Okay, this is serious. Since I don't have all that much money, I can't donate directly to the Save Dave fund (Dave of Jack [link] fame), I've decided to follow in

's footsteps and do commissions. The way it works is, you donate to Save Dave (Please give me some kinda proof that you did - No freebies! ò_ó A man's wellbeing is at stake here, dammit) and I draw something for you.
I have yet to work out a rigid pricing structure (I've never really done commissions before), but I figure it'll be something along the lines of, donate $5 for a simple pencil bust, $10 for a bust mit charcoal (IE: [link] this kinda thing), $15 for a general full-body sketch and $25 for a full-body pic with colour. I'm not offering inked pictures because I haven't touched a micron in a while so my inking's gone all shitty on me.
Please note I'm trying not to price-gouge. You'd be donating to a worthy cause, and they need moooooooney. Give it some thought.

Okay, SO. I figure I might as well use my journal to say SOMETHING, it's fallen into rather nasty disrepair as of late.

So I'm tryin' to work on some art stuffs. I ran into a nasty, spiky little block there for a while, and the immense backlog of owed art kinda had me a little daunted for a while. Fortunately, I'm getting back in the swing of things and actually getting some art done (it seems mostly reliant on where I'm sitting, apparently - Big poofy chairs that make absolutely no effort to correct your spine seem to work the best for me), which should be up in a while, including, GASP, art that I've owed for, what, a year ( Sorry Gnomey o_o;;; )? I might even making this whole... "Colouring" business a regular deal, as I don't seem to suck as badly at it than I previously thought.

In addition to that (and finding a job), I'm gonna be registering for some art courses at the Ottawa School of Art... I told my dad I was torn between life drawing and comic book art, and he told me (effectively) "Fuck it, take 'em both." SO. Following Akon (Yes, I'm definitely going, after a few budget SNAFUs...) chances are I'll have a day job somewhere, mostly in security guard work, followed by art school at night.

SO long story short. If I owe you something, I'm gonna get it done - and, possibly, get it done better than originally intended. Just be patient with me if I take a little longer polishing it up, or try some new styling on it.

These are the 6 weird things about me..

1.) Like

, I have a wierd number thing, but generally I group things more into multiples of four. Maybe it's the symmetry of the number, but I generally visualize math in terms of fours.

2.) One of my favourite hobbies which I haven't had the chance to work on in a while is model rocketry. I've got no building supplies or anywhere to launch anything, but I still have enough propellant and launch equipent in my room for a launch a day for about three months.

3.) I'm more sensitive to sleep deprivation than most people - I generally start hallucinating really early, in terms of being awake. But that's kind of wierd, considering how little I actually sleep <_<;

4.) I'm bisexual, but while that's not wierd in itself, apparently I'm the first member of our family (that anyone is aware of) who's been anything but strictly heterosexual. I just kinda find that wierd. <_<;

5.) I have... mailed my PANTS to someone on the internet. Just cuz. And her mum didn't flip. lol

6.) Even though I've had more potentially life-threatening incidents than I could count (IE: Falling headfirst off a cliff, getting severely burnt repeatedly) I have never had a lasting injury of any kind, or a single broken bone. This is because, like Puck or Wolverine, my mutant powers render me effectively invincible.

You know those copper wire sculptures I make? Well, more and more people are telling me (to my shock) that I should sell them; Frankly, though, I've no idea how to go about doing that, so at the moment my best option appears to be DeviantArt (maybe if I'm feeling excessively egotistical I'll promote it elsewhere).

So, I make the pitch to all of you; I am willing to create new pieces of wirework for sale. At the moment I don't have much in the way of tangible things-for-sale, but I can create new ones in my offtime. I'd either be willing to sell anything I just randomly do, or more specific requests (within reason... I ain't exactly Michelangelo here). I'd also have to seriously negotiate price with any potential buyers out there; I really don't want to overcharge. I realize that what I do isn't really the best, and the materials aren't exactly the best quality, but nonetheless:
A.) They take quite a while to make. I can spend hours just making a simple ring setup.
B.) The materials I need, since I have nowhere to buy the wire in bulk, is either available in really small quantities for too much money, or plain just hard to get - at the moment, I get my fine-bore wire by stripping it out of DC motors from trash VCRs.
C.) Handling fine wire for extended periods of time ruins the shit out of my hands. I don't know if any of you have ever gotten a five-bore wire cut, but they make papercuts feel like a gentle prod with a sponge.
All these elements; How long it would take, the size of the piece, and the difficulty of the weave would affect the price.

I'm also willing to try pretty much anything in terms of innovation for the piece; I can do a standard flat ring setup, a more 3D approach (Things like this: [link] . Still isn't nearly finished, though), or even items of personal jewelry (Like these: [link] . These two, however, are already going to be sent to someone).

Inquire if you want; I'm not really desperate for money at this point, and the speed'd be kinda capped on how fast I could deliver, at least until the summer.

Well, it's official D: My scanner has officially been declared deceased. Actually, I'm kind of surprised it lasted so long as it did, it was a 1999 flatbed from one of the first Scanjet series HP released. The thing still works, yes, but only somewhat; The colour pickup's been slowly washing out, and the image quality in general's been degrading for a while now.

