I've gotten hooked on Yahoo Answers, Fundies Say the Darnedest Things, and 4chan. (Yes, 4chan.)

I'm working on a new picture because my boyfriend (I love you Brian!! <3) wanted to see what he would look like as a furry. Naturally, I took care to draw my beloved in a dignified posture, et cetera, et cetera.

And I've almost finished a quilt. It's pretty. It will go on my bukkit too. Might want to bookmark it if you want anything like regular updates out of me. XD

OK, I think an explanation is in order here.

I have several excuses for not being here for the past 6 months. First of all, I had a heavy courseload last term, culminating in graduation. (I has a degree! )

Secondly, my laptop is broken. Specifically, the little prong inside the AC adapter socket broke off inside the cord. It's not as easy to fix as I thought, and it'll cost a pretty penny to get that repaired. (Laptop is currently in for repairs by a guy who accepts dinners as payments. I will likely be paying this off for the rest of the summer, at least.)

Third, I have changed my religion. For most of you, the To and From are none of your damn business. Friends, however, need only leave a note, and I'll give you all the details.

Reason four? I'm dating a werewolf. No, really.

Just got a note the other day, from someone I've never encountered on DA before in any way, shape or form.

This was the note:

Subject: I LOVE you!
OMG! you're a GENIUS! Why don't you join the poetry contest from [link] ? Free to enter, 100k prizes. You MUST win it!

And this was my response:

...I don't know you, I have no idea which pieces you enjoy so much because you never commented on anything, and I don't much care for online scams.

Thank you for your compliments, and have a nice day.

Let's go through what exactly Mystery Person did wrong here.

1. You did not comment on a single piece. I have no idea which of my poems you liked, and the only reason I know you're talking about a poem in the first place is because you mentioned a poetry contest.

2. You do not love me. You love Internet Me, which is not me. I don't have fur, I don't kill people, and I enjoy a lot more things than Internet Me has ever divulged. And alas, Internet Me is a very fickle and hard-to-please mistress. Go after the young man in your Basic Math class instead, mmkay?

3. I've never heard of anything that gives away that kind of cash for free. It's obviously a scam, Either you're too stupid to realize it's a scam, in which case I don't want to talk to you because you're an idiot, or you're deliberately scamming me, in which case I definitely don't want to talk to you.

4. Your use of the word "must" implies you're trying to force me to enter the contest (which I don't want to do)--nay, to win it (which probably wouldn't happen anyway because it's a scam)! Don't you have anything better to do than perfect your Internet Mind Control?

5. You got your account deleted since you sent me that note. Ha ha, sucks to be you.

School starts back today. Lots of time-consuming calculus--we're basically proving everything that Newton and Leibniz already came up with 400 years ago, because NCLB demands that math teachers take 13 math courses. So new ones have been added in to the official course list for a BS in Math. Blargh.

Anyway, this means updates will remain scarce. I may put up a few WIPs, and some practice sketches, but don't expect full-fledged artwork anytime soon.

1. Whats your full name?
Ongaru. I'm not really sure about my real last name, for reasons I'd rather not say. I usually pick random weapons.

2. Whats your age?
22. It shall stay that way. My creator's not a huge fan of making her characters age for some reason...*points at Axel, who is still a baby after 5 years of existence*

3. Height and weight, if known.
5'1". My weight is none of your business.

4. What is your species?
Felis domesticus anthropomorphus.

5. Do you believe in love?
Please. 9_9 Everyone knows love's a stupid ploy to sell greeting cards. Besides, in my profession, it's better not to trust anyone.

6. Who do you like?
Myself. Occasionally.

7. Name your best buddies.
I have little time for friends. Sheriff Furi and I chat a bit sometimes though.

8. At what date you were born?
I don't remember.

9. Favorite Movies?
. . .

10. Do you consider yourself an sexy or cute person?
I can be sexy when I want to be. Makes it easier to catch the ones that are wanted alive for questioning.

11. How would you describe yourself?
Deadly. Remember, I have a plasma gun that shouldn't technically exist.

12. Who do you hate?
Lots of people.

13. What do you hate?
Running out of money. I also hate having to use sex appeal to lure my targets in...it feels like cheating.

14. Do you think fashion is important in your life?
Only insofar as it makes it easier to sneak up on my quarry--well, unless I'm using sex appeal again. Then, my disguise must be perfect.

15. Where do you live?
It's not safe for me to divulge that information.

16. What are your hobbies?
Bounty hunting. When they say it's a full-time job, they mean FULL TIME.

17. Tell us some secret that you have.
I think not.

18. Favorite Foods.
Anything that gives me the energy I need.

19. Do you think Spam tastes like human flesh?
Nope. I know a few pigs who swear it is though...

20. FINAL QUESTION. (stop cheering) Why did you take this quiz?
*shrugs* Had a few minutes.

Found this video while randomly net-surfing. Basically a game review program in some Spanish-speaking country or other decided to see which of the three sixth-gen systems was most durable. (This was a little over a year ago, so they couldn't do the current-gen--I'd like to see a follow-up.) For those of you who don't speak Spanish, here's what they did:

1. Drop it from a height of 1m. (about 3 ft)

2. Drop a 5-kg (about 10 lbs) weight on it from a height of 2m (about 6 ft).

3. Hit it 3x with a hammer.

4. Throw it forcefully onto the pavement.

The first contestant eliminated didn't surprise me at all, given that it's so small and flimsy-looking. It was also kinda funny watching the kids' reactions--at first they're all like "Nooooo!!" but then they realize how much abuse these systems can take, and they start cheering on their favorite brands.

Yes, I'm still alive. Been out of town over the holidays, and now that I have to work AND make all A's this semester (let's just say last semester's report card was...not the best, 'kay?), I am not likely to update for a while. I have a few things I'm working on, but it'll take a while before I get them nice and shiny and scanned and uploaded.

Now, about Christmas. I went to Las Vegas and stayed at the Luxor Resort&Casino on the Strip (hence the goofy title above). It was fun, I gambled a little, saw some shows. I had a ball! For the curious who are planning to go to Vegas themselves in the future:

1. If you gamble, do NOT expect to ever see that money again. Yes, you might win a little, but in the end, the house always wins. Set a limit and STICK TO IT so you still have a home to go back to.

