I assume that you guys are familiar with the monthly art exchanges over at livejournal. If you're not, it's basically where you sign up to get a picture of one of your characters and in return you draw someone else's character. You have a month to complete the artwork so it won't become a trade that sits on your to-do list forever.

Well, I'm currently running an exchange myself but it needs more members. Our livejournal account is here: fantasy_xchange (also known as FAX). We accept all original fantasy creatures be they mythological, sci-fi, or even a species of your own creation.

If you're not sure what I'm talking about, it's basically where you draw something fantasy-related for another artist and they draw you something in return. You only have one month to complete the artwork so you don't have to worry about trades that go on forever or having something that just floats there on your to-do list mocking you.

The best part is that I'm the moderator. Okay, it might not be the best part .... but at least you know OF me, right? Right? 0.o

Now, you DO have to have a livejournal account to join, but it really isn't hard. It's not like a basic account costs anything, and I don't care if you use the account only for this exchange. I guess you could consider it the continuation of the exchange that I used to hold over at ~Anthro-Fantasy-club but it's A LOT easier for me to maintain. At least LJ has club accounts. XD

Fortunately, I just cleared out a lot of my watch list. That means I'll be able to comment more on my friends' work and not be so overloaded with messages all the time. It's rather strange how I always seem to keep adding people who are A) so popular that my comments are always lost or B) people who rarely log onto DA and only log on to advertise commissions/they'll be at this con/to post a piece of artwork for sale/ etc.
That's not to say I don't like people trying to make a living off of their artwork on here, it just gets annoying when everything they do is for money. Maybe it's just me, but I like to see personal artwork and "art made for fun" once in a while. Heck, even gifts and trades are a good break-up between 20-something commission piece.


But, yeah. I haven't done much of anything with artwork lately and I'm sorry. I can't promise anything soon either.

From the 30 participants, someone is chosen to draw the character whose information you've provided above. In return, you must draw a picture for someone else that has entered into the exchange. It's kinda like a trade, except that you don't know who you're drawing for or who's drawing for you. There's the surprise. :D

As for rules (yes, there are rules) they go as such:
:bulletred: You must get your artwork in by the 1st of March. If you don't, you will be blacklisted.
:bulletred: Nothing against deviantART's rules. That means no stolen artwork, no sex, etc.
:bulletred: No old or already made artwork.
:bulletred: You cannot go past the maturity rating that has been requested. That means if your chosen one wants a G-rated picture, you can't have any nudity, gore, etc. in the piece.
:bulletred: Don't contact your chosen one directly. If you have a question, ask me and I'll send it to them. We don't want to ruin the surprise, do we? ;)
:bulletred: Try your hardest on the piece. If there is a great difference between the quality of the piece and the quality of the rest of your gallery, it will not be counted for the exchange. (for example, if your gallery consists of full-color, full-background pieces and you enter with a 10 minute, no background doodle, it will not be counted)
:bulletred:Any type of character is accepted. Just keep in mind that certain types of characters may limit who will draw for you (an example are human characters). Fantasy animals and anthros are the most common characters in this exchange.

Being blacklisted means the following: you will not be able to enter into future exchanges, you will not be able to submit artwork to either ~The-Phoenix-Club or ~Anthro-Fantasy-club, and you will be exempt from any kiriban that I personally hold on my own account.
The only way to get off of the blacklist once you've been put onto it is to complete both the owed artwork and one piece of "volunteer artwork" for the club which will be specified when the owed artwork is done.

I've gotta say, man, I really expected something more from it. It didn't feel like a movie at all, more like a dream actually. You know, you go along with it at the time, but afterwards you don't find it really all -that- interesting and forget mostly all of it.

The movie itself, at least the idea of it, was generic as hell. The whole story about a monster attacking a huge city (in this case, New York) has just been so overdone in Hollywood that I merely consider it an excuse for CGI monster eyecandy. To make matters worse, they decided to make it from the point of view of three people stranded in the middle of the attack recording the event themselves. Sure, the idea that "this was shot by an unprofessional cameraman" calls to the youtube generation but it's extremely annoying to me. Why, the bouncy and improperly exposed camera gave me a horrible headache and made me almost vomit in the middle of the movie. The characters are so generic and annoying that I was giving the movie the thumbsup when one died. :XD:

The final verdict: wait for it to come on TV. If you do decide to go see the movie, try not looking directly at it for long periods of time.

Rating:
Two out of four stars, reduced to one and a half out of four stars due to crappy, eye-hurting camerawork.

I was just wondering if this angered anyone I doubt it. I'd rather not bring back the rest of my gallery for personal reasons, but I would still like to know what you think about that. There have been some artists where I've been pretty pissed off at them for storaging most of their gallery and then others I haven't really cared about. If there's a particular piece that you want brought out of storage, I suppose I could do that.

I need resolutions, arg.

Yeah, most of the beginning and middle was pretty boring, actually. Kind of long, y'know?
I wish I had read the book recently because then I would have something to compare it to. (the last time I read it was in Junior High..... I was forced to read it once in Sixth grade before then, though)

The ending was kinda cool; it was awesome to see the polar bears fighting. Their armor was totally bad-ass. ;D

However, the ACTUAL ending-ending was stupid; they basically cut it off right in the middle so you'd be forced to see the sequel. Weak, man. Weak. :|

!!!WARNING!!! This is a rant journal. !!!WARNING!!!

