Animatus is an exhibition which allows to see the skeletons of famous Looney Tunes characters such as Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Wile E Coyote and Road Runner. Its not only the skeletons that are on show, but also detailed drawings on the skeletons of various characters. The show is created by Hyungkoo Lee who says the Animatus series started with the “intention to analyze anatomical structures and physical forms of animation characters, within the hypothesis to visualize their possible anatomical foundation.” Lee constructs the skeletons using a hybrid mix of real animal bones and synthetic materials.

District 9: A big surprise, no doubt the best sci-fi of this year. I must confess that when I saw the first trailer I thought it was no big thing. The second trailer changed my mind, and now that I watched the movie I can say and repeat, is an excellent movie! [link]

B13 Ultimatum: I loved the first movie (Banlieue 13), an excellent French production about a dangerous neighborhood surrounded by a wall in Paris of a next future. Spectacular le Parkour action scenes with the biggest name of this sport, David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli also, which is the "Jackie Chan French". I did not know there was already a sequel. A good adventure, especially for the actress Elodie Yung as the sexy and dangerous Tao. [link]

GI Joes: Not was a perfect adaptation, but at least it's fun ... I mean, there are so many absurdities made with CGI that the movie manages to be just that: fun. It should not be taken seriously.

Angel & Demons: A big disappointment, more than Transformers 2. The book is one of the best stories I ever read, with action and mystery in equal measure. The movie eliminates the whole essence of the original book, showing a poor history and uninteresting. The DaVinci Code was not a perfect fit, but was much better.

It is true that many scenes are done in CGI to be an impressive scene, but most of the animation of the characters is done by human hands, and that is what makes them unique. Since the movies came in CGI, the animation in 2d actually became more rare ... and frankly I wish it were not so. The CGI films are great, true, but they can share space with the movies 2d.

Eu me lembro que quando Toy Story chegou aos cinemas eu li em algum lugar que aquele filme era o começo do fim para os filmes de animação em 2d. E Realmente desde então nós vimos uma verdadeira onde de produções em 3d, animações feitas com CGI. Não apenas as novas produções da Pixar, mas de outros estúdios também. Todos esses filmes possuem um visual incrível, repleto de texturas e detalhes quase reais... mas nem todos possuem uma boa história, ou simplesmente aquilo que eu chamo de "magia", aquilo que faz uma história acontecer e a torna inesquecível.
Para mim, um filme feito em 2d possui uma magia única. É verdade que muitas cenas são feitas em CGI para que sejam impressionantes, mas a maior parte da animação dos personagens é feito por mãos humanas, e é isso que as tornam únicas. Desde que os filmes em CGI chegaram, as animações em 2d realmente se tornaram mais raras... e francamente eu gostaria que não fosse assim. Os filmes CGI são ótimos, é verdade, mas eles podem dividir espaço com os filmes 2d.

I love the X Files, I discovered this series from the beginning and it was love at first sight. A TV series to talk about paranormal topics in a realistic view? How could I resist that? For years I watched the greatest possible number of chapters, but when I was living in the mountains in a region where television is a luxury, I stopped watching the last two seasons. Recently I am having the opportunity to review the series, and best, I'm watching all the episodes that I had never seen. All chapters are now available on DVD here in Brazil.
It was a surprise to me how the X Files have changed. The Lone Gunmen are dead. Agent Mulder finally discovered the truth, but he needed to leave the FBI. The agent John Dogget replaced him and the agent Reyes later replaced the agent Scully. Dogget and Reyes are not Mulder and Scully, but they proved deserve to work in X Files. Unfortunately, as seen in the last chapter, the files disappeared ... and in the latest movie this fact is not mentioned. I think the series needs to give more some answers to the fans, and if it is not possible with one more season at least one more movie. What do you think?

Ah, a question: to you which is the unforgettable episode? There were many excellent episodes - and I love most the episodes with the "monster of the week" - but the story that I can not forget is "Shapes", when Mulder and Scully investigate a werewolf.

