Sorry, I left the concert early. My allergies were almost incapacitatingly bad. I left after Interpol, which is the only band I really wanted to see.

HOWEVER, the whole day was a BLAST. I was there for 9 hours, anyway. Let's start at the beginning, shall we?

12:00-2:00 PM
Right as I get there, I head for the main stage and wait for Kasabian to come out at 1:30. It was a wonderful way to start the day indeed, though they were only on for half an hour! They did Clubfoot and some other really great songs, though I'm left to wonder how the synthesizer parts were played. I didn't really see a keyboard aside from a little one up front, and it wasn't played too much. Still, great opener, I wish they had a longer set.

2:00-2:30
After Kasabian's done rockin', I head over to the Seattle stage, where Mountain Con has started. I love their whole presentation, they were sorta like redneck white rapper alt-rock something. One of their amps said "Dodge" on it Wink . Their big finish was that one song that goes like "I woke up and the morning was grey" etc. Pretty good stuff.

2:30-3:00
Three stages all playing at once had me walking around a lot! After Mountain Con finished, I checked out the Caesars. They have that one "Jerk it Out" song that's in all those iPod commercials on TV. Now, that's a good song, actually, and their others were also well done. Now, the next band that was on that stage was Tegan and Sara. Since I didn't really want to have the taste of vomit in my mouth for the rest of the day, I took a little break.

4:00-4:45
Finally a good band starts playing: The Lashes. Now, these guys are great. I love bands that love their crowds. One problem though: the electricity kept shutting off on their stage! In the middle of songs! But the band was cool about it, and gave away free shit to the [rather small] crowd, like t-shirts and buttons. Anyways, after 2 or 3 songs that magically cut out, they finished perfectly. I now love the Lashes. Anyways, my mom [yeah, my mom went with me] wanted to check out the band Hot Hot Heat, so I knew where she was [the main stage]. I caught the last 1.5 songs, and what I heard was awful. This made me glad I was able to be a part of The Lashes instead of this Hot Hot Heat band. Hearing the vocalist reminded me of that one internet image of the guy doing squats and his ass exploding out of his tights.

4:40-5:00
After Hot Hot Heat, I sort of aimlessly ended up back at the What's Next stage, where Ash was playing. Ash is awesome, and that's all I have to say.

5:00-5:40
I didn't really want to see MxPx. DJ Riott did though, he'll tell you about it [I think]. However, I saw Vendetta Red instead, at the Seattle Stage. I was immediately reminded of Rage Against the Machine, except not at all political. Though they did have a song about priests raping kids. These guys were crazy, their rhythm guitarist was climbing the scaffolding and stuff [but the stage wasn't really that big, or high].

5:40-5:55
I went to check out the Kaiser Chiefs at the What's Next stage. They have that one song "I Predict a Riot" which I don't really care for, but there was noone else good playing. After about 15 minutes of them not showing up, I went to the main stage to wait for Social Distortion. Just my luck, they started to come out on stage as soon as I got out of the extremely thick crowd. Tough luck, Kaiser Chiefs. I hate you.

5:55-6:15
Waiting for Social D. Listening to really annoying sound guys setting up and making us deaf.

6:15-7:00
Social D. "Haha I can't hear you my ears are bleeding." Well, not bleeding, but damn they were loud. And extremely awesome. One of my favorites of the day. They played their popular cover of Johny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

7:00-7:30
I was going to go to see The Bravery, but I figured since they were on the same stage as the Kaiser Chiefs and the Chiefs suck and were late, I thought I may miss Interpol if I leave. So I waited. I wish I went though, several friends around me met up and were like "Wow man The Bravery was AWESOME!" A little disappointed, but I came here to see Interpol anyway!

7:30-8:30
YES! Interpol rocked, I knew they would! They did stuff off both their albums. Also, have you seen their bassist (3rd from left)? Sexy.

