Which is the reason I haven't submitted anything of late. I've been attempting to advance my own skills into more useful areas, mainly digital painting.

Now, I really do want to this and I've put quite a bit of work into trying to get somewhere with it. But, I haven't gotten anywhere really. Actually, I've gotten nowhere :/

I've looked at some tutorials, but most discuss general techniques, such as blending and what not. None of them were that thorough either, I never got enough information to get much of anywhere, as I said before.

My other real issue, is the fact that my general art skills when it comes to drawing are limited in themselves. I never drew/painted much, nor seriously. Although, I always stick to the mindset that you can learn what you do not know, as long as you're willing. I have tried digging for information, but I haven't been able to find much that was useful.

I ask anyone who happens to read this to please link any good sites that discuss techniques to draw/paint environments and humans. As well as lighting, color theory, and flow. Also, those discussing digital painting in itself. If it matters, I am particularly interested in more realistic painting, not ultra-realism though. As for environments, I would like to learn the art of painting science fiction landscapes, the science fiction subject also goes for the humans.

Thank you for the help,

- Eric

But, alive am I!

I'll be uploading a few new deviations, just haven't been busy lately. Although, of course, there's a few things I wanted to touch on:

The recent Pirate Bay.org trial. It's amazing they actually won the case, shoddy evidence, even shoddier evidence brought in in the middle of the trial. They did it though, here's some more info so you can pour over it yourself: [link]

I recently picked up a crap-load of games, FarCry 2, Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, H.A.W.X., Bioshock, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, EVE online, blah blah blah. Either way, I planned on a lot of reviews, and I still do, I just plan on beating the game first . On that note, it may be a bit before I get any real reviews up (except Mass Effect, almost got it done).

Also, the new Star Trek movie, say the review from IGN for the UK version. 3.5/5, they said the most off was for the action scenes as they were dull while the characters were well developed and very much like their TOS counterparts.

On EVE Online, look me up as Jordaniel Torey if you happen to play.

Thank You,

- Eric

PS.

Remember, Mommy,
I'm off to get a commie,
So send me a salami,
And try to smile somehow.
I'll look for you when the war is over,
An hour and a half from now!

Some of my friends nagged me into coming back to WoW, I finally fell in and resubbed for one month. Think maybe I was wrong, maybe the game can be fun. Yeah... right.

Start off with the obvious, the graphics. For being four years old it's really not too bad. I can't complain too much, I mean, I can't expect everything game to be really pretty. I can tell the objects from each other and the bright colors make it easy to see. Although my issue with the graphics/visuals is the fact that on my rig (2.4 quad core proc, 8600GT OCed, 6GB DDR2 800 RAM), it still manages to be laggy. This same rig can run LOTRO at full settings, it can run Crysis at High and Fallout 3 at high. The WoW engine needs to be updated to take advantage of multi-core procs and soon. There's no excuse for this.

Another thing that erks me is how laggy these servers are. I play on a US West server (I live in the Western US) and I still get bad lag at times. I played the US East server of Tabula Rasa with no lag. I can play the European servers of Priston Tale 2 (an FTP game still in Closed Beta mind you) with no lag. There's no excuse for a company that claims to have 11 million active subscribers paying 15 dollars a month, plus the fact you have to buy The Burning Crusade to play Wrath of the Lich King, and they claim they've sold 4 million copies of WoTLK. So... 365,000,000 that would 365 million dollars taken in this month. The equation is here:

15*11,000,000 = 165,000,000 = 20+30*4,000,000 = 200,000,000 = 165,000,000 + 200,000,000 = 365,000,000

It is a lot of money. With all this money, they should be able to do the following things:

- Improve the engine to work with multi-core procs
- Improve the servers
- Get some moderators to stop the idiots in Trade
- Make some free patches that do more than fix a bug and nerf a class.

But they don't. The game continues to have laggy servers, and an engine lacking improvement. What does this tell me? The dev team doesn't give a crap. There's no excuse for it, none at all.

Moving on, the sound. It's bah at best. Grunts, whacks, occasional decent music track. Voice-over every now and then (on seemingly random NPCs). Nothing special at all. Nothing horrible.

The gameplay, the meat of the game obviously. I'll break this up since there's a lot of crap (no really, crap) to go over.

Combat, it's slow. Not that the spell recharge times aren't way too fast, but the combat is just damned slow. The combat is subtly turn-based. And the turns take FOREVER. At least when trying to pass for real-time. I shouldn't be left waiting after my opponent's attack animation is over and I receive damage. To be fair there shouldn't be turns at all. But if there are, make them quick. Like LOTRO, it has turns but it made them fairly quick. By the time my opponents animation is done and I get damage it's my turn, no waiting.

