I knows I did.

So my Christmas list got fulfilled, yay!

I am now in possession of the following video games:

--Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
--New Super Mario Bros. Wii

--Rabbids Go Home: A Comedy Adventure
--DJ Hero

However... I still need to get around to these. My brother took over the consoles yesterday, and I felt the need to charge my DS Lite before playing Professor Layton. Today, I just slept in and lazed about on the Internet a bit more. XD

But I was still thoroughly entertained, thanks to the following manga:

--Lucky Star Volume 1
--Time Stranger Kyoko Volume 3

I want more Lucky Star now... and this means I've finished Time Stranger Kyoko! I just wish the Executive Meddling that forced the author to squeeze the story into three volumes didn't happen. I just know that so much more would have been done if they'd just let her take it at her own pace... _{This'd best not happen to me when I become an author.} But for what she could do, she did well. She pulled it off, yeah.

I also now have the following print books:

--And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
--Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

I'd read And Then There Were None back in 7th Grade. It is, to this day, the only book I have read ahead for. Finished it within days of assignment! It engrossed me that much. And it did so again -- started it yesterday, finished it by the wee hours, in between other activities.

Now... why Atlas Shrugged (which I intend to start today)? Well... I just want to see what it's all about._{That, and I borrowed Anthem and The Fountainhead from a teacher who had loads of copies of those books, so I knew that Atlas was the only book I needed to complete the collection. (Yes, I know she also wrote We The Living.) (I'd already gotten around to starting The Fountainhead, and I finished Anthem last night. It. Was. Amazing. Undoubtedly one of the best books I've ever read. Ever.}

And. Most importantly.

I FINALLY GOT TO SEE AGAIN! YAY!

Yeah, she came over for a couple hours yesterday on a whim! And we're doing it again on Monday! We got to catch up, exchange gifts (I now have half of a Best Friends charm necklace that will be worn alongside the scorpion necklace), and see how hard Touhou really is. _Ouch...

So, um.

Mom's doing fine, thank you very much.

And my exams went well, yay~!

I probably should have said all this as soon as I came home Friday, but I guess I just got lost in all the resting~ I've been so relaxed ever since school ended.

Aaaand... awwww. My grandmother's leaving tomorrow. I gotta wake up early to see her off. At least we get a nice, long car ride. And I'm guaranteed to get up early instead of at noon. x.X

Also... I have a little cousin who's getting my old Nintendo DS for Christmas. The parting hurts... and to be honest, I don't quite trust this particular cousin with it (he's a rather rambunctious toddler). ...But I can only hope that when I see him again, he'll be bigger, better behaved, and my precious treasure won't be smashed to pieces. If that's the case, I will tell him that I am a. proud, b. impressed, and c. that I'm going to get him something. I don't know what, but something. Probably a game, just to keep the theme consistent.

But when I found it, I also found my Game Boy Advance! I also found Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the first GBA game I ever owned. I forgot how good I am at this game!

So as you can see, I finally posted the fifth chapter of Open. I've gotten my motivation to write back, so given sufficient time, I could be sending something out any day~

My exams are next week.

Monday is the last full day of classes. Everyone reviews.

Tuesday has shorter classes, except for 7th period, the first exam. Mine is Newspaper. We're considering our December deadline (already pretty much met) our final. So we'll just have an impromptu holiday jubilee.

Wednesday is when the real pressure begins. 1st and 3rd period. Physics and Government. I'm more than fine in Government. It's physics I need to worry about a little...

Thursday. The pressure continues. 2nd and 4th period. Spanish and Calculus. That's my hardest day, mostly due to the math. I'm...

Finally, there's Friday. 5th and 6th. I have lunch in 5th period, so I get some more time to relax before my Language class... evidently, our final will be based off an assignment we'd had earlier. Or so it most likely seems. Either way, it's not so much the difficulty but the time I'll probably be fretting over.

And I'll be coming home early on the main exam days, so it's no sweat.

In other news, my maternal grandmother has come to visit! X3 ...However, it's to help take care of my mom, who's having a surgery on Wednesday the 16th. I'm not too worried, but... you know. I am. That's natural, right? ...Right!?

If Medic were her surgeon... Wait. That'd actually probably be a bad thing. _{...Unless it's the new RED Medic from CV. He seems like a good guy.}

Now... that's the gist of it. I'll be participating in the Demoman-Soldier war this weekend in between work on study guides, so yeah.

I'm just about ready. Just need to charge up my means of entertainment (iPod, DS, PSP and cell phone), put them in my carry-on, finish stocking my toiletries, and I'm set!

I really meant to do this earlier, but I kept... forgetting. TwT

So Thanksgiving Break is not this coming week, but the week after.

However, I will be away for pretty much the whole deal. If I were staying, there would be no need for this journal.

First, the AP Government classes traditionally go to Washington, D.C. for several days during this time. We leave Friday the 20th and return Wednesday the 25th, just in time for Thanksgiving.

Most would, anyway.

My parents will be following us up to the capital the day after we do to spend some time with family up there. They'll be taking me with them on Tuesday, when the bus would depart. It looks like we'll be returning Sunday night.

Just like with Christmas last year. I'm ambivalent.

However, I'm taking my cellphone, and while we're asked not to take them with us during the tours (kinda rude to be talking while a tour is going on, you know?), I'm still up for late-night chats. RF, I'm looking at you -- this includes our usual Saturday chats (my roommates will be so perplexed and it will be epic). In fact, that'll be the day we go to the White House~! I'll tell you about everything!