8:30-now
Time to part ways with EndFest n.n . My allergies were terrible by the time Interpol was done. It felt like there was no skin on my entire face, and my ass itched like crazy, and I had no nose to speak [smell?] of. So here I am, sitting at home. I didn't really want to see Queens of the Stone Age or United States of Electronica though, and they were the last two bands playing.

But all in all, the time I did spend there [9 hours] was worth it and more. Even though...

So I saw this band today... I have to say, it was thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend their albums, "Your Favorite Music" and "The End of Love."

1,066 pageviews

---

This is the story of the Battle of Hastings that was fought on the 14th October 1066. An event so significant, it completely changed the course of English history. To speak of this battle without recourse to the events that came before, would be an injustice to the people of this island who have fought and died for her. What makes this event so important to the English is the immutable fact that it was the last time any foreign power was to conquer her. Without doubt, a lesson that became indelibly etched into this island race - for ever. This must surely be the one conflict that every British student and adult alike can recount - hopefully, along with the naming of the two main protagonists.

Harold's men had been arriving all day in small groups on the 13th October 1066. These men had fought a battle on the 25th September, 260 miles to the north and were now expected to fight another only a few days later. Despite the hardship of it all, the troops morale must have been quite high. Having defeated Hardrada would have boosted their confidence, But not their numbers. Edwin and Morcar declined to help on this occasion, preferring to mind their business in the north. This lack of support severely reduced the numbers Harold would be able to use in the battle. How many veterans of Stamford Bridge were at Hastings is not known. It is clear that he recruited many of his force on the trip south. His soldiers came from as far a field as Somerset and Devon in the west and from Essex and Kent in the south east. Harold knew that a battle was inevitable as no form of dialogue to end the dilemma seems to have been made. Harold made the decision to fight William before he could consolidate any further. The location of the battle was chosen with care by Harold. Caldbec Hill was chosen for a number of reasons. Firstly it was well known in the area. It gave a natural advantage to anybody wishing to fight from there because of its natural all round visibility. It was easy to reach by road or track from London and was close ( possibly too close ) to William's position. By nightfall, at least 7500 men should have arrived. Made up of housecarls and fyrd, preparations were laid to challenge William as soon as possible. This would be indicative of Harold's impetuous nature. Why Harold chose to fight William the next day has always been something of a mystery. If he had waited another day for his full force to arrive, the outcome may have been totally different. Many theories have been put forward for this. Harold always had a reputation for being impetuous and impatient. He may also have been informed of atrocities carried out by William on the population, so wanted to conclude this battle sooner rather than later. His hand may have been forced when William was informed of Harold's arrival and pre-empted his first move. If Harold was nothing else he was his fathers son, a patriot through and through. His father defied the king when be refused to punish the people of Dover when they were abused by Eustace of Boulogne, and paid the consequences. The Godwin family were for the people.

William had now been in Hastings for almost two weeks. Food must have been in short supply, so he had soon to make a decision. Should he wait for Harold to come to him, or should he break out and go on the offensive? The decision was made for him. He was not prepared to be trapped or starved into submission. No mention seems to have been made about re-provision by Sea. There was plenty of time for his ships to return home for supplies, conditions permitting. A theory has been put forward that William may have had his ships burned to stop desertion. He left his men in no doubt that this was a do or die expedition. The morning of the 14th October 1066 would be the culmination of a battle between two men who had politically and mentally been at war for many years.

Each side knew the location of the other. Harold on Caldbec Hill and its rallying point of the Old Hoare Apple Tree and William in Hastings. At first light, William assembled his men and informed them of what was expected of them through his generals. He would have had to send out his scouts to recall the foraging parties. Many atrocities were committed in this area and we can assume that foraging and ransacking went hand in hand. Prayers would have been said throughout the night prior to setting out. Weapons would have been sharpened and wagons loaded with armour and provisions. William's men set off in a long column, due to the forest nature of the terrain at that time. William must have been relieved that the situation was coming to a conclusion as morale was possibly beginning to wane amongst the foot soldiers, who were less concerned about moral crusades and promises of wealth to...