Crafting, not bad really, but most of what you craft is rubbish and easily beaten by anything from a dungeon run, which doesn't take long and isn't hard. There's no customization to what you craft either. Apart from tinkerers whose gear can't be looted easily, there's no point to crafting.

Fishing/Activities, again, nearly worthless. You loot a ton of food. The only reason to fish is to feed your pet. The first aid is worthwhile, but that's really about it.

PvP, it's all gear based with little skill involved. It's that easy. Twinks WILL win unless they're total idiots or you have numbers/back-up. Nation vs. Nation is stupidly all consensual. Kind of takes out the whole "Two nations at war" feel that is the point of NvN PvP.

Questing, this where the meat of the game is supposed to lie. But there's no/little/crappy story anywhere. Quest chains are generic at best. At worst they're just crappy writing with bad attempts at humor. The only DECENT story arc is that of the Death Knight, which was just copied and pasted from Warcraft III. I know it's based on Warcraft, but we don't want to go through the same story again.

Balance, actually, the balance between classes is good. I must give a little kudos there.

Content, it's quantity over quality. Lots of land made of the same tiles with little difference in the way things look. Get's boring quick. Plus there's no bonuses or rewards for adventuring.

Community, it sucks. It's horrible. Pathetic. Full of idiot teenagers and total asses. I don't care if only the retards talk in Trade and on public chat, they're the ones I gotta listen to and I'm not blocking them all or a whole channel. Get mods. And tons of gold sellers.

Overall, lackluster at best. Horrible at worst. 3.5/10

___________________________________________________

City of Heroes:

Here's a game by Cryptic Studios, makers of the coming Star Trek Online and Champions Online.
I must digress, Fallout 3 is tip of awesome. It's not only Awesome with a capital A but AWESOME with every capitalized. Total freedom.. pretty much. If if exists, you can shoot it. If it breathes or runs with gears, you can kill it (women and children included, no I haven't gone off killing any children... yet... Muwahahah >). The graphics are stunning although nowadays that is to be expected. The combat is spectacular, engrossing and very much Fallout.

The story has a nice tie-in ending for Fallout 1 fans. And the story, dialogue and characters are very much in the Fallout niche. All in all, it is Fallout. Fallout perfectly brought into the now. So in summary I have two words. Buy it.

Now, Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria, the first, and HUGE, expansion for the popular MMORPG. I already enjoyed the game but the new classes, Rune Keeper and Warden, are awesome. The Warden is very fast paced and does both ranged and melee damage off the bat. They also have a cool Gambit system. Which is kind of a combo, you add different styles of moves together to make a gambit which is a stronger move or buff.

I have yet to try the Rune Keeper.

Although I have not explored it (not high enough) the new area is huge and very beautiful I've heard. And the Legendary Weapons are simply amazing. If you plan on start LoTRO just pick up the Mines of Moria Complete Pack for 40 bucks. Of course, if you want I have some 14 day free trials to hand out, just ask and I'll give you a key. You'll have to download the client from lotro.com though. It's about 7.70GB, with a pretty large patch.

That's all,

Good night

- Eric

Yay, research and citation.

I take it most of us have seen the newest Family Guy episode, I Dream of Jesus. The one where Peter sings Surfin' Bird (the bird, the bird, the bird is the word. Oh the bird bird bird the bird is the word). Yeah, well someone posted a clip on YouTube, 2:56 long. I was watching most of today, very nice clip, high quality good color, good sound. Looked back at it this evening and it was removed due to "Copyright infringement" on Fox.

Little thing Fox, these people, called fans, line to post things like this. The things that are posted will then draw people to your show and help you. But when you pull asinine stunts like this (by the way, that YouTube video makes no profits, there wasn't anything ad related on that guys page or the video) you only hurt yourself.

As if that weren't enough (I actually don't think it is) let me point out this bit of genius in the Fox office,

[link]

[link]

It's old yes, but the reporter/author went on air with evidence of "Graphic sex scenes" from Mass Effect. This evidence? Something someone told her before the show starter. That was it, one little report from someone. What does Mass Effect really have you ask? No nudity, simple a profile/side view like you always see on TV.

And yes, gamers being the awesome breed of superhuman we are, did punish here for this little idiotic stunt. On the article it notes that at one point the Amazon page for her new book had 412 one star ratings out of 472 ratings total. As the article quotes from one of the reviews,

"I know all about this book but have never fully read it. Why? Due to the overwhelming backlash, I have no choice but to agree with the 1 star ratings. The rumors are rampant that this book was poorly written and poorly researched. So without verifying the contents myself - I give it a 1 star. Good thing video games aren't judged in this manner - whew!!!"