I'll also ask my parents if they can take my laptop up with them, so that Silver and I may be reunited upon Thanksgiving Day. If not, I'm sure that Dad will still be taking his, so I can still check stuff and things. Loads of things tend to happen when I'm not looking. So yeah.

But, yeah, from next Friday to next Wednesday, I'll be almost completely out; only those who know my cell phone number will be able to reach me.

I've begun to feel a bit like I'm good at nothing.

I don't know much about driving. I've never had a job, so I don't know about either of those.

I'm a pretty good student, but I slack -- sometimes deliberately -- and believe me when I say that there are plenty of students far better than me who actually want to do something that the rest of the world would smile upon.

I'm okay at housework, but I have my clumsy moments. Just today, I spilled about 3 cups of water all over the kitchen counter. Thankfully, my parents never scold me for it, but it's still embarrassing, especially during those times when you think that in the end, in a way, you're the best person ever.

I'm bad about the school newspaper. Recently, I sent in my best article ever. However, I still feel like I can't stack up. Additionally, it was an editorial, in which the reporter has more freedom. If I get any other section, it's going to be sub-par work for me. I'm good enough not to get nitpicked on, but I'm not so great that I'm praised.

_{In fact, does anyone other than the English teachers actually read that thing? Even worse...}

I'm really bad about the Senior Project. If I haven't mentioned it here, what I'm doing is using the Alice program, which is meant to teach object-oriented programming. However, I really haven't done anything with it, jossing the advice ~EspeonStar gave me near the end of last year. I just... can't... get myself to do it!

The point of the Senior Project is to work hard at something you're passionate about. Sure, they recommend something you can use in your career, but it's not required. Besides, come on. How many students really know what they're going to do?

But, hey. Guess which route I took anyway?

I wanted to do something related to writing -- I really did. It would have been the perfect opportunity to a. come up with something completely original and b. finish something.

But, no. I took the oh-so tentative career path instead. And now I don't want it anymore. _{Even my English teacher from last year was surprised... Another sign.} I want to change it, but I'm scared that it may be too late. And where in God's name would I find a Project Facilitator for that? _{Besides, the one I have now has already put in time... I'd feel bad about revealing that it was wasted.}

Which leads effectively into two more grievances. First, I'm too soft. I let my parents convince me to take the Alice route, and when I told my dad this morning, he just advised me to continue, making the most of it.

This softness also leads to a weak spot whenever the assignment is competitive. And my AP Language class has many competitive assignments. Why, just today, we did a Socratic seminar, in which points are awarded for asking good questions and giving intelligent input.

The problem is, I come out of those things more confused than when I go in, regardless of whether I'm commenting or questioning. Today was particularly bad. I shut down a quarter of the way in. Almost dang fell asleep, too (but no one noticed).

Which leads to my final grievance. Writing. AP Language is about writing. Most of the stuff I do links back somehow to writing.

However, I really suck at writing essays for that class. There are some finesses that aren't sinking in very well. And you know the way better students that I mentioned? Yeah. We have at least two of them in that class alone.

I dream of having a really successful and moving fic. I also dream about writing a novel or two and getting published someday. However, in light of some of the sheer genius writing I've seen in my years, I feel less and less capable of something that detailed, that well-planned, that good.

But it's all I really care about doing in the end. After all, amidst the despair, bursts of inspiration pour out, and I keep the thoughts ready to etch down when the time comes. So I write anyway.

But the rest of it? In short:

FUCK.

MY.

LIFE.

Earlier, I had removed favorite deviations and collections for my Georgia Tech applications process in case any potentially sketchy material would show up.

Now I've put them back.

The kicker? I have no idea whether or not I made it. In fact, I think my application's still being reviewed.

And if I end up having to apply to more places, I will not be removing them again.

Why?

Because I shouldn't care. I don't care. I should be presenting a true image of myself, not a perfectionist facade. _{Besides, it's not like any of that's wrong...}

In fact... I'm actually feeling a bit better about the fic I brought to school freshman year! Because... because that was who I was! Sure, I faced the consequences, but I'd always felt proud of myself, in a way, for doing that, but I was never really sure why.

Now I do. Because for a moment, a fleeting fifteen minutes to a half-hour, I felt like I was really being myself: an enthusiatic fan. Perverted, yes, but enthusiastic. Unsupressed. Untamed. Free from rules.

Before anything, two conjectures must be made about the Internet and the people who use it.

-- Practical users most frequently do business or research via the Internet. Normal users may have accounts to more fun websites. Heavy users are the kind who constantly seek refuge in or spend almost all of their free time on the Internet. This distinction must be made, for the following rules apply differently to each type of user. Specifically, they hardly matter to practical users, can be of use to normal users, and are the law of the heavy users. Many of these rules are tailored for normal and heavy users.

-- The definition of "happiness," as used, does not strictly mean bliss. A wide range of emotions can be experienced through the Internet's infinite media. All users are encouraged to allow these emotions to affect them appropriately, as if they were real. In fact, making people think and feel is the entire purpose of the media of the Internet.

1. Happiness is mandatory on the Internet. It must be provided by those with the talent, ability, will and time; it must be received by all. Failure to be happy will result in a downward spiral of many kinds of despair, for the real world is a place too angry, sad and complicated. The only hope remaining lies in the Internet.

2. There are infinitely many places to gain this happiness. If a place on the Internet does not make you happy, you have every right to leave and seek another one.

3. There is such a thing as etiquette on the Internet. While there are different rules for every major website, the general consensus is to be polite and flock only to places where you will be happy (see Rule No. 2) so that there is no temptation to be cruel. This is important, for being cruel will disrupt the happiness on the Internet.

