Last week-end i spent in Zywiec Beskids with comrade from work.
It was damn good we've lucky, becouse weather was perfect, and was very good visibility ! We saw High Tatra mountains from Babia Góra

Soon here will be photos from this trip, but first, rest from Siberia !

Some info

The Beskids (Polish: Beskidy, Czech: Beskydy, Slovak: Beskydy) is a traditional name for a series of mountain ranges in the eastern Czech Republic, northwestern Slovakia, southern Poland and in Western Ukraine.

The Beskids are approximately 600 km in length and 50-70 km in width. They begin in Moravia at the Moravian Gate, continue to the north of the Tatra Mountains and end in Ukraine. The eastern border of the Beskids is disputed: according to older sources it is the sources of the Tisza River, according to newer sources the Beskids end at the Ushok Pass at the Polish-Ukrainian border. The name of the highest mountain depends on the definition of the eastern border of the Beskids. The highest peak of the western part of the Beskids is the Babia Góra-Babia Hora located on the Polish-Slovak border.

A major part of the Beskids is part of the Outer Western Carpathians. The Lesser Beskids (Slovak: Nízke Beskydy, Polish: Beskid Niski) and the Bieszczady situated to the east of them are part of the Eastern Carpathians.

The name of the mountains probably comes from a Thracian or Illyrian origin. The Beskids are currently rich in forest and coal. In the past they were rich in iron ore, with important plants in Ostrava and Třinec.

There are many tourist attractions, especially the increasingly-popular skiing resorts.

From about month ago i'm computer-scientist in The Polish Society for Nature Protection "Salamandra" Here are great atmosphere and nice peoples with hobbies.



The Polish Society for Nature Protection "Salamandra"

The Polish Society for Nature Protection "Salamandra" was founded in 1993. It is a non-governmental, non-profit association and it is one of the most active ecological organisations in Poland. It preserves the values of nature and undertakes educational campaigns. It is based in Poznan but there also branches in Lodz, Gdansk, Olsztyn, Szczecin, Brzozow, Trzcianka and Trzemeszno. Futhermore there exist more than 40 circles of pupils. There are more than 2000 members of "Salamandra". The number of volunteers who are taking part in various activities numbers more than 500.
"Salamandra" puts a great emphasis on high scientific standard and good organisation of its projects. Every undertaking is planned and supervised by a specialist of a relevant field. That's why its work excels in efficiency
"Salamandra" implements yearly dozens of different projects for nature protection. The most important ones are:

Couple days ago i've found some interesting info about russian cameras. Personally i've used for few years my loved, rubbish Zenits cameras and still i've much respect to this equipment !

Especially i want to focus on absolutely, ultimate rare KGB spy's camera Zenit MF-1

Description: Zenit MF-1:
An authentic relic of Soviet intelligence era. Created after WWII, this subminiature espionage camera was issued only to intelligence agents. A sharp and fast lens, silent shutter, and clockwork motor drive allows for clandestine shooting. The included film cutter slices ordinary 35mm film into the MF-1's required 21mm format. It's tiny size allows for easy concealment. It is still classified as military technology.

Authentic and strictly controlled
The design and functionality of the MF-1 has remained essentially unchanged for the better part of 50 years. Each unit is assembled by hand and constructed to the highest possible standards. To this day, the MF-1 is classified as official Russian military technology - and each unit must undergo a lengthy and meticulous bureaucratic procedure to be successfully exported outside of the country.

History

Circa 1950
Responding to a pressing need for subtle, silent recording of classified documents and personnel movements, a subminiature camera is conceived at the Zenit photographic factory of Moscow. Initially called the "F-21," this tiny camera can be easily concealed within a jacket, belt, handbag, or hat. It's clockwork motor drive fires several frames in succession - ensuring that critical subjects are not missed. A fast lens and responsive shutter ensure operation in bright or low light. As the years wear on, the F-21 is produced in limited annual quantities of approximately 200 to 300 units. Each individual camera is assigned to a specific security operative, and kept under tight controls. It was absolutely inconceivable to export this camera or apply it to any non-intelligence purpose.

After 1990
Following the fall of the Soviet Union, the camera is renamed the "MF-1," but remains essentially the same - except for some minor technical improvements. Small quantities of 10 pieces or less are produced each year, mostly as replacement units for older models. Although the technology is nearly a half-century old, the tiny camera is so potent that it's still very usable today.