Os Arquivos X estão mortos?

Eu adoro Arquivo X. Eu descobri esta série desde o princíio e foi paixão à primeira vista. Uma série de tv que fala de de temas paranormais de uma forma realista? Como eu poderia resistir a isso? Durante anos eu assisti o maior número possível de capítulos, mas quando eu fui morar nas montanhas, em uma região onde televisão é um luxo, eu deixei de assistir as duas últimas temporadas. E como eu senti falta disso. Recentemente eu estou tendo a oportunidade de rever a série, e melhor, eu estou assistindo a todos os episódios que eu nunca tinha assistido. Todos os capítulos agora estão disponíveis em DVD.
Foi uma surpresa para mim descobrir como os Arquivos X mudaram. Os Pistoleiros Solitários morreram. O agente Mulder finalmente descobriu a verdade, mas para isso ele precisou sair do FBI. O agente John Dogget o substituiu, assim como a agente Reyes mais tarde substituiu a agente Scully. Dogget e Reyes não são Mulder e Scully, mas eles provaram que são dignos de trabalhar nos Arquivos X. Infelizmente, conforme visto no último capítulo, os arquivos desapareceram... e no mais recente filme esse fato não é mencionado. Eu acredito que a série ainda precisa dar algumas respostas aos fãs, e se isso não é possívem com mais uma season, pelo menos com mais um filme. O que vocês acham?

Ah, uma pergunta: para você queal é o episódio inesquecível? Houveram muitos episódios excelentes -- e eu gosto mais dos episódios com "o monstro da semana" -- mas a história que eu não consigo esquecer é "A Besta Humana", quando Mulder e Scully investigam um lobisomem.

I liked what I saw and tried on all the episodes. Contrary to what I thought at the beginning, the story of Last Airbender not is silly sory... is really excellent! The series is fun, exciting, with great moments of action. Throughout history we see the characters grow while learning great lessons of friendship, love, honor and responsibility. In my view, is the best cartoon since Samurai Jack.

Or the fact it was a "hero" who planned and executed an idea so crazy? Maybe... but I personally believe that the idea would not work. I mean, it's true that so great tragedy can unite all people... but only for a time, not forever. People only come together when the danger is greater than can face alone. After the threat of danger is away, each one starts to go after their own interests, and the cycle restart. New conflicts arise... and it remains what it has always been. This is part of human nature ... indeed part of the universe: the eternal conflict of opposing forces.
In the long term, the Ozymandias plan would fail. Sooner or later, people would realize that there has never been alien invasion and that the genocide was the work of another human being, under the old excuse of making peace through violence.
I think this idea of Watchmen does not surprise me either because I just read the book Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown, which has a very similar idea: a man full of "good intentions" which see in its principles a good excuse for committing unforgivable crimes. In both cases, my thinking is the same: allow an idiot to have much power, and soon he will commit a great foolishness. The ideal of world peace is a seductive idea, and many people wish this, but it is an impossible ideal. The Life can't exist without conflict, and any attempt to change this fact is destined to failure. This reminds me of an episode of X File, where the agent Fox Mulder asked the world peace to a genius lamp: the genius did all the people of the world disappear, because that would be the only way to have peace...

Ps: I still think The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller as the best comic of all times.

In all three movies, there are several situations where SpiderMan should have felt the danger ... and nothing! Not to mention the numerous wasted occasions where Spidey could have told good jokes. Finally, considering all the failures of the trilogy, I think the best would be to restart the franchise in the movies Spider-Man. New director, new actors, stories better and more careful, more faithful to the comics... as the new cartoon The Spectacular SpiderMan be achieved. That would be very good... after all it worked for the Incredible Hulk.

