It's been the worst since I got out of the hospital, and I feel today sort of like I'm right back where I was in November. But when I was leaning on the edge of a door, waiting for my eyesight to return, I nearly screamed at how much I hated it. I've never felt so pissed off concerning all of it. So maybe I am in a different place.
Nevertheless, I felt like shit.
Then there is the other stressful shit that maybe four people know about, and that's really starting to just wear thin.
And my brother came down today, and with all of his problems in the past few weeks, I was scared to death to see him and act normally around him and his girlfriend. It was surreal, since the last time I saw him he was passed out and she was completely freaked out and crying.
I've also been cooped up in my cave of a room for over a week now, doing homework, watching movies, etc. It's getting old.
Come 7 pm, I needed out. It was fucking cold out, but I needed a change of scenery. So I went out with my camera and took a bunch of 15 second exposures at a church near my house. Then I just ran as fast as I could the through snow next to a pretty busy road, my lungs burning and my hands and face numb. I got back after being out in the freezing cold for 45 minutes, my nose was running, I couldn't breathe, my face was bright red, as were my hands. God, it hurt so bad when those warmed up... It doesn't help that I have no circulation whatsoever, so even when they get just a little cold, it's bad. Usually my fingers swell up and I can't even move them, but that didn't happen tonight. Hurray.
But I felt better after running.
And I got some okay pictures, they're kind of different from my usual stuff.

Everyone should know that I don't do beaches or tropical forests. I should never set foot between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn, it just does not bode well for me.
But some of the things were neat. Most of the pictures are from a five-hour horseback ride we took up a mountain and then down again, which was neat, though I'm still sore from it (and this was back on Tuesday). There was one point of that ride that sticks out in my mind, though; as we rode through a really poor town (if you could call it a town, I guess it was more of a slum of Puerto Vallarta), there was a hill that was completely covered with gravel and shards of glass. I felt terrible for the horses walking on the glass, but it made this eerie chime-sounding melody, with eight horses walking on it. I don't think that's something I'll ever forget, and I know it's a weird detail to remember.
But anyway, we did the touristy stuff, which I'm not too fond of in any place but in Puerto Vallarta, you can't do much else. The only thing I bought was a rosary from a nun in front of the Catedral de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, because it was pretty. The cathedral itself was absolutely gorgeous, and I wish that I had brought my camera, though I'm sure I can find pictures of it everywhere online. There's a snapshot on my new phone; I suppose that will suffice.
We stayed in a villa, probably the best part of the trip. It was wonderful, all outdoors except for four bedrooms, blessfully air conditioned with a bathroom in each one. I chose the smallest one, I took a liking to it compared to the more elaborate rooms with their four-poster beds and sofas. My room just had a bed and a table, and the bathroom was modest compared to the others, but it also opened right into the kitchen (odd placement, I know), which meant that I woke up every morning to the smell of breakfast being made. And then there was the fact that it was right on the beach; the beach I didn't enjoy, but it was nice being able to sit and watch the sunset over the ocean every night in relative comfort.
I also wrote about 60 pages of my "book," which no one will ever read, but I enjoy writing it. And I read a couple of great books (The Brothers Karamazov [Dostoevsky] and The Sea, by an author whose name I cannot recall at the moment. It won the Booker Prize a couple of years ago).
Anyway, I'm sure you don't want to read any more about it.
I'll finish by noting that I leave in 13 days for college in San Francisco.
