when using a flash (dSLR), the ugly overlightning can be removed by reducing the flash power (software correction).
Also, it is important to shoot with a big as possible diafragma combined with a shutter speed of 10-25 (depends strongly on your diafragma opening of course). Finally, exposure should be around 0 (or maybe +1). Dont forget to set the ISO on 800 or 1600.

It should also be possible to not even use a flash, but my experiences so far always resulted in failure due to the need of long shutter times.

I'm testing a lot of settings the last months and hope to introduce some pictures as resources in my deviantart works.

I am currently preparing my master thesis for the university. I'm examining subjects related to medicine combined with data mining, my field of interest . Practically spoken, this would for example mean to compute possible relations between certain therapies and illnesses (not the other way around ). Another idea is to measure different classification systems in order to find the best one (for a given problem area).
But most of all, my main business is enjoying life

- Jose Padilla - long mixed compilations, for BBC radio 1 & Café del mar
- Saint Germain - mixed sets, esp the acid jazz album with Osibasa is great
not to confuse with Saint Germain Café music, also grait jazz compositions
- The Album Leaf - ambient and dream pop kind of music, instrumental, chill, most electronic stuff
- Jazz in the house - great compilations of various jazz artists, esp the 'Jazz in the house [the mix series volume 1]' is a great compilation of 1 hour
- Sven van Hees - great lounge music
- Thievery Corporation - various sets, with vocals - also works with other bands like hoverphonic
- Jeff Mills - has some instrumental albums like 'Metropolis' and 'Blue Potential', electronic music, quite deep and dark
- DaRaLand - only know 1 song: 'session4', great lounge style

- Dargaard - darkwave music, kind of 'dark chill', medieval alike also
- Laurent Garnier - now you have to mind, there are really various stuff he has, from 100% crap to really good

Recently, I found out more about fractals. Fractals are infinitely complex objects that are so detailed and irregular that they cannot easily be described in Euclidian geometric language. Examples of fractals in nature are clouds, snow flakes, mountains, lightning, river networks, broccoli, ... However, fractals are not only common in nature. The boundary of the Mandelbrot set is a famous example of a fractal.
Some google-searching brought me to the next interesting links:
[link] - a big list of software to create fractals. However I'd enjoy more recent tools with even more possibilities. For example, I can't find a layer tool in some of the tools that are listed. That forces me to export all artwork to Photoshop and experiment even more there.
[link] - an explanation of Wikipedia about fractals. There are some typical examples demonstrated, so very interesting if you still have no clue about fractals.

Other news
My training period at Source NV/SA will end soon. However, I can still work there for another month as a student job (which means I'll be payed ). I will probably have to update their site, which will mean I can even more explore the power of Photoshop and Imageready, and develop my skills even further.
My activity on SXC will also rise again soon. I'm currently taking some shots around Kortenberg, a typical Belgian village near Brussels. Also, I'm happy to announce my 5000th download on my SXC account. Feel free to download pictures as resource (or something else) there!