2. Staying on the Strip is nice, but DO NOT eat at the restaurants on the Strip! They are very expensive (read: $10 for a hamburger) and you're better off either sticking to the food courts, or eating elsewhere. The casinos on Fremont St. have CHEAP food. Speaking of Fremont...

3. You MUST see the Fremont Street Experience if you go to Vegas. If you go, and don't stop by for the show, I will laugh at you. It's awesome, it's free, and it's an hourly thing, so you have no excuse for missing it.

4. Seeing one strip show is excusable. (I saw the Thunder from Down Under myself. Mrawwrr. :3 ) Seeing more than one is just plain stupid. Porn is cheaper, and you see more.

5. The best paid show, in terms of price and what you get out of it, is the Tournament of Kings show at the Excalibur. For $58, you get dinner and a cute King Arthur show. Your only excuse for missing this is not liking King Arthur or pyrotechnics. Or being allergic to horses.

6. Don't take a kid under 5 to Vegas. They're too young to remember any of it, they can't do much, and you'll have to explain to them why the ladies on the posters are all in their dainties.

Wow. I got only 2 responses that indicate one of three things is happening here. Either none of my watchers have been on DA, Sheezy, or LJ this week except those 2 people, everyone is trained to avoid my entries for some obscure reason, or most people didn't know most of the answers and were scared to post. That's OK. To know all the answers would require you to know about a super-wide variety of rock, both past and present. Plus, some of the answers aren't on the radio, and a lot of them are non-singles from a band's better-selling albums. I'll list the album, where I know it (I don't know what album all these are from because, contrary to popular belief, I do actually have a life.) Anyway, the 2 respondents, in order of correctness:

nashiitashii of LJ, with 5 points, and
shadowkuzatsu of DA with 2.

Here's the answers:

1. Korn--"Pretty" (Follow the Leader)
2. Five Piece Electric Band--"Signs"
3. Queen--"Killer Queen"
4. Charlie Daniels Band--"Long Haired Country Boy"
5. Barenaked Ladies--"One Week"(Stunt)
6. Metallica--"Disposable Soldiers"(Master of Puppets)
7. Pearl Jam--"Alive"
8. Guns 'n Roses--"Mr. Brownstone"
9. The Beatles--"Penny Lane"(Magical Mystery Tour)
10. AC/DC--"You Shook Me All Night Long"

I may do this again sometime, with different lyrics. Or if you want to post your own lyrics quiz, I'd love to try my skills.

Basically this will see just how well you guys know rock, and which subgenres you're into. ALL of the artists used here were labeled as rock at some point or another. Guess title and artist, you get one point for each right answer (1 for title, 1 for artist--so basically 2 possible points per song). If you get them all, you're as much of a rock nut as I am. And if you own Guitar Hero, you have no excuse for not knowing #3.

1. "What a disgrace/Who do I feel sorry for?"

2. "He said, 'You look like a fine upstanding young man, I guess you'll do.'/So I took off my hat and said, 'Imagine that--me, working for you!'"

3. "Recommended at the price/Insatiable in appetite/Wanna try?"

4. "I ain't got no money, but I damn sure got it made"

5. "Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon 'cuz that cartoon has got the boom anime babes/That make me think the wrong thing."

6. "You coward, you servant, you blind man..."

7. "I can't remember anything to this very day,/Except blood, blood..."

8. "I get up around whenever/I used to get up on time"

9. "He likes to keep his fire engine clean/It's a clean machine."

10. "She told me to come, but I was already there."
Answers will be put up Thursday, so you all have about a week to do this. ^^ Crossposted to my LJ and SheezyArt.

What is your name/age?
Laura. 20.

How long have you been an artist?
Pretty much forever. I've always just sort of doodled in class and such.

Do you remember your first drawing?
When I was 2, I did a painting called "Trees." It didn't look like trees though. XD

What is your favorite thing to create?
Honestly, the comics. They're easy and they make people laugh.

What is your favorite style of art?
Whatever inspires emotions in others.

What is your favorite medium of art?
MUSIC!! Music is my fucking life!

What inspires you, outside of other artwork?
Mostly my own feelings and what's going on in my life.

Whose artwork inspires you?
Juan's, mostly, and my favorite songs.

Who seems to appreciate your art the most?
Lots of people seem to like it. Not sure why though.

Do you do anything artistically, outside of your main art form of choice?
I try to experiment with a lot of different styles.

What does your family think of your art?
They don't ever see it. I'm very private about my art.

What do your friends think?
Around here? They seem to think it's kinda weird, but some of 'em like it.

Do you have original artwork from others in your home?
I wish.

Do you have a place to feature your own artwork?
DA and Sheezy. I also have a binder overflowing with the stuff I've drawn, written, and other random things I like.

Where do you go to create your art?
Here, there, and everywhere.

What are you most proud of about your art?
Just that I can get my emotions out before they take control again.

What do you wish to improve about it?
I wish I could draw hands and feet without totally messing them up.

What is your favorite thing about being an artist?
Being able to turn my emotions into something other people can relate to. It's all about establishing a connection.

Least favorite?
Artist's block.

And finally, what do you wish to achieve with your art one day?
Well, I'd like what I write to be published some day.

I believe I can see the future
Cause I repeat the same routine
I think I used to have a purpose
But then again, that might have been a dream
I think I used to have a voice
Now I never make a sound
I just do what I've been told
I really don't want them to come around, oh no

[Chorus:]
Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Every day is exactly the same

I can feel their eyes are watching
In case I lose myself again
Sometimes I think I'm happy here
Sometimes I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

[Chorus]

I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping someday you might find
Well I'll hide it behind something
They won't look behind
I'm still inside here
A little bit comes bleeding through
I wish this could have been any other way
But I just don't know, I don't know what else I can do

I met ~SupaflyFuriX over the weekend, and...well, I don't wanna get into details, so let's just say things didn't go too well. I'll be taking a break from the 'Net for a while so I can try to get over this, and possibly meet some guys i CAN spend some time with...(Baby, if you're reading this, I'm sorry about everything. You can still use my character in AF3.)

