I was halfway up the stairs, when I realized that I probably had blood on my shoes. Sure enough, after I had taken them off and was headed back up the stairs again, I found a few partial shoe prints in blood. Not much, mind you, but enough to perturb me.
I already suspected I had blood on my clothes, and rightly so. Once I had gotten up to the bathroom and turned on the light, I could see I had blood on my jacket, blood on my shirt, blood on my hands, and blood on my pants.
I was mostly upset about the shirt and jacket. I wear the jacket often, and the shirt was rather nice looking, one I was planing making a favorite.
The pants simply added insult to injury. I was not terribly fond of these pants, as they were somewhat uncomfortable. The crotch is too high, or something like that. It feels like someone is cupping your balls in a hostile manner all day long. Not recommended. Nonetheless, they were in good condition, and I could still get a lot of, abet somewhat discomforting, mileage out of them.

But before you go suspecting me of murdering someone, this all came about from an act of good will. One I am no longer interested in relaying at this time.

Good day sir.

Yeah, anyways, this lil' bundle of joy. [link]

Why on earth I was investigating this basement, I haven't a clue. I think I got lost, or something. Anyways, within the basement, the level beneath was larger then the one on top, like an underground pyramid. Eventually, if you went deep enough, you'd come upon a massive warehouse-like underground city, and th' damn thing still went even farther down.

That is where I found those creatures. They were pretty fast, and to tell the truth, I never got a real good look at them. What I remember the most are the hands, or more accurately, the massive number of fingers on each hand. Long before you even heard these things coming up behind you, one could feel the air pressure from their hands on the back of your neck. *Shudder*

Also, there was a family of three that kept on coming into the basement. They were all psychotic.
The boy, probably the least crazy of them all, basically hated everyone. He would drag people down there, lock them down onto this rack, and from a secure, well-lit control booth, torture them. Of course, the blood would attract the creatures, who would finish you off.

The mother would also drag people down there, but not because she hated them, but because she wanted to "save" them. She considered everyone to be her "children," and thought that the way the creatures would kill a person was so horrific, it would wipe away all their sins, so that they could get to heaven. I do not know why she did not do this to her own son. Perhaps she thought he could not be saved.

The father was the most insane of the three. While the son and the mother revered the way the creatures fed on and killed a person, for the father, it was about the creatures themselves. He wanted to become one of them. He would strip off all his clothes, and when the creatures swarmed their next victim, he would join them, taking part in their killing and feeding.

Ok, I know what you're thinking...

"Oh, great, here's another whiny bastard complaining about the latest version of Deviantart in their oh so precious journal. Perhaps they'll indulge us in some dark poetry, so as to better convey the angst that has been wrought down upon them by these changes."

Well... I ain't. Change happens. Deal or die. Besides, it isn't that much different.

Truth be told, I didn't see this coming at all. I have a terrible habbit of ignoring DeviantART news, so this morning when I visited this site, it came as quite a surprise.

It's different. Not bad. Not good. Just different. (Though, specifically speaking, there is no such thing as good or bad, as the two are simply subjective words.)

I have to admit, though, the ability to browse Collections is a nice touch. However, I have yet to discover how to search for particular Collections. Ah well...

And in other news, I have discovered, to my great distain, that I am indeed an Art Hack.

Art Hacks are people who, for some unknown reason, think their art is far better than it actually is. They claim knowledge and skill when they have none. Untill recenty, I was under the belief that the art I was capable of was pretty good, and that recently I simply wasn't trying my hardest.

You see, throughout my life, whenever I made some sort of personal breakthrough in the field of arts, the piece that I made that breakthrough with would become my favorite. I would look at it and think, "Wow. That's actually pretty good. It's the best I've done so far. It's an improvement, and I'm proud of it."
I have not made something I was truely proud of in over three years. Everything was "ok" or "not bad." Artistic improvement has ceased, and probably even degraded. I simply don't feel I'm at the point where I should be. I don't expect to be any sort of notable artist, but I expected to be better than this.

Now, I am aware that this is not entirely my fault. For the most part, I am working with less than preferable equipment (A substandard version of Photoshot that is over 6 years old, and a tablet and laptop that are even older).
However, the bulk of the blame does indeed rest fully on my shoulders. It used to be that, for every picture I put up on deviantart, there were at least 10 others that didn't make it, it's unfinished breathren, flawed and thus used as simply a warm up for the better piece. I used to have a sketch book, that I would carry with me always, constantly drawing in it, filling it with doodles and sketches.
In addition, I hate life drawing. If one is to become any sort of artist, one must learn to draw the world without, before drawing the world within. I have taken life drawing classes in the past, and always improved, but as I did not continue after the class was finished, any skills I aquired quickly faded away.

I would say that I intend to resolve this matter, but I know myself better than that. I am not particularly good at keeping promises, especially to myself.

Now, for all those fancy-shmancy high-class artists out there, that may be a feat you passed long ago, something you'd thunb your nose at. But for me, that's a bit o' a nice landmark.

... Hmmm.... normally people tend to give out those, whatchamacallits, special pics when they get so-an-so many pageviews. The calculations within different algorithms and spells can be mixed, creating different effect.
Teleport Algorithms:
This particular algorithm allows the user to manipulate position within space. There are 6 variations of the Algorithm

- Jump: The most basic teleport spell. Requires that the user indicates exactly what is being moved, the exact enter and exit points, and the path that will be taken. All in all, it can be a tedious process.

