New month. Thanksgiving break is in 3 weeks. That means there's only a month and a half of the semester left.
But yes, I just got back from seeing my adviser and I've got all my classes for next semester scheduled. I'm pretty excited... I've got Bible, Humanities, Natural Science, P.E., English Composition, and Psychology.
I haven't done much art lately except for a few sketches during lectures and stuff. It's kind of sad. I'll definitely have to do a bunch during Christmas break.

I do need to go now. An essay needs writing.

School's going pretty well. I'm on fall break now. Spending time with my family is fun. I've got a bit of a cold now, so I feel rather ill at the moment. I just hope I'm better when I go back on Tuesday. Everyone who's sick is sort of required to see the nurse and I sort of hope I can avoid it. I mean, it's just a cold. I feel weird going to a nurse for something that's so common and can be gotten over in a matter of days. However we all got an email saying that people on campus who'd had the flu did actually have H1N1. It's kind of weird. And I know my roommate caught something from her younger sister and then her whole family got it, so that means they all had swine flu too. So did our RA. At least no one died.

The past two weeks were extremely hectic. Mainly because of exams and papers. My roommate, friend Anna, and I stayed up past 2 a.m. two nights in a row writing due to a glitch in our comprehension of when assignments were due... *groan* but I think I got reasonable grades on my papers. So at least I know I can write ok when I'm tired. XD

I can't think of much else to write... I feel kind of groggy and tired, so I'm going to go now.

I got a job, yesterday. I start next week. I get to work Friday evenings and Saturday morning and afternoon in the dining hall. I know, sounds boring, but it's my first official job ever so I'm really happy about it. I also joined Dagorhir, the medieval weaponry reenactment group, and my sword's almost finished. It looks really poofy. But then so does every one else's, because the swords are basically made of pvc pipe and foam. XD I'll put up a pic or two if I can get them.

So that's it for now. And here's a meme. Whee.

I'm finally starting to get into the schedule. I'm taking 16 credits, and my favourite classes are Humanities and Intro to Communications. (Partly because the teachers are so cool. )

But my roommate has the flu. I thought she just had a cold and now they tell me she threw up this morning. Of course, everyone's paranoid about H1N1 (aka swine flu) now, so she's been forbidden to leave our room until she's better. Which I'm kind of glad of, because she really did look miserable and I think she deserves a break from classes. I don't want to think she has H1N1 though. That would be bad. But seriously, how many people die from normal flu every year? A couple thousand. So why is there such a fuss over H1N1 anyway, if it's just a flu? *sigh*
And I was starting to feel a little bit ill because I'm half expecting to get something from her... I was really dizzy this afternoon, but that was probably because I didn't sleep well and I had way too much coffee at breakfast. I'm a better now. My friend made me eat soup so I don't feel like I'm going to fall over anymore. XD
I just hope my roommate gets better soon. There are a few other girls in our dorm who are sick too... I'd appreciate prayers for them and for the health of everyone else.

Well that's it for now. I have a class in 45 minutes so I should go.

My room is a total mess. Or it was this morning. It's better now that my mom's taken some of my stuff downstairs to pack away, but earlier it was cluttered with clothes, folders, books, and odds and ends. I could hardly walk through it, sit on my bed, or my chair for that matter. So I can say my college packing has officially begun. And even a full 5 days before I leave! XD That's probably a good thing, assuming the next few days are quite busy. *Sigh* This is all happening rather fast. I'm quite excited about it though.

Also, for those of you who are wishing I'd upload more art and less photos, well, I just got my very own scanner. The people at my grandma's church got it for me to help with college. They also got me a printer and a spiffy computer-carrying backpack. It was really sweet of them. ^^ So, I'll scan some stuff when my time and my room are less cluttered.