Now, before I go...

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
"After the police took her statement she had gone back to her dorm..."Princess of Wands by John Ringo. HIGHLY recommended, especially if you're a fan of Chrono Crusade or the Resident Evil series.

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can.
My old Headbanger's Ball CD.

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Law and Order: SVU.

4. Without looking, guess what time it is:
6 something.

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
6:41. Hey, I was close!

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Music, and my friend Ben singing and playing air guitar.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
Earlier today. I was heading home from my parents' house.

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?
Other people's journals.

9. What are you wearing?
Clothes. Specifically a sweater, jeans, and t3h H47z of D00M!! D:

10. Did you dream last night?
None I can remember.

11. When did you last laugh?
...Sometime today. Life is wasted without laughter.

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Lots of posters, some old CAD comic printouts, and some sticky notes. ^^

where the hell is question 13?

14. What do you think of this quiz?
Meh, it beats being thrown naked into a pit of rusty razor blades in below-freezing weather.

15. What is the last film you saw?
The Producers. Friggin' hilarious!!

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
A mansion with an indoor pool, and maybe one of those nice fancy courtyard gardens with the cherub statues in it. And the ultimate entertainment system, plus lots and lots of CD's and video games.

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know:
...I used to have a thing for boy bands.

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?
Stop people from hating each other and doing mean things to each other. Seriously. In other words, I would end extremism on both ends of the scale.

19. Do you like to dance?
...only when I'm either playing DDR, or all alone so no-one can watch what looks like poorly-choreographed seizures.

20. George Bush:
Well, at least he TRIES to do the right thing. He's just not good at the whole, political thing.

21. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Lily.

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?
Joseph.

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?
As long as it's not some third-world country. I like my hot water damnit!!

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gates?
"Consider yourself lucky. You made it in by the skin of your teeth!"
...In other words, I don't care, I just want to make it to Heaven...

25. 4 people who must also do this in THEIR journal:
Anyone who hasnt already! RAWR.

DA just deleted my sprite sheet. Why? "Copyright violation." Hello?

1. Those sprites were EDITED to represent my original character. People do that all the time, and you never did anything about this before. If your problem is "copyright infringement", then why the hell did you delete my spritesheet and not my SSBM comic? It uses nothing BUT copyrighted characters.

2. I swear I remember crediting Sega and Nintendo for the bases to my sprites. Guess what? YOU CANNOT ASK A MAJOR CORPORATION FOR PERMISSION TO USE THEIR CHARACTERS BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BUSY TO RESPOND TO THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD DO SO EVERY SINGLE DAY. I can understand asking a fellow deviant for permission, but just try asking Nintendo ANYTHING and see how many months, if not years, pass before you get any form of reply. Credit for such characters should be enough!

3. That spritesheet's been up for a year and a half. If you really had a problem with it, you could have deleted it THEN instead of waiting this long. Not to mention that since my old PC burned out before I could back everything up, the copy on DA has been the only place some of those sprites were stored. Thanks a lot.

If even ONE more deviation using original characters is deleted for "copyright infringement", I am taking EVERY work here, submitting it to Sheezy Art, and taking it down from DA. I am also personally informing the DA admins of my reasons for leaving. Because artists shouldn't have to put up with this shit.

EDIT: To people who watch me: sorry for stuffing your message box with old art, I just wanted to make sure everyone was 100% clear who everything belongs to around here.

RE-EDIT: Well, they deleted "Amy Flash." Not that I particularly cared about it, but oh well. Looks like the only times I ever come back here will be to comment on the work of others. Expect me to remove everything over the course of the next few days.

YET ANOTHER EDIT: Created SheezyArt account. Same as this one. If you wanna see more of my art, you'll have to go there.

School update: Finished midterms yesterday. Am fairly certain I failed Circuits, as I had the presence of mind to forget my calculator. >_<

EDIT: Apparently, even a calculator wouldn't have saved me. Sure the average grade for the class was 60, sure he is NOTORIOUS for grading on a massive curve, but there is just no way to make a 29% look good. ._.

OMGWTFBBQ: 1. Saw a dead roach in the unwashed dishes the other day, apparently drowned in a bowlful of dirty water. I didn't even know the things were capable of dying. I seriously stepped on one a few years ago and it kept right on walking.

2. ~bolt-hedgehog has faved something of mine. This in and of itself would not bother me except that said deviant has NO work of his/her own, and all favorites are Krystal yiff. O_o You can't make this stuff up.

3. According to inside sources, a former acquaintance has apparently decided that if he ever makes any form of contact with me, he will immediately be trapped hopelessly in a mire of lust and misery. Seriously, man, you're the one who told ME to get over it. XD

About sprite comics.

I have seen tons of sprite comics in my time. Unfortunately, all too many of them are absolute crap. Some of you know what I'm talking about. For everyone else: Before you cram another sprite comic into an immensely crowded Internet, stop. Think. And read these rules. Please. Don't make me hurt you.

1. Most sprite-hosting sites have backgrounds. Use them, or make your own. DO NOT use plain white; it just screams "I am a n00b!!"

2. i dun care if u txt this way, u have 2 spel things out in a comic or u look st00pid. Also use capitalization and punctuation rules you learned in 4th grade. Because if you don't, well, you look like you failed the 4th grade. Which would make you look like an idiot.

3. If you can't spell or are extremely prone to typos, type the text in Word, use spellcheck, then Copy and Paste it into your comic. It only takes about 30 seconds longer, and it makes you look that much better. Plus it prevents the 1000s of annoying emails from fans who insist on pointing out your every error.

4. Either make a serious, dramatic comic with a well-developed plot, or use funny storylines. This is funny:

Sonic: "Wow! That was quite a fall!"
Tails: "Even I couldn't fly all the way back up from here!"
Sonic: O.O "You can fly?"

This is not funny:

Sonic: "omg eggman u r gay!!1!11!!eleventyone!!
Eggman: "oh yeah" *shoots weapon*
death.gif "AAAH I AM DEAD"

Sadly, I have seen all too many of the latter type.

