not have got me the place in the uni I wanted, but I secured a place in the second university of my choice! So, at the end of next month, I will be a uni student, doing astrophysics! (yes, you read that right!) The uni I'm going to even has it's own observatory where I can do my projects, and it's just under an hour's train ride away from my house! So exciting!
Finally, my future is secure and I know where I'm going in life!!!

I watched the Mummy yesterday, hoping it would get me out of my depression, but nooo! It made it worse. First my mum was complaining about how stupid it was, but then I noticed how many historical and egyptological inaccuracies there are in the whole movie, it just destroyed my whole enjoyment of the movie.
Things like:
-Egyptians were never, ever, mummified alive.
-There were four canopic jars, not five. They didn't bother with the brain, and they left the heart in the body.
-Apparently, there are no such things as Egyptian curses-they were just read by early archaeologists as misinterpretations of hieroglyphs which were protective spells for the dead, and then horror writers put their own twist on them and they became curses. And no, I don't believe in the curse of Tut, even though I was born on April 5, the day that Lord Canarvon died due to 'curse related' causes!
-Egyptians didn't guard their treasures with acid spraying locks, or star shaped locks which are opened with keys.
-The book of the dead isn't a book. It is a scroll. And it is not a book of dark curses, but a guide for the soul of the dead person to navigate his/her way through the underworld. And no, it wasn't evil either.
-Scarabs don't eat flesh!!! They eat s**t. They are harmless dung beetles.
-Anubis was not an evil god. Just because he's the god of the dead, doesn't make him evil. The only 'evil' god in Egypt is Set, but there are many people here who disagree that even he was evil!!!
-Cats were not the 'guardians of the underworld' in Egyptian myth. Cats were seen as the animals of Bastet, goddess of joy and pleasure, who had no death connections whatsoever.
-The language the 'Egyptians' spoke in the film, I'm pretty certain, was not ancient Egyptian. Some people say otherwise, so I may be wrong, and even so, i wouldn't know the Egyptian language unless it hit me in the face with a fistful of hieroglyphs.
-And there are so many more. There are some other things that pissed me off, related to religion and what the Egyptians looked like and so on, that are too controversial to mention here for fear of being flamed.

People may read this stunned that I take a movie so seriously. But the thing is, if it was more satirical and more of a piss-taking comedy movie, I would enjoy it. It takes itself too seriously with it's apocalyptic FX and attitude. I much prefer the second movie even though it really milks the 'Anubis is Evil' angle to the point where I can't stand it. But at least Horus is seen as good.
But what I hate more than anything, is that it is yet another movie that is keeping up the glaring misconception that the ancient Egyptians, and their beliefs and religion, were 'evil'. Hollywood is just enhancing this misconception that has been around ever since King Tut's tomb was opened, that ancient Egypt is a land of evil magic and dark mysteries that will curse all who dare venture into it.
Almost every movie about ancient Egypt that I have seen, shows the Egyptians in such a bad light. Either they are whipping slaves to build pyramids, performing dark evil magic, putting curses on tombs, or the 'evil' gods and mummies have come back to take over the world and destroy all that is good. it makes me SICK! The ancient Egyptians were not evil! Well, surely not all of them were nice, but to label the entire ancient Egyptian civilisation as evil is taking it too far. And the Egyptian religion...just because it has so much relating to death, that doesn't make it evil, dark, or sinister. There are some very benificient gods in the Egyptian pantheon, and not all of them were death related. And just because they were mostly animal headed, doesn't mean they are freakish demonic figures either-the Egyptians were very much into animals and respected nature, they saw godliness in it. And the magic and rituals they performed in ancient Egypt-most of them were not evil, or curse related. Indeed, i don't even think the Egyptians were that big on curses-well certainly not what the movies would have you believe. And also, Egyptologists have agreed that the pyramids were not build by slaves, but by well treated workers. I think a better example would be to think of them as voluntary workers, not slaves-they were well fed and had some of the best medical care of the time-and the building of a pyramid required expert precision and accuracy as well.
But anyway, that is why, with my RL friends, I am not very open about my love for Egypt. Because, they may get the impression that ancient Egypt was a cursed, forsaken place. What exactly has happened to DA? Everyone seems to be boycotting it and complaining...the gist I got of it is that Jark has been fired-now, I don't know him very well-is he the founder of DA? Well, then it's understandable why people are angry. But I don't get all this talk of DA being corrupt and people hating DA all of a sudden-can someone, please enlighten a stupid person (ie me) about what's going on?

Anyway, back to blogging...I can't find a job. I need a job, I'm poor, I'm bored, I need money, and something to do. Why is it so difficult for inexperienced students like me to find a job???

I want a credit card. Then I can ebay to my heart's content. I tried to sign up for ebay, but they asked for my credit card details. I don't have a fucking credit card and I can't even get a fucking bank account because I don't have a fucking job...
Also, I am terrifed about the impending doom of A level results. I'm losing sleep over it. I know i've failed. It would be great if I didn't, but I know that's unlikely. I can kiss my planned astrophysics degree (yup, that's what I was hoping to do) goodbye.