I dunno why, but as the years go on, Thanksgiving becomes less and less important as a national holiday. In fact, pretty much every holiday is being sort of bitterly mitigated year by year. I only got like, 5 kids at my house, last halloween.
4. AnimeRemix, SoundTempest, VGmix, the whole lot of them.
5. Webcomics! (Qwantz, aLp, Chugworth, GameUnder...)
6. My vintage digital/analog hybrid Ensoniq ESQ1 (wut!)
7. My Yamaha PSR-2 keyboard.
8. My freakin' awesome NASA bed/pillow (you know, the foamy stuff!)
9. Thrift stores! Cheapest brand-name/designer clothing ever.
10. This cool little Easter Island Statue thing on my desk that holds pens (it's so stylin'!)
11. My Nomad MP3 Player, god knows where I'd be if I still used CDs... guh.
12. Cable internet!
13. The Libertarian Party
14. That awesome turkey I had today, it was soooo moist and perfect and it like MELTED OFF THE BONES zomg.
15. your mom
and are labeled clearly

Ubo's Restaurant will be a children's audio book, available for free through Hellven.org's Auld Lang Sine contest, aka [link]

The story is about a young man named Ubo who travels far away from home and opens a nice little restaurant on the outside of town to support his poor father. The album will be available by Dec. 31st, 2004 possibly sooner?

I had the best day today! I went to another all-day concert! I don't think I wrote about Farm-Aid last week... nope! That was awesome too, but today I saw (and this was the schedule!):

3:00 - 3:30 Metric
3:35 - 4:20 Muse
4:25 - 5:10 Psychedelic Furs
5:15 - 6:00 Yeah Yeah Yeahs
6:05 - 7:05 X
7:10 - 7:55 Violent Femmes
8:00 - 8:45 Franz Ferdinand
8:50 - 9:35 Echo & The Bunnymen
9:40 - 10:40 The Presidents
of the United States

Quite the lineup! I had never really heard Metric or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before, but those were some sassy chicks, man! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs chick was TOTALLY FUCKING INSANE! She was like rolling around on the stage and spitting water everywhere. The music sucked but the stage antics more than made up for that .
hooray!

Also somewhat of cool news. I went to Bumbershoot yesterday (www.bumbershoot.com) and ALMOST saw a bunch of cool bands. However, it was SOOOO packed that I only saw Control Machete (mexican rap!) and Galactic (Soul/Jazz/Blues improv band, a la Phish) which was pretty cool. Also, I got collaterally high! Wheeeeeeeee!

But seriously kids, don't do drugs. It was so nasty, dudes! I got sick or something and I actually had to stay home from school today because my throat swelled up and ohgod it burns.

I took advantage of my freetime, however, and made a new song!

[link]

So that's ok.

D: I think that's really all I have going on in my life right now. So so bored! With that in mind, I'd like to give a shoutout to the whole Wentz family for being people to talk to so I don't die from loneliness or something :E ha!

In other news, I have more than 750 pageviews now. Hooray for important benchmark numbers!

Yes, for free! There's more info inside the .rar. Hope you like it. It's enough of an excuse to have me make another journal entry about it. I worked on this for a straight... week. If you know me, you know I usually spend about an hour on songs, so this is quite the feat! (feet)

in other news...

I rented Tales of Symphonia last week. I got pretty far for 5 days! I LOVE THIS GAME OK now I want to play it again. Anyone who appreciates anime or RPGs should go out immediately and buy it. If you don't like either, go out and rent it You might like it!

This game was just so fascinating. Very well done (well except for the music. Thought that was disappointing. Shame on you, Motoi! Tales of Phantasia was better!). My only gripe is COLETTE! I WISH SHE WOULD CHOKE AND DIE! But other than that, all the characters are cool, especially Genis <3.

I also finished watching another series, Violinist of Hameln. You may have played the SNES game, which was quite a ridiculous game! However this cartoon is a very serious plot-driven fantasy show! Near gag-less. Very interesting though. The world and the plot was built around music and musical ideas.

