....so dA just deleted my journal entry after I'd waffled on - Grrrr!!

In essence...people who make money from their art, do you have someone help you e.g. an agent or does your work speak for itself?

Also...do you think someone who can draw can draw anything? e.g. a landscape painter paint people and vice versa? I have problems getting a likeness of people. I know one of the greatest talents of a good portrait artist is to get some of a person's personality in there, but I struggle to even get them to look the same...!!

Just a couple of questions that have been floating around my head and hopefully I'll feel better now they're out!

So, I was asked to paint a mural at the end of my last job in California and now I know that's what I want to be when I grow up.

I am grown up so I best get cracking! Now I'm back in England but wanting to leave I'm loathe to try and get something established but I feel I should just get on with it and move when I get the opportunity.

Anyway, any tips for aspiring mural artists?

And a copyright question: How does the copyright work if say for example someone wants a Disney scene painting in their nursery? Assuming one day I achieve some sort of success will there be any reciminations from the work in my portfolio?

So I thought I'd give this journal business a go!
I have finally finished a project someone has asked me to do (well nearly) I have sketched and painted for years but I now have discipline to do something good about it!

I had designed a tattoo for someone at work, I put a lot of effort into it, personalising it and taking feedback from what he wanted (he didn't actually know!) he still has the ideas, he is yet to pick one for me to complete and him to get done - gutted! I was really looking forward to seeing him get it done. I'm sure one day he might (or it'll just get lost and I shall have learnt a lesson!)

Anyway, pretty much everyone at work saw this work in progress, it's surprising how many want tattoos! a friend asked me to design her a tattoo which incorporated the 'heartogram'.

I thought about it A LOT but never really did anything for it - work and procrastination got in the way, so I finally knuckled down about a month ago and have now finished the official mock-ups for her to have a look at and (hopefully) pick one for me to perfect and her to get done! It's so exciting! I can't wait to see it finished.

She has been so encouraging about the process and really liking what she has seen her fiance has asked me to do one too! A cover-up. This is a whole lot more challenging and I am going away for the summer so I have to get it done soon. I love a challenge! I have done a bit of research and it's amazing what these tattooists can do these days! I hope he finds a good one to bring my vision to life!

Well, that's about it for my first proper journal entry I think, lots of rambling, hope it's not too boring!