4. Most websites have rules, much like in the real world. Rules are meant to be followed if they can be properly enforced. If a rule is not properly enforced, then it is bendable. If you wish to bend a rule, do so -- but tell no one. It is your happiness, but you must protect it.

5. Intelligence is a prerequisite for acquiring maximum happiness. It is required to be polite. It is required for navigation. It is required for rule bending. The stupid do not lose their happiness or have it ruptured because an angry corner of the Internet or the real world caught them between jaws of justice. It is because they were so stupid that they gave themselves away to the wrong people, and were thus caught.

6. You have a right to happiness on the Internet -- but you have a responsibility to protect it. If you are rule bending, tell no one. If you feel some would disapprove of your actions, or of something you made, do not let them see. It is your happiness, but you must protect it.

7. Most in the real world will let you browse freely. However, some -- parents of adolescents, especially, because they are your parents -- will often feel wary of something you aspire to. This is natural. However, it is the single largest risk factor to your happiness, and you must protect your happiness. Tell the wary little and the nay-sayers nothing, and your happiness will be safe.

8. How to know for sure if you want to meet an Internet friend: If you do not need to evoke Rules No. 4 or 7, then you are able to meet them. Think of the few real-worlders you trust with everything. If you feel the same way or a similar way with your Internet friend, then you want to meet them. However, users are encouraged to be selective, lest you unintentionally compromise your real-world safety.

9. The real world will attempt to infringe on your right to happiness by creating daily obligations. It is known that some of these obligations -- which are not-so-daily -- are willingly embraced and enjoyed. These obligations are harmless -- so much so that they can hardly be thought to infringe on the right to happiness at all. _{Almost forgot to talk about this... -w-;}

So we went to the Tennessee Aquarium over at Chattanooga today. It was pretty neat.

Highlights included sightings of seahorses (from pregnant-looking potbellies to weed-dragons [the... the ones that look a bit like seaweed. I couldn't remember their true name for the life of me.] to teeny tiny Dwarfs), jellyfish (under a color-changing light!), otters, and penguins. Because Everything's Better With Penguins.

There were two touch tanks -- one for the lake sturgeon (an endangered species) and another for stingrays (which you could feed! But I was more interested in touching) and a small kind of shark (I was bad about species names today). ...My arm wasn't long enough to reach the shark. TwT

They even had a brief non-aquatic exhibit, where the second tank was actually located. There were two blue parrots just before the tank, and then there was a butterfly garden. They landed on people. I wasn't lucky enough to lure one myself, probably because I was rather brisk in my viewing of most of the exhibits. They even had a snake tank in one place and a few land turtles.

All in all, I recommend it.

_{Unfortunately, my enjoyment was initially disturbed by... an acquaintance who, um... doesn't quite get the social norms. As in, more socially inept than me. I wanted to spend the experience alone, but I didn't have the heart (or brains) to tell her because I wasn't sure if there was anyone else who she could walk with, and the fact that she constantly reaches out to people tells me that unlike me, she doesn't want to be alone. I managed to, um... *get away* just before entering the butterfly garden. I don't think it occurred to her that I even had a purpose; she just told me later that she thought one of us accidentally missed the other and that she looked at the rest of the exhibits with a group of mutual acquaintances. YeahIfeltkindabadaboutdoingit.}

We went to a nearby mall for lunch before going home. I bought myself some food in the real world, without my parents around, for the first time in my life. It felt pretty cool, though having so many teenagers around made it similar to the cafeteria, so it just got a bit annoying all over again.

I sat near more acquaintances and classmates, but still off to the side, where I could think on my own.

It felt good, just sitting there, by myself, eating the food I chose and paid for, thinking about what I wanted to think.

I pictured myself years later, doing the same thing, thinking about what I wanted to do next, and what I would do for the rest of that night, and the day after...

Life on my own is going to be epic.

So yeah, after a month that was kinda me being lazy and kinda school being turbulent, I finally got something new up.

Man... I haven't even been able to play Team Fortress 2 in two weeks. I do plan to do so later this afternoon.

I suppose I should do even a little work on my Senior Project, too. I have my story in mind; all I need to so is shape it out in Alice, which'll be the bulk of it.

And... yeah. I guess I just mostly felt like updating.

So I nabbed this from on a whim. It seems interesting, so... yeah. Here I go.

NOTICE:: If you're curious about doing this, I would strongly recommend grabbing the questions -- and the link to the key -- without reading the key or my answers. They might influence what you say, and this has to be all you!

1.) Imagine a desert landscape. It's very simple . . . horizon, sand, sky, whatever you see when you think of a desert.

It's... relatively flat, the sand is, though dunes are far more evident in the distance. The sky actually has one or two clouds, and it is bright and otherwise clear. I think I see an oasis in the distance...


2.) In this desert there is . . . a cube! What does the cube look like? What's it made of (if you know)? What color is it? How big? Is it sitting on the sand, or in some other position? How close or far away is it?

It rises, rotating, from the sands as I pass the oasis. Streams of the dirt fly off its top surface, falling in neat spiral patterns. It's huge, and off-white -- it's been discolored from resting so long.


3.) In this desert there is also a ladder. Where is it (in relation to the cube)? What is it made of? What position is it in? Does it have many rungs? A few rungs?

The cube stops rotating, and this ladder appears, resting against its left side. Because the cube is very large and tall, the ladder is tall, with many rungs. Its wood is dark. I don't know what kind it is. It's just begging me to climb...


4.) In this desert there now appears . . . a horse. Where is the horse? What color is it? What is it doing? Does it have on a saddle or bridle, or not?

