Holy ravioli! I've heard of this particularly frightening brand of Twilight fan, and seen some pretty dumb shenanigans on the internet. I'd usually chuckle and not take it very seriously...

...But I think I'm legitimately scared now. Who knew that young people could be so impressionable and unstable? It's just a book. Edward is NOT coming to whisk them away (especially if he's so creepily obsessed with Bella, and also NOT REAL), and they need to move on with their lives.

*shiver* Honestly, Edward Cullen just reminds me of Stanley from A Streetcar Named Desire. a comparison which... I've actually wanted to draw for a while now. XD maybe if I find the time.

Wintertimes
It sure is cold! Even in Las Vegas, where some people seem to think it's sunny and great all the time because they've never actually been here. But right now, a terrible dry coldness is hovering about, chilling me to my very bones. I've had to wear long socks under my pajama pants and sleep with fifty or so blankets *saaaad*. There's also Christmas, Hanukkah, etc comin' up and I am gonna try to draw gifts! So once the semester ends this week (EEEE), that'll be something to do....

Possible new artplace
I think I'm definitely going to join conceptart.org. I'm not sure how you go about getting an actual gallery there, but I do know it's free to join the forums. It seems like a good place to give and receive intelligent feedback. I just hope I'm at least good enough to not raise too many eyebrows or get booted out or what have you. And of course I'll be staying here too, I just don't feel that DA is enough help in terms of growing artistically and getting exposure.

Which reminds me: I think I might get a second account here. This current one will hold all my fanart and fun stuff, while the new one will be a little more serious business, with my polished original stuff, my actual name in the name field instead of a witty line, and all that sort of thing. Whether or not everything already on this one will stay on this one ... I haven't decided yet.

[link] This girl was the teacher's assistant in my beginning painting class! I've seen her in the studio working on her stuff before, and right now one of the small showrooms at school is displaying some of her paintings. They look really cool in real life... the blues are so vivid, and canvases have a sort of glossy, shimmery finish.

Lance Smith
[link] I only wish I could show you more, but I couldn't find anything (google was almost no help, since there are apparently more artists named Lance Smith). I've known him since senior year of high school and kinda wish we could have hung out more! He's an AMAZING artist. Something about his stuff kinda lights me up inside, and makes me want to keep getting better. It probably helps that he's super sweet as well.

Instead of having a relaxing evening talking to pals on AIM, my external hard drive broke. This drive has most of my ....everything. Sssooo after some troubleshooting, it looks like I have to take it somewhere where it could potentially cost several hundred dollars to recover my data. _{It lights up, but it doesn't make any noise. No computer will recognize that it exists. So yeah.}

I had just started getting into some really juicy photoshop work, too. AND NOW I CAN'T WATCH COWBOY BEBOP. Also, my music was on it.
It's pathetic how much I depend on this stupid crap. I guess I should start getting more used to traditional media again. And maybe reading.

Looks like I have all my stuff back! Allow me to elaborate. ~Matrixx took the enclosure off the external hard drive to try and directly connect the inner drive thing to the inside of his computer (somehow), which worked! So, a few steps later, all my stuff was moved back to my C drive. The next step is to get a reliable backup device and BACK THAT SHIT UP all the time from now on. Keiko Kaibara
Pictures: pending
A Samurai Jack fancharacter, and a muse
Age: Most of her story takes place while she's about 24. However, she has lost track of her own age, and wouldn't be able to tell you this anyway.
Race: Human > Japanese
body type: Sort of lean, rather short, and rather scrawny. Her breasts are nearly nonexistent.
defining characteristics: her upper left cheek is permanently scarred due to a severe burn from her early teenage years.
Acquaintances: Josephine Clench, Remington, Kaori (diseased), Samurai Jack, Da Samurai (much to her dismay), Aku (but everyone knows him...), and is eventually acquainted various with allies of Jack, such as the chinese monks and a few talking dogs
Special skills: Keiko is very "scrappy" in a threatening situation. She is resourceful, and will make do with a makeshift weapon if need be... even if it's her teeth. She is rather quick to learn, as well.
Personality: Keiko is reserved. While she does care greatly for her fellow beings, especially children, this is not immediately evident. Outwardly, Keiko is quiet, distant, and sometimes wistful. Internally, she is willful, spirited, and a bit romantic. She tends to play the tough girl, and usually dislikes it when someone tries to help her, sometimes even snapping at the person.
Weaknesses: Keiko is a pretty small person, and consequently has trouble gaining muscle mass and isn't incredibly strong (though she can become slightly impressive in a pinch). She's not very charismatic and may accidentally say something offensive, even if she means no harm. She is not quick to trust, which can make her seem a bit cold at times. Additionally, her tendency to put on a tough and brave front will sometimes hide the fact that she's injured, or in some other peril, until the situation is nearly beyond rectification.