5. For the love of God, if you're going to use flashy effects, and you're not an expert pixel artist, use the ones others have created or ripped. Nothing is worse than a "laser beam" that is actually a 5-pixel thick line you did in Paint, with absolutely no attempt at depth or realism whatsoever. That sort of thing works fine with stick figures, but you're using beautifully detailed sprites. It just looks out of place.

A multiple choice test to which you don't know all the answers is kinda like a lottery ticket. If you fill in all the blanks you have a chance of getting what you want, but it's still pretty slim.

Don't go getting drunk with total strangers. Don't cover yourself in champagne during a rock concert either. (Inside joke)

Man who fall in vat of molten glass make spectacle of himself.

EDIT: Ack! I put some misinformation up!! The concert WILL NOT be broadcast live!! I'll let you know when I find out when it IS gonna be on.

Saturday I had choir practice. And of course, I ended up next to a nice old lady with a really nasally voice that grated on my ears. Plus I was about 10 ft. from a pipe organ, and if you've never been near one of those while someone's playing it, IT. IS. LOUD!! Like being at a rock concert, only without the swear words and flying brassieres. In other words, it's not much fun.

Didn't get to hang out with Steven all weekend, because some friends or something were staying over. Or maybe it was cousins. I honestly don't remember. Some girlfriend I am.

Felt really depressed and lonely all weekend. Wasted most of yesterday online talking to Supa.

For those of you who didn't know, yesterday was my birthday. You don't need to apologize if you forgot. I understand. When you get to be an old fart like me, you forget things. Anyway...here's the breakdown.

My parents called me 3 times yesterday, twice to wish me a happy birthday and once about a little issue with one of my labs...>>; They sent me a card with money to buy a new purse. Which is good, because not only is my old one wearing out, it needs to be cleaned out BADLY.

Steven not only called me first thing in the AM, he also took me out last night. We went to Shogun's, then since it was only about 9:30, we went to the movies, where I FINALLY got to see Batman Begins, about 3 months after everybody else. XD

Also, thanks to everyone online who remembered. You all rock. Sorry if you were notified of this entry more than once...I kept getting messages saying my connection timed out, so to be on the safe side, I hit the button again till it said it had gone through--4 times. I have now removed the superfluous entries. Sorry if, as a result of this, you got an error message. XD I need to think these things through a little better.

In conclusion: *Comic Book guy voice* Best. Birthday. EVER!

Also, my mom pointed out, I haven't been to a family reunion in 3 years. So I'm spending Labor Day weekend in southern Alabama with my interesting relatives. And when I return, there shall be dancing and scuppernongs for all!

*Ahem* Also, since I won't be back till Monday, don't expect me to comment on anything. Or to buy anything, because Hurricane Katrina played havoc with the gas prices. As if gas weren't already expensive enough.

Saturday night, I went out and met some strange people with my new roomie. Since most of them just wanted to drink, smoke, and talk about cars, and I'm not really into any of those things, it was kinda boring at first. Then I found out one of the guys there was into animae, so we talked about that for awhile.

Yesterday, I went to the smallest church I've ever been in. Seriously, there were only about 40 people there! Went to a bonfire & met a nice guy who was kind of a pyromaniac. XD

Today, I bought my books and set up my Internet connection, which took HOURS to work.
In other news, I've become so impatient for the new Zelda to be released, I've attempted to get out my frustration by beating baddies to a bloody pulp in WW, OT and MM. It didn't work. All it did was piss me off, yet again, about the stupid thing my brother did in OT. See, there's supposed to be a secret ending to OT if you get everything, so my brother did the glitch to get all 100 Skultullas, then on his way to the castle, he forgot and killed another Skultulla so now we have 101. ¬¬ And I remember it took MONTHS to get all those Pieces of Heart. Guess I'll start over to see if I can get the secret ending.

Got into the choir at my college. They said the only thing wrong with my voice is I'm not breathing right. So now I have to learn how to breathe--which sounds a lot more amusingly pathetic than it is. XD

Finally saw "The Forgotten" the other day. It really messed with my head. And we all love when movies mess with our heads. X3

My parents are out of town this week. So I'm'a call my cousin and see if she can come visit so I have someone to help me trash the house.

Recently bought myself a good novel, one of a series, and it is NOT the new Harry Potter. ($30 for one book?! I think I'll check it out from the library instead... >.>; ) It's called Slayers by Hajime Kanzaka, and it is absolutely hilarious! If you haven't read it, do so now!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick warning--the next part of this entry is depressing, and kinda disturbing in some places. You don't have to read it if you don't want to, and even if you did, you probably can't do anything to help me because chances are, whoever you are, you probably live hundreds of miles away. Thus ends the disclaimer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I found out my own father doesn't even know or trust me as much as someone I only spent one day with. Can you imagine anything more depressing than that? And the worst part is, I can't talk to either of them anymore--Dad and I have drifted too far apart, and Alex...well, I think we all know about that...I still feel like such a terrible person. He loved me. He trusted me with his deepest secrets. He needed me. And I abandoned him.

I wish I could be there for him. There are so many things I could do for him...so many things I could say...so much I could give. I thought I could get over him. I thought it would be better if we both moved on. I thought if we broke up, I'd stop hurting. But the pain is a thousand times worse. I'm lucky to get more than 5 hours of sleep at night. And when I do sleep, I dream about him. Even if I wanted to, I could never forget him. Literally, EVERYthing reminds me of him.

And it hurts to even think about dating other guys. It feels like betraying him. I had the most terrible nightmare the night before last where this guy wore down my defenses and somehow talked me into having sex with him...It was awful. I was hurting all over and finally I pushed him off and ran away before he was finished because I couldn't stand the pain--it was like my body was rejecting him. Then I found Alex and ran into his arms crying and told him what had happened to me--and he hit me and called me a slut and a whore and said he never wanted to see me again. I woke up crying...;___; (and no, I'm NOT trying to garner pity. I just really needed to get that out...)

For the 4th, I stayed at home and fulfilled my pyromaniac fantasies by shooting off about 30 bottle rockets. About 10 of them were duds. (However, some of the stationary ones you stand on the ground are cool--next year, try "Happy" and "Magic Silvery Flower." They're not as wussy as their names sound.)