Also, school starts soon! I'm going to be a HS Senior

hmm, whaddya know, I practically forgot about this thing over the course of a few days.

It's pretty much become a useless page. The only people I know here are hyperactive OCR forum kids (who are also furries?) and it's not like they talk to me anyway

But hey, I have like 500-something pageviews now. SOMEONE'S obviously looking at my page, which is neat. But only to find that my art is just a few airbrush strokes and 2 billion photoshop filters. And that I have a rather uneventful and spasmatic journal but hey I HAVE MUSIC DON'T I?

Anyways, I think I should reward my mild popularity with a brand new song!
[link]
Have fun downloading if you're on dialup

Also, some other good news. I got an offer to be featured on a compilation CD by some weird Swedish goth fantasy label called Waerloga Records. They found me through soundtempest.net (go zircon!) and liked my ethnic neo-arabian shit, so I'm gonna pump out some more of that for them I suppose. Anyways I believe I now have a chance to become mildly popular and make a little bit of money (after all, noone pirates music this bad) from those weird fantasy roleplaying-types So yeah my life is going pretty freaking well right now, even if I'm sharing my happiness with even weirder people than me. Oh yeah and here's their website (check out the first demo song, Vrapogat. Hilarious):
[link]
As you can plainly see and hear, their aim is to push out "Dark Ritualistic Fantasy" music to all the peoples of Sweden and maybe some other countries while they're at it.

Should be a pretty fun and rewarding ride from here on out. But not without "work" obviously

Yeah, sure I got 100 bucks and a Shure SM58 and a Shure BG 1.0, but that's really not the problem. The main problem was, I barely saw my family. Here's the situation -

-Get up groggy and malnourished around 7:00 AM.
-Race to school only to get there a few minutes late (still malnourished)
-Get the obligatory Smallest Box of Candy In The World (TM) from the school [but at least it's something right? Funny how they gave me so much crappy bubblegum]
-Have some lunch [really crappy taco salad]
-Have music class [my big highlight of any average day]
-Go home via my grandma's house [she gave me bag clips and gum for my birthday. What the shit?]
-Get home at 3:45
-Whine to all my online buddies about how bad my 17th birthday was so far.
-Mom comes home at 7:25 PM
-We go out to a semi-nice dinner. Good onion rings.
-Tried to go to Fry's but they closed 20 minutes ago, some night workers closing up shop laughed at us in our car.
-Came home, wrote a journal about how boring my birthday was. Hey wait a second...
-My Dad doesn't get home till 11 PM. Maybe I can stay up long enough to say goodnight to him before I go upstairs to my room and pass out from all those onion rings.

But man, ONE good thing happened today at least. Well, I thought I'd be bored as fuck during this ASB [that's the " school government" for those older ones that have forgotten high school reading this ] meeting. But to my surprise, the elementary class elected their craziest kid to represent them. Now keep in mind my school is one fourth "special kids," as in, kids with total social anxiety disorder, or other serious mental or physical illnesses. Seventy-Four percent of my school is just kids with ADD or some fake disorder that the doctors over-prescribe these days [Aspberger's? What the shit is that? More like PERSONALITY TRAIT!] And then the last 1 percentage is the normal kids, like me. And the school only being about 70 students small, I guess I just called myself the only normal dude. Which is almost right, except I can be weird sometimes .

But man, I'm trailing too far from the meeting! Anyways, this kid the elementary elected, he's a very eccentric retard. First of all he waves his little withered 3-fingered arm around [which is really creepy cause he touches people a lot X_X] and he LOVES to talk, even though you don't understand half of what he says [when he does though, it has nothing to do with anything]. During the meeting, of course, he had a lot of questions. Following one of his questions about the "Knighted States Merica," he started blabbering again, but after a few seconds he starts formulating the Pledge of Allegiance. It took all I had not to laugh, and goddammit, I laughed. Seriously, it's the funniest thing I've ever fucking seen in my 2 years at the school. And some weird shit goes down at my school. A lot of it. I'm totally serious, though, when I say I couldn't ask for a better education than this .