Gotta love it eh.

As of now the Amazon page has 78 1 star reviews out of 91. After Amazon.com removed the ones that weren't really reviews. Which means, yes, she does suck at writing.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Okay, I'm tired of it. No, not every MMORPG is a frakking copy of WoW.

World of Warcraft was released in 2004, one year after Finaly Fantasy XI and a good number of years after EverQuest. Now, FFXI was a pretty popular MMORPG, sharing space with EverQuest. World of Warcraft is about as close as you can get to as a carbon copy of EQ plus a few of FFXI features.

Sadly, this is never thought of. Instead, we are shoved in the face games that have supposedly copied WoW.

"Looky! Looky! This game has Mana, it copied from WoW!"

"Looky! Looky! It's WARhammer! It copied it's name from WoW!"

"Looky! Looky! This game has humans! It copied from WoW!"

It's really just pathetic now.

Example 1 --> This article by MMOSITE.com [link] cites that because Perfect World uses a skill tree, it's a WoW copy. Perfect is also based on Chinese myth, has realistic graphics, allows you to fly at any time, and has a very robust creation system. It's nothing like WoW.

Example 2: "All the popular MMORPGS like FFXI and EQ copied form Wow!!!" You're just a dickweed, shut up. Yes, I have heard people say that (the whole FFXI and EQ thing).

What I'm trying to say is that World of Warcraft (whenever I type that may hand starts hurting and my back gets really cold) did not invent the MMORPG nor did it do anything original. It simply made an easily playable game. I know it's the market standard (very sad when the market standard MMORPG doesn't even have a housing system) and that games will be compared to it. I do it myself, it's the way things work. But you can't say "It copied Mana from WoW. It copied War from WoW's title. It looks just a little bit like WoW in that one pixel." Each game is a new game experience (in most cases). So, stop saying games copied other games. Please.

Okay, to start out and get everyone straight, this is not a review. It is much more of a freehand comparison of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning to World of Warcraft, and a basic outline of what Warhammer Online (WAR) is and is not.

WAR is not:

- World of Warcraft
- A World of Warcraft clone
- Play anything like World of Warcraft
- A solo game (Open parties, public quests and the such)

WAR is:

- A game with GREAT central, and heavy PvP features right from level (or rank as they call it) 1.
- A game where you can level up just from PvP, since it gives experience.
- A game that has a realistic tone to everything.
- A great MMORPG that may end up replacing and killing World of Warcraft.

A few of WARs basic features:

- The ability to level and gain Experience from instanced and non-instanced PvP
- A heavy focus of PvP.
- Multiple classes and races to chose from, each with different stats and entirely different play-styles.
- An innovative combat system for some classes. Take the High Elf Swordsman for example, say I want to a move called Heavenly Spin (I don't believe it actually exists) first to execute this move I must be in "Perfect Balance" to achieve this I must first do a basic skill to bring myself to "Improved Balance" then I must perform a medium level skill to bring myself to "Perfect Balance" then I am free to perform the strong "Perfect Balance" move. There are many combinations to climb the ladder, some more effective than others. It really depends of the situation.
- A heavy focus on grouping including; Open Groups, Public Quests, and RvR (realm vs realm) PvP.

A full review shall come later once I break level... 20?

Yay, time for game reviews. Today I plan on reviewing the following:

Frontlines: Fuel of War

And to start, Frontlines: Fuel of War, or FFOW. Frontlines was created by Kaos Studios, formally Trauma Studios, developers of the Desert Combat modification for Battlefield 1942. The modification transformed the World War II shooter, 1942, into a modern combat setting. The mod was acclaimed for the sheer quality and effort put into it. Frontlines was the team's first profitable project, and I must say, it is excellent.

Frontlines is probably best explained as the consensual, planned, and prepared for love child of Battlfield and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. Now the Kaos Studios have spent their fair share of time with the Battlefield series, creating the highly succesful and loved Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942, even providing the team input on Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Even so, Frontlines is an offering I wouldn't expect to come from a team of mod makers, it's a game that I would, in fact, expect to see be created by a very experienced studio such as DICE (who made and makes the Battlefield series) or Epic Games (Unreal Tournament III, and Gears of War).

Onto the game! I shall be reviewing only the MULTIPLAYER gameplay, since everyone knows the singleplayer story/campaign mode of most first person shooters is a joke (save Crysis, Deus Ex, Halo and a few others [being I think Gears of War was third person was it not?]). Although I did play a bit of this one, story's not bad but it's really just linear bot fights. So, Multiplayer.