I'm back from the trip to NY. We actually went to Vermont too, and then to Niagara Falls. We stayed on the Canadian side for a day and a half and then saw the American side on our way back. I got lots of photos. The only bad thing was that both of my camera batteries were dead, and I forgot the charger, so I had to borrow my brother's camera during the last part of the trip. XD

Overall Niagara Falls was the most enjoyable part of the trip for me. The first part of the week we were going around visiting my parents' friends (who knew me when I was like...3 or 4) so it was rather awkward because they remembered me, but for the most part I had no clue who they were. And it seemed that all people every asked me was 'What college are you going to?' 'What are you studying there?' So it got a little tiring. Kinda felt like I might as well just go on repeat and keeps saying the same two answers over again. XD But once I'd met them and we'd gotten past the college talk it wasn't so bad.

I'll try to upload when I'm able. I've got several WIPs that I haven't had time to finish... and tons of photos, but the next two weeks are going to be pretty busy for me. We're in a crunch for filming, I'm getting my last supplies for college, my cousin's coming to visit, and...I have to take my driver's test in a week. The thought makes me rather scared. I've only been driving for about a month, maybe less. I'm only eligible to take the test in the first place because I'm 18... But we'll see how it goes. God will help, of that I'm sure.

I'm officially 18 now. Whoohoo. *dances* Actually, I was yesterday, but I didn't feel like doing a journal then. XD

So... I got some good stuff. ^^ Some of it was just things I'll need for college, but I did get several movies I've been wanting. Especially FFVII AC!!!!!!!!! Yeah... I kind of wasn't expecting to get it because I know my parents think it's pretty silly. XD But, now I finally have it so I don't have to watch blurry clips on YouTube anymore. My brother convinced my mom to give it to me a day early because he wanted to watch it too. I also got speakers for my computer, a new watch, and a dictionary and thesaurus, along with a few other odds and ends.

Sorry I haven't uploaded much actual art lately... I'm going to my grandma's this weekend so I'll scan some stuff then. I was going to put a few photos of my art up, but they were a pain to edit so I'll just wait. I have been working on a picture of these prisoners...one of them is my OC Rowan, but I have no idea who the others are. They just sort of came to me. Haha. And I think I'm going to do portraits of Cloud and Vincent because I feel like it.

I don't actually have a scanner, but my other grandma does, so I'll try and get to her house sometime soon. My camera takes OK pictures of my drawings, so I might get some up in a bit. Especially my new comic about Reno stealing Cloud's lunch. XD

My great grandmother also just turned 101 yesterday, which is awesome, and she's still in good health, except for her eyes and her memory. I took a pretty long bike ride with my family today too.

I'm back!
We just got internet yesterday. It's faster than what we had in Mongolia too.
Yay.

A rather unorganized account of what's up:
I'm doing pretty well...I'm glad to see my friends and family again. It's been really rainy here lately, and kind of chilly. I hope it warms up. Normally I love rain, but four days in a row is getting rather depressing.

I'm using my own new computer to write this. ^^ My parents also got me a camera for a belated graduation gift, and it has *amazing* macro. I really love it. I've been taking photos of flowers in my grandma's flowerbed. I've also been sewing my princess costume for the movie my friends and brother and I are making this summer. It's almost done, and it was actually easier than I expected, though my grandma had to help me on several occasions.

I've also discovered, to my delight, that several of my friends already know about FFVII. haha. That is, they've seen Advent Children and told me they didn't get the story, but at least I don't have to explain every single character. My friend Zack joked that since I was obsessed he would make me a wooden model of Cloud's sword for my birthday...I was like 'Uh... I probably couldn't lift it...'

And, I've already visited the college I'll be attending and it looks really nice.

So, end of random update. I hope everyone has a happy July 4th. (For those who are American, that is. )

It's kind of weird. I'm going away from everything I've known so well for about 2/3 of my life, and I don't know when I'll see it again. Not to mention all my friends here.
But, at least I have friends in the States, and most of my relatives are there. Besides, it's not like it's an entirely foreign country. And I am looking forward to seeing everyone I know there, and eating all the food I've been missing, and riding bikes and seeing GREEN...