In this sense, many of the teachings of Jesus Christ (I just call him as Chris) seems good. In fact, very good. I have admiration for the figure of the heroes, you know, and under certain point of view, Cris was a hero in his time, and still is today for many people. He was everywhere helping people without expecting rewards, just the promise of each to be a better person and do good to your neighbor. I think it is admirable and, why not say, laudable. And certainly, their sacrifice on the cross was the most definitive proof of their heroism, because despite he suffering the worst of our species, he still wanted our well. Until nowadays this sacrifice is felt, and in fact was so important that the split in human history before and after his birth.
So to all those who care, to all men of good heart and with hope in the soul, I would like to say Merry Christmas!


Take this opportunity, I would also like to thank all those who have sought for my services as artist. Thanks to you and your payment, I could buy a new PC and much better to continue doing what I most like to do ... create images of dream, the best drawings my mind and my hands are capable of producing. Finally, looking back, I can say that this year that is ending was not exceptional, but was rather a good year for me, was better than 2007. I'm disappointed with some people I thought were my friends, and certainly I lost many fans when I decided to quit my fetish gallery, but no matter. After all, it was a good year and I can not complain. It is against my policy claim, I think you better do something than just complain.

E então mais um ano está terminando, e como dizia John Lennon, "Então é Natal". Eu realmente adoro esta éoca do ano. Nós não temos neve aqui no Brazil, na verdade nós comemoramos o Natal em pleno verão, mas não importa. O que conta é a data.
Apesar de eu não seguir nenhuma religião, eu tenho respeito pela fé das pessoas, e sei reconhecer quando um ou outro ensinamento religioso é bom. Neste sentido, muitos dos ensinamentos de Jesus Cristo (eu o chamo apenas de Cris) me parece bons. De fato, muito bons. Eu tenho admiração pela figura do heróis, vocês sabem, e sob certo ponto de vista, Cris foi um herói em seu tempo, e ainda é hoje em dia para muita gente. Ele ia por toda parte ajudando as pessoas sem esperar recompensas, apenas a promessa de cada um em ser um pessoa melhor e fazer o bem para o seu próximo. Eu acho isso admirável e, por que não dizer, louvável. E sem dúvida, seu sacrifício máximo na cruz foi a prova definitiva de seu heroísmo, pois mesmo sofrendo o pior de nossa espécie, ele ainda queria o nosso bem. Até os dias de hoje esse sacrifício é sentido, e de fato foi tão importante que dividiu a história humana em antes e depois de seu nascimento.
Então, a todos os que se importam, a todos os homens de bem no coração e esperança na alma, eu gostaria de dizer Feliz Natal!

Among the rumors I heard, the BrundleFly creature this time would be generated by CGI effects, which among other things to become more agile and do something not seen in previous films... fly! Yes, the new BrundleFly have wings. But I wonder if this would be a good thing. The Fly is an excellent terror movie because of the effects of makeup and animatronics, which makes the scenes much more real. The CGI technology is great to give life to impossible creatures like dragons, dinosaurs and aliens, but if the intention is to scare, I think nothing beats the old FX effects. Well, let's wait and see what happens...

A Mosca é com certeza um dos filmes mais nojentos e asquerosos que eu já vi, mas eu devo dizer... também é um dos meus favoritos. Na verdade, esta foi a história que revolucionou o meu modo de ver a propria vida. Eu ainda era um garoto quando eu assisti ao filme pela primeira vez, de noite, e é claro que depois eu não consegui dormir em paz. Contudo, na manhã seguinte o horror havia se transformado em extrema curiosidade: Como o teletransporte funciona? Por que aquele cientista legal se transformou numa criatura tão nojenta depois de ser misturado a uma mosca? O que é nível genético molecular? Movido pela curiosidade, eu fui atrás das respostas... mas nem minhas irmãs, nem meus pais, nem mesmo meus professores da escola souberam me dar uma boa resposta. Mas eu não desisti, e mergulhei nos livros. Eu já gostava muito de ciências, então não foi muito difícil para mim assimilar novos conhecimentos sobre biologia, genética e física. Então eu consegui minhas respostas e depois de algum tempo eu criei minhas proprias teorias sobre esse tema. De fato, a história de Sci-Fi que eu estou escrevendo aborda o tema da fusão genética entre espécies distintas... e até mesmo entre matéria viva e matéria inanimada!
Recentemente eu ouvi dizer que há planos para um remake de A Mosca, possivelmente com Nicholas Cage como Seth Brundle. Entre os boatos que eu ouvi, a criatura BrundleFly desta vez seria gerada por efeitos CGI, o que entre outras coisas a tornaria mais ágil e faria algo não visto nos filmes anteriores... voar! Sim, a nova BrundleFly teria asas. Mas eu me pergunto se isso seria uma boa coisa. A Mosca é um excelente filme de terror por causa dos efeitos de maquiagem e animatronics, que tornam as cenas muito mais reais. A tecnologia CGI é ótima para dar vida a criaturas impossíveis como dragões e aliens, mas se a intenção é assustar, eu acho que nada supera os velhos efeitos FX. Bem, vamos esperar para ver o que acontece...