As to the offering of vehicles, so far I have counted 6 or 7 drivable vehicles per side. As for the weapons, there's 5-6 classes, each get a special primary firearm and a handgun (always the same per side) so there's about 14 firearms, 7 per side. Then they offer the role system, there's Drone which grants you a flying or driving drone. The Drone is somewhat like an RC Car with radar, explosives and then there's one with a minigun and one with mortars. There is also an Air role where you allowed to call in air strikes, the EMP role gives you control of EMP devices to disable vehicles and the Ground Support roles lets you repair vehicles.

The gameplay itself is fairly average for a FPS game, click, shoot, kill, repeat. Each primary weapon has an ironsight although the pistol lacks one. Using V you can perform a melee attack and you have near unlimited sprint. But why I lack the game so much is the sense of action, the way explosions seem to always be happening. Part of this may be because the helicopters can shoot 5 missiles in less than a second and be done reloading in 2 or 3 seconds. Or that tanks are somewhat inaccurate so you nearly recreates that scene from IronMan every now and then.

Another cool thing is the fact that certain elements of the environment are destructible, mainly concrete barricades and light metal structures. Now no one really hides behind these, they use buildings, but that doesn't take the fun out of running over barricades with a tank. It makes the tank feel... tankier...

I guess that there's not much to say about the gameplay, it's Battlefield 2 in GRAWs environment. Except with more detail (like I said, arms in the vehicle and a dynamic minimap and speed-guage also in the vehicle), and way, way more realistic action.

In the end I highly recommend the game to any fan of Battlefield.

The lack of deviations is due mostly to the horrendous quality of what I'm churning out. It all looks... horrible. I'm trying to get something halfway decent though. They say you're your worst critic, I must agree.

In other news, nothing really. Boring stuff, new nVIDIA drivers that incorporate the PhysX code since they bought out Aeiga and now game that utilized PhysX run way faster.

My computer fries omelets due to a 120 degree Celsius (like.. 214 Fahrenheit?) GPU Core Temperature. By using one of those little 10" desk fans and removing the case side I've gotten it to lower substantially, 10-20 degrees. Ten 80 millimeter fans (About 3 inches) got here today so I'm going to get those installed tomorrow... If I can. Which leads to why tomorrow sucks, school registration and orientation, what a fun 2 hours.

I also just got a Creative Fatal1ty Headset, the 3.5mm non-pro one. It's pretty nifty headset, inline volume control and a mute switch and it has a removable boom microphone, and the sound quality is great, lots of rich bass. But the microphone is lacking, the "noise-canceling technology" is more like "turn background noise into horrible static technology". I can't even have my fan on low and use the microphone without someone on the receiving end telling me to shut up because they can't stand it (yes, they actually use those words). It also has nice comfortable velvet ear cushions, although they don't &#039oof out' enough so the plastic speaker grill thing may hit the tip of your ear and kind of bend it which hurts after a few hours. They operate rather well with glasses though. The plastic it's made out of feels really cheap although it hasn't broken yet. The first time you put it on it will be really tight, but after a few hours it tends to take the size of your head. It also includes a pretty neat carrying bag that would make anyone look even nerdier when going to a LAN party. John "Fatal1ty" Whendon's logo (his signature is also scribed above the left can) is on it quite a bit. Although he has a pretty nice little logo, I can deal with it. The cord(s) are a bit thin too I might add. The microphone being on the left kind of bothers me too. But, for USD$40 with free 3 day shipping (woot NewEgg.com) it was a fine deal if it can last me a year.

As for myself, I really want to learn digital painting with GIMP or ArtRage... or anything. I just can't do it... I tried doing a landscape from a pretty good tutorial but I don't know where I screw up. Specifically I'd like to do landscapes, any pointers would be awesome.

Thank You,

- Eric

I've decided it was fine time for me to jot up some reviews, read them, don't read them, I'm still going write them.
-------------------------------

UNREAL TOURNAMENT III
-------------
First up ins Unreal Tournament 3. Produced by Epic Games the creators of Gears of War and published by the now faltering Midway, famed publishers of Mortal Kombat and classic arcade. It's the fourth in the Unreal Tournament series on the PC, preceded by Unreal Tournament (commonly referred to as Unreal Tournament 1999 or UT99), Unreal Tournament 2003, and Unreal Tournament 2004. Unreal Tournament is a spin-off the actual Unreal games which follow a story while the Unreal Tournament games are just multiplayer action.

As I said before, Epic Games also created Gears of War prior to Unreal Tournament III. This is evident in the visual style. The games runs with Unreal Engine III and is very pretty. Very sharp, crisp, high res textures with a lot of great ambient and dynamic lighting. Combined with very high poly models and in some amazing way pretty decent, affordable specs. The game really blows me away visually. Especially the detail on some of the character outfits.