An unbridled palomino thoroughbred appears from somewhere in the distance, towards the left side of the cube and ladder. It gives a whinny, trotting in my direction. I can't take my eyes off of it.

5.) Now, somewhere in the desert there is a storm. What kind of storm is it? Where is it? And does it affect the cube, the ladder, the horse, or not?

More towards the right side of the cube, a sudden and immense thunderstorm gathers. Its clouds are so dark, I am convinced they would more or less blot out the sun if they came all the way here. The cube stands. The horse is frightened and runs off. I don't want it to. I want it to stay with me. I try to reach out to it, but it's too late. He's run off. I consider going after him. But I don't.

I am frightened by the storm's power, but not entirely. Rain actually soars down from this thunderhead. The ladder falls over in a great push of wind. I intend to stand it back up later, though I'm not entirely sure I could do that on my own. At least, not easily. I am now wet, but not overly scared. The cube still stands. It begins to spin again, more slowly.

I look towards the sky, squinting against the water. Lightning weaves its way throughout. I am soothed.

6.) Finally, somewhere in the desert are flowers. Where are they (in relation to the cube, ladder, horse, storm)? What kind are they? Are they many or few? Scattered or clustered?

I look towards the direction from where the storm came. I see the flowers, far off, one good-sized cluster of mostly yellow wildflowers, though dotted with various shades of pink. I approach and feel the foliage. Thick, tough, but surprisingly smooth. They will endure the storm. I am confident of this.

Today was one of the best Sundays ever.

We went out today, mostly because my brother's begun to take some... Boy Scout-related... Catechism classes. Yeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhh, I don't know. I mean, he says that he's doing it because he wants to, so I guess I shouldn't be freaking out or anything.

BUT! In other news, *EspeonStar almost came over today. Almost. Our set time was a bit late, though, so in the end we had to postpone. But I've secured the knowledge that we are so doing something this week (because we so are, right, Mikomi? Right!?). Earliest available day being Wednesday. So yeah.

And theeeeen... I've finally submitted my Georgia Tech application~! No more worries over that~! Now, I just need to wait. |3

Finally, I got the full, automatically updating version of Team Fortress 2 on Steam. With my own money.

If you don't know about/play/like TF2, you may disregard this journal.

Well, as you've probably seen, I've done a written interview with , the creator of the well-loved TF2 fancomic, Cuanta Vida. If you haven't seen it, you can go take a look in her gallery.

Additionally, let me take this opportunity to go on about a Crowning Moment of Awesome I just had.

So, I've taken to playing TF2. However, like with many games, I kinda suck at it. Like, I clearly recall racking up 23 deaths in a single game. *facepalm*

However, something miraculous happened today.

I was on 2Fort -- your standard Capture the Flag map, if you don't know. As a Scout. Because.

Aaaaand... well, I tried to rush the enemy basement, which is always my first instinct as a Scout. However, I ran into no troubles trying to get to the enemy's intelligence.

I grabbed it. A first. I was feeling pretty proud of myself then.

Then I just had to make it back to my own base.

I just kept running. Soon, I could see the bridge. My heart pounded. I leaped into the canal, intending to take the same way home that I'd taken into enemy territory.

The pounding grew. A RED Demoman tried to attack me. I backed off and heard his death cry seconds later. A teammate -- I don't know who -- had taken him down for me. I could see the basement entrance. No more interference. I ran faster and faster.

Then I saw the desk with our own intelligence safe and sound.

I did it. My first capture.

I freaking cheered, you guys.

I went on to take two more captures, one that won us the first round, and the first of the second round.

Then Brother came in and took over. Lo and behold, he's back on Call of Duty. Psssh.

All in all, today was a good day, and I'm a happy Gancena.

So yeah, everyone should realize that "your" and "you're" are two different words, with "your" being a possessive pronoun as in "your face" or "your brother" and "you're" being a contraction (shorthand version, if someone doesn't know... somehow ) for "you are." Meaning that "you're sweet" and "you are sweet" mean exactly the same thing. _{Just saying in case someone needs a recap, somehow.}

There are people who probably don't know the difference for whatever reason: Maybe English isn't their first language, or it -- somehow -- wasn't very well-instilled in one's mind during grade school.

There are people who do know the difference, but don't care. These guys are the most annoying ones.

Then there are people, like myself, who know the difference, care, and do their best to make sure that others do, too.

And now I've got a good damn example with which to drill this into the first two types' heads. Especially the second one. ...In fact, this probably shouldn't be used on the English-learners. Just telling them straight up should do the trick with students. Unless they're still dumb. Then you can use this as a last resort.

_{Now I'm rambling.} ANYWAY.

If anyone you know confuses "your" and "you're" quite often, PASS THIS ON. It should get the message across.

I felt better, more confident at school today. Yeah, I feel like I can do this OK.

But what's really making me happy right now is the Mortal Kombat Blackout forums. I've gotten to geek out so much lately. It's amazing.

Usually, I act more like a lurker than an active member, only commenting when I know for sure what I want to say.

But ever since they added topics for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 9, there's been speculation and theories to no end, and I'm happy to say I've been putting a lot into those conversations. It's what I do.

There's even a newer member floating around, bringing up questions about the story so far that I've been able to answer! It only makes me feel awesome~

Well. Today was the first day of my senior year of high school.

And already, I have my grievances.

First... they changed my homeroom, you guys. Just... out of nowhere. I'm glad that I still ended up with a teacher I already knew, but still... I'm sad. It's not the same. Even besides that, I'm sure I've lost some fic-writing time. I'd even planned on trying to write a scene out this morning. Didn't happen.