So yes, there are pros and cons.

I don't know when I'll be able to get on dA next. We'll be staying with my grandma and she only has dial-up. My dad told me that we'd get DSL if at all possible, but I'm guessing that won't be for at least a week or two after we arrive. So... don't expect much uploading or replying to messages, but I'll get on when I can.

And... I was looking around on YouTube... They've made a new version of FFVII Advent Children. (That's rather old news too.) It's Advent Children Complete. It's HiDef and has a bunch of new scenes. I'd really love to see it. Unfortunately it's only coming out on BluRay. *sniff sniff sob* (Why? Why?) XD

The ones in English weren't half as cool, so this one's in Japanese. Luckily for this trailer it's mostly action scenes, so it doesn't matter. Check it out.

Government can get so confusing sometimes.
I've been told there's a new bill in the House of Representatives preventing anyone in authority, especially pastors, from saying stuff against homosexuality. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but it sounds to me that this would violate the 1st Amendment, particularly the free speech part. I guess it was more hateful speech that would be prohibited, but I'm not sure.
And frankly, if the American government is going to continue in their role of freedom for all and no discrimination whatsoever, this bill is in the right. For them. I'm not saying I agree with it.
But then, everyone can't be free all the time, can they. In my opinion, if they pass this bill, it's giving special rights to a certain group that others don't have. Plenty of minorities get slandered all the time--particularly those with a different skin colour or religious backgrounds. Definitely Christians, for one. And these groups don't have any laws protecting them from hate-speech, do they? I suppose if the government had to protect everyone this way, they might as well say, 'No one can say anything against anyone ever.' Which really would be just silly.
And you know, even Jesus Himself said things to the Pharisees which would probably be considered hate-speech today.

I'm just saying that it's a hard balance between what's right and what the population wants, and it doesn't look like the right will win. This bill seems it will prohibit free speech mainly for Christians. But you know what? In one sense it's almost better that way. Christ said this His followers would suffer because of Him, and this could be the beginning. We need to be praying that God's desire will be done here...

Yeah yeah, I should probably look the bill up before I start raving. This could be outdated information for all I know. After all, I live in Mongolia, which isn't exactly the best place to get the latest reports on legislation.

So... I'm sorry if this made absolutely no sense. I just heard about this a few hours ago, and I'm still a bit mad/sad about it. I just felt like getting it out.


Anyway. On a different note, I want everyone to know that I am opening requests again. However, in a few days we will no longer have a scanner. The one at my dad's office broke, so he's going to take ours to use. (Haha, perfect timing, I know. I open requests just when the scanner disappears. XD)
This does not mean I won't be able to upload anything. It just means that at the moment any traditional art will take a little longer for me to post here. I'll be able to scan things, just not as often.

So, it turns out that I'm going to Geneva College. The financial situation at Grove City College was a little too much, especially considering that I basically have my first year paid for at Geneva. (And some of the following years as well.) This was originally my first choice though, so I'm pretty happy. And it turns out one of my good friends from my hometown in PA is going there too. Wow, just like that I know where I'm going. And last semester I was having such troubles with applications. It's nice to know that part's over with.

I'm also getting a dress made for graduation. The seamstresses got my measurements a week ago, so they called me in for a fitting yesterday, and they had me try on the top part, and did all these measurements, and stuck pins in me...Well, not in *me*, but they were adjusting the fabric on my side near my ribcage, and it was kind of starting to tickle, but I didn't want to laugh for fear of getting pricked. XD But anyway, it's looking really pretty!!!!! I'm so excited. They said it would be done in a few days. Yay.

It's kind of weird to think that in almost exactly two months I'll be leaving the country I've called home for the past 12 years. I'm kind of excited about it too though.

That's got to be my new favourite plz icon.

I just hit 10,000 pageviews today! I'm so happy. Thanks so much to all you guys...for your support and giving my art so much love.

