I am now reading things on my comp and typing this with NO GLASSES! Wootness extreme!

The surgery itself was very quick, just the waiting was making me nervous. The first part was the worst, where I paniced in the room as my vision went totaly blank for a moment while the doctor held my eyeball in one spot. I learned that when your eye is completely 100% still, you cannot see a thing. I also learned that I hate speculums. (That metal thing that holds your eye apart so you can't blink.) The etching of the corneal flap itself was quick, but they had to readjust my eye once for each eye. Yay for panic attacks and hyperventilation.

After that though, the actual laser surgery part was easy. I was still pretty freaked out (I just get that way with any surgery thingies) but it wasn't as bad as the first room. Even the smell of burning as the laser went over my eyeball didn't bother me. It was super quick too, and I could already see ten times better as soon as it was done!

The doctor said I was perfectly co-operative and my surgery went perfect, even though I was scared at the time. My corneal flaps healed over perfectly smooth too, I found out this morning when my protective contact lense was taken off and they examined my vision. I can now see 20/20 and 20/15 already, and my vision is only going to improve over the following weeks/months, while the nerves around my tear ducts heal and my eyes recover fully.

I also got some brand new polarised sunglasses from the place and they are the awsome. It's been SO long since I got to wear real sunglasses!

The only 'hassel' if you can call it that, is the eye drops I need to take, but that's no big deal and I feel soooo much better about myself. I did it all by myself, made the appointment made the decisions and I'm paying for it with my own earned money.

I did it for myself, by myself and I feel GREAT. My wonderful man of awsome was by my side the whole time too and took precious time out of his sleep schedual to take me to and from the center. *squee and love*

He is proud of me.

So yesh, I definitely recommend this place to anyone who's considering Lasik. It's the number one place to go with the number one surgeon. Apparently people come literally from all over the world to go here and see Dr Menger. Schedual you're free lasik eye exame and you'll find out just how awsome this place is and how much of a fantastic decision you'd make by going there.

lol I sound like the commercial. But I'm so serious, this place lives up to its standards of being number one with the best surgeon and the best equipment, and the best staff. They were so kind and patient with me and I was never left alone to worry about anything. I can hardly believe I am seeing the world without glasses. I'm just not going to get over how good this makes me feel.

Biopsy came back negative for any cancerous tissue. He's not out of the woods yet, as the fatty liver is still a very serious condition, but he's now treatable, instead of looming doom. So I am VERY happy with this, and taking good care of my baby at home now. Making sure his high calorie diet takes and that he gets all his antibiotics.

But, today had somewhat better news. He got his ultrasound and though it showed he has a fatty liver and that his intestines look pretty bad, the doc did not say for sure wether he had cancer just by looking at the US. So it's encouraging that perhaps the liver disease is just a symptom of another condition that can be easilly treated and managed, such as irritable bowel. Or, just a result of him going off his food for as long as he has.


So we are all hopeing for the best and trying to prepare for any otehr news. He got his liver biopsy sent in today as well, so we're waiting to hear from that. He's on antibiotics and being hydrated over the last two days on IV fluids. That has seemed to perk him up, and he IS eating so that's a great sign.


So ya, I've been distracted with this, and the fact that the 3rd is coming up and my therapy is getting very difficult to handle the last few sessions.


My life is a fucking trainwreak. but I'm dealing pretty well I think. Just worried about my baby cat now. Please keep him in your thoughts for a speedy recovery.

We're off to celebrate my Aunty's wedding, and visit Dracula's Restaurant. I've always wanted to go there since I was little and first saw it on our way to the Gold Coast. It's 18+ only though, so I never got the chance to go until now.

I'm not looking forward to the long-ass flight tomorrow, but it will be nice to get back to Aussie land for something other than a funeral. This is the second time I will be visiting my parents since I first moved to America, and I'm glad that this time it will be a happy return!

I will get plenty of photos, and might post a few here if they're 'artsy' enough or something. otherwise they'll be up on my facebook acount for anyone who knows me on there.

I got a nice haul of stuffs from the familly and the roomies.

Yesterday was the first anniversary of my brother's death, so I'm still on my 4 day long drinking bend.

I got an awsome new laptop that has a tablet built in, so I'm experimenting with 'the waccom way'. I've found it is much harder than drawing with pencils on paper.

I'm hoping to get my ass in gear to finnish some things and set others in progress at the least.

Anyways. Just a note that I'm still alive and watching and all that junk.

But, that's not the cause for the update. yes yes much happier newsies.

I have an art trade! yay. First in a verreh long time.

And with a very awsome artist to boot.

I am hopeing my half will be good enough to compare. She says it will be of course, 'cause she's just that nice. But I'm always my worst critic.

So I've begun sketching again, and with the motivation and a set subject in mind it's actualy working out. Somewhat.

Because I suck at colouring, I'm going to submit it in three parts - completed sketch, completed lineart, and coloured version. That way nothing will be lost to my horrible art skills along the way.

So on the note of feeling better about drawing again, once I finnish this trade I'll definitely be open for more. If anyone is interested of course.

As I said to , I tried my best to plug the exchange both times I participated, in an effort to get more people to join in. Because I know most of you are very talented people, and I know that the extra effort people put in during these things makes ANY quality picture just that - quality. The more people in an exchange like this, the better it turns out for everyone.