Last week, I went to NYC because my brother was starting his college education at the Merchant Marine Academy. We saw a Broadway show (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It rained on the way down there.) Mom and I went clothes shopping. Then, we dropped my bro off at MMA in the pouring rain. We bought souvenirs. It rained. We went to the airport. It rained some more. Then we got home and it was about 20 degrees hotter than when we left. I wish it would rain. XD

I miss my li'l bro. He was fun to talk to, he had good taste in music, and he basically kept me from being really bored and really lonely. Oh well. Now when I go to college this fall I have a GCN, 4 memory cards, 32 games, and 2 1/2 controllers to take with me. So when I'm not studying, going to class, hanging out with my classmates, or writing these journals, I can play SSBM with the geeks. Plus I can FINALLY sell the copy of Luigi's Mansion that nobody has played in 3 years.

One last thing. It's my parents' anniversary (Happy 21 years Mom & Dad!) It's also somebody's birthday--Happy birthday and thanks for finally changing your avatar. Only took you a year and a half this time. That was more than 1 thing...Whatever.
OK, I'm not quite as depressed as I was a few weeks ago, and I'm sorry I went all weepy like that. I just needed to let all that out.

I'd also like to thank a certain close friend of mine for sending me that email--really helped to cheer me up. You know who you are.

*sigh* I still really miss Alex though...I didn't think this would still hurt so much so long after the fact...I wish we could still be friends, at least. After all we went through, it's not really fair that I've had to cut him completely out of my life...
But he's not leaving my stalk list. Oh no. I want to know about everything he says, does, and draws.

At first, today was going fairly well. Raining pretty hard, but still pretty good. I went to church, I sang in the choir, everything was hunky-dory. Then I get home.

See, the rest of the family went to my uncle's house in Florida for Memorial Day weekend. I couldn't go because I had to work yesterday and tomorrow. So once again, I'm stuck at home, and since everyone else is probably out of town, I'm alone again. Mom left me a note saying they'd call right after church. Guess what? It's almost 4 in the afternoon and the only phone call I've gotten all day was from some stupid telemarketer who couldn't pronounce our last name. (Seriously--why don't these people even know basic phonics rules? Didn't they go to the first grade?)

I was lonely and missing Alex, so I decided to watch a movie where good things happen because one person gives up his friendship with another person to save her. In other words, I saw The Butterfly Effect again. At least, I saw the first half of it. When it got to Kayley's funeral, I couldn't stand it anymore and switched it off. Because I suddenly realized what the problem is here.

The problem is that I've been living in a fantasy world my whole life, and suddenly NOW, when I'm almost 20, and my very self-identity is inextricably tied to my fantasies, my parents have decided to drag me out of it. Why'd you wait so long, guys? Why didn't you do something about it when I was 7 and didn't have any serious problems? Why did you have to wait until I sought refuge online from the crushing weight of loneliness and despair, and fell in love with the only person I've ever met who was also alienated, ridiculed, and forced to live a daydream to keep from being miserable, just for being different? And why the fuck don't you realize that the only reason I've kept myself alive for the past two years is the vain hope that you could accept that love?

For three years I confided in him, I comforted him, I was almost happy again. Happy. Happier than I've been since I was 5. And now it's all falling apart. I know they were trying to protect me. I know they don't think I can trust him. But people aren't any more or less likely to lie online than in person. Being online just makes it easier for the ones who do lie to get away with it. If that's the way they feel, how did they know they could trust each other? How can anybody trust anyone else?!

Hell, why do I even bother? If I try to forget any of this ever happened, I lose my one shot at real happiness. If I take Alex back, I lose my family, my future--everything else that ever mattered to me. Either way, nobody wins. I've never felt so completely helpless in my life. I've cried almost every day for the past 2 weeks. Everything I do bores me. Every day seems to last centuries--centuries of loneliness and tedium, of either working like a dog, or sitting around the house thinking of him. And it's not like I could forget him anyway. Everything I see, or hear, or do, reminds me of him. Whenever I'm alone, I end up re-living our time together at the convention. When I'm around other people, I say things that inevitably start me thinking about what he would have said. The back of my hand is always warm where he kissed it, even when the rest of both hands are ice-cold. I am in perpetual torment remembering what we had--what I can never get back.

...And for some reason, I just got a one-week free subscription that I'm probably not going to take advantage of in the slightest. Why is DA handing out so many free subscriptions anyway? Are they losing that many members?

Mainly because I knew in my heart it would never work. That, and my parents happened to find certain images that may scar them for life.
THE QUIZ

Name your favourite songs that have each word shown in their titles. It doesn't have to BEGIN with that word, it just needs to be in the title. If you don't know one, just leave it blank. And they have to be songs you actually KNOW! Don't just look up random song titles and stick them in there.

Red: "The Red" by Chevelle
Orange: "Orange Crush" by R.E.M.
Yellow: "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles
Green:
Blue: "Blue Monday" by New Order/Orgy
Violet:
White: "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" by the Offspring
Black: "Black" by Pearl Jam (It's just SOOOO sad!! ;_; )

Now take each of the letters of your first name and list songs that BEGIN with each letter. Again, these must be songs you actually KNOW and have listened to before:

L: "Love Me Do" by the Beatles
A: "A.D.I.D.A.S." by Korn (Am I scaring you yet? XP )
U: "Unpretty" by TLC (Well...I USED to like it...)
R: "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin
A: "Always" by Saliva

Damn. I never realized how many different styles of music I've listened to. Probably scarred some of you people for life.

OK, seeing as I HAVE to agree to the new rules in order to submit anything, I figure I might as well at least tell you people what I do or do not think is fair about them.

you are giving us the nonexclusive right (i.e., you can grant similar rights to others at any time) to use those materials on and as part of our websites (e.g., to include your materials in our database which we make freely available over the World Wide Web). You are also representing to us that, among other things, you have the right to allow us to so use the materials and are agreeing, among other things, to cover the costs of our defense if someone claims that we do not have the right to so use the materials (or that you do not have the right to allow us to so use the materials). Our right to use your materials in this manner will continue until you choose to remove your materials, or any of them, from our website, and notify us in writing that you want to terminate this agreement. You are agreeing that we are not responsible for your work while it is on our website, including protecting it from other people, and that we are not responsible for removing it from our website. This means that if someone else gets your materials from our website and starts selling posters featuring your materials that we are not responsible for this activity and that you will pursue that other person and not deviantART to stop such use of your materials.

