I was called for Jury Duty today, but they didn't need me. While I was waiting I wrote some letters (on aktual paper with stampz and stuff) and drew a fairy that may or may not end up posted.

I don't think I am doing NaNoWriMo, but if you are I heartily encourage you - GO YOU GO! I have in fact been trying to draw Nyc (my screen name) in a way consistent enough to repeat. I have had the avatar for years but never cemented her looks (well they are consistent in my head. But please don't go in there.)

Yesterday I got 2G for my PC so now it has 3G, so I may reload Rappelz. Right now I am in a coffee shop (with a life-size statue of Spiderman... for some reason [link] ).

Ok enough rambling.

Actually it had more plot than just that - there was a team of scientists from the future who went back to this era to unleash a device that would grant superpowers to a team of people who would combat the coming catastrophe. So it had a "cliche sort of plot" which isn't bad for a dream. But I spent the whole dream arguing with the scientists because I couldn't fly right. (They said it was just in my head, so helpful.)

Two: There are a bunch (as in, at least four) of video games where I have hit a boss fight and can't get past it. ARRRGH!

Why don't you tell me your most frustrating game stories?
They don't have to be video games - you can tell me about the time you knocked over the chess board, got wood when you wanted sheep, or rolled a natural 1.

The games I am currently stuck in are:
A) Aquaria - I can't get past the "bubble cavern" crab or lobster, that sits on the roof. Arrgh, my reflexes fail me!

B) Finsl Fantasy IV - I am battling Golbez, and Rydia swoops in to save the day, and instead dies. Also I didn't know I was supposed to get "dual cast" so I may have to start over to get that. Arrgh!

C) Etrian Odyssey - I think I am stuck on "Annihilate the Forest Folk" - I put that one aside so long I don't even remember.

D) Sacred - I cannot kill the dragons! And all the levels scale with you, so you can't even go grind levels and come back stronger! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!

If you don't have a frustrating story, tell me a happy or funny one instead!

Here is a short funnier story:
I was playing a MUD sort of game (online multiplayer text game) and cast teleport, and ended up in a locked room on the other side of the continent. D'oh.

Yay! I do not have to wear the ugly shoe on my left foot. Which is good. It was nasty to have to wear the same shoe out running around, walking, fishing, shopping, at work, in the car, then to church on Sunday. Eew.

Also I have at least two sketches of Spindrift in the works, since I haven't posted any for a long time - one is a colored update of a scrap that I said I would finish, once upon a time. You can even guess which one, if you really want to.

On the "comic that does not yet exist":
There is a high probability that I will remove all the "alien bits" from the character, and perhaps try to think of some "DIFFERENT" alien bits for on the character. (And rewrite my script.) Since the poll results were split, that's quite a bit of "against". Also I suppose it isn't very original, by which I mean, it was original on my other character but looks recycled on this one. I will probably call her Verona Mercury, because I like it and it has enough drama to work.

See, I'm brainstorming this with you guys because I don't have anyone else to brainstorm with and you guys are cool.

Still did not find any of the missing craft supplies; I will look some more, later in the week.

I am pondering a webcomic, but I have no name for it, and no characters developed yet, and no names for them and this is driving me nuts, and the more I think about it the less I think I will finish.

But I am going to try to make characters with character sheets.
If I can do that I almost think the rest would be easy by comparison.

Gah, this is hard!

Everyone (meaning =CatharsisJB) has suggested that I could do one. But... wow, I'm going to try to complete a whole story arc's worth of pages before I do one, so no one gets stuck with half a story.

Strangely enough, the idea I have in mind is more mad-sciencey than fantasy, which is not at all what I would have, up to this point, considered typical for me. I always planned to write a story about Nycteris, the fantasy-realm air mage, but my current offshoot incarnation of her is more crazy scientist alien.

The imagination is a silly and wonderful and ever-changing thing.

Do you ever wish you were smarter? I wish that all the time, I think. Then again, I wish all sorts of things! In fact, "smarter" is a lot more practical than most of my wishes.

Well I don't know what to say, but I had to change that message.
I am feeling better. Let me say thanks to all the friends that I whined at, when I was feeling down!

Hmmm, today was Good Friday - and I slept in late, and dreamed about being a mage, fighting an army of soldiers who were advancing through this huge warehouse towards our troops, and I couldn't cast a single thing right.

Then I went to the doctor's office, because it really felt like something was stuck in my throat. It turned out that something was stuck in my throat! But I was too scared to let the doctor remove it, so he said just get it out yourself. (So I did. I will not tell you that I used a shish-ka-bob skewer, because that is not the recommended way to remove an item stuck in your tonsil.)

I also went to see Monsters vs. Aliens 3D, which was excellent (for a non-Pixar film).

PS. I found (and bought) Mo's Bacon (Chocolate) bar - and it's not bad. The first bite was overwhelmingly bacon, but after that, the flavors of bacon and chocolate melded better. But it is not my new favorite by a long shot.

I am sorry I've been so inactive here lately.
Actually I've been posting on my blog quite a bit ([link]) and even including art - you can go check it out, if you like.

I have a few little (yet time consuming) projects I've been working on. I'm also *trying* to do more life drawing, so my actual sketching will improve.

Thursday-Craft-Night should be starting up for the year, starting this Thursday. Maybe I will get something done to show there too.

POLYMER CLAY CHALLENGE IS ON HIATUS.

I have so much of this blue 4x6 paper, what else should I draw on it? So far I have drawn dragons, and swallows. Further suggestions so far have been: Gryphons and trees. Any other suggestions?

And tough luck if you are tired of seeing these white-on-midnight sketches in my gallery - I think they're fun.