I cannot accurately judge the sounds since right after I bought the game and got back home I found the right half of my headset didn't work. Which means no microphone, bass, or surround sound. So that I cannot judge until I pickup a new headset. From what I could here it was the classic Unreal Tournament sound. The guns sounds great although the car engines are a little odd, but I have no Bass right now.

The controls are nice and tight, WASD to run, Space jumps, double tap space for a double jump, clicking fires, E is to use something and F is feign death (you're character flops down just like he's dead. Ragdoll and all). They're very responsive and work well together. The 'special' things like wall jumping work perfectly, you just jump into a wall then jump away from it. Although I have some gripes about the vehicle controls. It is very... consolely. You accelerate with W and reverse with S. The issue is you turn with A and D instead of the mouse. This makes me run run into a bunch due to the fast paced and very touchy A and D keys while swinging the mouse around to keep looking ahead, since the view doesn't follow the vehicle if you turn. The Hoverboard controls are very nice and tight, using the mouse to turn and the keyboard to turn, using them both makes a very sharp turn, from 90 to 180 degrees on a dime.

It stays classic to the Unreal Tournament series gameplay and setting wise. It's still pretty fast paced but not as fast as, say, Quake III Arena where you can't stop due to the forward momentum of running 100MPH. The gameplay goes as a very good pace on large open maps, in the smaller maps it can be a fast chaos. Firefights consist of dodging and bunny-hopping most of the time to avoid being shot. They introduce a new mode in Unreal Tournament III, Warfare. In Warfare your goal is to capture the enemies Nodes and then destroy the Power Cell. To capture a Node you blow the crap out of it then stand in it. To speed up the process you shoot it with your Link Gun. An enemy must damage the Node to capture it and you can again make use of your Link Gun to repair the Node as your enemy tries to destroy it to capture it.

You can only capture Nodes that link to each other, and you must capture all the Nodes to link to the Prime Node and henceforth the Power Cell. This mode makes use of vehicles and large areas... most of the time.

They have the classic Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch, no vehicles here. Only classic kill or be killed. These are usually fast paced fights indoors somewhere. we also have Duel which is a one on one Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, again no vehicles just capture the flag (actually FlaGs. "The enemy got the flag!" "Don't you mean Field long air generator?" "It feels like a flag, it looks like flag and waves like a flag. It's a flag!" ignore any misquotes ). We also are treated to Vehicle Capture the Flag, or VCTF. This is Capture the Flag with vehicles. This is my personal favorite modes since it combines my two loves, Capture the Flag and vehicular combat. Each game mode is solid and fleshed out with little flaws. The back and forth World War I-like battlefront shifting of Warfare can get annoying.

It's set in a somewhat gritty sci-fi future. It's not a horror game at all, rather science fiction. As a good fellow at IGN.com explained it, "Some goth, emo aliens invade your town and kill everyone. Amazing.". He couldn't be closer. You then seek refuge with another group led by Malcom, a character familiar to Unreal Tournament fans (Malcom is the African-American in green heavy armor with a golden eagle on his chest and a beret)...

People see it all wrong. Do you really have ANY idea what will happen if you rip all the soldiers from there? Do you really have ANY plausible idea at ALL?

.....

Peace?

The Vietnam War, we pulled our troops out too soon. Four years later there was a genocide, invasion, and repression of citizens.

Do I think we should have begun the war against the two forces in Iraq in the first place? No. They are two forces, the Shiites and Sunnis, who have been fighting longer than the United States of America has existed. Why we went to Iraq and began war with them is beyond me. Now that we've begun there's IEDs and suicide bombings, everything. If we left now it would be chaos there.

Talk on other war, we need forces in Iran. Now. We can't wait until we can be positive they have nuclear capability. I know Iraq had the "Weapons of Mass Distraction" but Iran is the real deal to my knowledge. I don't go on conspiracy theories, I go on hard evidence. Some of it is considered conspiracy, like the Magic Bullet theory for JFK. But that's another journal entry. Anyways, Iran has launched way too many long range cruise missiles to be ignored. One nuclear launch is the destruction of one world. One leads to another and so on (I had like three paragraphs typed up but said screw it when it can be one sentence).

On the Depression (not the Great Depression, this one). We all know it's coming. We just hate to say it. Well, get used to it. This is almost it. Rich people have nothing to spend money on, the poor don't enough to spend on anything, and akin to a shark, the economy sits still for a few moments, doesn't get air and dies. Then our men return from war, they buy stuff. They in turn rejuvenate the economy and create a spike until the next depression. It's a natural course of economy. Bush just isn't handling well, pumping more money into the economy. That just sends the USD down in value so things cost more while we don't get paid more. The answer, give them stimulus checks. Okay, good idea. But you're pumping more money into the economy that wasn't there essentially making the problem worse.