Age: 16
Body type: Somewhere between average and wimpy/soft in build. Fair complexion
defining characteristics: bright or otherwise head-turning clothing. His neutral expression seems to be set at a slight smile. Hair is usually messy, and will sometimes be streaked with random, non-permanent dyes.
acquaintances: Is Sivvie's big brother. Kaibus will try and make friends with just about everyone. He knows the names of most of the school's faculty, and it's hard for them to forget about him, either.
personality: Indiscriminately friendly. Very naive, and will pretty much socialize with both genders the same way. In other words, for whatever reason he does not tend to treat girls differently from boys. Many actually find this peculiar. It also takes a lot for Kaibus to hold a grudge, as he is pretty forgiving. On the inside, he's somewhat eager for attention and nurture, which translates into his outward sweet and outgoing demeanor. He absolutely loves music, and enjoys dancing to it, much to Sivvie's chagrin.
special skills: Various crafts, often childish ones. A decent singer, though this is one of the few things he has inhibitions about. Possibly due to his high-ish voice.
weaknesses His naivety and his more non-masculine tendencies make him rather vulnerable to bullying and slander, especially in a high school setting. He does NOT like fighting and would rather curl up in a ball than punch someone back. He's not completely beyond talking back when verbally provoked, but this rarely helps him. Kaibus can also be relatively easily bribed with candy.

The Smashing Pumpkins CDs I got (Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) a while back had these mysterious fingerprints on them that broke the last two tracks of each disk. They could not be washed off! Did the guy at the CD factory have ACID on his hands? Or perhaps cement? I thought machines did these tasks. Machines do not leave fingerprints, guys.
Anyone else have weird tales of pre-damaged products that had to reason to even be touched before they were purchased?

I also recently purchased an old-looking Fantasia CD. EPIC. I love how it sounds both old and high-quality at the same time. It gave me a huge wave of nostalgia. The Rite of Spring still scares the shit out of me, deep down. You know, the part that had the dinosaurs? And they killed each other and died in the scorching sun and all that?

Which reminds me of how a lot of things in updated versions of Fantasia were cut (or so I've heard) because they suddenly realized that there were some nipples, and racism that wasn't actually racism.

ONLY. It keeps doing this THING. I'll be drawing, and the cursor will suddenly be somewhere else on the page. It does it once in a while, not like every few seconds, but often enough to be annoying. And I think it might be getting worse.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it normal or something? Easy to fix? I would hate to have to return it, but if it's broken I guess I'll have to. Oh, joy of joys!

I finally get a tablet and it hates me. Go figure.

Quite a while ago, I came up with some characters that were all animal-type-things that all had food names. Sounds a lot like the cartoon Chowder, right?

The thing is, I came up with my thing before I ever heard of Chowder. It was called "Trail Mix" and I thought it was pretty clever. Then when Chowder came out I was like "WHAT."

I know it's probably stupid to dwell on it, but it's rather discouraging when this sort of thing happens.

And don't get me me wrong either, I love Chowder to DEATH, it is such a great little show. Way better than any crap I could have come up with.

This isn't to say I'm going to GIVE UP FOREVER AND LEAVE THE INTARWEBS TO BECOME A LAWYER SCIENTIST MCBORING OFFICEWOMAN, I just kind of wanted to vent about it.

But woah. I forgot how much I like this manga! the first few chapters kind of have cheesy art, but the level of improvement in later chapters is amazing. I love the motion in the action scenes and the crazy monster designs...

Also, Kuwabara is the coolest. DON'T look at me like that, you know he is. Him and Kurama are both rather fun to draw. So, maybe fanart will pop up later.