Some people may not be on the 'lvl' of artistry that others are, but the vast diversity makes everyone special, no matter what their current talent level.

I personaly find joy in recieving a work of art from someone who put their heart into it, no matter what it looks like in the end. Because I know that it was done specialy for me, and that my person cared about what they drew. Just as I care about every image I create. I love to see the smiles when I submit my piece. I love the happy surprise. And though I am assured most of the time in getting one in return, that never enters my mind when I draw my own contribution.
My only thoughts are to do the best I can for the person I was given to draw for, to make it special and different. And the surprise of recieving my own piece by the person who was given me to draw for, really makes the event special for me.

I thought for sure that I could get my friends to join in, when the first exchange (Valentine's Day) was started. I had smiles and bounciness and I foolishly told everyone 'sure I can prob get 4 people at least to join! it'll be so much fun.' It didn't happen. So I tried again this time. It didn't happen.

I've wondered why. Is it that people think they're too good for the participants who may not be able to make a michelangelo quality picture? Is it because they just don't give a shit? Is it because they're oh so busy they couldn't even find time to submit a sketch (partial or complete, it didn't matter) to finnish at a later date when they weren't so busy? A combination of those 3?

Just this morning it dawned on me that perhaps they wouldn't have found it as special and rewarding as I did. Why? Because these people don't find 'gifts' a surprise anymore. They have reached the 'status' where 'ordinary' people fall over themselves to give gifts and artwork character pictures out of the blue, in the feeble hopes to be recognised by art 'gods'. So to speak. Perhaps you find this an unfair thought. Is it?

Perhaps I'm over thinking it, or placing my foot squarly in my mouth here. But, when there isn't even a simple comment like "Oh, I'd love to join but I have to work til 4am and haven't got time to draw pictures for even myself, let alone other people." I have to truly wonder.

I'm not saying people have to join or die. Of course it isn't a forced issue here. I'm just voicing the things that roll through my mind at this time. Maybe you just don't like doing exchanges for whatever reason. Maybe you don't like drawing for strangers, even for a special holiday time or somesuch. Perhaps you don't find the challenge fun, nor the happy smiles rewarding enough. That's fine, of course. But no less dissapointing in my eyes.

I personally found this challenge difficult, as I had a terrible art block up until the last 3 days of the deadline. But I did it, and I enjoyed it.

Yea I know, go me or something.

I won't stop tossing the plugs out there for the future exchanges, but I will stop expecting or even hopeing any of you who watch this ever decide to participate or even acknowledge it's exisitance.

Art is not a business. It never should be. Once you fall into that slimey cess pool trap, you can never claw your way back up again. That's a fact.

We draw because we want to. End of story. Once you start down the road of drawing because you HAVE to, it slowly drains the life out of every image until all that's left is a hollow dollar sign. I've watched it happen, and if I ever get to the point my art (or my writing) is lusted after, I will not let that happen to me. I love what I do, whatever I do. Nothing's going to change that.

That said, perhaps it's why no one wants to commit to an exchange. Because there's a deadline attached and all.
But there's a deadline attached to a birthday gift. Or a christmas present. Does that make those work too? It's in the perspective I guess.

If you have not seen it yet, GO NOW! Sell your soul for tickets because it is the win. Pan himself is just the purrrrr, but it's the boogeyman (or equivilant thereof) that is just the sex. There has not been thus far a sexier, more monsterous being I've found in movies yet. Plus he eats the childers, *grin* can't get any better than seeing bad spawnlings getting torn into bloody chunks and devoured by eyeless, very silent hill-ish purrybeing of blood-stained, pointy fangged MURR.

Ahem, as for the rest of the film, it was the most beautiful movie I have seen so far. Just... pure beauty. You'll understand when you see, I'm sure.

It is in Spanish though, so if foreign films are not your forte, beware. I myself was a tad aprehensive when I first heard the spanish and saw the subtitles, (given that all the spanish I hear on a daily basis is that spoken by brianless morontards, ie most of the mexican population here in SC) but it works for this film perfectly since it's set in Spain and all. Fancy that, a film set in a country that actualy uses that country's language! *gasp and shock*

The story is wonderfuly dark and twisted, yet at the same time magical with its fairy tales and mythologies. Some people might have problems that there is not overly much of the actual 'fairy world' in the film, but you need to understand that this a story about (without spoilers) the human life of the fairy princess, and her trials therein. Not about the fairy world itself.

There are some absolutely marvelous scenes, and plenty of darkness, villains, and blood for people like me to smoosh over.

Once I get happy with the sketch enough, there will OH SO be fanart of the sexy mrr-beast.

Decided now that Omnishift.net (my personal artistic site) is fully up and running and populated nicely with my scratchings and scrawlings, that it would be good to catch up with some of the peoples here that I lost touch with when I left DA. That, and watching the many fabulous talented artists I lost track of at the same time.

So, hopefully I will catch up with y'all along the way, if you haven't forgotten me.

Thanks to Omnishift, I now have somewhere to house my full collection of stuff, so I needn't worry about things that may be denied posting here, or the possable downtimes of the site and whatnot. (Since Omnishift NEVER has a downtime, knock on wood!)

I will slowly put some things up here pretty soon.
