It's not a wacom, but I think it's ok. Got it from a woot.com deal. Its from DigiPen, 5.5x4. It was only $20, and that was the perfect price to see if I was going to even like these things. I held out for so long because I was afraid of being disappointed and spending so much.

You can see my first attempt at drawing with the tablet here: [link]

That is 1 and a half days of practice you're seeing. My very first attempt was drawing wolverines head. I got a bit nervous because I didn't think I was going to like this. The cursor was so jumpy and sensitive, I was already thinking of regretting purchasing this.

But after a few more sketches (I did more, just not posted here) I started getting used to it. I still have to adjust to finishing up drawings. Very minuscule touch ups can get a bit twitchy. Plus I have to buy some grip for this pen, seems too slick when drawing for a long period of time. I'll try to start working on some real pieces soon.

I also tested out animating in easytoon. A walking test. Something like this would of taken me all day on a mouse. I'm looking forward to doing bigger animations.

You can check out the test animation here: [link]

I didnt even realize it was near the 50k mark. It's just under a hundred left. I've never done this kiriban thing before, I just know if someone takes a screenshot of my pageview hitting 50,000, I do a drawing for them.

So yeah. Screencap the 50,000. First person to send me a note of the screencap gets fanart drawing of any videogame character. (keep in mind I use a mouse, so dont go that crazy )
Update:Here's the video clip. [link]
***

Here's the backstory:
A couple nights ago Conan did a bit on College Mascots. One of them was a manatee doing a web cam show. And Pender (the bald band member) was watching the manatee on a laptop. Conan just ad libbed "Penders on hornymanatee.com". The next night Conan said NBC had to buy the rights to that site since it was said on the air. So they made a mock porn site with the manatee and asked people to send in submissions.

I did mine last night. I was shocked to see it on the website. Then I was wondering if it was shown on Conan O'Brien. I asked some message boards and people confirmed that my drawing was on the show!

This is the site hornymanatee.com with my artwork: [link]

They had to re size on that site it so here's the original.

I still haven't seen the show yet as I type this. But i'm gonna record this with my camera. So yeah..i'm a part of the Cone-Zone legacy!

And since Spyed was nice enough to give me a sub for 3 months I should at least take advantage of some of the features. I really have nothing important to say here. I just always had this idea for the header and footer for the journal, but couldn't do it without a sub'. This took me a lot longer than I thought. It wont sync up the first time you see it, so after the gifs load up, you can refresh and it'll make more sense.

Also, this sub got me motivated to do some more art. I'm working on a few pieces that I'll probably finish this week.
Warhawk soldier (me want Warhawk on PS3...bad). I drew this in Photoshop with a mouse. If I knew it was going to be printed in a mag I would've added more to it, at least a background. By the way everyone should buy (or better yet subscribe) to Hardcore Gamer Magazine. It's like the comfort food of video game mags. It's made by the same people that brought you Gamefan. The Graveyard section is my favorite (now called R.I.P), which write up about older classic games from the nes era.

I went to the Videogames Live concert last night at the Hollywood Bowl. Man what an awesome show. They started off with Pong playing on the screen. It was silent and you just hear the bleeps and boops of the ball going back and forth. Then the orchastra starts playing and blends in with the Pong sounds, it sounded so damn cool. Then they start showing the evolution of games while the orchastra keeps getting louder and louder. Great opening.

They brought out Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear creator) to introduce the first piece, Metal Gear Solid theme and Alert music. While they were playing they had some guy dressed as Snake being chased by a gaurd. The gaurd had an exclamation point over his head that lit up red XD Snake then climbs a rope and repels down overthe orchastra and ends with him hiding in a cardboard box. That was just the first song!

The rest of the show was amazing. They started the Sonic the Hedgehog music with the familiar "SEGA" voice when you turn on the game. Warcraft music was so loud and unbeleivably cool with the vocals. They ended the show with Halo, which was a great ending, even though there was some glitches.

The most fun I had was meeting composers and game developers like Hideo Kojima. I was first in line. he smiled as I handed him a NES cart of the original Metal Gear. Yuji Naka, he was pleased that I was wearing a Dreamcast shirt (the shirt I got at the Dc launch) and was surprised as I gave him my DS to be signed. And also Marty O'Donnell (Halo music).

But the best part was meeting Stan "the man" Lee! I was first in line again and I finally got to get his autograph and get a pic with him. I had so many other chances in the past but was never able to get it, until now. He signed my Marvels #0, which was already signed by Alex Ross. And also two Marvel Universe series 1 cards, Hulk & Spider-man.

Here's a pic of all the stuff I got signed: [link]

This concert is on tour so check to see if they're playing in your area. Link here: [link]
(Just a note, each state will have different developers for signings)

And i'll be going back to the Bowl in September for a John Williams concert

It then asked if I wanted to make my stuff available for prints. Is this even worth it? All my stuff are mostly animations, not sure how you print that on a mouse pad. Do people make a lot of money seling these prints?
DID YOU KNOW? NINTENDO DS FANS USE TOUCH SCREEN TO CREATE POCKET PICASSOS

March 30, 2005

The touch screen of Nintendo DS™ has created a legion of pocket Picassos. Around the world, artistic Nintendo DS owners have contributed to image galleries that capture the temporary art they created using the system's built-in PictoChat™ chatting and drawing program. PictoChat was designed to send wireless messages between Nintendo DS owners, but users are turning the touch-screen into a high-tech canvas.

Some of the images show simple scenes, while others depict video game and comic book characters in great detail. A variety of galleries can be seen at online fan sites like ndsart.net or in the discussion boards of nintendo.com.

"The creativity shown by these artists illustrates the innovation and new thinking Nintendo DS was designed to inspire," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Nintendo DS fires the imagination with its dual screens -- a touch screen to create the art and a second to display it."

Pretty cool. I hope this will push Nintendo into releasing some kind of Mario Paint software for the DS.
