I gotta admit, I thought I was rusty, but I'm really starting to pick up, and I'm impressed. I think you all will be too when I start posting my new works.

Oh...you know what I'm really stoked to do? A jungle book fanart. I just have to do one before I die. I'm going to watch the movie this weekend. ^.^

Do you ever go so long without working on your art, that it feels like you forgot how to do it? I tried to draw something the other day and it turned into a big heap!
Maybe art isn't for me anymore.

I really want some Teddy Grahams or chocolate chip cookies. =x

Well it's come to my attention that some of my art watchers think my artwork is too similar to Amano's style. Of course it is; Amano is one of my favorite artists! But the fact is that, it's not right to use someone else's style. I have other favorite artists besides the mighty Amano, and I actually think that my art really resembles their styles as well. Unfortunately, Amano is just so popular, that the influence in my art is hard to miss if you're one of his fans. I'm not saying that my art is Amano status; in fact I think it's far from it; amateur at that. I actually think that people are quite nuts when they say I paint like him; you nuts! But I do think that a lot of people say that just to be nice...I'm flattered but also concerned that people think I impersonate his style.



The History of my Art

The sad truth is that I'm just too rusty at what I do. Art has never been a priority in my life; it's a time passing hobby that I've had for the last few years. I did the majority of the artwork that's in my gallery between the time that I was 15-17 years old. Somewhere around 2 years ago, I set my brushes down, and never really got around to painting again. I've only made about 3 paintings in the last year.



Defining my style in the Upcoming Year

I've decided to completely renew my art studio. I recently bought a large collection of Watercolors to go with my old ones (that are still in prime condition). And this Christmas, I'm adding a new material to my inventory: India Ink. I have my eye set on a 24 piece set, and it looks absolutely inspirational. I'm getting some new painting blocks, ink pens, masking fluid (which I've never worked with), and...even glitter. ^.^
I'm planning on working on a few different tutorials as I explore these new materials, since DA simply doesn't have enough motivational tutorials lying around. Next year will be about finding my style, whether my art resembles famous artists like Amano or not, when I find my style, I'll stick to it. =]

+ Color variety Pigma Micron fabric tip ink pens (preferably size .005) or similar
+ Cold press (preferably 300lb) watercolor block
+ Masking fluid (Winsor & Newton brand)
+ India ink (bottled)

I really want to better my art. I'm looking at my DeviantArt page right now, and I only have a few watchers. I think I only have 40 people who have favorited my artwork. I think that my art looks like chicken scratch compared to a lot of other DA users. =S
I know that if I had more patience (lord knows what happened to it all), I could come up with wayyy better material than I've ever done. And for some reason, I've become incredibly impatient lately when it comes to art. <__<
I need to find the inspiration. <__<

I'm not sure what my next piece will be. There's an upcoming Final Fantasy art competition at one of my favorite forums, AND I really want to work on designing some characters for my (hopefully soon-to-be) BOOK, once I'm done giving them personalities.
