Today, I am getting married.

Thats such a simple sentence, yet its such a monumental change for me.. its amazing.

I never was one to think that marriage was part of my life goals. I didnt see most work, I dont think its really in line with fundamental human nature, etc. Still, here I am, sitting at my favorite coffee house, sweating bullets in happy anticipation of the event at hand.

I am so unbelievably lucky, that I honestly believe it was planned. The wonderful woman I am to wed today is amazing, beautiful, intelligent, and totally brilliant in so many ways. Still, we faced so many challenges, with 5000 miles separating us for over a year. Now, however, it just seems like a shadowy memory of a past trial.

Its hard to really make it clear, when I discuss her and what we are doing. Many people ask 'why'. I suppose its best to say, that I have been haunted by this love, long before I had ever met her. Even longer than perhaps she has been here on this earth to tell the truth. How else to put it? That I knew her face, her mannerisms before we met.. that my heart ached for her presence before I could ever put a name to her?

Yet, here is it, we found eachother and made it work. We are together and I cannot ever imagine ever being apart. I am so very very lucky.. I have been given a chance at the type of love that people write about in books and fairy tales. Its amazing.

I am very thankful to have her in my life and so look forward to the times ahead.

I love you, Hattie.

Wow. We are doing something informal, small, easy.. but even that.. so many details. Not a good situation for procrastinators. She is very busy with shooting and I am building up steam with a few planned shoots myself. In addition to my son being here, we felt that having just one attention deficit hyper active male in the home (not including myself) wasn't enough and adopted a kitty which Miss Pixie brought to our attention...

Now mind you, being asthmatic I never wanted to have a cat.. but I was convinced and now we have a beautiful grey 2 year old by the name of Mr. Stripes. He is certainly a interesting breed, with just a light tinge of pink to him, his eyes glow orange nearly constantly, which may indicate some sort of demonic possession, which through careful observation could be a possible explanation to his actions: Sprinting across the hard wood living room, careening into walls due to said hard wood, affectionately sinking his teeth into the ankles of my son and Siam to get them to ' play ' (Sado-cat!) etc. Hes actually quite fun to have around outside of being a VERY vocal cat.

But.. the best came today.. I was treating myself to a tasty garlic infused olive and Mr. Stripes became quite interested. As I ate, his vocals became more urgent, insistent if you will. "What cat would possible want a olive?' I thought to myself. It certainly didn't fall into the range of cat like behavior I, in my limited experience with felines, would come to expect. Still, on a whim, I sliced up half of a queen sized, garlic and all, into thin little slices.

The change... was immediate. He took to his bowl with a ferocity and concentration I had not ever witnessed in our feline friend, or any other. He was beyond fascinated, he was attending these delectable morsels with a almost religious fervor. Still, I could tell something unusual was at hand. It could be his tossing the slices into the air, or his attempting to force his entire body into his little cat bowl at once. Once the slices were consumed, he proceeded to alternate between jumping in place, rolling on the ground and occasionally chasing his tail.

After some internet research, it seems that olives have in their oil a similar phermonic compound to catnip which stimulates a part of the brain we evolved specimens have outgrown. Its rare that a cat responds to it at all but it isn't entirely unheard of and can generate a more intense response than simple catnip. Olives don't have anything a cat needs, but they are not harmful according to my research (and yes, these were organically grown and preserved).

Journal Skin by =Thewinator
Shell stocks by ~huomennastock, =chop-stock and ~hatestock

A lot of life changes are on the horizon.

Ive been watching some friends drift away, others simply have shown that the value of trust and friendship isnt reciprocated. I suppose these things happen, espicially in the competitive world of LA. Everyone is trying to get ahead, make a buck.

Still, its hard, to see people I care about fade away. Ive never been outwardly sentimental. I dont remember the days I should, I dont give enough gifts or the right kind. I dont do the little things to let people know I care I guess. When I bother to let someone in though, its significant to me. It sucks when that goes away.