I am so pissed off with life these days, especially in financial and academic matters.

Anyway, I went to Brighton, not to see the pier, but to see the pyramids!!!!! Yup, it was to see the Egyptian Sand Sculpture exhibition-it's filled with sculptures of pyramids, sphinxes, pharaohs, and scenes from Egyptian mythology! It was amazing-and the sculptures are so detailed, so cleverly done...the only problem is that it was still incomplete, some of the sculptures were still being worked on or had just been started-but I'm going again next week with my mum probably-because it's just so good! It's also the closest to Egypt I will ever get for now...

There's even an Egyptian bar in the town called Saqqara! It looks like an Egyptian temple!!! And don't even get me started on the shops...Next time I go to Brighton I need to see the Dr Who exhibition on the pier as well!

But last night's dream was even stranger. I dreamt that up the road, there was a new casino built, and there was a cinema inside it, and I was watching an advert for a new kind of ice cream which was supposed to 'shock your mouth' with 'never before experienced sensations'. It was an ice lolly rectangle divided into six chocolate covered squares, covered in different chocolates, each with a different, well, flavour but really it wasn't your average flavour-one of the squares was supposed to taste like 'a metallic cage of darkness' and another one was supposed to 'taste like a thunderstorm'. I didn't want to try this ice cream because it sounded really scary, but my mum's friend dragged me into a shop, a normal newsagent, and bought it, and forced me to eat it.
I ate one of the chocolate squares, it tasted of dark chocolate, and suddenly I found myself in a frightening place, a labyrinth of unusual, seemingly evil women who kept some children who had deformities and strange appearances, and they were being used as models for some bizarre mixture of a freak show and a fashion show. Several of the kids were bald (or had a few tufts of hair, tied into bunches and pigtails) with red markings on their scalps, faces and their bodies. I was walking through these rooms, feeling scared and threatened by the women in each room who were showing me the strange children, I felt incredibly uncomfortable.
I then found myself in a dark room full of metal bars which i was crawling over and climbing up, it was like a maze in itself, it was really scary and this woman who was with me kept saying disturbing things-I can't remember what but the clearest phrase was when I said 'I feel like I'm having a nightmare' and she said 'Nonsense, only weasels have nightmares', and I replied 'I guess that makes me a weasel then'.
Then I took a bite out of another bit of ice cream that tasted of white chocolate and coconut-and electricity-and found myself in a room full of lightning and storm clouds, and then I woke up.

I have no idea what I have done or taken to make me dream such twisted dreams!!!

I was going to write about my trip to Cornwall, and how exciting it was-I tried out horse riding! it's harder than I expected it to be-especially when my horse didn't obey my commands! And don't even get me started on the horseflies...and on Saturday I watched Live8 in a country apartment in the middle of nowhere-well, it was in Devon somewhere. The weather was crap, but I saw a lot of lovely things, visited some amazing places-like the Eden Project, which I really enjoyed...it was a fun trip!

Oh and my exams are over. And I failed maths triumphantly.

I'm happy, because my exams are over! I'm free from the evil burden of maths exams forever!!!

The bad news is...I probably failed them. I couldn't answer most of the questions, they were so difficult! now I don't know if I'll go to uni

I was also insulted by a total stranger today. Some guy at the post office told me that I was 'mentally retarded' just because I asked him politely to move out of the way! If anyone's mentally retarded, it's him!

I hate thunderstorms. They terrify the shit out of me. Yesterday we had two electrical storms with lightning every 2 seconds. Scaaaaary...

So yeah, I feel mixed up.

Also, I will be away for about week from Friday until next Wednesday. i'm going to Cornwall! I'm going to see the Eden project, learn how to ride horses and, erm, make soap!!

A rollercoaster that spins you round was you go up and down, backwards sideways and all over the place-I went on it 3 times!

There are so many movies I want to see. Hitchhikers (i've got the book recently), Kingdom of Heaven, and The Cat Returns-the new anime from the producer of Spirited Away-apparently they released a movie in France called 'Horus Prince of the Sun'-unfortunately I found out it's not about the Egyptian falcon god, but still...but it was released in France but not the UK! How annoying is that? Another Horus related movie is Immortal (this one is about the Egyptian god himself *squee*) which was released in France and all of Europe and Asia and not the UK! *fumes* I really wanted to see that one-it's aboout Horus returning to earth in the future and is a bit like the Fifth Element!!! Why can't it be released here?
One movie I did see was Star Wars III. Ok, the acting was iffy, but those special effects were pretty damn amazing, and the action scenes...the Yoda light sabre scenes and all that, wow. I also like the way that at the end, it goes back to the first movie and you see Darth Vader getting his mask and his heavy breathing and death star and all that...but I wanna see the first and original movie again (which is now the '4th' movie, confusing isn't it?)-that was the best of them all, and can't be beaten!

I think I'm going crazy...every time I see anything Egyptian, even a tiny detail, I turn into a crazy squee-ing thing, bounce around like a maniac and become more annoying than the bloody Crazy Frog! It feels like I'm like the only person who notices Egyptian details in all sorts of places (like a picture of someone's tattoo in a newspaper-I got all excited because it was an eye of horus) It won't be long until the men in white coats take me away to a padded cell...