------------------

Thank You for reading this, due to me being half asleep this is truly a mindless rant.

- Eric

The amount of censorship in the world today is astounding.

For those that don't know there's an organization, they go by the name of the Parents Television Council, henceforth PTC. They also 'regulate' music and video games. Now, let me make this clear, they are not federally sanctioned by any means. Nor have they been granted the power of organizations such as the ESRB, the kind people who rate video games.

This PTC have shut down more than one show. The one I remember the best was a show on NBC called Father of the Pride ([link]). It was a very funny show before this PTC decided that DreamWorks could only make kiddie shows.

The PTC made a burger chain cancel a commercial because Paris Hilton washed a car in a bathing suit... really now guys. So you're imposing we shouldn't take children to the beach because it's inappropriate to see women in bathing suits?

They have also proceeded to criticize the cable channel 'FX' (which if you ever tune to you'll see if usually mature [not porn] programming) for the adult programming. You can't attempt to censor Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Nip/Tuck to be suitable for children. Not every show has to be kid friendly.

The PTC criticized SpongeBob SquarePants for promoting profanity for the sake of it all! They twist and mangle everything in their path just to be noticed.

Now that I've told you what they've done, let's see how they do it.

The PTC tends to go behind the stations back and tell all of the shows advertisers, to remove their advertising form the show. Then telling the station either edit the show or go down in flames. To my understanding this is blackmail at it's barest bone.

Did I mention they also tried conning the FCC into fining the NFL/CBS for the Super Bowl half-time where a mistake caused Jackson to show a breast. I guess they thought,
A) Little children would actually know what was going on. In which case they probably need special care.
B) It would show a teenager that they can go show their breasts in public. Teens may (for the most part) be pretty stupid, but I think they understand that's a mistake.

I hope they understand they are not cleansing American culture but rather trying to mold American culture by their own little hands. In the process stripping it down of it's unique colors and texture.

THE FOLLOWING QUOTES ARE CREDITED TO RAY BRADBURY, ACCORDING TO THE CODA IN HIS NOVEL FAHRENHEIT 451.

"Two weeks ago my mountain of mail delivered forth a pipsqueak mouse of a letter from a well-known publishing house that wanted to reprint my story "The Fog Horn" in a high school reader.
In my story I had described a lighthouse as having, late at night, an illumination coming from it that was a "God-Light." Looking up at it from the viewpoint of any sea-creature one would feel "in the Presence."
The editors had deleted "God-Light" and "in the Presence."
Some five years back, the editors of yet another anthology for schools readers put together a volume with some 400 (count 'em) short stories in it. How do you cram 400 short stories by Twain, Irving. Poe. Maupassant and Bierce into one book?
Simplicity itself. Skin, debone, demarroow, scarify, melt, render down, and destroy. Ever adjective that counted, every verb that moves, every metaphor that weighed more than a mosquito---out! Every simile that would have made a sub-moron's mouth twitch---gone! Any aside that explained the two-bit-philosophy of a first-rate writer---lost!
Every story, slenderized, starved, bluepenciled, leeched and bled white, resembled every other story. Twain read like Poe read like Shakespeare read like Dostoevsky read like--in the finale---Edgar Guest. Every word of more than three syllables had been razored. Every image that demanded one instant's attention---shot dead.
Do you begin to get the damned and incredible picture?
How did I react to the all of the above?
Be 'firing' the whole lot.
By sending rejection slips to each and every one.
By ticketing and assembly of idiots to the far reaches of hell.
The point if obvious. There is more than one way to burn a book..." - Ray Bradbury, written in the coda of Fahrenheit 451.

From later in the coda,

"Fire-Captain Beatty in my novel Fahrenheit 451, described how the books were burned first by minorities, each ripping a page or paragraph from this book, then that, until the day came when the books were empty and the minds shut and the libraries closed forever." - Ray Bradbury, written in the coda of Fahrenheit 451.

Sources Cited:

Bradbury, Ray. He sings it, plays the guitar track, and wrote about 80% of the song.
There was a time when a game review was a beautiful thing. It talked about gameplay, the highs and the lows of it all. My friends, that has sadly left us today. As these reviews I will present focus on petty stupid things. Such as their computer being too crappy to play the game. Is that the companies fault? Buy a new computer! They no longer focus on gameplay, replayability and the value of it all. Rather they zero in on the graphics and that their computer sucks. Here are the two reviews I present, taken from Amazon.com on their 'Crysis' listing.