Then... The idiots I took AP classes in hopes of getting the hell away from still float around in my schedule! Worse... one of the worst offenders has almost the exact same schedule as me. Thank the Elder Gods for Newspaper; that's the only difference we have.

My math teacher... I'd had him before in my freshman year, but he's still kind of intimidating. The fact that Mom doubts he'll ever change... does not help! T_T I'm scared...

In fact... when I got to AP Language -- which I was more or less cornered into switching into, by the way -- I thought I was going to have a panic attack. Part of this teacher's technique... it's essentially to make us feel bad so that we push ourselves harder, you guys. I mean, I've heard stories that it works, but I feel like a crapsack now. Explain to me how I'm not going to come out of this class unscathed, you guys.

...I feel like I got fucked somehow. Shafted. And now there's no way out.

I just got over my suicidal mindset days ago. I do not feel like relapsing, thank you.

But I still want out. I don't know what to do.

It's even worse that I'm constantly told that this year's supposed to be the most fun. I don't see how. I never did.

There's my classes, the Project (though I can say I'm... relatively secure in that regard)... and what? What else is there? Seriously, what?

Okay. I am going to sound like I'm rambling here -- several times -- but please just hear me out. It's all important.

First, I feel a bit bummed right this minute. I just tried to entertain my dad by sharing a story I found on Fmylife.com. This was only about an hour ago. I've been using most of this time to write.

His response: "Why are you reading that crap?"

Two things I know I did wrong:
1. Sharing a story that was a bit raunchy to begin with.
2. Sharing a story from Fmylife at all. It's a younger people site. Or at least a not-so-easily-offended people site.

And then, he asked me how often I go on it, and what I could be doing instead. I... didn't tell him that I'm trying to take in the entire site. Since he didn't seem so... keen on the idea, I understated my actions as a defense. I mentioned my writer's slump, from which I still suffer a bit, despite something good I'll talk about momentarily.

Then he asked if I've done any preliminary work on my Senior Project, since the current plan involves a program with which I'm unfamiliar.

If he knew about the thing I'll talk about momentarily, I would say that might have been a bit bold of him, and not in a good way...

I've been doing the defense thing since the fic-you-know-what. I hate referring to it, but it looks like I'll be measuring my life in pre- and post-you-know-what... Well, dang.

I mean... ever since the you-know-what, I feel like my dad has felt that everything I do outside of school is crap.

Now, note: When I say "crap" in the following lines, I don't mean in terms of well-done or sloppily-done. I mean in terms of pure and dirty.

On the day of the you-know-what, he called the collection of fic -- much of which was actually safe -- that I carried around in the months beforehand "crap."

He just called FML "crap."

I had to convince him to take me to the Watchmen movie even though he'd read part of the book. He implied that it was crap, too!

...Maybe he's just shocked that I suddenly lost that sort of innocence.

...Doesn't make it any less hurtful, though.

I've tried bonding with him over a couple other things. As I've mentioned once or twice before, I was sincerely hoping that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe would bring us back together for sure, but...

The only thing we can ever really talk about without me tensing up or pressing something on him is school. That kills me.

But anyway, second thing.

SPM: The acronym for Super Paper Mario.

Which I beat just yesterday, minutes before noon.

It! Was! Awesome!

Just... Just... YES!

...And the little image that showed over the words "THE END"... I can't say much due to spoilers. In fact, the elation it brought is indescribable, too.

It also effectively leads in to my next point. Give me a few more paragraphs.

Um... Okay, so maybe I need to spoil a little. No major stuff, though.

See... after each chapter in that game, the player sees, among other things, a text-only dialogue between two people -- lovers. Timpani, a human lady, and Blumiere of the Tribe of Darkness.

Think Romeo and Juliet. Well... except for the very ending, which, of course, you gotta beat the game to see.

My mind drifted last night while listening to this song... over and over again. It eventually landed on my fic, For Them, To Them, which I know has been dormant for a while, too.

Anyway... as said over there, Scorpion has a significant part to play in it. Every intent MK fan knows his story, and I paid it mind in FT,TT.

In canon, Scorpion lost his family -- his wife and son -- to Quan Chi's filthy hands.

In FT,TT, I've changed the means so that it was not murder, but the fact is, he still loses them anyway.

The form it took is what my mind linked to Timpani and Blumiere's story, even if they're not exactly the same.

Then, I had an epiphany -- one that had me in tears, on and off, for a good hour or so.

Title used because I might as well say that that's all this is. A cry moar journal.

Unfortunately, it's not about fandom or anything like that. I kinda wish it was, though, so this would be a little easier to talk about.

In my room, there's this ottoman (footstool, if you don't know). I can take off its top like a lid and hide stuff in it. I never told anyone about it because frankly, I kept forgetting just what I hid in there.

Most of the time, anyway.

So what do I hide in there?

Answer: Anything and everything in my room that's even remotely related to religion. Why? If there's no religious bias in my room, I feel better about completely ignoring the church.

Between you guys and I... scary as it may sound to some -- and, note, I've never told anyone that I was going to do this... I was actually considering burning that ottoman for my eighteenth birthday (in secret, of course), to celebrate my complete and utter break from my Roman Catholic childhood and crisis-wracked adolescence. Perhaps even from my past as a whole.

Not that it's ever going to happen now...

...My mom opened the lid to that ottoman, you guys. Right in front of me.

Repeat: Mom opened my secret dang ottoman while I was there.

I was mortified, regardless of how much I showed it.