There are a few kinds of people who annoy me to no end-such as those snobbish TV critics in the newspapers. Especially when they say that the ancient Egyptians were 'incredibly dull'...

Yes, those are the exact words used by a mindless TV critic in my newspaper today to label the ENTIRE Egyptian civilisation. She dismissed this great and mighty civilisation as 'technically brilliant but incredibly dull for 3000 years'. WTF?????

To say criticise one Egyptian, say, a pharaoh, is ok, to say you prefer the ancient Greeks to the Egyptians, fine, that's personal taste. But to dismiss the whole 3000 years of Egyptian history, with people who made the most the most incredible monuments, the most stunning art with its bright vivid colours and sharp angular geometric style, it's enigmatic uniqueness, it's almost surrealist images of human animal hybrid gods and supernatural creatures of the underworld, it's dazzling gold and statue work, the jewellery, the coffins, the tomb art, the pyramids? WOULD YOU CALL THAT DULL?

No. So shut up, you ignorant critic and do some research before making such mindless comments.

Never ever bad mouth the ancient Egyptian civilisation, ever. Sure they had their faults, they were only human. But they were also one of the most powerful, the cleverest, most innovative, creative and long lasting ancient civilisations the world has ever seen, or will ever see.



I can't help it, that's what being an Egypt-maniac has done to me. Combine it with pre-exam nerves and my days becoming shittier and shittier with each passing minute, and even the slightest criticism in a newspaper makes me explode. I'm going fucking crazy, aren't I?

I am fed up with this weather. Most of the country got lots of snow, whilst London only got a few sprinklings of it and that didn't last. My muse has hibernated...and I don't think she'll ever come out. i can't make dolls, I can't write stories, I am artistically drained. And I'm also depressed in RL. Studies are getting me down and I'm coming to realise that some of the people in my classes are idiotic gonks or showoffy teacher's pets. People like that make me sick. I do have good friends though...and the people in my classes aren't half as bad as the dolts from my last college, which was an absolute shithole. I'm sure that's not what they are really like but I've been so down these days that everything is depressing. Studies, revision, the tube, and all that. And i'm having 'conflicts with my mind...' it's like a huge reshuffling of my beliefs and my ideas and points of view. Those mental conflicts always make me feel depressed. And someone today on a forum (not a doll or art forum though) said something that hurt me-not directlyaimed at me, but what he said really hit a raw nerve and that has brought me to an even lower low than I thought possible...

On a more positive note...has anyone else seen Team America? That movie's fucking HILARIOUS! I was crying with laughter when I saw it...that film, and South Park, and Little Britain crack me up with laughter any time.

~ More tounge in cheek Egyptian god skits like the Xmas one.
~ A spoof of the Isis and Osiris myth! Yes, that's right!
~ As yet untitled story (I'm thinking of 'Heliopolis High' but that sounds a bit too American...but kinda catchy too) where a group of students realise they are incarnations of Egyptian gods, they are discovered by a mysterious new teacher who is Thoth reincarnated. They are then enrolled at a special school in Egypt, like Xavier's academy, where their powers are nurtured and honed to fight against some kind of evil or catastrophe.
~ Deity Academy-similar to above idea but with gods from all mythologies. Will be an RP at the UG.
~ Un-named short story about a dead person's heart being weighed, and perhaps his journey through the Egyptian underworld.
~ Egyptian story for another forum-not sure of the subject yet.

My worst moment of the year was failing my maths exam, and also being at a terrible sixth form school where I had absolutely NO friends whatsoever-everyone there was an antisocial dolt who treated me like I was invisible and non existent. But one of the best things that happen was that after the miserable failure, i decided to retake my exams-again-but this time at a much better college, and since then, I've been taught better, I've been getting high grades, and I have friends! And 2004 was the year that I joined DA

My wonderful friends! ]]> ~Neopatra-Isis http://Neopatra-Isis.deviantart.com/journal/4111964/ http://Neopatra-Isis.deviantart.com/journal/4111964/ Mon, 20 Dec 2004 14:47:52 PST Back in October/November last year I made my first Neopatra doll, which combined my two obsessions of Egypt and Matrix, and had Egyptian hieroglyphics as Matrix code. it seems I'm not the only one who thinks they look cool as matrix code! it must be some freaky coincidence that someone else thought on the same wavelength as me...and I even saw a documentary which had hieroglyphs spilling down the screen in a Matrix stylee...but even so, watch out for my DevID, which has Neopatra herself with Matrixglyphics as a background, and she seriously kicks asp (geddit?)

Check out my new doll project-one I hope to complete...I'm trying to make all the Egyptian gods in doll portrait form. I'll have to do the animal headed gods in human form, so if you're an Anubis fangirl I'm afraid to say my Anubis portrait will not be totally jackal headed-drawing jackal heads in front view is haaaard...

I'm going on a random fav-ing spree...so I'll be stocking up my favourites gallery with lots of shtuffage.