"Barely runs on my incredibly high end quad-core, sli, 8 gigs of mem, Vista Machine. I'm talking 19 frames at 1024 (and that is with the AA OFF?)
I wanted to love this game. I ended up trapped in a world of stupid AI, and graphics that need so much optimization that it isn't worth playing.
Crashtastic game.
You only see the high poly faces in Cinematic Moments.
It has pretty--but without playable pretty is a huge waste.
I'll go back to TimeShift on the PC. That is pretty and runs at 80 plus frames with everything on at 2560 resolution for me. " - Rick Raymo (real name identity tag)

This review seems to focus on the graphics all the way through. Even to the end where has says that he is going to go back to TimeShift because he can play it on full graphics. Let's see our next one shall we,

"I am VERY disappointed by this game. I have a very high end gaming machine and I have problems running this at lowest settings. At higher settings it doesn't run at all. I'm running a dual core system with dual Nvidia graphics cards and this game sucks! If I could take the game back and get my money I would. Once again EA rips me off. I'll never buy another EA product." - John Bourhis (real name identity tag)

This review again focus' on the fact that he dual core is too sucky to run Crysis. Now, I can run Crysis on medium with physics at Very High, and I believe texture is set to high at a very comfortable FPS of around 50-60. I have a dual-core AMD x64 5600+, one nVIDIA 8600 overclocked, no sound card apart from built-in one, 3GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and no PPU. That's kind of odd since it "Barely runs" on Ricky's "incredibly high end" PC. My setup can barely be called entry level and guess what, little to no lag on mine. Now that I strayed into the blatant lies or exaggerations in these reviews I would like to close my rant.

Now, there are good reviews that focus on gameplay, longevity of play, and the value while spending little time on graphics. After all, what asinine idiot buys a game to look at the pretty, shiny graphics? It's simply a hopeless situation.

---------------------------

I also order my copy of Tabula Rasa today ^.^ It will be here Wednesday, full gameplay oriented review coming then.

---------------------------

Tabula Rasa Review:

Tabula Rasa is frakking awesome. The combat system is just... it's works perfectly. To use magic you have to find logos spread throughout the game world, usually hidden in caves and fairly well guarded. These powers are... strong to say the least. At level 5 my lightning attack does around 400 damage while my gun only does 40. To use the ability all you do it target the enemy (with the crosshair, like a shooting game) and right click. It takes very little time for the power to go off. To shoot you have to aim and click to pull the trigger. It is in no way turn based, and doesn't have an auto-attack. You actually have to take cover or else, you're dead. You fight from the normal behind your avatar view or by clicking in the scroll wheel you enter a really cool kind of action view. It places the character to the far left so you're looking directly over his shoulder. There is no mouse cursor like in WoW, when you move your mouse you move your view. To use the cursor you have to enter UI mode by bringing up a window like your character window or inventory. The class system is branching, you start as a recruit and then choose spec or soldier so on so forth to the final 8 classes. There's four races to choose from, all on the same side. You start with human and by doing quests or missions you unlock the other three. The cloning system, cloning one character to be able to make a new one at the same but a different class is a special thing. Getting a token is difficult. There are 4 servers, you get like 16-20 characters on each server. You choose a family surname for each server, so your character has two name such as "Jord Torey". In chat you are identified by your Surname. This adds more immersion except for the idiots who choose names like Cheese. There are at times large invasions of the enemy Bane that are awesome to fight off. There is a storyline, that unlike WoW's which is simply "Horde invaded. You kill.", which is very deep. The Bane have invaded, captured/destr...

I'm tired of it. It's everywhere. I mean everywhere, forum boards, various websites, TV shows, science textbooks, even World of Warcraft. So what if you don't believe in God, or that the Bible is true, keep it to yourself. I'm tired of hearing remarks like 'Christians are idiots!' or 'Stupid fuck, god doesn't exist' or my favorite 'Where's your evidence dumb ass?!?!?!'. And worse yet, they're the ones who attack me, or us if I may. I do nothing to them. For an example, I came on WoW and started wandering around Stormwind, talking to a friend, and I glance at the trade chat. They're insulting my faith. I simply ask them ' Please stop insulting my faith'. What do I get? Not a sorry, or even an okay, no, I get some spam-load of insults thrown at my intelligence, one of my favorites 'nub gawd don't exist dum fuk!' or how about 'dinosaurs aren't animals there lizards dipshit' and I'm one who gets insults lobbed at their intelligence. You would think, that it being 2008, these little parasitic atheists would stop stereotyping and verbally persecuting Christians. Especially with insults that say things like we attack atheists when in essence they are the ones attacking us. They yell at us for playing WoW (yes, someone actually did, on WoW nonetheless) or trying to defend our faith. They say we shove our faith down their throats when that's what they're doing to us. Or are they under the misconception that since they believe in nothing they're not shoving anything at us? And you want to know something, if you haven't got it by now, I'm tired of it all. You would think my 2008 people would be able to accept others beliefs, maybe even support them. I have nothing against atheists, one of my friends is an atheist (I know it's like saying "I'm not racist I have 3 black friends and one's married to a Mexican with 2 black kids"). I have something against those radical atheists who think they need to insult, demean, demoralize, dehumanize, and blame everything on Christians. And in doing it, they get facts wrong. It's horrible. I support any Christian out there, any believer in Christ who does go through this everyday and comes out in faith. I have nothing against atheists as long as they can accept I'm a Christian (Lutheran to be exact) and shut up about it.