It gets worse: She saw everything I put in there. Torn pages from workbooks? Fine, actually. We could just throw them out. My Bible -- the one I've had since, like, second grade? A little disappointed. A brass cross my grandmother sent over for Confirmation. I should never be rid of it, she said.

She wasn't surprised.

So then came the sermon lecture... I don't even remember half of it. Automatic lecture reflex after... well, you know... I suppose.

The point? She (or Dad, depending on who tries to convince me that religion isn't all that bad at the time) always asks if I feel better after this sort of "talk." Naturally, she did so this time, too. And naturally, I said yes, I was.

A total lie, of course. I felt worse.

I'll get over it within the hour, though.

It's just that this isn't the first time this has happened, so I felt I needed to expose it. So I am.

That, and... it was my freaking secret ottoman, man... Come on...

Okay, so this is more ventilation maintenance than anything.

In regards to For Them, To Them: Progress, unfortunately, remains slow. I mean, I've only got four more scenes to write, even though all but one are long, but I can't get myself to open the document.

To make it worse on my writing as a whole, my guilt over not doing working on FT,TT is hindering me from trying to etch away at the next chapter of A Foreigner's Tale, and I've had it on the brain more for about a day now.

So... I've decided that I'll just tell you guys that the next deviation I post may be one or it may be the other, and go from there.

Unfortunately, I still haven't been in that much of a writing mood at all. *sigh*

I'm trying, though... So until next chapter, whatever work it's for, you guys.

First things first, this is more of a venting journal than anything.

Now...

I've felt very pressed these past few days.

My great-uncle, a priest, is currently at our house.

For the past week, I've been scrambling to make my room presentable and clean -- it's just how my family gets whenever a guest comes.

I still haven't finished.

Then... we've been out a lot lately. This plus my recent habit of sleeping in does not help my writing time.

Then, there are the fics themselves.

I seriously want to get something done for AFT, since it's the bigger series, but I've also got to pay attention to For Them, To Them, especially since I've got some people watching for it.

Now, -- right now -- my parents want me to go into the pool with them and my brother and this great-uncle.

I can. I probably should. But then I thought a little and had a spaz attack which led to this journal.

...I don't want to take my scorpion necklace off again.

Seriously! Mama had me replace it for Mikomi's graduation, she had me replace it for Jersey Boys, and now I realize that it's probably not the best idea to wear it into chlorinated water.

...Though I can hear my brother playing his games again in the computer room. I might earn another save here, but still.

Ugh... Overall, I just don't feel like I'm in tip-top shape right now. My stomach hurts a little from eating, I've got a messed up sleep cycle, the house feels lightly crowded, I haven't spoken to Mikomi on the phone in days, and I'm still not getting much writing done. Which is always, always sad when it's in the middle of the dang summer, which is the best writing time in the world.

Goddammit.

It's like I said on the Edenia poster. I was playing Mortal Kombat: Unchained again, and I finally, finally made it to Edenia... and was completely captivated.

Shortly after, Mom came home and reminded me that I should clean my room sometime this week. After she left, my mind conjured the caption, and I thought:

So I grabbed the images from Mortal Kombat Blackout and googled some poster makers and found this one:

First of all, it has been a year since *EspeonStar and ~AMJZero met face-to-face for the first time. Mikomi has commemorated this event with this lovely little piccie:

Then, my mom turned 44 today. Happy Birthday Mommy~

Now... um... I had another little realization today. In regards to Mortal Kombat, yes.

See... I was playing MK:Unchained -- its Konquest, specifically.

Throughout, you, as Shujinko, enter the Netherrealm twice. I just completed the second entry and had to stop because I got so awed by this certain rush of emotion that I lost my focus when I returned to Outworld.

See... Mikomi, I've already called about this... I ran into Scorpion. And he trained Shujinko (and I, as the player).

He kept talking about his anger, which is understandable. All I felt was glee. Come on! Training! With Scorpion! Epic!

Then, when it was done, my objective was to locate -- yes -- the sorcerer Quan Chi himself! Once located, a fierce fight ensued.

That was when the rage kicked in.

I'm serious here. I've been talking and thinking about Scorpion's revenge against Quan Chi for months, but it's felt like I've been thinking and talking about it for years.

But now I've experienced it. I sincerely feel like I've been part of it.

And afterwards, I kinda hoped I would be able to locate them again, just to pick another fight with the sorcerer. One simply isn't enough for the things he's done.

But I knew my time there was done.

As I made for Outworld for the next objective, I felt all tense and shaky. Even my heartbeat seemed different... it had that tension, and I wondered... I wondered if that was how a spectre's heart beat. With that angry tension.

I then felt like I understood -- truly understood -- what this conflict meant, and what anger and vengeance were, and Scorpion himself.

I felt like I understood...

...My God, I can't wait to do all that in a second playthrough. I should like to do it again.

...Well, dang. Can't say writing's rolling along very well...

Addendum: Loved it.

Aaaaand, um... Yeah. To sum it up: The musical's based off of the story of a (for real!) group called The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi, and Bob Gaudio.

Officially, the play was two acts. I say it was four distinctly labeled parts: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

Spring, narrated by Tommy, tells of the origins of the group, especially Frankie.

Summer, narrated by Bob, tells of the group's greatest period, of when it blossomed.

Fall, narrated by Nick, tells how the group began to fall apart.

Winter, narrated by Frankie, tells of how the whole concept of the original Four Seasons just sort of... froze over, along with... a couple other things in his life.

I noted that Spring and Fall -- transitional seasons -- were short compared to Summer and Winter.

Then it ended with a little final monologue from each of them, in the same order. Very, very lovely.

Oh, and...