Well I hope you all enjoyed THIS edition of "SOC Goes Rambling On and On Theatre" Goodnight everybody, and happy fucking birthday to me .

Mrs. Humphrey - Stop hanging around our school. You have no business here. You're what, over 50? All you can find time to do is come do your precious son's fucking homework for him? It's your fault he hasn't fucking overcome his dyslexia yet. And for the love of God, LOSE WEIGHT AND SHUT YOUR FACE. You have no business here, wench.
Kelly - Dude, why are you still gay? (hehehehe, kidding)
Rachel - You could have told me your nipples were infected and diseased before you SHOWED THEM TO ME. Take those uglyass rings out and I'll give you some moisturizer.

prozax - Seriously, shut the fuck up. I don't care that you don't think I'm funny. Isn't that obvious?

That dude that draws the bad Hanna-Barbera porn - You are a poor excuse for an artist. You sure picked an odd hobby for someone so unfamiliar with the female anatomy.
EsperNet servers - Stop resetting all the time. It's fucking annoying.

The concert ended up pretty freakin good. I got loads of good comments from the audience on "8456." The rest of the songs performed without any problems. However the Bach one had some problems. I guess a certain person (anonymity!) had been waving a stuffed pig (hahahahano) at Kevin (my other bandmate) and he screwed up. Then I screwed up and it was like "blah" then somehow we managed to keep going and finish the song.

The computer showing the Winamp Milkdrop plugin during my song didn't screw up either, so I'm thankful for that. I have this feeling that some people walked away liking Milkdrop AVS better than my song! Hehehehe. Anyways, the link to the song played at the concert is found here:
[link]
Sorry, there are no recordings of the actual concert though but who would want that?

I have a concert tomorrow at about 7 PM. Hopefully everything will work out as planned . I'm in a chamber band at my school (not the kind of string quartets you usually picture as a " chamber band," all we've got are keyboards, a guitar, a bass, and a drum kit ) But we'll be playing a song with the school choir, "Reach For the Sun" by the Polyphonic Spree. Quite the energetic tune, that is. We're also playing Bach's Siciliano in Eb Major, and a sort of arranged version of " Bittersweet Symphony" by the Verve Pipe.

Also, one of my originals "8456" will be played while the Milkdrop AVS plugin for winamp gets projected onto a wall (good Concert lengthener, eh? 9 freaking minutes). Coolness. I know most of our audience will be old people though, I hope none of them get heart attacks! Hahahahaha. Wiggy.

Wishmeluck. I'll tell you OverCoat art viewers how things go

Well tonight was the last show of VG Frequency. For the semester, anyways. See my buddy Larry DJs a Videogame music/remixes show down in Georgia, at Emory. I love the show, I listen to it every week <3 Well actually one week I was at a Seattle Symphony concert so I missed it. Oh well, it's the Symphony, right?

[link]
Is where his show is at. After Winter Break he should be up and DJing again, so hooray.

Also, the other day I posted the Anime Remix banner. Seriously, check the site out, it's pimp.
[link]

Also, my last two VGMixes are doing quite well. Look for em at vgmix.com under the same name I'm using here. But I'm clearly not the best, check out some of the Stuff of Legends and Must-haves (the best is actually somewhere around Good Stuff little tip from soc)

I believe that's enough plugging for one day. Let's just hope someone actually reads this stuff!

Crazy windstorms today. A whole lotta ripped off roofs, fallen powerlines, and trees blocking I-405

Anyways, school got cancelled tomorrow because a powerline snapped in two nearby. Actually when I say nearby I mean on the campus ! But anyways, I dunno whether that's good or bad. I think a day's getting taken off of Spring Break or something.

Thank god my house is still intact. Well... except for that leaky roof.