I'm playing a mad scientist in a pulp-era style storytelling game, hopefully, next week. (If it's fun I'll blog about it.)

And seeing some doctors (I HATE doctors). If they can get rid of this terrible heartburn that has kept me from having a cup of coffee for a week that'd be great (and likely expensive). Oh I was in the ER one day last week. Fun. But God is gracious.

Ok I'm not in New Zealand, but this sounds unfair.
Apparently they are trying to make an ammendment that states that if your ISP thinks you MIGHT be possibly doing something to break a copyright on the internet, you will have your website/access/etc. shut down without any trial or evidence or proof.

Whew I've been trying to re-add all my stuff from my old broken Zen back onto my new Zen. It's taking longer than I expected. And I'm too lazy to organize it very well.

I removed some modules from my page, just for kicks.

I have several art projects half-done. I should be working on them right now, but I'm adding music to my Zen! This morning I went to a funeral, and got an oil change (for my car), and convinced the library that No, I did not steal the copy of Academ's Fury - it really is back on the shelf. How are you?

Wow I've been busy!

I just got back from a Youth Leadership Retreat. We took 12 kids and 7 adult leaders, over night at Skyview Baptist Ranch (camp). The topic was purity - not an easy topic. I was keyed up about that.

Also work has been slow. That has me a little keyed up, too.

And Monday is my first day ever of JURY DUTY. I am going to think about Phoenix Wright, I just KNOW it.

Anyway I have some art on the way (painting eyes on some sculpts right now) and I am doing ONE show this year - a Christmas show. I'm taking some of those button flowers.

I know you want me to sculpt more dragons. I'll see what I can do!

November's theme is Trees and Leaves.
Anything you want to do with trees and leaves. The leaves are fallen here, but your trees can have leaves if you like! Or even Spring flowers - I'm not picky.

DECEMBER CLAY CHALLENGE THEME

I'm announcing them BOTH right now so you can skip November and go to December if you know you're going to be busy.
December's theme is going to be bells! Any kind of bells. Incorporate bells into your piece, or make a bell-shape out of clay. Jingle bells, or any kind of bells. I just thought I would pick something different than "red and green" for a change of pace.

WOW! Thank you SO MUCH, all of you new watchers, and EVERYONE who visited the page.

I am so thrilled and humbled that you liked the Copper Mech Dragon ( ) - I am also super excited to have a Daily Deviation. I was really hoping I MIGHT get one some day, but there are so many MANY many many many manymanymany VERY talented artists around here it just blows my mind.

Anyway I will try to have more art up soon - thanks so much!

And if anyone wants to suggest/commission anything please feel free!

Argh I am supposed to get a costume!

What should I do?

I rather like the idea of mad science, and I already own a black robe and wand, so I could buy some kind of pointy hat and call that a costume, but I also am supposed to play in a "Live Clue" game so I need a costume for that too, which would have to be a sort of 30s-ish-era...

and I'm CHEAP. But there is a cash prize involved here.

I am pondering dropping $20 on a lab coat (my old one, er, well, I used to be slimmer. Hey I got it in high school!) Seriously I may just buy one anyway because, hey, LAB COAT! I have green goggles already, and a Zero Blaster, which looks sufficiently strange. ( [link] )

I'm more anxious about this than I ought to be, but that's because it's kinda fun.

All suggestions welcome/enjoyed/ignored/amusing.

Some friends told me to go as a "PIRATE Mad-Scientist" which... is just an odd combo. But you could twist it into Steampunk probably, of which I approve.

(And my mom said, among other things, go as Pinocchio which is baffling.)

Hey it's October!

Don't forget the theme for my clay challenge is Orange and Black. You have until the end of the month!

I think I need to take another (better) photo of my copper dragon, so don't be surprised if you see it change/ see me add another.

Not that I don't like this one, but if I want to be in the running for a DD someday I think I should not have that book under him, even though the black drape didn't snap a good photo. I'll think of something...

Anyway it's a book on magical creatures, but you can't tell.

I'm very busy, but I'm always busy so that's nothing exciting. Yesterday I twisted balloon animals for about 50 kids. That is my 2nd time in 3 weeks, which is a record for me.

Sorry I haven't posted anything for so long.
I have things in the pipeline, but I have just plain not been working on them very fast - which is bad, because I OUGHT to be working on them.

I am finishing the WIP steel dragon he's all done but now I'm slowly painting him.

Other than that I have some little stuff I may or may not get to quickly.

Question Do YOU have a project that you just can't quite get around to finishing? Tell me about it!

Further Question
I have a lack of Spindrift lately.
I should draw Spin - I'll even consider requests for stuff Spin should be getting into.

Yesterday was my birthday! I know, I was sneaky and didn't tell anyone. But it didn't help - I think I still got older.

But then, in the evening I spent two hours twisting balloon animals for kids at church, and then ANOTHER church asked if I could do it there too, in two weeks, whee!

Also I had a bubble machine going behind me and it turns out that, when it uses up a bottle of soap that ACTUALLY means that it soaked into the floor in the form of bubbles. Whoops.

I expect it will eventually dry. I hope.

PS. Thanks SO MUCH for being awesome, since I want to point out yesterday was Deviant Appreciation day. I really enjoy this website due to YOU!

Argh, I just did the "hardware test" and found out the pen is not working on my Bamboo Fun (Wacom Tablet). Specifically it is CONTINUOUSLY selecting so it won't stop drawing.

Anyone know a quick & dirty way to fix that, or shall I just buy a new pen?

EDIT: I just took the nib out and put it back in, and it started working again.
WOO I saved $35 or so!