Today I realized something kind of funny...When I was about 3 or 4 years old, my dad used to teach a physics class at a high school in New York. I remember the one day he let me sit in on the class. All the students, the 'cool but scary big kids' said hello to me, and then I sat in his supply closet most of the class period, playing with the gadgets, and breaking some... (though not on purpose, I assure you. XD)
Today at physics at the co-op, we were sitting attentively, and a little girl came in the room and just sat and watched us. She looked about 5. When I was her age I was practically in awe of high school seniors...but now I am one. And I still feel like a kid sometimes. It's interesting.

Well well, that's enough thought-provoking rambling. Or maybe it wasn't thought provoking, but anyway I must be going.

Rowan: Perhaps I do. I often contemplate revenge for those who harmed me and my kin when I was young. But I see no trouble with that. Really, I'm not the only one who has such violent fantasies concerning those I hate.
Xenon: Faults? Nope, I'm good. *flashes a brilliant grin*
Mida: HA! Oh, right. You are so going down, buddy. You think you're such an angel, huh? Well, take it from me: You're the most obnoxious 17-year-old I know of! You act more like you're 15! You and your black leather and your buckles and boots! And not to mention that screamo music you listen to! What's more, you're a smart aleck, and you break things that aren't yours, and you tease me, and...and...and....
What? Huh? Oh, me. Faults? Well, I guess I can get kinda ticked off easily...and I sometimes get angry. But not much. *smiles sweetly*
Galadae: Well, I tend to blame myself. Like when my brother died...I knew I could've saved him. If I had been faster...I could have come to his aid! Oh dear, there I go. I should just be quiet.
Lew: I'm sometimes a pessimist. Or else just afraid of new and dangerous places.

Rowan: I haven't had much time or thought for women lately. So yes.
Xenon: Yep. Sure.

Only it's not quite so dramatic as all that. XD I've done lots of sitting the past two days, on airplanes, ferries, and buses. And seen lots of stupid movies, because that was all they ever played on the ferries and buses.

Anyway... my vacation was overall a splendid one. It started out not as pleasant as I'd hoped because I had 4 warts on my left big toe, and when the doctor removed them I had to have stitches. So I couldn't swim for 10 days, and my toe hurt pretty badly for the first three. After that I was pretty much fine. By the time we were ready to go to the beach my foot was healed enough so I could swim all I wanted. We got to go snorkeling, and yes we did go kayaking this year, though this time without incident. (Thankfully!) I found out that puffer fish are really cute. I'm not kidding. They have such huge dark eyes, and their head takes up about 1/3 of their body. If I didn't know that puffer fish spines can be poisonous, I would've attempted to catch one.

I do have lots of photos and new drawings to post. And I actually finished one of the requests! XD My brother and I were doing a lot of writing too. I finally completed the fairy tale I've been working on since November or December. I didn't really like writing it but I was so tired of leaving everything unfinished that I forced my self to give it a reasonable ending. XD

But now I'm glad to be back. It was really nastily hot and humid at Koh Phangan (the beach place), and when we arrived in Ulaanbaatar today it was -2 Fahrenheit outside!! Such contrast.

Something rather uncanny occurred on the way back. There was this mormon guy on the same flight as us that looked very similar to one of my friends. The guy's face had a few minor differences, of course, and his hair colour wasn't even close. But he probably could've passed for my friend's brother if he wanted. He even had a similar grin. When I first saw him I was like "Whoa..." It was kind of funny.

So, that is that. I'll try to post some of my new stuff soon.

So...I'm trying to finish up this pic of a weird winged guy...and I'm in the middle of another nice one of Rowan, whom I haven't drawn for awhile...I hope to have those up before I leave. I've taken a little too long on some of my other pics which people requested. I plan to work on some during the next few weeks.