By the way, I have the most adorable (or just the weirdest) dogs. Lately they've been sleeping together, and one of them will have her front leg draped over the other's middle. D'awwww... they also make some pretty interesting noises when they're play fighting, being boston terriers. Daisy once made this hilarious quacking noise.
I was laughing for about five minutes straight.

Yeah, finished with another semester of college. Which means I've survived a whole year without getting any ulcers or becoming fat! Awesome!

I have quite a few things to stick in my gallery that are the result of Drawing and Design/Color classes, because I liked them. I haven't had much time to put them up lately though, because of... well, school. BUT NOW I'm going to be putting up two a day so I don't explode your inboxes by doing it all at once. Then people get mad and don't even want to look at them anymore >__>

Oh! I am feeling generous! I think I'm going to open a request... thing, since I'm going to be off for several weeks and I don't want to get all lazy and stupid. SO.

Okay, so I saw this show Inside the Actor's studio a few times, and I notice that the host always asks the guest the same ten questions, oftentimes with amusing results (one guest proclaimed his favorite curse word had 7 syllables). I wanted to see what would happen if I asked my friends these same questions.

Yesterday I almost laughed aloud and embarrased myself in class because I suddenly started thinking about how funny the word "squirrel" is.

I agree with ~krysofdeath... sexual slang is UGLY. "cunt" is one of the worst. Robin Williams hates it too.

Creatively speaking, I admit I have a thing for angst or romance (the broader definition of romance, anyway). Also strange humor. Throw in an animal and Im set.

So around six something this morning, my mom came in and obnoxiously woke me up. I felt a little better about it when she finally got to the point: snow.
Those of you in colder areas probably find this quite stupid. But if you live in Desert Valley Dust Funtime Land (aka Las Vegas/Henderson, Nevada) this is quite a deal. My backyard must have contained an impressive two handfuls of snow.
The news was kinda funny. They zoomed in on this tiny, tiny snowman someone had managed to construct outside. It was an adorable *cough* I mean, unprecidented 1 foot tall.!
lady: It looks like someone was even able to build a snowman-
guy: Actually... its more like a snowkid... well, its a snow..thing..anyway..

And then I stole some coffee while it was still hot. And my stomach was all:
"Emily, you idiot! You know what this crap does to me!"
OOPS. I was going to go back to sleep. No such luck with coffee ruining my metabolic system. So here I am! arent we glad.

~krysofdeath, Tim/~Matrixx, and I went trick or treating as the mob/gangsters. Well, actually, I was the most like a gangster, Tim looked more Lackadaisy Cats gentleman, and krys was The Don (big poofy coat, hat, cigar. So we were like her flunkies/hitmen or something.
The best part was that we collected our candy in a briefcase, talking with an accent saying things like "we're here to collect" and "ya didnt pay your protection candy last month, this time its double." and then there was this one part....

A decent amount of stares, due to some scarring and noticeably long hair (even when it’s up). However, she’s also short, so not too many.

2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world?
In the past, mostly normal. In the Future, no. Regular humans seem few and far between in the SJ universe.

3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)?
Burn scar, left cheek, approx. 1 inch across. Also, she’s scrawny.

4) Would you consider your OC as attractive?
Personally, I think she’s alright, because I don’t care much about a lady’s cleavage, plus I have strange tastes, etc... She’s supposed to be pretty average in terms of looks.. I dunno ._.

Only upon seeing loved ones wronged, as well as animals/children abused.

Sometimes. But, being rather neutral, her mood doesn’t change dramatically very frequently.

Im gonna have to go with follower, though she has what can be considered independent tendencies. She has trouble taking initiative, and will tend to crawl under the wing of someone else, if she ends up trusting that person enough… which actually isn’t often.

4) What is the main aspect of his/her personality?

I guess she’s determined, romantic ( [link] see definitions 3,6, and 7) and purpose-wanting, if that counts

Most humans do. An average and possibly pregnant mother, and a father who wasn’t home very often.

A lot of the time. She wanders around in a time she doesn’t belong in, unless she’s being helped by someone, which actually makes her kind of uncomfortable.