Couple days ago, i've bought my new monitor (Dell Black 21" P1130 Flat Trinitron CRT Monitor w/Base) After old one (Sony 17") has broken down i've got new for 105 eur.
This monitor is from second hand, but newer used before (left in magazine). I'm verry happy. Now i can work with higher resolution 1600x1200 at 85 Hz. Everything looks great, especially deviantART !
Of course working with photos, watching movies, surfing over web is also big pleasure

Yesterday we are come back from Republic of Altai in Russia

Our trip was absolutely asskicking!! We "done" 10.000 km !! by train. At this moment this is journey of my life. Beautiful wild and raw nature, amazing mountains and places, nice peoples.
Love it all, love Russia, and i want to back there in future. Russia was my dream for years ! and now has come true

For this moment i've only couple of photos, soon when i'll scan negatives from my analog camera, i'll show the rest

Hello there

Today is the first day of summer and i remember, that newly was first day of spring Time is going fast, somethimes too fast.

Personally i'm preparing to the trip "of my life". We are going to Russia, southern Syberia for a month. Our destination are mountains of Altai We are plannig trek there for two weeks, 25-30 kilograms backpack, tent and flask of water. Five days in trans - siberian railway 4700 kilometers in one way....might be great ... will be great !! this is my trio, that i'm dreamed about for long time!
And most important, highest peak of Siberia have 4506 meters

I bought new body Canon EOS 500N two weeks ago. Now my Zenit made in Russia is going to the rack ... but with full respect and honor!

I think that was, a good chance, becouse price of the body was only 40 eur Also I bought (yesterday) M42 screw adapter for that EOS (10 eur ), that I can use my Zenit lenses ... see below.

My PENTACON SIX TL loaded with Provia 100F pro 6x6 and Carl Zaiss wide-angle lens enter to the action also I want to use me Zenit camera. This will be some "analog" journey.
Of course I'll using my girlfriend digital compact camera.

Past week-end we (me and my girlfriend) made trip to the Szklarska Poreba in Karkonosze mountains. Now I complete all photos that I want to show at deviantART, here I show all that shots gathered

New year, new hopes.

I'm get my first real job I'm working in library at University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan (my home city).
Today I'm started my third week in this job. Time is going fast, so fast !
At the beginning I'm really stressed, but now everything is going good, and I'm being feeling better everyday

I'm planning to get outdoor, and take some new shots, becouse I'm suffering due out of fresh photos

So, we have first day of december

I feel, that christmas is slowly coming, it's time to buy some gifts for our families and towards. I have some ideas about it.

Today I sit over my desk, turn on atmospheric music nad watch sunset rays over the window. Today we have great weather, it's sunny and warm. I want to take my camera, and go deep inside my favorite forests I think I will do it, maybe tomorrow...I want to hear the sounds of the nature, and nothing more. Only the calm of birds and winds blow.

I'm missing it.

Past week-end we spend (me and friends) at abandoned Owinska Mental Home. This place is absolutely asskicking We've palanned to back there at the future. Of course we make some shots from there...

Some history about this place:

"... Owinska is a town near Poznan (about 10 km north of Poznan). Its Mental Home was the oldest hospital for mental ill people in the Wielkopolska region.
The German army occupied Owinska in mid-September 1939. The mental home was taken over by the Gau-Selbstverwaltung of Poznan. A Nazi commissioner was put in charge of the mental home. The new chief demanded a list of all Owinska patients and forbid discharging anyone from the hospital. The staff was told that Owinska mental home should be closed and all patients transferred to other hospitals.
The SS Sonderkommando Lange was ordered to Owinska for exterminating all patients.

In the second half of October 1939, the first patients were picked up by military trucks, under surveillance of SS men. 1-3 trucks left Owinska Mental Home every day. The staff of the hospital didn't know where they went and why.
At first all men were deported, followed by the women, finally 78 children were sent to death on 11 November 1939. Until 30 November 1939 the Owinska Mental Home was empty, apart from a few persons for economic affairs.

A lot of the patients were killed in a primitive gas chamber at Fort VII in Poznan. Later mobile gas chambers (gas vans) drove the people to Murowana Goslina. During the drive all victims were killed by exhaust fumes.

Each incoming truck at Fort VII held around 25 persons. After their arrival they were brought into a gas chamber which was installed in a bunker in the court of Fort VII. The closed door was sealed with clay. The prisoners had to stay in the gaschamber when the SS installed gas cylinders with (probably) carbon monoxide besides the entrance. When all victims were dead, a special group of regular prisoners were forced to open the door and to remove the killed persons. The corpses were loaded onto trucks and driven away ..."
