Despite the fact that I haven't done shit in months, dA is still my homepage, so I visit at least once a day and clear out my inbox and all that.

I'm in school at SVA (School of Visual Arts) in NYC, so I'm actively doing work. Just right now it's learning stuff so none of it is really presentable yet.

I have Maya now and I'm learning animation, I have no clue how to do any abstract modeling or anything like I did in Cinema 4D. If anyone else uses Maya or knows good tutorials or anything that'd be sick, I miss doing abstract shit

I did some more Illustrator in my imaging class and realized I really don't like it. My heart lies with Photoshop. I have CS4 production premium, I'm ready to get into it and make badass stuff, when I feel like I have time. Still adjusting to college and living in the city etc.

NYC kicks ass by the way. I do miss home (which is only 2 hours away tops) but everything is here. Everything.

So that's it. I'm procrastinating from art history reading right now, so I figured why not make a journal entry. Haven't done that in almost a year and a half. Thought it'd be cute. Reply if you're cool. Later.

School is finally over, which almost single-handedly kept me from getting much accomplished as far as art. So I'm gonna try getting back into the groove again, I have a couple pieces I still never finished that I'm gonna look back on, and see about updating my website as well.

Also, I've been looking out for my 10,000th pageview but I missed it by 6. Anyway, congrats to me, I'm pretty happy about that.

This will also be a summer for music for me. Gonna try getting a band started, and work on my music duo with Nathan Rich (~nrich). We're planning on putting out our second album under the name The Air Castles, so I got a lot of demos to work out.

UNTIL THEN. Maybe I'll remember to update this and not have a 10 month gap like this last one.

Yeah so those two photos.. took a couple weeks ago with my dad's camera. And.. that's about it for a while, you know, nothing special. Just some quick snapshots as we were walking and driving and such, listening to some DMB Red Rocks '95, good stuff.

I won't really be focusing on art for a while as I've said before, my focus is still finishing up my site (which is lookin' sexay by the way, at least by my standards, which aren't very high). Uhh.. music too, got an album to work on. Psh, album. Bit much for some electronic music. But I like it, and that's all that matters. Got a great song that's stealing this one, really ambient, my favorite.

Enough rambling. But it's hard to help, it's 10 minutes 'til midnight and I just had a cup of tea. Smart.

I was in the hospital since monday night, I went for chest pains and later found out I had a collapsed lung, so I had to have a chest tube and suction for the duration to reinflate the lung, as well as a surgery and stuff. So I'm back home, still feel like crap and disabled for a while, no strenuous activity for a month. This whole thing was unexpected and sucks. But, just wanted to let everyone know where I've been.

Not too much else going on... school has been out since the 21st, expect more art from me (yay!)

Also, I asked for Illustrator for my birthday in July. If I end up getting it, I'll be posting vectors of illustrations and such I'll undoubtedly be working on this summer. Like a young ~SniperJrd once said, I need to get out of my 3D abstract comfort zone and try some vector.

What else what else.. I've been trying to get into some art groups, but so far it seems as though I'm not yet ready, but I have quite a bit of potential. Sounds about right, I'm still not completely satisfied with my stuff. My style is very different from trendy styles and I can't for the life of me figure out their brushing methods and such.. which if I can work (good) brushing into my art it should be a lot better. I'm trying to get away from stocks for the most part. Good luck to me.

My longest render yet, at a little over 4 hours. The day I made it I subconsciously started rendering it. 46 minutes in and it wasn't even quarter of the way done, so I said screw it, and started it the next day. Then it decided to zoom in, so I didn't get all of the render in that I wanted, AND the material's color didn't show, so I was pretty pissed. But, I managed to make something out of what I had and voila.

In other news.. there was a fire drill in school today. But we just had one yesterday? Turns out today's wasn't a drill. 2 pizza boxes in the kitchen caught on fire. A firetruck came and put it out, etc. But meanwhile we got to stand out in the cold for at least 20 minutes. I swear it wasn't that cold this morning, but the breeze was blowing and all I had was a T-shirt, so it sucked. Though I did get out of taking a quiz that I was already failing by a long shot in spanish. That was the highlight of my day, and week for that matter. This week was long and boring.

It's nice to get away from 2-4 hour render times every once in a while. This one took only a few minutes. Just messing around, wanted some pink in there so.. yup.

So that's a good 1-2 hours rendering each, and about an 45 mins total modeling them, so we're looking at 4-5 hours on those.

I'm also working on a short comic series, which I may or may not post on dA.

I start school again tomorrow, and my teachers like slamming me with work after vacations, so I'm getting stuff done now to get it out of the way.

Got one of them week subscriptions again. I realize now how much I miss the features, especially bigger thumbnails, more of them per page, and thumbnails/comment previews in the message center. If I could buy myself a year sub I would.

Or I could win Cohesion, and I doubt that'll happen with all the people that still need to enter.

I do think Grime is my best in a while, but still not as good as WaterCreature, which I compare my new stuff to, it being my best received work. I'd rather compete with myself than someone else. This thing got like 7 favs in 20 minutes, so it might make it up there.

Not much happening. I'm becoming uninspired. I have good ideas, and once I get into C4D or PS, they disappear. I can't get anything to work. So I've just been winging it and creating whatever, and that's been the best I can do for now.

What else.. uhh, the SSD artgroup kicks ass, new pack out sometime within the next month or two. We be working hard.