...after my alarm went off and I fell asleep again. It was actually pretty awesome.

The premise: I, as an older Gancena, was acting as a vigilante detective in this small town where it was either raining or cloudy all the dang time.

The case? Well... Everybody everybody everybody knows I've referred to 's fic, "From a Woman's Point of View," several times already. (Found here: [link])

In this odd continuity, Scorpion and genderbent!Sub-Zero are married, and I was really close to both of them. Which was nice.

However, I was constantly on edge because a scandal had rocked our town: Subbie had been arrested for an assault against... some young lady socialite. Like, the daughter of a prominent family in the town. She was like... Jane or Janey... Spitzer or Spiller or something.

I was convinced that Sub-Zero had been framed, because I knew she'd never do such a thing! I was determined to prove it. I moved across town, setting up base at a roofless flat, away from my mother. I don't know why it stood out, but I do remember having lived alone with my mother. While in my 20s. And not minding.

Anyway, I remember being at the detention center where Subbie was being held at one point and getting very emotional (within the bounds of the dream).

The most striking part of the whole dream came when I spoke to an older lady socialite -- one Miss Fey. She had some kind of private plan to keep the town secure and crime-free, and to do so, she had a copy of every surveillance tape ever since she made the plan. This means she had the copy I needed most: the one that proved Subbie's innocence by showing that...

Ms. Fey was very emotional upon handing me a copy of the copy (which was about the size of a DS card). She had seemed upset by the footage, and warned me several times that it would undoubtedly affect me.

The next (and final) part of the dream involved me speaking with her assistant so that I could view the footage (I didn't know how to work the thing myself...). I could make a fic out of this. It was that clear.

Crowning Moment of Awesome (in which I, Gancena, probably lucked out): Kumari vs. Cynthia's Garchomp. The first Ice Fang froze the dang guy, and, naturally, the second one finished him (you guys totally saw the use of 'finish' coming, didn't you?).

Crowning Moment of Lucky (but not quite as awesome): Bubastis vs. Cynthia's Togekiss. After we both used Full Restores, it was an exchange of Discharge and Aura Sphere against our favor. Suddenly, Togekiss was paralyzed by one of the Discharge attacks! I took the opportunity, and the lower speed was enough to let Bubastis make the final strike first!

Crowning Moment of Saving: Vs. Cynthia's Lucario. Initially, Hinoka was supposed to make the finishing moves against Lucario and subsequently Roserade. However, Lucario knew Stone Edge, which KO'd Hinoka in one shot. Panicked, I sent Ashen out, hoping his Close Combat would be enough of a deterrent until I could get Hinoka revived. Turns out, it KO'd Lucario, and then Roserade, the final Pokemon, was easy prey for Aerial Ace.

In Pearl, my Staraptor, Wingstar, does not know Close Combat. That means if this were Pearl, this would not have happened. So it's a crowning moment.

I'd already obtained the National Dex in Pearl, but it wasn't with my team. I borrowed some Pokemon from my cousin due to my overexcitement about getting the National Pokedex. My Pearl team isn't even at level 50. So in my book, it didn't really count.

Meaning their Platinum counterparts could, right now, kick their asses. Hard.

I feel so awesome.

Yesterday was the last day of school~! Yay~

And today was *EspeonStar's graduation~!

I got to usher. I stood at the door for an hour, handing out programs. Worth it, though. It was all for Mikomi.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I hit my head yesterday. It bled.

So naturally, I panicked a little and ran to my bathroom -- I'd never dealt with a bleeding wound before.

When I got there, though, I thought to myself: "This behavior is very unfitting of a kombatant." Which I especially considered due to AFT being a self-insert fic and all.

I got better after running water over it, applying an ice pack and taking some Tylenol.

It's almost completely gone already!

But how I did it... oh, God, it's so stupid.

I... well...

I was watching the Mortal Kombat movie. This segment, specifically: [link]

During the Johnny Cage vs. Scorpion fight (begins at 1:30), I couldn't help but imitate the former. (I was home alone and bored. I get very animated when I'm bored and watching things.)

Observe the part at about 2:40 where Johnny leans out of the way to evade Scorpion's spear.

Yes, I imitated that, too. And hit the culprit chair.

Yeah, it hurt.

But like I said, I got better.

So yeah.

Good News: Presario can be fixed, if we want.

Bad News: It'd be uber-expensive. Like, $900. We could buy a new laptop with that money.

Better News: We did.

Say hello to Silver, an HP G60 named for the color of its keyboard! Featuring an Energy Star certification, a separate number keypad (which Presario lacked), and Microsoft Office already installed thanks to my dad!



I'm totally keeping Presario's husk, though. Just for sentiment. Maybe I'll learn how to fix him myself someday! That'd actually be pretty cool...

I wanted to try and breed my male Gyarados, Kumari, and my female Steelix, Jasmine.

I was pretty dissappointed when I found out they weren't in the same Egg group.

I still ship them.

Then I looked at my male Rapidash, Hinoka, and my female Luxray, Bubastis.

They are in the same Egg group, but the Day-Care Man says they don't seem to like each other very much... at least not in that way.

But they're in the same dang group, so I'm holding out. Probably for a day at most, since I need to get to training for the Pokemon League.

I don't really ship them, but I thought the attempted cross would be interesting...

Am I strange?

I do expect responses to this, even though you guys won't really know what I mean -- especially in the first part. If I'm vague, then I mean to be vague. Just a warning. Here it go...

It really seems like very few things in this world matter to me, and a lot of them are out my reach right now, and I don't want them to be.