FORTUNATELY this has been a record week for hardware acquisitions, with all my stuff now backed up on a brand spankin' new external HD; Aaaand, I also picked up a new scanner. Nothing exceptional, but considering what I've been working with for the past year or so, it's ULTIMATE3.

[link] <--- That's the specific model there. I marvel at Future Shop's pricing capacity. There were flatbeds there that scanned at 1/3 less of the resolution for $40-$50 more. <_<;;;

Which is all to say that, slowly, I'll be going through my entire archive, rescanning, and re-uploading everything. Don't get too excited, this won't be all entirely immediate, but I'll do it little by little, so check my gallery every once and a while for greatly enhanced lineartage.

They're a couple of videos I took (I'm the loudest voice, followed by Sieg, and Orospakr... once) of when Orospakr, who has a modded XBox, tooled around with a sandboxing program for Halo 2. We made the plasma pistol fire warthogs. Which also fly like banshees. We had originally tried making the battle rifle fire them, but rapid-fire generation makes the warthog models intersect each other and plain crash the game (which makes it useful if you really suck - you can just bone everyone over by pulling the trigger only once). Charge the pistols up and they fire scorpions, which you can't drive since they only have a mass of five pounds, and just kind of hover a couple of inches over the landscape. Alas, those aren't included in these; Neither are the legendary skull-guns, or the swordshot. We did, however, give Covenant elites superjump.

Thanks to a lot of witnesses at the scene, two of the four men (One gunman and one noncombatant) have already been arrested, and the car used in the murder was found shortly after in Laval, about an hour away. Police are still looking for the other two, but they already have some good leads from the witnesses.

I don't really need support at the moment, I've gotten loads of support already from some wonderful people, and everyone's sort of started to come to terms with it, but I had to post it because it's important. I needed to. The truth is I'm more shaken up and angry than sad. You always read about people getting killed, but it doesn't really sink in until it happens to someone you know.

I'm doing alright now, though, so... yeah.

A.) Didn't realize for a while my clock was set back three hours. It's highly disorienting having the sky be pitch black at quarter to six. My first immediate thought was "Daylight saving time." ... Yeah. Duh.

B.) Tried to phone my dad for a good half-hour, maybe 35 minutes. Realized after dialing the last time that he lives in a completely different area code... there aren't even any numbers with our numerical prefix here.

C.) While talking to him, consulted the Greyhound schedule online. From Peterborough to Ottawa, a four-hour trip at most, it listed the duration as 1 day, 18 hours. I wondered half-heartedly if there was a new route with service to Kingston or something, realized that even a full circuit of Ottawa to Niagara and back wouldn't take 42 hours. I then noticed I had the destination listing set to Ottawa, Kansas.

... So, yeah. WARNING: THIS STORY IS VERY LONG-WINDED.

First, I had to mail something internationally, and just as I was leaving, wondering if I had my postage money, my dad reimbursed me for the construction work I did in the attic (Not gonna start talking about that. That was three days of my life I'd rather not remember. *shudder*), so I had plenty of money for the package. Okay, that was cool.

This next incident, after I'd hit the post office, is kinda confusing to me. King Edward is a six-lane street that pretty much serves as the primary traffic artery connecting Ottawa with most of Gatineau, and is usually just a solid wall of car. Never seen it really let up.

I was crossing King Edward, and my foot slipped off the pedal of my bike, and I skidded about halfway into the road before falling over and fucking my elbow up. I stood up fast, -positive- I was going to get hit by something... And there wasn't anything there. For the first time (and, I suspect, only time) in my life, I witnessed not a single car turning onto King Edward. I was alone in the middle of what is usually the busiest road in Ottawa.

The instant I was out of the road, traffic started packing back onto K.E. Go figure. Any other circumstances, and I should have been a messy streak on the pavement.

I patch myself up in a Tim Hortons bathroom, and bike around the corner, and who should I run into but Griselda, my childhood nanny, who I hadn't seen in almost a decade. We chatted, and well, the rest of the story is benign and boring.

...not like the rest of it wasn't... <.<

ANYWAY.

On a completely different note, it's confirmed. I'll be out of internets from the 28th - this coming Thursday, and coming back the evening of the 13th of august, which I believe is... one of the seven days of the week.

Gonna miss you guys. *group hug* ^^

Huh. Well, this is interesting, DevArt has seen fit to give me one of those week-long trial periods. Fancy. Useless, but fancy. I can see how someone could get addicted to all the options, and I'll miss 'em, but it's not exactly something I'd spend my hard-embezzled money on.

Oh! For the record, Fantastic Four was pretty decent! The dialogue was a little awkward in places, and it could have been done a lot better, but hell, it's worth it just to see Dr. Doom.

Yeah, yeah, kiriban and more MGS pics are coming. I don't know why, but I've hit a bit of an art slump in the past week or so. Odd.

Also, later on in the summer... Late july/early august? I don't know, my parents never tell me these things - I'll be heading off to Cape Cod for two weeks and won't have internet access.

Two weeks with my family, not enough privacy to draw, and no way to contact you guys. Booooooy, will -THAT- be fun. :/