The story was consistent, and perhaps only wrong has doing very timid action scenes considering the potential of the Hulk. The story was more focused on the relationship of Bruce Banner with his father. The Hulk done with CGI technology is awesome, a true green and strong giant. I loved seeing Hulk smashing tanks and jumping through the desert. And of course I love the ability to display several tables in the same scene, creating the impression of a comics. Really an excellent production.
The new movie with Edward Norton was more faithful to the comics and also the TV series stars by Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. It also has an excellent story, this time concentrated in the search for a cure by Bruce Banner and the General Ross tries to turn the Hulk into a weapon. The scenes of action are much more intense, furious, worthy of an angry Hulk... which also had a brutal opponent: the Abomination. And certainly was fun to see the Hulk do Le Parkour on the rooftops of New York. I just don't like much of the look of the Hulk... he was not so big, its green color was too dark...
But finally, I am not able to say that movie is better than another. Both are excellent, and deserve a place in my collection of DVDs.

Ok, eu acabei de assitir ao novo filme do Incrível Hulk estrelado por Edward Norton, e é claro, eu não pude deixar de comparar com o filme estrelado por Eric Bana. Os dois filmes, apesar de terem sido feitos pela Universal Pictures, são versões diferentes do mesmo personagem. Eu ouvi dizer que o primeiro filme recebeu muitas críticas negativas, razão pela qual decidiram fazer uma versão totalmente nova, e embora o resultado tenha sido impressionante, eu pergunto: o filme com Eric bana foi realmente ruim? Eu penso que não.
Hulk, com direção de Ang Lee, foi um filme muito bom na minha modesta opinião. A história era coerente, e talvez só tenha errado por fazer cenas de ação muito tímidas considerando o potencial do Hulk. A história estava mais concentrada na relação de Bruce Banner com seu pai. O Hulk feito com tecnologia CGI é impressionante, um verdadeiro gigante verde com poder à altura. Eu adorei vê-lo esmagando tanques e saltando através do deserto. E com certeza eu adorei o recurso de mostrar vários quadros numa mesma cena, criando a sensação de uma história em quadrinhos. Realmente uma excelente produção.
O novo filme com Edward Norton foi mais fiel aos quadrinhos e também à série de tv estrelada por Bill Bixby e Lou Ferrigno. Também possui uma excelente história, desta vez concentrada na busca de Bruce banner por uma cura enquanto o General Ross tenta transformar o Hulk numa arma. As cenas de ação são muito mais intensas, dignas do furioso Hulk... que teve também um oponente brutal: a Abominação. E sem dúvida foi divertido ver o Hulk fazer Le parkour sobre os telhados de Nova Iorque. Eu só não gostei muito do visual do novo filme... o Hulk não era tão grande, sua cor verde era muito escura...
Mas enfim, eu não sou capaz de dizer que um filme seja melhor do que o outro. Ambos são excelentes, e merecem um lugar na minha coleção de DVDs.