I'm also doing some very odd yet fascinating research for my schoolwork. My report is on mythical creatures/beings, their origins, and possible evidence they existed. The ones I'm focusing on are dragons, griffins, seafolk, unicorns, and fairies. So far I think dragons are really the most probable. Today I discovered that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle believed in fairies, and was a spiritualist, and because of this people began to say he was more like Watson than Holmes. XD

You know, this is kind of strange... but last night, when it was just about midnight I was standing out on our balconey, watching all the fireworks, flares, etc, and shivering...It was a clear night too. I didn't really mind the cold because I standing outside in frigid air sometimes. For some reason it struck me as all rather poetic and romantic. I have no clue why. Perhaps because the flares were so bright and it was so cold. Maybe I shall incorporate such a landscape into one of my stories or pictures. Fireworks would be fun to draw.

Anyway...I also had an awesome dream last night. It was like a mix of Mongolia, FFVII, a soccer game, a war zone, and LOTR. There was Bonesaw from Spiderman 1 and these Arabian terrorists... ~Professor-Kirby was in it too. I think I'll spare you the telling because it's so random though. XD

Hope everyone had a great holiday! I did. We went sledding with our teammates. I hadn't done that in a few years. There were a couple amusing wipe-outs preformed by those on the sleds, including myself, my brother, and my dad...and I kept rolling off of my sled...especially going down the steepest slopes. Those were actually steep enough that if I just stood still, I would start to slide down on my feet!

And of course, I got lots of cool stuff... like BRISINGR!!!! I'm finally reading it!!!! Also a John Howe artbook... he explains some of his techniques in it! And a new mp3 with a good battery...and a Strongbad T-shirt...Showdown by Ted Dekker...and the soundtrack to Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Candy too.

My brother got a new GBA game, Sword of Mana, which he was nice enough to let me play. I'm now actually ahead of him.

We successfully annoyed plenty of people in physics today. My dad showed us this handy trick with drinking straws, where if you cut it right and blow through it a certain way, it will omit a dreadful squeak that, depending on the pitch, can sound like a duck or a trumpet. Or various other things. Once all of us had our straws cut, we just sat there tootling away... and Caleb's actually sounded sort of like wheezy bagpipes. XD
Then after class Mark, Vicky and I paraded into the computer room, blowing on our instruments all the while, and Nick said our straws were such toys for six-year-olds. XD He's probably right, but they were still fun.

It's been pretty freezing here lately too. A few days ago it was -11 degrees F out. Way colder than last year. Perhaps the cold winters are returning. It was 9 degrees tonight, and my dad said 'Ooh, it's warm.' (Compared to -11 with windchill, it was great. XD)

And I keep having random dreams that I'm playing FFVII. Haha. It's really silly, because I doubt I ever will play it. Mostly since I don't see why I would get a PSP because I'm not exactly a frequent gamer.

Well, I should probably go memorize my poem lines for the Christmas program. So that's it for now.

My mom, three teachers, and I were riding back in a taxi to Ulaanbaatar from Selenge (which is one of the northern province areas) and the police stopped us at a checkpoint. We didn't think it was anything unusual at first. Then one policeman asked to see our passports. All except one of us had copies of them. They were, unfortunately, old copies, so our visas appeared to be expired. The policeman pointed this out, and my mom argued that they were in truth perfectly valid, and so on and so forth. Luckily she had her other ID, which showed that she at least wasn't illegally in the country. She ended up having to call one of our office workers about it, who in turn informed the policeman of our visas' validity, and we got through. We had to pay about $3.50 per person, but that's a small fine. If we hadn't been able to convince him, the police would've taken us to the nearest jail. We would've had to sit there until someone else brought all our correct papers, which would take hours. I'm just glad they told us that after we got through and not before!

So yes, it was quite an eventful trip. *nervous laugh* XD Actually it was a fine trip otherwise.