Y'know, I'm not sure if I should hold a kiriban or not. If you're wondering, I'm thinking of holding a kiriban for my 10,000th pageview. I know it's still a long ways away, but I'd rather think about it now.

I mean, I don't mind doing kiriban artwork if it's for a friend, and/or the person who wins requests a character that is interesting. However, it just seems to me that I keep on getting really bad requests for kiribans. :/
Really, I keep on getting bad requests in general. It just seems that every time I'm not getting something in return for it, it's always a bad request. And, no, I'm not saying that to be self-centered or anything..... I'm saying it because it's the truth. This isn't anything against the orignal creators of the characters or anything, but it just seems that none of the designs have "sparked" my interest, y'know?
I tend to get a lot of anthro characters and creatures/things that I'm not good at drawing when it comes to contest prizes, kiribans, and plain old not-a-trade-or-commission requests.
To tell you the truth, I really don't enjoy drawing anthro at all. Used to like it, but now I don't. I guess it's because I'm not good at human antomy or something.... I dunno.

So, from now on, I probably won't be taking any sort of request of any kind whatsoever unless it's a trade or commission. I'm tired of wasting my time on contest artwork which the person doesn't even remember, making requests for people who don't even care enough to comment on my artwork, and wasting my time in general on uninteresting characters. I've finally gotten my to-do list down to a finishable size, and I would hope to keep it that way.

That being said, I will make giftart IF I feel like it and only if I feel like it.

Making that character journal finally opened my eyes to how little I actually draw my own characters. I piddle away my extra time on drawings for people who don't even care about my artwork to begin with; and I've been doing it now for two straight years!! At least when it's a trade or commission, they show that they give a flying-flip about my artwork by either wasting their time on making a piece in return, or by spending their hard-earned cash upon it. But I've had several times where I've worked my butt off upon a piece just to get no response or comment from the person who it was made for at all.

They obviously don't know how insulting it is to me when I spend my time and energy upon a piece just to have it spat upon in such a manner. ><
I spend hours upon my artwork, they could at least show the human decency to comment or at least acknowledge it's existence.

So, I'm still thinking of holding a 10,000 pageview kiriban. It will only be open, however, to CLOSE friends; those who have shown to me that my artwork is worth their precious time and who I know will actually find JOY in recieveing a piece from me. I'm tired of working my ass off just to recieve poorly feigned interest, or to just be ignored completely. :|

If you find this "offensive" towards you, then I say GOOD. If you've ever just ignored a piece made specifically for you; then you really do deserve to feel the anger that the artist himself or herself experienced. Even if the art is poorly made, the artist STILL put the effort into drawing and making YOUR character out of the goodness of their heart. Taking that for granted is just a horrible thing.

There, it feels better to get that off of my chest(it's been there for a while).
Oh, I mentioned giftart. Hey, guess what? Once I get done with my to-do list, I'll try to whip some of that out for some close friends who have just been filled with awesome towards me. Yay. :]

Please keep in mind that many of these references are old, or only works in progress. I'm sorry about this, I just don't have time to make each of my characters proper references.

:iconanthro-fantasy-club: A club for anthro and fantasy artwork.
:iconthe-phoenix-club: A club for phoenixes and phoenix-lovers.
:iconfans-of-arfy: A fanclub for =Foxchibi
and
:iconchocoboclub: A club for chocobos.


I haven't been very good at running any of them lately. However, I really don't want to give ALL of them up. So, I'm thinking of giving up just one of them.
Now, to tell you guys the truth, I really don't care about Final Fantasy or chocobos that much anymore. I used to love chocobos (hence my last account name), but they just don't interest me like they used to.
So, if anyone wants to be the new admin. of Chocoboclub, (est. circa 2003 or 2004) then just note me.
In the note, you should tell me the following:
- Previous times you've ran or admin. for a club.
- How active you are on DA (that means to copy-pasta your comment count, and your stat page)
- How much freetime you usually have.
- etc.

I'd really like to find the admin. of other chocobo-related clubs with bad or long names. If they promise to move their members to Chocoboclub and shut down the poorly named account, then I'd give the club to them also. :}

Well, I guess I might as well make this FAQ then. =Hyunthesosarian and =Ribbontail were the only ones who asked me any questions. Thanks you two. :]

-What is your purpose for being here?
I first joined so that I could show my artwork to people. Now it's more to keep track of good artists and friends. :XD:

-How long have you been drawing?
Since I could pick up a pencil I've been doodling animals and wierd creatures all over stuff. haha.

-What were the first few things you remembered drawing? (like, what did you draw when you were little)
Before I started kindergarden, all I'd do was sit around and doodle animals (all stick figures, of course). Giraffes were one of my more common subjects then. >.>

-If any, do you have any art-related career in mind?
Did, but it's forbidden. :whisper:

-What do you want to improve art-wise?
EVERYTHING. D: but mostly coloring. Color theory, what's that? :lol:

-What do you like drawing best?
Wolves, horses, dragons. You know, the stuff that EVERYONE seems to draw a whole ton on here. :XD:

-What do you hate drawing?
People and anthro. Sorry, but I'm not very good at either. I blame the torso.... it's too damn hard to draw. ;.; I also don't like drawing super-complex characters with bad designs.

-What is your inspiration?
Mostly music. There is a lot of random things that inspire me for some reason, though. :XD:
