How awesome is my full frame ? (cf last journal )
So, I now use a krokus3 color.. it has a red filter that rotates but it can't get the hell out of the printing area: there's a little chunk of it on the top right corner so my black frames are cut
Also, how do I get rig of the scratches on the hand area? is my negative ruined?

I like this one very much.. but what is the slightly brighter area in the black on the top center? I let a friend do the revealing and that part stayed white a long time.. developping or printing flaw?

Finally.. it has been a while I was waiting for this magical moment.. and it was as good if not better than what I was expecting..

Camera is a ricoh500, 45/2.8, hp5/400@800 developped in lab, Ilford multigrade paper (with no filters yet) in PQUniversal, stinky vinegar and RapidFixer.. that's about it!

A propos, I wanted to ask advice to those who do their own development. I think some of my football madness pics will be very underexposed. How important is the development I understand that depending on how hard you shack it, you can choose contrast..

Early on he was working in the transborder buisness, driving a truck and importing cheaper items from Zambia, Malawi.. like fuel. He was involved in a fatal accident in which his 5 coworkers died. A wheel burst and the fuel truck crashed on rocks and exploded. Only surviver, Emmanuel was left in the coma badly burned. After 4 years and a few surgical operations, he was back on foot and determined to earn his life being a photojournalist.
When I met him he was doing benevol(?) work for an NGO helping orphans: 'Oak tree Tanzania'. He said it would be good for his CV and experience..

To document his occasionnal articles in local newspaper, he uses a very slow compact digital camera that he borrows from a german development worker.. The conditions are so hard that I was amased to see how good some of his pictures were: no electricity at his home, no device to recharge batteries, no computer or knowledge in computers. I showed him some technics, compositionnal rules ect.. He is less interested in aestetics than in the information that can be contained in a picture. Plus helping me a great deal with my own work, he taught me a lot about how everything works overthere, culture and society issues.. and he gave me glimpse of what real photojournalist is. In his mail he told me he is succeeding in making sensationnal pictures, and I am so happy for him.
Before leaving, I helped him make a blog to promote his stories. ([link]) It's just a start of course, I hope he will be able to update it. I should suggest him to upload on dA, maybe easier..

I lately went to Paris a couple days.. the sight of all those tourists picturing NotreDame with their almost professional material disgusted me a little.. so unfair.

I wish to work on a small photographic exhibition for the research laboratory for which I'm currently writing a report. I have ~400 decent pictures from my trip, I will try and select ~100 which I will submit here and make a final ~20 selection with the help of feadback.. Yesterday I took a rest from work and fell on an ebay auction(sp?) for a pocket rangefinder - a ricoh 500me! I sort of had a crush on that little cam and bought it !! It has been a while I've been wanting a rangefinder and I have (had) a bit of money.. Here's what it looks like:

So here's the big question. I'm going to receive it hopefully this week, but what kind of film should I stick in ? It takes 24*36mm film.. I'm planning on using it especially for street photography, as it fits in a pocket, 40mm/2.8 lens..
I'm a big b&w fan as you might know, and I also have an enlarger (not sure it's called that way in english..) so it would be the occasion to give it a try ! On the other hand I really love the colour streetshots on in-public.com.. I think the best way to enjoy this site in a constructive way is not to get in to the views/favs/whatever race, to stay humble and always keep an eye open for all what the system does not promote.

I still have tones of work to finish and a 3 month trip in tanzania to prepare, so I have little time for dA, sorry for being slow responding..

I believe it is a relatively unknown genre (on dA and elsewhere), and therefor underrated. My fellow deviant =flumpie (and talented photographer by the way) has just published an article about streetphotography, in which I have the honor to be featured in.. but that you don't care

I strongly recommend you have a look at it. It's long, but contains valuable information and advice. You could even conscider promoting this genre with a little but useful

=rikausse pointed out to me the monthly 'Unknown artist' featuring.. in which I have the honor to be part of this month ! "..talented, yet underrated, artists on deviantArt." This is good for my ego but I'm specialy proud to have a photo put next to photographers like ~ilieilie, who's gallery I've just discovered. As someone said, some people (including me) prefer not to have too much information about a photo, in order to make their own story.. In the case of my DD, I have a second shot of the same scene in my scraps for those who want to know

I have'nt been taking that much photos these days, I have a lot of work and stuff to do, but all this feedback gave me real motivation ! so hopefully, you'll see some new stuff soon

I don't really like dA's favourite system that I would compare to a disguised rating system but less accurate, elitist and really unfare in some cases.. but, the good side of this site is the quantity and diversity of the stuff that we can find (with more or less difficulty..) A great source of inspiration.
Another thing I wanted to make clear is that when I comment, add to my favourite list or whatever, I don't expect anything in return. All that I give is free lol, and I hope you all think that way too.

I see that some members use their journal to promote other members deviations.. that's both kind and very useful. Unfortunatly, I am not active enough to do that, so I'll simply show you a list of members I'm intrested in :

Thank you all for the warm welcome, it's encouraging. In fact, i'm not totally new to this site even if I still have difficulties with the interface.. I like drawing.. no, I love drawing and I once posted a few of my drawings (pretty mediocre I admit..) to see what kind of response I would get.

Think I'm done with uploading all my old stuff so, for those who are watching me, I won't be flooding your message center any more That also means I'm now uploading new stuff that I'm not sure of the value.. that's your job to tell me lol.

I dont give much detail on my photos. I believe a photo should talk by it's self and finally, the conditions of the shooting or my gear are'nt that important : it's the result that counts in photography.
That being said, don't hesitate to ask for detail if you don't understand something or want to know how I did it..

As you see, I'm french.. so my english won't always be perfect. Sorry.