- Blink: Originally created as a defense spell. A non-movement teleport, that vibrates the subject between non-existence and quasi-existence, letting them pass straight through an attack.

- Step: Linear Teleport. Compresses space along a plane in a designated direction, and then instantly propels the subject across the gap. Subject may experience a sense of momentum after the spell.

- Disintegrate: The singular offensive teleport spell. A designated area, object, or subject is redirected towards the position of nill. In laymans terms, it's a teleport spell with no exit point.

- Teleport: The real mccoy teleport spell. It has more efficient calculations, and algorithmic shortcuts built in, so it can be cast easily, almost instantly, and with very little energy use.\

- Portal: A non-instantaneous teleport spell, which creates two temporary two-dimensional gates. Movement can pass between the two easily and instantly. Users should be forewarned, do not get caught within a portal area while one is opening or closing. Results can be messy.

Although I claim to be no expert, I have had quite a bit of expirience with web comics. In all the good ones, there has been a significant hook.
For instance, a comic such as sluggy freelance has a comic hook. It starts out very funny, so you begin reading it for laughs. Then as time passes, you become attached to the characters, and evenutally, dependant on them. The comic no longer needs to make you laugh, nor have any real story. We know the caracters, and we come back for them.

Another kind of hook I have discovered is the mystery hook. The viewer, and probably the main character as well, is presented with a mystery, or puzzel that must be solved. It piqes out curiosity, and as we discover more about it, we grow attached to the characters along the way. It's like we're on a journey with them, and they become our friends, close to us.

And still another hook is the fantastic Hook. Some aspect of the comic, either the artwork, or the storyline, or the writing, awes the viewer in such a way, as to make them say, "That was beautiful. I'd really like to see/read more of stuff like that. I think I'll look more in depth at this!" Then, as with the other two, the viewer becomes attached to the characters or situations, and becomes a fan.

Recently, I've come upon a webcomic called Platinum Grit. Now, due to the way the main page is set up, instead of going to the first "Chapter" in the comic, I started with the lates one. And thusly, I have discovered a new hook.
The sesual hook.

Roughly, oh, I don't know, 10 or so pannels in, a young woman flops down on her bed, and begins to masterbate. And she continues to masterbate, on and off, throughout the entire chapter. Of coures, my initial reaction was ,"Hot Damn." Sex is a very powerful motivator, possibly the most powerful of them all. So it was not wonder that, when I finished that chapter, I went to the beginning, and began to read the whole thing. And I discovered it's rich array of characters, and daring storyline.

And to think, I would have never unearthed this jem, if I hadn't seen that girl trying to "get off."

Let me tell you a secret. I am afraid that, in some twisted way, I may be Emo. This may explain my dislike for them, a dislike possibly created by a underlying fear of becoming one, or becoming moreso of one.
Given, I do not dye my hair black, or color my lips or nails in dark colors. Nor do I listen to "Emo" music, or dress in the appropriate "Emo" fashions. I did have a myspace page once, but the whole concept displeased me, as did the high number of prostitute mempers, so I deleted it.

The biggest problem is, "Emo" is so hard to define, it's difficult to tell if you're one or not, especially if one does not seem to fit into any other predefined social group. This may be petty, but I do believe, at times, I may like to blend into a crowd. Just not the Emo one.

Friggin wow.

Ok, so earlier today, I submitted some Fan art to a webcomic site. And not only did the author write me back, and say that my art kicked ass, but he also put a link to my deviantart site to his.

I can only express myself in one way.

I feel like God reached down, tapped me on the shoulder, and saidith "Justin, my son, I'm going to give you angelic powers. Except that these aren't going to be sissy angelic powers, they're going to be badass angelic powers, like super strength, and flight, and creating inexplicable explosions of light'n stuff like that. Plus, instead of poofy, girly bird wings an a white robe n' harp n' stuff, I'll be giving you some big ol' bat wings, a trenchcoat with spikes, and a cleaver, with a fifteen inch-long blade."
And I sayith back, "Oh. My. God."
And God sayith, "Yup, that's my name, don't wear it out."
And with that, God flew up into the air in a bolt of lightning, and I was left standing there with my newfound powers, crying with sheer joy, and blowing up ducks in the nearby pond.

Ok, first of all, an apology for not updating a single damn thing for so long. I've been busy. which is only half a lie. anyways...

Well, I may finally have an on-campus job that I enjoy. I was praying to the gods of employment that it would not come to working in the food industry (I tried that once, hated it to the depths of the deep friers). Lo and behold, the gods have answered my prayers, and I may (just may) get a job as a staff artist for CAB. I... suddenly can't remember what that stands for. it's basically the committie for setting up... oh, wait I remember now. It's the Campus Activities Board. I think. that seems to fit. anyways, I'll be given projects like setting up and designing posters an' stuff like that, along with a team of other artists. Though this is not the first time I've worked with a creative team, tit'll (tee-hee) be the first time I've worked with a creative team as a paying job. so woo hoo. Boo ya. cowabunga. Ummm... Let's go, stan. Right-o.

Now, here's hoping I actually get the gig.