Except for the written notification thing (does this mean snail-mail only, and if so, where would I mail it to?) this part is perfectly fair. That's why they're here, isn't it? They can't stop people from improper use of your stuff. This is what I expected.

We reserve the right to make changes to this agreement in the future, but any changes would not apply to you unless you accept those changed terms.

Considering I HAVE to accept to put anything else up, those changes are going to apply to me anyway, one way or the other...

The requirement that the Artist Materials do not and will not contain any viruses or other programming routines that may detrimentally interfere with computer systems or data, whether those of deviantART or any third party.

Thank you. The last thing anybody needs is a virus, especially from a place we assume is safe.

Artist hereby disclaims any and all right, title, or interest in any and all material with which Artist Materials may be combined or into which all or any portion of Artist Materials may be incorporated. As used in this Agreement, the term "Artist Materials" means Artist's name(s) (including professional names), trademarks, trade names, likenesses, photographs, biographical materials, artwork, liner notes, and other graphical or textual materials that Artist uploads to deviantART, and any and all "skins," computer-generated images or other artwork or images that Artist submits to deviantART.

I have interest. I am interested in knowing what you do with my stuff.

Despite the foregoing sentence, you are also agreeing that we can remove your materials, or any of them, from our website at any time or from time to time without notice to you and without reason.

Without reason? That's not very nice, but I can live with that.
Without notice? Now that's just plain mean. How am I supposed to know what's been removed without going through my whole gallery, and all my scraps? And some people have HUGE galleries!

You are agreeing that we have the right to use your name and likeness on our websites solely in connection with the promotion and marketing of our business (e.g., we can refer to you as a member of deviantART.com) until you notify us that you wish to terminate this agreement and you have removed all of your materials from our website.

Doesn't matter much to me, seeing as I never use my real name on here anyway. Hell, I don't even use very good likenesses of myself.

Artist also agrees not to assert any privacy, publicity, moral or similar rights held by Artist (and on behalf any other person(s) whose name(s), photographs and/or likeness(es) and/or performances are embodied in the Artist Materials, Artist agrees that such persons shall not assert of any privacy, publicity, moral or similar rights) under the laws of the United States and any other country in connection with the exploitation of such materials as described hereunder.

Ok...
1. I highly doubt you're ever going to do this with MY stuff, but does this mean if you use false advertising, we can't do anything to stop you? I think you're going overboard there...
2. The word "exploitation" has negative connotations. Couldn't you have just used t...

The Nazi Holocaust is one of the most infamous episodes of cruelty in modern history. Yet few people realize that the earliest victims of the Third Reich were not Jews.

They were the elderly and disabled, those who could not fight back or escape because their bodies were too feeble. They were utterly defenseless. Yet the world turned its back on Hitler's barbarous cruelty until he began torturing and executing healthy, innocent Jews.

Why is it that modern society, which prides itself on justice and compassion for all, continues to ignore the slaughter of the defenseless? Why are the disabled shunned rather than protected? And why are judges allowed to break the law to allow a husband to murder his disabled wife?

Michael Schiavo is hardly a model husband. When Terri was in a nursing home, nurses testify that her husband asked on several occasions, "Why isn't that bitch dead yet?" Michael promised to provide therapy to his ailing wife. Yet the money that was awarded him to pay Terri's medical expenses went instead to the lawyers he hired to help him kill his own wife. One of Schiavo's ex-girlfriends wanted to testify on Terri's behalf, but did not because she was afraid of what Michael Schiavo would do to her.

Michael Schiavo refuses to provide care for his wife. He has not allowed Terri's own parents to care for her, to visit her, or even to be informed of changes in her medical condition. And now, he has sentenced his own wife to an agonizing death, a death which Florida law does not allow even a dog to suffer--death by starvation and dehydration. Why is a dog suddenly more worthy of life than a disabled human being?

It may be too late to save Terri Schindler-Schiavo. But it is not too late for America to end cruelty towards helpless innocents. Michael Schiavo belongs in jail for the rest of his life, and his accomplice, Judge Greer, deserves to be disbarred immediately. Why is it that Scott Peterson, who murdered his wife and unborn son, is punished, while the Michael Schiavos of this world escape punishment?

I wish I could say that Terri is alone, that she is the only disabled person being starved and dehydrated because she is "unwanted." But the sad truth is, hundreds, if not thousands, of other disabled and elderly people are being starved and dehydrated every day. Instead of protecting the innocent, America is on an unholy crusade to destroy them, sacrificing innocent men, women, and children on the altars of "convenience" and the Almighty Dollar. We must stop this persecution! We must respect the intrinsic value and dignity of human life! Or is our motto, Jefferson's insistence of the universal human right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", merely an empty phrase?

Looks like another potentially excellent storyline down the tubes...I'll try to get back to it. Suggestions are welcome.

On another note, I have Link X Zelda images stuck in my head for no apparent reason--I haven't played any Zelda games since last summer... Don't worry, nothing X-rated XD I might draw some of it...

For those I haven't enlightened, I got 3 A's the other week ^^ so I feel smart now.

Also, a remark concerning the strength of the Sandisk Cruzer Mini flash drive. My mother washed mine...and it STILL WORKS!! No data lost or anything. So if you're thinking of buying a flash drive...it's cheap, it's apparently very durable, and it's a hell of a lot better than carrying 128 floppies around XP

10 REALLY RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
1 I am sexy!!! *shot*
2 I have Attention Deficit Disord--Hey what's that over there?
3 I read a lot. A lot, as in, too much.
4 I still don't get people. I really don't.
5 I am the antithesis of normal (as if you hadn't already noticed just from the answers I've typed in here so far XD )
6 I have an irrational fear of misspelled wurds.
7 I have the short-term memory of a goldfish on crack.
8 I have a bizzare fascination with drug references for no apparent reason.
9 I love mythical creatures.
10 Um...I'm Southern.