So today, for the first time ever (shame on me), I saw the movie Breakfast Club. Truthfully I enjoyed it a lot more than I anticipated. The only complaint I have is that there was random romance shoved into the ending, which a lot of movies have and DONT NEED. It's Fugly. But yes! I thought Bender was a great character, he was a witty jerk with a developed background, which are always interesting... and the gothish girl, I forget her name.

Next topic regarding my deviations lately =0 ! I've found that I really enjoy putting song lyrics with my pictures, and it's not always for the same reason. Either Ill draw a picture because of a song, or I'll think of a song that goes with the picture I already drew. I really enjoy doing it, so I just want to apologize if its annoying to anyone. I figure some people might think it's unfair of me to use someone else's words.. I do cite where the song comes from, though..

Answer: Keiko (amazing how she's never had a last name. Ok, well... her last name in the Sims was Hikarikai, but thats dumb and not even a name.)

2. What kind of character is it? (furry, anime, etc) and any particular race?

Answer: Mostly a Samurai Jack fancharacter, but lately becoming more of a muse. She's Japanese, and a human.

3. What is the first thing your character would think of when he/she first wakes up?

Answer: She would probably first notice that she was alive, and then revel in this fact for a few minutes. "where did I fall asleep this time?" and then "I woke up and I had this hat on." (inside joke... not entirely serious XD)

4. Your character's favorite outfit would be?

Answer: If she had more materialism in her personality she would probably enjoy comfortable, concealing clothes. for some reason I can see her wearing semi Native-American looking stuff like mocassins and fringed skirts in earthtone colors.

5. When your character looks into a mirror, what's the first thing they would notice?

Answer: The burn scar on her left cheek, anything behind her

Answer: relatively... but she'd probably eat anything as long as it was food.

Answer: being reserved, except hers is much more often. She respects every living thing. We both also have wierd undefined emotions.

Answer: Her undefined emotions are wierder and more undefined than mine. She looks absolutely nothing like me. She dislikes being touched a lot more than I do. She also is prone to random bouts of pseudo-insanity and/or complete withdrawal from her surroundings. Kind of like... advanced zoning out or something.

9. If your character could speak, would they have the same voice as you?

Answer: No, not at all. She's a much better singer than I am. Don't tell her I said that. Not to mention she's older, and... ok, im not going to strain myself. It's stupid to try to explain someone's voice >__>

10. If you were to suddenly become your character, what do you think would be the first thing you would do as them?

Answer: marvel at how long my hair was, I guess. It depends, really. If I was still in the SJ universe I'd go visit all the awesome characters XD;; then I'd freak out, because all her burdens would suddenly become mine >__> not that I'm bragging that she has a million problems like most mary sues seem to have she doesnt necessarily have a dark past or whatever, she just had very unfortunate turns of events, which are events which actually happen in the show, so .. yeah.. they had to happen o__0;;

11. Is there something about your character that you don't like how others think of them?

Answer: I think some people might see her as the usual cutesy, helpless, pretty girl that fangirls make up on a whim. All of that is something she definitely isn't. She's much deeper than that, and I have more planned for her than making out with [insert male character] and proceeding to have his 10 children over the course of two years while still keeping her figure. which she doesnt have much of in the first place.

12. What advantages does your character have over you?

Answer: I actually like to think I'm a little better off than she is . I guess she could beat me at kareoke and .. the weighing less game. and the being short game. Oh, she doesnt dislike people in general like I do... she's very empathatic. I suppose I could say im more *ahem* "endowed", but whether or not that's an advantage varies depending on who you are ._.

Answer: I have a home Plus, talking to her would give rise to a hell of a lot of awkward silences.

14. Do you have any secrets relating to your character that only you know?

Answer: A bunch, probably. I'm not telling them to you .__. just that she has secrets concerning her personality and perhaps her hidden singing talent. It has something of an explanation, believe it or not.

since the end of November, I've been pining over a great loss. I've dealt with it since then, tormented by strange dreams and loneliness.

The family member who I least expected to care suddenly gained a heart over the past few months. And today I am bewildered. I have been given a second hope and a new love. And her name is Daisy.

Yep, I got me a puppy. She's a black and white boston terrier, which I used to ... not like. But it was love at first site on both ends of this relationship. I used to think I would never have a dog again, but here's Daisy, warm and sleeping on my lap. I dont care how many accidents she has, I'll probably still love her.