You are probably wondering what's the cause of this angst? It's nothing that's happened yet...and it might not even happen. My parents were just talking to me about financial situations and such. They were saying that even if I get tons of financial aid, I could end up with a huge debt, and in that case it would be better to consider other options. Including college classes online. Which wouldn't be too bad, I suppose. I mean I like my home and all that... but I guess I kind of wanted to get out on my own. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents and my brother and Mongolia, but... yeah. *sigh* And whichever way God has for me I'll need to be content with it.

I know, I know, I'm getting worked up and worried for no reason. It's not like everyone I know died or something. XD I think I'll leave now and spare you the rest. I'll just say I'm glad that God's running my life, not me, and I'll have to see where He leads.

Well, maybe they're over just in time before we get *too* tired. Em and I were quite busy painting faces (and not to mention hands and arms). But of course we enjoyed it. I mean what else is more fun than spending two hours painting designs on people? XD All the other booths were sweet too, though we didn't have much time to do them.

And the moon is really gorgeous tonight. I almost wish the power would go off so we could just see by moonlight. But then I couldn't work on the computer very well. XD

So that's about it for now.

This morning there was an interesting incident. It's almost funny but not exactly, simply because I'm not sure what would've happened if I'd not hung up the phone when I did. My brother and I were fast asleep in our hotel room. The phone rang, at about 7 in the morning and Simon told me to answer it. I don't blame him, besides he's the one with the growth spurt (and thus a need of more sleep) not me. XD Anyway, I picked the phone up, and a Mongolian guy speaking in English asked,
"Is this Orna?"
"No," I replied, "I think you have the wrong number." I was about to hang up, when he said:
"No I think it's the right number. Could it be... we are friends?"
I wasn't sure what he meant because I was half asleep. I thought he was saying that it was possible I knew him already and that I could give him Orna's room number. That's a strange line of reasoning, but that's what I thought.
I replied, "But I don't know Orna. Sorry."
He hesitated a bit, and then said, "Well are you alone or with people?"
I immediately became very suspicious of his motives, and said "With people."
"I am also with people," he replied. "With my two friends, and so if you don't mind--"
I hung up, thinking it quite unwise to continue the conversation.
Later I decided that he must've been drunk, because I don't know anyone who would want to call a random person at 7 a.m. except for an emergency. *laughs nervously* Anyway, other than that my weekend was quite enjoyable. Besides, one advantage to getting rudely awakened was that I was able to finish my Ivanhoe reading homework and get some face painting designs down for next week.

Oh, and by the way, I said I'd do pics for ~Computermouse and ~Professor-Kirby...I am going to work on them. I've been a bit busy, and I have a few other drawings I'm doing too. So don't worry I've not forgotten you guys' pics. It just might take awhile for me to get them up.

School's going pretty well. I finished Pride and Prejudice and I loved it. I'm usually not one for romance stories, but this one wasn't as awful and sappy as some of the others I know of. Probably because it was written over a century ago.

At the co-op we've decided the Fall Festival theme is Fairy Tales. Heather, Em and I are planning to do a face-painting booth.

I read the first 5 chapters today and quite like it. I also learned how to say 'Do you want coffee?' in Russian. Along with various other words and expressions. I think Russian and Lit will be my favourite classes.

I also received my grades back from my Lit evaluator guy in the states so I can now apply to college! I hope to have applied to 2 by the end of this week. Yes I've been saying that for several days now... I rather need to get to it if it's going to happen. If you guys could pray about that a bit... because for some reason I'm rather nervous about what to write in the applications. I know my choice of words will be one of the big determining factors to my acceptance or rejection... and that unnerves me. So if you could pray that I'd have the guts to just get it over with and meanwhile write the right stuff I'd really appreciate it.

...and I've been working on this rather large pic of Genesis Rhapsodos (from FFVII of course ) but it will probably take me awhile now that school's begun...

The teens made a silly movie again. Mark was the security guard and Simon and Ryan were bank robbers who wanted to kill him. I was mostly the camera woman but I have a scene where I get shot XD. Then Mark jumps out the window with a scream of despair. Yay for such drama.