9 WAYS TO WIN MY HEART / REQUIREMENTS IN THE OPPOSITE SEX
(I am writing under the assumption that I do not know Alex here. Just because someone else meets these requirements, doesn't mean you have a chance with me )
1 Be open with your feelings. If I don't know something bothers you, how can I do anything about it?
2 A good sense of humor is always a plus.
3 Be a good listener. I'll try to do the same for you.
4 We need to have a lot in common, but not EVERYthing because that would be boring.
5 Realize that sometimes I know something's all my fault, and what I could have done, and just need a shoulder to cry on.
6 You have to be fun to hang out with. After all, "friend" is the biggest part of "boyfriend". XP
7 Smother me with affection. SMOTHER!!
8 Devotion. Because cheaters suck.
9 Um...being cute is nice, but not necessary. I prefer love over lust...

8 THINGS I CARRY/WEAR EVERYDAY
1 My purse. If you ever see me without my purse, I'm probably looking for it.
2 Ankh ring made of sterling silver. I still can't believe how cheap it was...
3 Watch. I hate going someplace where there's no clock and then wondering what time it is.
4 My favorite black boots.
5 Every now and then I wear socks with cute patterns to work just to see how many people notice. People really seem to like the one with Popsicles on it. XD
6 Jeans. Unless I'm going to work or church, or it's a formal occasion.
7 Class ring.
8 Um....well, I do always wear underwear--does that count?

7 THINGS THAT ANNOY ME
1 My job. Putting up with people entirely devoid of common sense isn't exactly a fun way to spend your weekend.
2 People who refuse to keep an open mind.
3 People who insist something that isn't true, and when you find this out and confront them with it, they turn around and say "That's just what I said!"
4 Hip Hop and R+B culture. Seriously, why would anybody want to wear pants so big they barely even stay on?
5 Idiots. Especially mean idiots.
6 Overplayed songs. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" was nice the first 100 times, but now it's gotten stale.
7 Advertising. Let's face it, they just don't put as much thought into commercials anymore...

6 PLACES I'VE VISITED (And/Or lived in!)
1 Most of Europe (But i was too young to remember it)
2 Florida
3 NYC (Nice place to visit, but you DON'T wanna live there)
4 Canada
5 The Carribbean
6 Mexico

5 THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE I DIE
1 Get married and have kids.
2 Visit Italy--now that I'm old enough to remember it XD
3 Invent or improve something that will make a difference in people's lives.
4 Um...I can't tell you this one. Not in front of *gasp* the CHILDREN!!
5 Write a book and have it published.

4 THINGS I'M AFRAID OF
1 Loneliness.
2 Rejection.
3 Large crowds of people.
4 Losing the most important person in my life...

3 THINGS I DO EVERYDAY
1 Eat.
2 Go to work/school and somehow manage to either make myself look stupid, or piss someone off without really wanting to.
3 Read.

2 THINGS I'M TRYING NOT TO DO NOW
1 Go completely insane. So far, it's a losing battle.
2 My homework.
1 PERSON I WANT TO SEE NOW
1 If you don't know this one by now, you should be dragged off and shot.

I still remember long hours spent with my brother playing StarFox 64. Well, to tell you the truth, most of the time he played and I just watched and waited for my turn. It was one of those games you just can't put down. The controls were fairly simple to learn, the graphics and sound were great (for 1997 anyway), and it was just the right challenge level to keep the interest of hardcore gamers without being too frustrating. As the years ticked by, we could hardly wait for a new StarFox game to come out.

Then in January 2003, we bought StarFox Adventures, and were both disappointed. You couldn't use the Landmaster, there was too little flying, and you couldn't even shoot people with lasers. Don't get me wrong, it was different, and some aspects of the game were cute, but Rare could have done this game a lot better. The frustration of returning to ThornTail village every time you earned a Krazoa spirit, the annoying and none-too-useful Prince Tricky, and the relatively slow pace, added up to a game that I still can't play for more than about 5 minutes at a time.

Now Namco has created StarFox Assault, which returns to the series' space-shooter roots. How does it measure up to its N64 predecessor?

Graphics

Oh my God. That's pretty much the first thing you'll say when you see how this game looks. The Arwings look so real, you'd swear this was a CGI movie instead of a video game. The enemies are reminiscent of the classic enemies from SF64, and Fox and the gang looked great. Bushy fox tails look furry, Falco looks feathery, and for the most part, the characters look the way you really would expect them to look about 10 years after the defeat of Andross in SF64. Plus the Star Fox team now has sexy new uniforms that are much more detailed than the ones in SFA. The environments are beautifully rendered in breathtaking detail. Looking at the space stations, rainforests, and military bases almost made me cry.

Unfortunately, Namco didn't get everything just right. Fox's head is too narrow, he has a mouthful of fangs with no other teeth, and General Pepper looks like one of the undead. Someone please tell me what happened to the pupils of the general's eyes! Of course, such inconsistencies are to be expected by a developing team's first shot at a series Rareware had been tweaking for years, but it's sort of odd considering how beautiful everything else in the game looks.

Sound

Again, great attention to detail here. The soundtrack is a remixed and enhanced version of the classic SF64 soundtrack (which was worth earning all those medals just so you could listen to it at your leisure). The sound effects really help you get into the game. I bet blaster fire ricocheting off a wall would really sound just like that.

The voices were one aspect of the game that I wasn't expecting to be even close--after all, StarFox Assault would have an entirely new cast of voice-actors. But I was wrong. Although Slippy has a different weird voice, and Andrew appears to have suffered damage to some very sensitive organs, the other characters sounded almost exactly the same as they did in earlier games.

Gameplay

Unlike its predecessors, StarFox Assault has 3 different controller settings. In all 3, the Arwing controls are so similar to the controls from SF64 that they were easy to pick up. The difference between the control schemes is only noticeable when you're on the ground. The classic Single-Stick configuration is fairly intuitive and easy to use. The Dual-Stick and R Button Run schemes are harder to get used to, but offer you more control.