The one that is is school-related: my grades. My scores. They're just freaking numbers. How did this world train me to care so much about freaking numbers?

I get so lonely sometimes... Mikomi, RF, you guys are great; I never feel like that around you two. But when alone, I just wish I had a little companion that would rarely if ever leave my side, so that I would always have someone...

Maybe that's why I love Pokemon so much. Maybe that's why I enjoyed The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, and especially loved the dog Almondine.

I guess I just want the Almondine to my Edgar Sawtelle. The Bubastis to my Adrian Veidt (except I wouldn't... yeah... at the end...). The Pikachu to my Ash Ketchum.

The companions are always favorite characters of mine.

So I've been kind of away for two days.

I am currently on my mother's laptop.

Presario wouldn't start up Thursday night.

Today, Mom and Dad took him to the Besy Buy to get him looked at...

...And the damage might have been in the hard drive.

So we got a new blank one. If that is the problem, then it will be solved.

Unfortunately, there are two little setbacks:

1. Any files on the hard drive are pretty much dead. Luckily, I'll recover the ones I REALLY want easily.
2. There's no Microsoft Office. I have to wait until freaking Monday to get it reinstalled.

So this means that AFT will be further delayed... that, and one of my assignments will be a slight pain.

But at least my Internet browsing should be back in line. We have yet to test all this, but...

UPDATE: It wasn't the hard drive. My parents have him at the Best Buy again right now. T_T

I'm also gonna pat myself on the back a bit here for avoiding temptation: you can find these endings on multiple websites, but I stuck it out and got them all on my own~!

Now... I have long since decided that at some point in time, I will definitely be writing an additional AFT book to encompass this plotline. I'll also be planning a sequel for it.

Some of these guys just won't stop their antics. Which really shouldn't be that surprising.

In fact, I'mma just tally up the endings here in Good News vs. Bad News...

Just saw this on Yahoo! I'm so happy~

You know, I've noticed that all throughout US history, the more northern states -- especially New England -- have seemed to get it right, even relatively so. Think of it.

When slavery was the focal point of political platforms, which states let them go free? The northern ones. When the Civil Rights Acts were passed, which governors would stand in front of the doors to universities in attempt to keep black students from registering? Those of Alabama and Mississippi, as far as I know -- southern states both. And now, what two things do Massachusetts and Vermont have in common?

One of them should become obvious upon clicking the link.

The other? Northern/New England states.

It's a very interesting trend to notice.

...And this is probably the closest thing to a US history lesson devART will ever see out of me.

The funny thing is, I'm still Georgia-raised. Except... I was born in California, lived out my earlier childhood in Arizona and Florida and am of Puerto Rican descent. So... sometimes, I don't know what to answer when asked where I'm from. O.o But that's a tangent.

I just had a strong realization. Like, right just now.

I'm very certain most of you guys are aware of what I think of Raiden and Scorpion. I love Raiden, and Scorpion is awesomeness in a yellow mask.

Lately, I've been alienating myself from my family. Like, more. This feels especially so with my dad. Twice now it feels like we were getting somewhere, though. Once with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and again with Watchmen. It's not his fault that I feel the distance, though. I'm fully responsible, and fully aware of that.

I'm very certain I turn to the aforementioned kombatants to fill that damn void.

I recognize that this is likely a problem. I understand that if it is a problem, it's a big problem. I'm in a very stable household. Very stable. Any sort of familial angst is unheard of in this house.

Yet I'm distant.

To add to it, I know that this is a problem, but I don't want to do anything about it.

I'll say it again, in a different phrasing.

I think I have a familial-emotional problem, and I don't want to solve it.

I did want to at least talk about it, though. So I guess that might count for something.

I'll definitely be talking about this to my psychologist next week.

I dunno. I got a little stupid with that song today.

So... just got out of a dang skillet nap.

And... yeah, tonight, I was scheduled to go see the musical at school, but my mom and brother and I were really tired, so we decided to go watch the Closing Night tomorrow. So... Mikomi, you going?

And, with all hope, I should be forreally finishing the next chapter of AFT tonight. At last~!

While I expect the chapter after that to be completed far more quickly, I also expect a school-related delay. Let's just say that AP Biology has a lot of content that can scarcely be covered during the year, so we need a few good, thorough projects to make sense of things. That, and Spring Break's coming in about two weeks. Neither the teacher nor the student has much choice, and I understand, so I'll be investing a lot of brain power into that.

As you can see, I'm feeling fine.

First, I've been freaking tackling Arcade ladders in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. On the DC side, I've done everyone except for Lex Luthor, Captain Marvel, and Darkseid. Once they're done, I'll tackle the rest of the MK side, so that still stands at just Scorpion and Raiden.

Second, I am such a freaking latecomer to all the cool things. But we went to Barnes and Noble today and picked up a copy of Watchmen. I've heard glorious things about it, especially from the Newspaper staff at school, so I've finally gotten around to checking it out! I've only read through the first three chapters, but so far, I think's it's freaking awesome! Next weekend? Oh, yeah. We're gonna see the movie.

Finally, despite excess sleep, I took another dang skillet nap. XD But I've noticed an interesting trend in my sleep lately.

If I think of Raiden before falling asleep, it tends to be deeper. If I think of him while in bed during the day, intending not to sleep, I often sleep anyway, and just as deeply. My naps used to be lighter -- I could tell because I dreamed.

So yeah.

So... it'll be showertime shortly, so after that... I'll probably write some more AFT or play another arcade ladder or two before 10:00, when it's time to talk to RF. Then on Sunday... more Arcades in the morning, and I'll decide what else I want to do as the day goes along.