The last day Mark and Corrie and I had a rather heated discussion. Mark likes to argue so I guess he liked it but I came out of it quite annoyed... because he kept trying to convince us (when we were not to be convinced by anything he said) and we kept trying to sway him (and he wasn't to be persuaded by us either) and it just went around and around in circles. It's rather funny now that I think of it.

We made it all the way up the mountain this time. We did have an hour to do it though instead of 1/2 of one like last year. Yeah, I missed Abbi... *sniff* and Zack as well I suppose, but it was still quite an enjoyable time.

The strange thing was, instead of the usual stomach/intestinal distress epidemic that seems to come with conferences, everyone got a cold. XD

Oh dear, this means I start school really soon...

Then on Saturday we all go off for a week to Nukht, which I'm sure will be fun, despite the fact that Abbi's gone, and that neither Zack nor ~Professor-Kirby could come this year... but of course they couldn't come because they both graduated lol. My brother and I have plans to try and make more stupid movies again. Anyway, just to let you know I might not be commenting much the next week or so, though I may have some time the rest of this week.

About that thing on my back... I saw the doctor again today and he said he couldn't remove it yet because there still might be lots of bacteria there despite the fact that the infection's mostly disappeared. So I have to take antibiotics for another week. And then I have to wait till October till the doctor gets back... I guess it's better for him to do it than the Mongolian doctor though. It doesn't really hurt any more but I just hope it won't get infected again while I'm waiting. Because that would be dreadful. But I am glad I won't have a sore back for Nukht.

Well that's what I'd do for other people. For myself I'd use it for college of course, and buy my own computer if I could.

It was intended more for decoration than combat, I think, because it's rather thin and the scabbard has excessive varnish. I don't know if it's a real sword--it does look rather cheep compared to other swords I've seen. Nevertheless it's WAY better than that puny carved wooden dagger thing I had before. I'm not in the least disappointed because I hadn't expected it to be so big. It's a shorter sword but it's the perfect size for me(it's about 3 feet long). Anyway her family was moving out of their old apartment, and her mom found the sword lying around with some other random junk, and was going to throw it out. Jasmine salvaged it though. Yay.

It was actually very funny today when she gave it to me. I stood talking to her at baseball and she handed it off. Then I thought I should go over and warm up with everyone else, so I walked over to the crowd. As soon as I got close, a bunch of the 12 or 13 year old guys flocked around me saying, 'Ooh, what's that? A sword? Cool! Can I see it? Sweet!' etc. And they were waving it around too. I'm just glad it's not sharp enough to cause serious damage. XD

The scary thing is, this is the first violent protest in Mongolia that has every gone this far. Even in 1990 it was peaceful demonstrations. The president gave out some regulations for the next 4 days to calm the violence. I'm very thankful that neither we nor anyone we know lives near to the city square. It's just in God's hands now...

No, I'm not really tired, but it won't let me change the mood icon.

It was only sprinkling on the way to church, but by the time we got there we were all pretty wet. Then while we were in church it began pouring, and we couldn't get a taxi so we had to walk home in it. Which was very fun. The hood on my hoodie was so wet I could wring water out of it. We let my mom have the umbrella because she was cold, so I had no choice but to become very wet. I don't know why but I LOVE getting caught in the rain. And getting completely wet and having my hair dripping... I think it's because there's a sense of adventure about it, as if I have to brave the weather for a noble cause.

The only sad thing is, we were supposed to fix up the baseball field. We couldn't yesterday because people were there playing soccer. We don't even have the chalk down, and baseball's supposed to start tomorrow. It's going to be very muddy and I'm not sure how we're going to fix things up.

And yes, I'm supposed to finish history this week. I decided to postpone my lit and finish it next week because I have lots of history. I'm used to doing 1, maybe 2 papers a week, but now I have 4 for this week. I just hope I can get it all done... *sigh*

But I am happy about the rain. The river's been dry for a while and now it's flowing...