As in SF64, the missions are simple: You either follow a fixed path through the level to an enemy boss and shoot anything that gets in your way, or you find and destroy a predetermined number of targets. While you're fulfilling the main mission, you will once again have to save your teammates from the occasional enemy, but that's about as complicated as it gets. But hey, this is a space shooter. When you're trying to shoot down as many enemies as possible without being blown up yourself, you don't want to have to worry about complex missions. As an added bonus, all-range stages allow you to leave your Arwing or Landmaster and shoot at stuff on foot. The one problem with this idea is that if your ship gets destroyed and you survive, you have to check the radar and find another ship. And sometimes, that new ship is a good distance away. Prepare to do a lot of walking, folks.

Items and Gauges

The gauges are slightly different, and I'm not just talking about how the boss energy gauge now has the words "Slippy is scanning the ENEMY." running down the side. For on...

OK, quick summary of my Christmas/New Year:

12/20. Hit the mall with my 2nd cousin.

12/21-22. Went skiing. I may upload pics if you ask REAL nice.

12/24. Ate Christmas dinner at my aunt's. We always have seafood there, which means I was trying to find things to eat BESIDES the squid, octopus, mussels, and other assorted invertebrates.
Also, I got to see all the relatives I have there, which was really nice. It's kind of a shock though, when your last memory of one of your relatives is a cute prepubescent tomboy, and 3 yrs. later, she looks like some kind of pop star.

12/31. Worked. ALL DAY.
Worst. New Year's Eve. EVER.
Not that it matters to me though, it's just another day to me. I figure if you're gonna change, you shouldn't wait for a new year to start, you should start working on it NOW.

12/3. Got my wisdom teeth out. Listened to "Feel So Numb" because I thought it was funny. But a lot of things are funny when you're on laughing gas.

12/5. Started class. Had to show myself in public with these awful swollen jaws. I look like a freak.

Christmas present summary:
Jewelry. Lots of it. Jewelry is gooooood. ^____^
The complete Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.
2 Pern novels.
Best of Korn CD.
Best of Pearl Jam CD.
One of those big WWI recruitment posters with Uncle Sam that says "I WANT YOU" on it. I always wanted one of those...
MP3/CD player. Not an iPod, but good enough.
Big Föm pillow. Man, those things are comfy.

Art-wise: I've started a cute little Christmas sketch--and haven't finished it.
I've started a pic of Alex as a Pernese dragonrider--and haven't finished it.
In fact, I haven't finished anything yet. I may have something in a week. Try back then.

I plan to finish these over Christmas vacation, as I will be spending much of it in another country and won't have much else to do on a 16-hr car ride.

Also, I know there hasn't been alot here, especially compared to the amount of stuff my friends/stalk victims draw/sprite/whatever on an almost daily basis. I like to draw. But it's not exactly a passion, it's more of a hobby. A hobby that I think I'm at least mediocre at, or I wouldn't have this account, would I?

Another thing. A lot of people apparently want me to make the switch to Sheezy Art. Well, guess what. I've gotten quite comfortable here, and have little desire to pack up and move, or worse, upload everything twice onto two different sites. Plus, I have little time for one art site, much less two. Apologies to my friends (especially Charity/"Shadette", your art rocks!!) who only use Sheezy to showcase their art. I just can't make the switch right now.

So that's my life right now. Enjoy whatever holiday it is you celebrate in December: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Saturnalia, whatever. In fact, just for the hell of it, include your favorite Christmas carol in your reply (I'm really nosy, am I not?) Mine is a tie between "Silent Night" and "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence." I also kinda like "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" because of the verses about figgy pudding.

Yes, as Pearl Jam once said (hell, they wrote a whole song about it) I'm still alive! Couldn't come here because I can't access DA or my comics from home--parents would notice, and that is a biiiiig no-no...

But I'm here now, and I've finally sifted through 40 messages...

I also had the suckiest Thanksgiving in the world. The rest of the family got to go to my grandparents' house, but NOOOOOOOO, I had to work... Closest thing I got to Thanksgiving dinner was a hot dog. -.-

Oh well... Christmas list time!!

Lock of Alex's hair ;D
Stamp album (I've recently gotten into philately, go figure)
Snow (thank God I'm going to Canada where there's real snow XD )
The complete works of E. A. Poe (I can dream, can't I?)
My wuvy-dovey-sugar-kisses-honey-bear... (Are you blushing Alex? Are you?)
Actual artistic talent
Actual musical talent
A job that does not involve food (please please PLEASE!!!)

As you can see, I'm not going to get much from my list this year...but my bro says he's buying me an MP3/CD player, which is good news cuz my computer speakers broke and my bootleg music is collecting virtual cyber-dust...

OK... here's why you people haven't heard from me a lot lately.

2 weeks ago, I found out that I'd made a 45 on a statistics test. Yes. Miss Genius made an F. Quit rubbing it in.

Point is, I realized I was wasting my afternoons. Instead of studying and doing my homework, I was wasting time surfing the Net, chatting on message boards, etc.

That's why, I am only here twice a week. No daily visits to my fave websites, no message boards, nothing. At least, not until after finals.

I've been suffering MASSIVE artist's block, coupled with an extreme lack of free time. Mainly because I waste it all IM'ing like a fool. XP Might post a new sprite comic soon though.

In other news, a co-worker spilled Brasso on my purse yesterday, so I had to get a new purse. Yes, Brasso. It's a long story...9_9

I also think I might fail Statistics. Please, someone explain to me why Stats has to make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER!! I'm beginnning to think my teacher really is speaking Russian...
And oddly enough, Calculus III is disturbingly easy. You would think they would make you learn this easy stuff BEFORE you had to suffer through Cal II...Because you don't really need Cal II to understand Cal III. You really don't. It's all based on stuff from Cal I.

Also, I have seen The Grudge. If you like scary movies, WATCH IT!! It's really good. Plus it gets kinda funny when 2 or 3 people die in EXACTLY the same way, and they don't figure out that it's not a good idea to go...whoops, almost spoiled it for ya. But yeah, after we watched it, my bro and I kept making the choking noise trying to scare each other. It was fun.