But, I have Siam here for 6 months at least starting in 2 weeks. What an amazing adventure that is going to be! Im excited on so many levels. A real beginning in the works there. All I can say is that it is flat out amazing to feel like this. Maybe I will think of a way to convince her to stay.

Im traveling to Montanna for the weekend to see my family, right after a quick cameo at an LA event.

Back home and several shoots planned, and some bigger events in the works. Very exciting, yet intimidating.

Fireworks in the Fog... the Holiday Aftermath

Picking up from the last blog I wrote here involved a lot more fun with and company. The next day Hattie and I took Ryu to Knotts Berryfarm to ride the coasters (they are both nuts for them) and the following to a Hockey game.

Finally it was time for Ryu to head back home to his mother. A bit sad considering how well Hattie and he got along, but it was nice to have some one on one with Hattie again as well.

It strikes me as surreal, to acknowledge I have been seeing for over a year now. Its both been the most challenging one and the most rewarding. There are so many reasons this shouldn't work, so many preconceptions I have had to completely redo with regards to age, distance and on line romances. Yet, in a way that cant ever be proven, I dont see someone I have met a few hundred days ago in her, but a companion, a familiar presence that has been with me all along.

So, on New Years eve, I made it a special day at Disneyland for the two of us, starting corresponding with Disneyland staff months in advance for dinner reservations ect. It was a great night, ghostly mysterious with the heavy fog, people moving in and out like specters. It was perfect for us. The night culminated with a reserved ride on the storybook just before midnight. As we passed through the cave of wonders, Hattie made her wish, which came true as she opened her eyes to her engagement ring.

Yup, you read it right. Im engaged.

She slipped on the ring just as the fireworks started up, lighting up the entire sky with muted colors embedded deep in the fog. What a great way to bring in the new year... and a interesting parrallel, brilliant beauty in the unseen path ahead.

The next day, she was heading back to England, with a promise on her hand. Our hearts heavy, but looking ahead to the future.

Christmas Time

To say this has been a relaxing holiday would be a gross misnomer but still, I have been very pleased so far.

Hattie flew out to visit me, only to be stranded in Paris for a day. She made it out, the next day to hit the ground running, with a quick stop to the salon, then to a work party for me where she made a great showing, of course. (I dont know how the girl deals with the jet lag).

Then Bondage Ball approaches, but not before Battledress comes out to do some heavy makeup and body painting for a photoshoot for a product shot. Neither put out anything less than sellar efforts and we get some great shots and make a nice visual splash at the event.

Next day, off we go to meet up with Micheal and Perry for another shoot for Hattie. Micheal couldnt make the shot due to Shy having a bout with allergies but Perry stepped up, had us come to his place and went to work while I got to be a fly on the wall. What a treat! Ive gotten some AMAZING shots form 'The March Hare', but I was eager to see what the masters would do and boy was I not dissapointed. Jaw Dropping! I consider myself so very lucky to have such a great circle of friends, not to mention a wonderful girl who I am lucky enough to have found at the beginning of what I hope to be a wonderful journey.

Sunday, we pick up Ryu from the airport, who is delayed several hours. He made it eventually with flying colors, being his first time needing to catch a connection. The little man is growing up and is no longer needing to be on direct flights. Little is hardly the word anymore.. he is my height now.. 5'4" at 12. heh!

Next day, back off to Battle dress where we manage to get 3 great sets in.

Finally, Christmas.. which is probably the best day of all, to be spending it with the people I love. I have a few friends over for a nice dinner that evening, including , and colleen. I am thinking, how amazing, to have the life I have, the friends I have. Im a lucky guy.

I look forward to the next few days, hanging out again with Battledress, with friends, perhaps mending some worn bridges even. In all the holiday season, its those that are closes to us which make the days special.

So.. this photography thing.. Ive been having fun with it. So much that I decided to take it up a few notches and decided to invest in some gadgetry:

So... 4 alienbees, stands, remotes, softboxes, and such later.... I have the beginnings of a sorta respectable studio. *grin*

Now.. to convert the living room or the spare bedroom?