I'm annoyed, really, really annoyed. About... privacy, integrity, and the safety of the internet now days. To start off with, this is a long boring grammatically screwed up story, written by a very mad little kid who's not sure how to say what he wants. AKA, a large jumble of words.

To start, with privacy. You don't have it. I don't have it. No one has it. Every call you make, the time you start the call, who you called, when you hung up are recorded. As well as who calls when and leaves a messege, and how long the messege is. All of this information can be sold off, resulting in multiple telemarketers. What about my postal mail? I can't say I know that what you get is recorded, but I can say multiple companies store and sell your address to other companies. Resulting in junk mail. Your e-mail address. It's sold, a lot. When you signed up for DA, your address was sold for profit.

Then comes integrity, when I signed up for DA, they said "We respect your privacy and won't sell your e-mail address" guess what I got in my inbox. Five of those stupid lottery scams, from India, the UK, even one claiming I one a Yahoo/MSN lottery. Will these people stop at nothing. And yes, DA is the ONLY site I have used that certain e-mail address to sign up for.

Then comes safety. Getting a phone scam, is really quite rare, as is a phone scam. Want to see something weird though? This is my 'spam account', I know not all these are scams,

[link]

Each colored circle has it's notation here:

Red- Idiots, I'm a MALE! A guy! I'm not a woman, or a mom, or even a parent at that.
Purple - >_> How stupid do you think I am? How about you tell why I should see your pics? Or even better, why do I want to see ANYONE's pics?
Yellow- Yeah I bet, would that be the same person who's giving me the job opportunity?
Green- So... you want to confirm.. something I never ordered..... wow... go screw yourself.
Blue- Yes, activate that card, right now.. >.> if I wanted a credit card activated I WOULD GET ONE! Not activate one from a stupid e-mail.

And I'm starting to feel a little sick.... but that's not the point.

I just noticed something, no one makes good sci-fi VS themes. So, I have a request. I would like to request a Sci-Fi based Visual Style for XP. I want a full theme, icons, and the basic bar and menu changes, and sounds [maybe]. I know these things take time, and lots of it, which is why I try to ask this respectively. I would rather not pay in money, but maybe in art, if you like any of mine, some kind of game items if you don't mind, but if you really do want money maybe we can work something out. Please, PM me with details, I know we have great artists here that should be able to fill my needs.

Then there's the simple part, if you can find me a good Sci-Fi Visual Style, I'll love you forever.

The point is, I don't think people know I do anything for free, the exchange of money over the internet is too confusing and troublesome for my poor little mind. So, I do everything for free. If you play Tales of Pirates or Endless Online or Runescape, maybe a little charge on there . Pm me with whatever you want, userbar, wallpaper, signature, PSP background, the dimensions if it's a sig or wallpaper. Enjoy! I guess...

I'm new, I love art [some of it]. As well as Star Wars, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, you know, the classic nerd. Most of my drawings you'll see will either be elves or some kind of magna, although I don't like it. As I stated I don't like anime although I do like Final Fantasy and the games of anime. I play alot of online games, you'll find me under these names:

Pumpernickel [Endless-Online, Tale of Pirate]
Nickelpat [Flyff, various others, IGN.com]
Nichols_02 [Runescape, also Nerdstock_42]
Daniel Kochler [Used to be on Guild Wars, on Last Chaos]
Jord Torey [Any Sci-Fi game, Zero Online]

I love Star Wars, I may be posting my lightsaber designs. I may speak geek sometimes, when I get annoyed or you get something wrong. I love researching stuff, Wikipedia and Wookieepedia are pretty much my brother and sister. I do a little poetry, and a bit of FanFiction. I don't check my e-mail often, so I suggest you IM me or PM me. One last thing, if you don't like something I do [not like art] follow one rule;

"Don't bitch, quit."

I do expect CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on my art but not rude comments.

Thank You, and I look forward to anything that may happen.