The past two days have been so dusty, I've had to wash my face when I got home. Especially today, we were walking into the wind most of the way home, and the wind was blowing dust at us most of the time. We had a slight sprinkle, but not quite enough to stop the dust. At least it's nice and warm out.

Yesterday my brother and I and a bunch of other people went to clean up the stadium field for baseball. (the 23rd...yay!) So we started out with rakes to get all the biggest stones in a pile. We did this for so long that it got a little monotonous, and we ended up standing around with our tools talking. I had fun posing dramatically with my rake.

Well that's about it...nothing much interesting is happening around here.

I keep having these dreams that are half nightmare and half fun...they're all different too. I'll be going along, happy and laughing, and then I find out that I've forgotten that I needed to get on a plane, and I've only got 30 minutes to pack everything...or I find out that my friend has just done something terrible without remorse, and I wonder why and what on earth is wrong with them...and then I wake up with this sort of angst. Which luckily goes away during the day. Very strange... Ah well, it will probably go away soon. I just wonder why our brains should choose to dream about such annoying or worrisome stuff instead of the perfect fancies we've fabricated while we're awake.

My mom and I went to our friend's wedding shower today. We did that thing where you make a dress out of toilet paper in 10 minutes. Everyone in my group told me I was the artist so I should design the dress...lol. It was fun. Especially dressing Sarah up in toilet paper. I made the dress strapless with a little flower on the top hem. There was also a bow in the back. The veil was attached to a headband, but we ran out of toilet paper before I could do the front of it, so it ended up looking medieval. I was rather happy about that. XD

Someone told Sarah they'd buy her a two litre coke if she walked home in the dress! She was still wearing it when I left. And trying not to breathe lest she rip it. XD

Ah yes, the stupid things we girls do at wedding showers.

Wet leaves, wood smoke, the cold air when it's just snowed, roses, my grandma's house (yes it has a distinctive smell ), various foods cooking...I could go on, but let's just leave it at that.

I don't usually drink much, but if I'm tired enough I'll have hot cocoa, coffee or tea to wake me up.

Today my brother and I were just doing our school work, and my mom was on the computer in her room. Then we come in, and we find she's watching Monty Python stuff on YouTube. (haha no, that's not what she does all day, she was looking for other stuff on YouTube and just happened to find some funny Monty Python clips.)

So we sat and watched Monty Python for about an hour. It was fun. And then of course we remembered that we still had schoolwork to do...XD Luckily we didn't finish too much later than usual.

I think I'm going to do the 'silly walk' someday on the street. Or maybe we'll make a movie of it and get Mark to do it. Now that would be funny. I'd like to perform the fish-slapping dance too. [link]

It began happily. My family, the Duffers, some random guys I didn't know, and another friend of mine were all at a meeting. Sarah and I and my other friend were wandering around in the yard, and suddenly the random teenage guys started spraying us with this huge garden hose. We, of course, tried to retaliate, and everyone had fun getting soaked, etc.

Then I discovered that my friend was really a pirate, even though he looked perfectly normal, and he was somehow related to Jack Sparrow. The captain of his ship had a delight in dancing bears, and kept a whole bunch of them below deck for entertainment. I have no clue why...dreams are just random.

So I was on the ship, waiting for my friend (who'd gone on a small expedition of sorts and wouldn't be back for several days). I went down to see the bears, and there was a piano in the corner. It was a very odd piano, with soft textured, green, blue and yellow keys, but I still decided to play something on it. Then all of a sudden, one of the bears started roaring. I asked one of the crew mates what on earth was going on, and he said it was because the bears knew that someone they were fond of was dead. Then I found out that it was my friend that had died.

I woke up, and was like ‘He’s dead!’ and started crying… and then I realized I wasn’t sure if it really was my friend or not… but it was still terrible.

The odd thing is, two weeks ago, I had a dream that my mom died... Maybe my mind is in 'mortis' mode. Dunno.
